Khatijah doesn't seem to even notice that Khasra is even talking to her, seeing as her attention has moved onto Garavel and Thurrios.
This isn't personal, Khasra, I'm just having fun with Khatijah's own brand of abrasive stubbornness. If it gets to be too much, let me know and I'll tone it down.
You're fine! I am enjoying myself as well. If I feel anything goes over the top I will mention it. I will say that this is the first time I have played a character who is quite the jerk. How am I doing?

Status update: she successfully had angioplasty and a stint put in. They checked for a stroke and found no signs of such. She sleeps for the most part, though she is not recognizing anyone and is not very coherent.
The surgery being a success was most welcome, though there is still more yet to come. We still have to see if her body rejects or accepts said stint, which will come with time. That's about it for now.

Sorry for the wait. I kind of have the bad habit of waiting to see if players are going to post more, even when it is probably better for me to give more stuff to post about. I'll try to keep things moving from hereon out.
Also, it's hardly a dramatic encounter, but this is the first official combat of the game. Let me know if you have any issues with the formatting or anything.

Khasra |

Hey everyone. My mom-in-law is doing well and the rehab center. Getting back to a regular schedule takes time after such an intense situation such as this, so I have been attempting to get myself back in jerk mode...I mean the proper mindset to play again.
I will catch up on the gameplay thread I will get a post up. Glad to be back!

Well, it's not exactly official, but I think we might have lost Sami. It's been nearly a month since her last post. I sent her a PM, but have not received a response. For all I know her ISP crapped out, but at the moment I am going to assume the worst case scenario. We're down to four people.
That being said, are you all comfortable with leaving the group as is for the time being? Or would you rather that I go ahead and open recruitment again? There are plenty of opportunities along the way to introduce new characters, so it's not something that has to be done immediately.

Mahorfeus |

It's designed for 4 right?
Not so sure about the newer ones, but yes, I do believe that the earlier APs are "balanced" for a group of four 15-point buy characters. I feel that it's a rough guideline at best, and it's not something I've ever really taken seriously.
But like I said, I'm all right with keeping the group at four if you wall want. If the going ever gets rough, we can figure something out then.

I suppose I should touch on how these exploration segments will work. In between encounters, just describe the general direction you want your character to move in (within reason, given your current position), and I will describe any significant details along the way. If you want your character to more closely inspect something, then I'll focus on that. So on, and so forth. Luckily the map has some nifty numbers on it that should make this all a bit easier.
And while I would not advise splitting the party (as usual), our group here is pretty small, so it is not undoable.

Mahorfeus |

Thanks for the heads up, Marossa.
This encounter is now totally a thing. I don't feel like the original version from the books translates very well into play-by-post games (especially with the way we're playing), and it just seemed plain frustrating. Makes sense seeing pugwampis were designed to be, well, annoying. I opted for something a tad more... direct.
Anyway, let's see how this goes...

Sorry about the delay, folks. Just two more exams, then hopefully I'll be able to devote more time to this. I'll try to get a post up tonight (thought it seems like it will be a depressing one). I'm thinking 48 hours is going to be about how long I wait for everyone to post during combat. Hope that seems reasonable enough.

Khasra |

I... am actually feeling inclined to agree. I thought my "nerf" to this encounter might make it go more smoothly, but it seems I vastly underestimated how annoying pugwampis can be. We might be here forever at this rate. If everyone else is in agreement, I would be all right with fastforwarding through this encounter to the tune of Yakety Sax. The leader is the only real threat, anyway.
I am in agreeance with this.

Ouch, that it is. My apologies, that's another oversight on my part. Well, there are a few potential solutions to situations like this.
- Zastoran has identify in his formula book, so he can help you out once you reunite with the rest of the company.
- You're not terribly far from level 2, so one of you could pick up rank in Spellcraft if you want.
- As you all said, we're fine at four party members for the time being, but we could get a full caster on board if you want.
- I'd rather not to be honest, but we can just toss identification out the window.

Ok, I've got it. I gave up my point in Survival, but we've got a Ranger anyways!
With that said, I'd not be opposed to our taking on a full wizard or sorcerer.

Mahorfeus |

Well, the new year is here! I hope everybody got a chance to relax over the holidays.
There's more exploration coming up, and perhaps some combat that won't make you want to pull your hair out.

Hm. Go ahead and put the rank back into Survival, please. Usually I'm all right with changing skills up, but Thurrios has already used the skill on two separate occasions.

Khasra |

I apologize in advance for not posting recently. I lost my job which has led me to scramble to get things in motion to keep my bills paid. I will be getting a post up tonight to keep things moving.
Once again I apologize. Life throws a curve ball every now and again.

Mahorfeus |

It seems Adam hasn't posted on any of his aliases for over a month now, Khatijah included. He might just be busy, but I'll shoot him a PM later today just to be sure. Can't help but to have a bad feeling, though. I hope the gremlins didn't get to him.
That being said, there are more encounters in the monastery, but I am hesitant to start any since I'd be running over half the party myself, unless somebody wants to do so. That would certainly make things easier.
I may or may not have someone willing to join us. Early on in this AP it's relatively easy to bring in new people, especially since the whole mercenary angle is still front and center. It would get a little harder once things hit the proverbial fan, so it will probably be soon.
Anyway, once I get home I'll post the next update.

Marossa |

Alright... so I can't help but notice that for the last several posts now its been just Thurrios and I making any contribution to the thread, besides yourself of course DM. While I understand the need for RL to take precedence the truth is that this feels like most of the group has been forced to leave the campaign. Which is fine but its a bit of a drag trying to get this ball rolling again with just the three of us. Assuming Sami and Khatijah have simply left the campaign and Khasra is indisposed for the foreseeable future, I think we need to bring in more than just one new player. I'd certainly be willing to save a spot for Khasra to be a fifth member of the party once she has dealt with her real life issues but a full active party would do a lot to reinvigorate my own dropping post rate. There's nothing quite like an echo room to make one stop talking unfortunately.
Anyway, just my thoughts and suggestions, no offense is meant or intended. I'd really like to play through a Legacy of Fire game that didn't falter and stop right at the start like so many seem to on these forums.

Mahorfeus |

No, you do have a point. It had been my intention to just wait for this particular section of the AP to end before replacing anybody, but at this point it will be rather difficult to finish the monastery without an active party. I am willing to leave room for Khasra, but I think we'd need at least two more people on board. The only trouble is that I don't know how to pull that off without making the meeting with the new characters totally convoluted, unless you guys don't mind if only because it'd keep the game going. It would have to happen soon, though.
