Hello all, as the title says, I am new to GMing PbP style. I am a GM of a few years and I am of a relaxed style as well. I am very into the heavier roleplay side of an RPG than rollplay. But its a necessity, so I am all for working it. And I am looking for a willing group of four to five awesome players to join me in this adventure.
But I have a concern if anyone will want to play the campaign I wish to start with, Rise of the Runelords. I have the anniversy edition PDF and it would be a lovely start.
So with this, I lay it out for a try.
My only requirements that I can think of off hand:
1. Pathfinder material only, and I mean any Pathfinder material, no 3rd party.
2. 15 point buy.
3. Any Core and Featured race, if you really want a rare race, give me a very good reason.
(This is open to changes should anything come up).
If you are interested, we discuss things here, and the message me your character sheet for approval and further discussion for it. I will be doing more than just the AP, with people who really work at their characters we can really make this enjoyable.
So I hope I can get some players so we can start this!

Do you know how to work maps and stuff?
This is an example made with the program I use, its called ditzie. It works great. You just upload any image you want and dictate which ones players can move. Works super easy and is pretty visually appealing compared to some others I've seen. Id be happy to show ya the ropes but honestly ts so easy you will have it down in like 5 minutes.

You are a gentleman and a scholar good sir. I will look at this and play with it and if there are any questions, I will ask you for your assistance with gratitude. I was wondering if there was a good program for it. So thank you greatly.

Okay I've got two characters you can pick whichever one you like best and I'll use him in your game.
The crunch needs to be reworked but the back story, personality and physical description is complete for both characters.
Both are wonderful characters, reading the backgrounds really made me feel for them. I like Bellamy a little more than Karl, but both are good to me. So it comes to you, or rather the groups layout. But as you are the first, you get to chose. The Tank or the Howitzer.

Ariarh Kane |

Dotting for interest. I just got back from my vacation, so I will try and have a character concept on the board by tomorrow, if that is okay.
I enjoy roleplay. I'd like to know what kind of posting rate you are looking for per day/week? And will there be issue with time zones? I ask because I'm in the Southern Hemisphere.

I am glad that you liked both of them, and since you favor Bellamy a little more I will choose to go with him instead of Karl. Should you find yourself in a position where you want to invite another character who's an arcane user but can't because of group balance I can switch to Karl.
I'll work on Bellamy's crunch now.

I believe more GMs are always considered a good thing. And it seems like RotR is always popular. Also... dotting for interest. =)
Oh, also is the common 2 traits okay? And if so, drawback for an extra?
Oh, and I promise someone will ask if ACG classes are allowed with the provision of adjusting them once the book comes out.

oh yes, traits slipped my mind. Yes, two common and a drawback for a third is welcome! I would recommend a campaign trait, but that's up to you!

MatsuKeiji |

Tanque and Lera are both quite good, a fighter and an archaeologist would do well. The other three threw me for a loop to see sorcerers and a Wizard! Hehe!
I feel with Bellamy that's slot should be filled, though I am sad to decline anyone of their choice on my behalf. A well rounded group would be appreciated, so looking for a healer class and a skill monkey does not hurt, with the addition of an extra caster. I am looking for up to five. But its your characters and we can see how far it goes. I'll give time to let you think on that if you wish to stay or change, seeing a group of casters would be kind of hilarious.
OH! I forgot Slyness' other question, at the moment, no ACG classes till it comes out. I'm excited for it like the rest, but we must wait.

DoubleGold |

I common question that is asked by many, but how do you feel about guns or gunslingers?
Actually I'm thinking Wizard with the spellslinger archtype.
Or if you are looking for a healer are you okay with a inquisitor, or would you want a full divinst that can learn level 9 spells?
Another question since this is strict roleplay. How strict are you on alingments? Like what happens if we tend to step out of alingment?

I do apologize, but they will not be available till its released, I am a lover of those two classes as well, but much can change after a play test, so a the moment no. But I am more than excited to have brothers join. It just depends on how the recruiting goes!

In about 4 days time you will usually have about 12 or more players submitting to a AP even if you were a new DM.
Like all DMs, you will have decisions to make as to who to get in and who to cut.

Thank your for this knowledge! Helping me grow as a DM here. Well I will let the requests arise and try to find a nice well rounded group, I want the group to be able to make it through as I hate TPKs. So I will look at what is offered and see what can be done.

I'm interested, if you're still looking for players.
Will this be for PFS credit? (Even if not, I'm still interested.)
I'm flexible and willing to play any class or type that the party needs (melee, ranged, skill, arcane, divine).
I prefer to play NG aligned characters.
I am, trying to fill the slots up, and I apologize it is not for Credit. Just simple fun. And flexibility is very welcome here.

