Hi, I thought I would have a chance to post sooner, but things turned out a little differently than expected. I would like to post, but need to sleep so I can go back to work in the morning. I expect I can post tomorrow afternoon/evening. I also need some time to process and plan a next action for Graghhh.

Graghhh |
Hey, so not being as experienced with this and new to the campaign, I was wondering how much I need to use perception rolls to describe the room or to make certain actions, notice things, etc. Also, I'm a bit unsure of what I need to roll to successfully do certain things. Just a little unsure at this point. How do I know what rolls succeed at say, picking the lock on the door? Do I need to make a roll to even perceive whether or not the door actually is locked? Just not completely sure how to figure out some of the numbers. Thanks.

Graghhh |
I was on a trip last week. Things should be a little more routine for the near future, so I think I should be able to post pretty regularly. Probably most days at least a short post until August.

The family I will be with is apparently very wealthy. So I would be shocked if I didn't have any sort of internet. For the time being though, I've got a lot of things to get done before I leave. I think I'm going to be leaving in about 4 weeks? I'm not 100% sure, it depends on when I get my visa and when the family sends me first month pay and plane ticket.

So, I need a decision from group.
Richard has made 7 posts in the last 4 months. This seems to be a pattern of posting. When he posts it is an asset to game, however the infrequency doesn't allow us to enjoy him or have much to work with.
I know from talking with him that work has been a bear lately but this also seems to be a consistent occurrence.
I feel that maybe he should withdraw from game until life is more manageable time wise. I don't want to lose him because of all I have been setting up with his toon, but I need some consistency.
So I ask if this is fair: Richard we need to see posting from you atleast 3 x week if you intend to stay in game. I also need to have some sort of a background from you with in the next week.
If this is to much then maybe you need to withdraw until Real Life allows you to have more "free" time.
Is this fair group??
I must also confess that I have two other parties wanting to join whom I have denied so far due to size of group. They show a consistent pattern of posting that would be helpful to game.

That sounds fine to me. I've enjoyed the personality in Richard's posts and the way he's used the Amnesiac archetype's ability to temporarily learn situational spells, so I'd love to see him become more active. But if that's not a realistic possibility for him, it makes sense to let someone who can participate more join the game.

Graghhh |
Agreed. I haven't really seen much of what he has offered to the game, although I did read a little bit of what he posted just prior to my joining and it seemed that he made an interesting character. However, I think that it would be respectful to all if he could post more often or allow someone to take his place until things free up a little for him. I'm not saying just kick him out, either. If and when he can put a little more time into it, allow him to join in again, based on group size, etc.

Just some clarification on the wooden marble. It is not completely intact. It has been singed by the viscous liquid. It is now black and, I'm not sure, but might be ready to fall apart. I'm not sure of the end result of the chemical reaction.

I also agree with the sentiments of both Quinten and Graghhh. He has a character with an awesome amount of potential and I would love to see the character evolve. I also understand when Real Life intrudes. I am also going thru a massive work load currently with my job that has nearly doubled my work week consistently for the last couple months and is projected to continue thru September. I definitely empathize with Richard concerning the real life struggles. I hope that he will be able to balance both and continue to have the time to contribute and evlove his character.
All that said Herk, your request does seem fair. I would ask for clarification that the 3X posting. Is that in game or depending on game focus a combined number between game and discussion?

Graghhh |
I've been paying attention. I'm hoping for some more posts. Right now, Graghhh is waiting for someone to do something. He is patiently perched on a rope, so please move so he can come back down. ;)

Graghhh |
Somehow I missed the post about Jerram jumping into the empty pool and taking the key. I also didn't see that the doors had closed and the room was filling with that liquid when I posted again. So it made sense in my mind, but maybe doesn't make so much sense in the story. Is there some way to take it back, maybe ignore my last post or even do a rewrite?

Graghhh |
Ha! I found the edit button, changed it and now it makes sense. I thought I'd leave the other post here, though just to let you know that I figured it out and we are good. The direction of the story only changes a tiny bit.

Shadara Windless |

I was wondering what was going on but then figured that you would catch up on the narrative. It happens sometimes and gives an interesting change to the read like we dropped focus of one thread of the story to back up to a different thread and see the same events unfold from another angle. While sometimes harder to write it is fun to read.

