Those first two should be good enough, so I'll wait on actions till I know what I spotted.
Out of Rage and fatigued now. :(

everyone else will get an aid from Thovar and Jak (+4) to the above rolls, but as it is an opposed roll...
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32, 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32, 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27, 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19, 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18... Angruf can also see it (the spoiler above, though you are happily coming to the top of the pyramid. During your third climb round (same time/just after Jak.)
Fast forwarding through a couple of rounds until A&J reach the top:
Angruf reaches the man tied to the pyramid. His professional attire bears a badge for the Blakrose Musuem. The open robes reveal his chest colored with the Mwangi motif. The half-elf is screaming mad however, looking much like Maul and the monkeys.
Maul Wil: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10,
Maul Wil: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Maul gets one round against an enemy (closest being Toren) and one round of confusion.
Toren, Angruf, Beckett have two rounds to act (break free of the entangle or something else. I hope that makes sense to everyone. The creature also gets two rounds, but I will wait to see what everyone wants to do in those rounds.
Angruf
|
In anticipation of a demon-possessed prisoner of some sort sitting atop the ziggurat, Angruf has the parchment ready at hand as he tops the last ledge. Seeing the screaming crazy half-elf, Angruf immediately begins davening and reciting stridently from the blessed ancient parchment, "...ברוך אתה אדוני אלוהינו מלך"
expending one use of bardic performance, attempting to exorcise the demonic influence from the Blakrose employee.
Oh - and hey, it's Rosh Hashanah - why wouldn't the ancient scroll start like 90% of Jewish prayers?
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Seems I got the dwarves mixed up again: Toren, Thovar, Beckett have two rounds to act (break free of the entangle or something else.

Rnd 1 Str Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Rnd 2 Str Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Is it basically Entangle? I'm not sure what options I even have.
Justicar Beckett des Laurant
|
What I mean is, that was the Attack roll and Confirmation against the BBEG, even if I can't see them, and max damage. . .:)
Toren "Stand" Still
|
Toren tries to cut some of the vines surrounding Beckett again, "Hold on...I'm trying to get a good hit on these blasted livin' vines!"
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Toren cuts weeds away from his ally only see more weeds grow into their place. Beckett breaks free from the grasping weeds on his own.
Toren, you would have seen the ineffectiveness on the last round you attempted to break him free. You may take a different action if you like.
Beckett, you got free on your first move action. You have a standard action left from your first round and the second round to go. I will use the 19 as your save at the end of your first round, meaning you are not entangled for the second round (though the area is still difficult terrain). Yes this is the entangle spell.
Justicar Beckett des Laurant
|
In that case, I'll take another Move action to get the heck outa there, and on the next round Detect Magic, (focusing up for now).
Thovar Druskeden
|
Thovar continues to attempt to break free and move out of the vines!
Str check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
I got a 21 last round, was that enough? I guess since I didn't move I would need another Reflex save or something... and that above roll would've failed anyway!
Jak Littlewolf
|
Have we gotten back around to Jak and Angruf on top of the pyramid yet? And did the scroll have any affect on the elf?
Jak's kind of stuck until I know what's going on up there. The only other thing is who is closest to the idol I spotted?

Has anyone ever read the comic that the Hulk "picked up" Thor's Hammer? Sort of picked up the earth around it. So with that in mind, shouldn't Dwarves be immune to Entangle?
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Thovar you could have moved after getting out, sorry I missed that.
Julien attacks Toren. slam: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6, dmg: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Toren can respond or take another action. A tiny dart shoots at Thovar (twice).dart: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19, dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
dart: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23, dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
We are otherwise at the top of the round with Angruf counterspelling the mist's mind control over Nigel.
Nigel's screaming subsides and his eyes become teary. After a moment he shakes his head and in a raw voice asks "What? What are all these monkeys?"

Entangle is neither armor or encumberance. It is literally something getting in the way of the movement so no dwarves shouldnt be immune to it.
Maul struggles with the vines attempt to wrench his arms free
str check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Breaking free is a move action. If you fail you still have a standard (or another move action)(DC12)
Thovar has a delayed action.
Toren has a delayed action.
Since everyone goes before the apes, please post in any order.