MatsuKeiji |

Okay, so I figure to make things easier, I suppose I should state a gist of what I am looking for! Still learning some things, so I apologize for my novice errors.
1. A tank! Needed to have something to take the hits and dish it back.
2. A healer! As long as it can heal well and keep the party going, its good!
3. Skill monkey! Adventure paths like these usually need skills done, especially knowledge checks!
4. An power caster, full nine! Something to supply some power to the group!
5. And this is the slot that's open to relatively anything! But the first four are my concern!
Oh, I figure this is common knowledge, may be mistaken, but no evil characters.
If this works well, I'll do an evil campaign another time!

I really wanted to submit a psion, but seeing that its 3rd party I didn't think you would allow it. It bums me out that paizo didn't do psionics like wizards of the coast did because their my favorite class and they always get shunned, partially for being 3rd party. However, if you would be willing to give that 5th spot to a psion, id be happy to withdraw my arcane caster and let someone else get that spot:)
What my psion would bring to the party? Well they are Int based so I wind up getting a lot of skill points, 9 every level before I even get ability boosts or magic items. I like to max disable device, open lock, and sleight of hand just because I like playing rogueish style. Also, psions get all knowledge skills, so I max most of them as well. Basically, if the skill links to a creature type, I max it. Plus I play a great party face. Not because psions are charismatic, but because a telepath basically eliminates the need for charisma to be a party face. Charm makes easy work of diplomacy, theres a power that grants a +10 to bluff, and reading minds typically works a lot better than sense motive.
And that's just a brief description of how I fill party roles. When the going gets tough, I'd be making our enemies kill each other or even themselves lol. Anyway its no big deal, I just thought I'd throw it out there since there is a 5th slot open to anything. I'd rather play the sorcerer I submitted if it has a better chance, but my psionic build is indeed awesome

Lera Satjian |

@jimibones83: I submitted a bard (archaeologist) who can do all the knowledge checks, has DIP and can be party face and also has the ability to heal via spells. Aye she doesn't have telepathy but I think she's covered via high CHA. The archaeologist archetype has a roguish element ... So even if psion is not allowable, I think this archetype could cover those bases.
@MatsuKeiji: Thanks for answering re posting rates as best as you can at present.

jimibones83 |

Right on. Those reasons weren't the ones I like playing a psionic for though, they were just ways to fill party roles. Powers like dominate, mind switch, death urge, fuse flesh etc, are a lot of fun. Dominate's one you can get as a sorcerer, but you can cast it quite a bit more as a psion. Many others, such as the other 3 I listed, are limited to psions though, and they're way awesome

Lera Satjian |

@jimibones83: I understand. Never played a psion or been in groups where the GM has allowed them. Was just addressing the original points you brought up about what a psion could bring to the group. :)
Edit: Hmm, if a psion is allowable, then perhaps I could make a different character -- perhaps a cleric (scroll scholar)? Will wait to hear what MatsuKeiji says on the matter. When a work break appears, I will be finalising Lera's background etc ... Sorry, posting from the phone at present and working.

MatsuKeiji |

Forgive me, Jimibones... I have BAD experiences with psionics. So I steadfastly refuse them in my games. My apologizes.
I'm doimg the same at my own work currently Lera, from my nook with internet sharing on my phone, allows me to keep updated on my lovely thread, I may not be able to post quickly during the time, but I will see all! (Queue thunder!)

God I hope I'm not too late for this.
I'm a moderately skilled player and GM and I'm hoping to get in on some new gameplay. Yours looks fun, and I'd like to be a part of it.
As a heads up, I'd more than likely be playing a character I've already made, as new characters are a little harder for me to make in my current state of things.
I happen to have Emilio Cross, which I intended to be a Cleric of Iomedei for another campaign where he'd be called a Zakarunite (brownie points for knowing where that came from). Then he got turned into a Barbarian for another game that never took off.
I can post for you to show you what he's like as a tank, since I'm not getting a feel of classes yet. If need be, I can change him back to his Holy Hand ways.
One last thing, how much starting gold are we getting? His started out with something like 900, I don't remember.

Emilio Cross |

As the tall, toned, green-skined creature stands before you, you can tell he is sizing you up before you even get within spitting distance. He wears a large cloak which you can tell he took off of a corpse, the arrow hole through the chest piece still evident. On his back is a large greataxe, blood from his last kill dried to the blade.
When he gets closer to you, you see his wild black hair and his protruding tusks. He's no Orc, but he's no human either. As he speaks, his voice is surprisingly calm and collective for such a large man.
"I am Emilo Cross. I seek passage into the northern lands. Can you assist me?"
Emilio Cross is armed and ready to go!

The thunder clap was a great inclusion. ;) I could almost hear it way down here. :)
I have finished Lera's backstory, personality, gear etc. If I need to make any adjustments or corrections, please let me know.