Graghhh |
I'd like to post some more. I've been able to check pretty much every day for the last week. I'm waiting now on some simple action from Jerram since he has the key, or someone getting that over to where I am standing next to the door. I understand that RL happens, just saying that it would make sense to have him bring it over or someone who has been with the group for a while to go get it from him. Being a newer member of the group and having asked for it twice, I believe, it just seems that someone ought to be moved to action.

Graghhh |
Oh, sure. I'll do that. Just do ooc comment at the end of posts to let people know there's a song to check out?

![]() |

Personally, I like keeping minor OOC comments, such as cheering a good roll, in the main thread. It's hard to match comments here with game play posts, especially if I'm re-reading a segment weeks later.

Graghhh |
I think I understand Herk and Quinten's viewpoints. I think the spoiler is probably the best way to do it, so you don't have to wonder where songs and such are supposed to be inserted into the action and it keeps it from cluttering the posts and making it hard to understand what is what on the gameplay posts.

Spoilers work fine for me.
Any luck hearing from Jerram out of game? I've enjoyed his character and would like to see him post again.

Shadara Windless |

I may not post til Sunday or monday. I just got home from having to drive to coast to get mom out of hospital. She decided "" to pass a kidney stone while picking up my sister. Long day and story. And we are leaving for a pirate treasure hunt somewhere else on the coast in about 5 hours. Moms fine stone is passed and she is resting at home. I may be dead to the world sunday as the treasure hunt is all day and we are not staying the night.
Just wanted everyone to know. Game with you soon.

Graghhh |
I hate to force someone's action, but there was no movement on the part of either Jerram or Richard, so I thought it best to do something to move them along. Now Herk can make some decision on how best to deal with them, at least for the time being. Graghhh was waiting for all others to go into the hole before he moved on, so I thought it best to get them there, since they weren't doing it. I hope they catch up or let us know what is going on, so we can move on with the story accordingly. I have been enjoying the play of the game and hope they can come back and rejoin us.

Shadara Windless |

Richard is probably getting dropped, not sure why Jerram hasn't added anything... Has anyone been able to get a hold of him by phone or on FB?
Haven't tried at this point. Been crazy busy myself. And this is the first chance I would have to reach out. I may try tomorrow during the day to see how he and his family are doing.

Shadara Windless |

perfect time for me to get that initiative score. I will not be able to post tomorrow as I have to travel out of town and put in an 18 hour day. I hope to post Thursday but depending on how the work and travel go I might not be able to update until Friday. On the other hand I don't have any weapons at the moment so I guess being invisible might actually help me here.

![]() |

Graghhh, you rolled initiative correctly.
Unless you have armor or magic items that increase AC, your AC and Touch AC default to 10 + your Dexterity modifier, which would put them at 14 rather than 13. Your flat-footed AC is correct.

Graghhh |
Herk, I hope my gameplay post works okay. I'm not quite sure how the delay will
affect my actions. I guess my action is delayed because I'm not in the room when the monsters attack? I don't know exactly where my actions would fit into the round(s), so let me know how to proceed. I have plans for the next few actions, though. I'm not sure how many rounds each action will take, either, perhaps there are some that don't take a full round. Kind of a developing plan that could change.
Also, thanks, Quinten.
I cannot, however, be caught flat-footed. I don't know if you saw that.

So something to help with posting graggggh
Make all your rolls in one spoiler just label them. Clears up room.
Also based on what has been said even prior to you entering the room, and what you know about high and bad rolls, feels free to expand on what is going on and what the room looks like with in reason. Like you did with adding the ledge.
You narrate what you did like this example:
entering the room quietly graggh doesn’t see much due to the stench and the sudden light. He does see two creatures attacking his companion s and thinking he realizes they are otyughs which he remembers as carrion scavengers. They tend to be territorial and somewhat intelligent. They will eat anything..
Still moving quietly gragggh looks for a space to get a clearer advantage of the area and seeing one he quietly climbs to the outcropping a few feet above him hoping he has avoided notice by the otyughs.
This will take atleast two turns, the enter – the climb so you will act at the start of round 3

Graghhh |
Perfect. Thanks. I was rolling as I was writing so that I could make some choices based on what I rolled. I think I can put them together in the future. I see what you mean about conserving space. I will wait until round 3 to make another move.