I'm cool with that. You might even feel a little bad about it. Somewhere deep down. Well one of you. :)
Toren "Stand" Still

Toren takes a short step and swings his polearm at the nearest ape he can hit...
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

"What in the hells?! Someone come up with a plan!"

"Grab Nigel and lets get him out of here for now. From there, we can can try to help Julian once more, or at least let the vines maybe hold him while he clears his mind in safety. Dos anyone have a rope we can use?"

Thovar has a couple partial rounds of inactivity. As he also is nearly the only one who has seen the idol, I shall have him attack it. Feel free to correct me Thovar. Jak's turn also.
warhammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6, dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
The idol shoots another dart at Thovar. dart: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22, dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
I think Thovar drops...

Oof! Down I go. But I did point out the idol and attack it. Maybe that will give others a better idea of where it is?
"Break the idol, friends! Maybe- argh! Ack!" Thovar clutches at the darts sticking out of him and collapses to the ground.

Blasted giganto standing in the way! :)
Da Tunga is a corpse, but the entangle is difficult terrain. Errr... di you mean DaMaul? :)

Alright, I was hoping to help with the elf, since I climbed all the way up here, but...
"Angruf, free Nigel if he's sane and do something about our crazy giant if you can."
Seeing the idol, Jak rushes back down the pyramid towards Thovar, grabbing the Mwangi dagger when he gets there.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
That should beat the entangle. I'm not sure how long it'll take to get there. It took a few rounds to climb, but down should be faster.
btw, we fast forwarded over 2 rounds of Jak climbing, right? Just need to track my fatigue.
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Julien wallops Toren hard, Jak after spending rounds climbing up the pyramid slips some ropes off the bound Nigel and hurtles himself down the sides of the mock pyramid.
Aye two rounds up. Climb check to get down (DC 20 to 'run'), but failing will bring you to the bottom. Aye that beats the needed reflex.
Next round:
**Alpha Group
Julien (21) wallops Toren
Toren (20)
Thovar (17) [down] stabilize?

Becket (15)
Jak(13)

Toren "Stand" Still
|
Toren launches forwards towards Maul, pumping his stubby legs as hard as possible.
Bullrush Maul: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
He pushes harder and harder on the big guy. "It's fer yer own good lad!"
I do NOT have Improved Bull rush so I provoke an AoO.
Moving him straight to the left on the map as many squares as possible (by exceeding his CMD by 5 or more) Assuming I get to move him 5 ft for the initial bull rush, then 5 ft further so I moved him on the map. If I get another 5 ft then we'll have to move him again :)
Toren "Stand" Still

I don't think it actually stops the bullrush...just gives me hefty damage.

Aha...with the 9 damage that's a 13 for my roll which still succeeds!

Thovar shakes his head to clear away the pain, realizing that despite being shot with three darts, he is not much worse off than before. With a yell, he attempts to smash the idol with his hammer.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
The above roll will suffer an additional penalty if Thovar is entangled. Looks like it doesn't make a difference, though.
Angruf
|
Angruf gets the elf's attention (chafing his cheeks lightly if necessary). "Do you know how to stop this? calm the apes? quiet the grasping plants?"
If the elf has any coherent response, Angruf will spend the rest of the round untying the elf.
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
"Calm the apes? No." Nigel responds. "The mists started the ape's madness, and the mists... started with the... Tik Taan." "Who are you?.
Nigel's recollection is foggy but he seems calm enough for one tied to an exhibit, surrounded by mad monkeys and with a large Maul nearby. Angruf pulls the ropes off.
Jak's up, bottom of the ziggaurat.

"We are Pathfinders. We where asked to come help you out. We have taken the other survivors outside to safety and made our way here. We will get you out of her, too, do not worry, Mr Nigel. We just need to find out how to do it, and not kill our friend, here."
On my turn Ill cast Detect Magic again.
