I suppose it could go without saying, but this is leading up to my not-so-subtle way of sliding Marossa out of the party. I figured that arbitrarily having her join the former PC B-team wouldn't make quite as much sense as it did for the others, so instead I decided to take advantage of an important element of her character.
On a somewhat related note, I have someone who might be willing to take her place in the party. I won't go into too much detail about that just yet, especially since I'm still not sure how to work another character into the campaign (the "late to the party" thing won't work again), but it might be something to look out for.
And since Anapa seems to plan on loading up on the healing (no complaints here!), I suppose we don't necessarily need it to be another healer type.

Yup. Hospitelar. Lot's of healing. not as great as a cleric, but a lot!

Just curious, this AP or module... from what level to what level does it go?

Good to know :)
Need to plan ahead... feat wise. But safe to say... at level 9 i will be able to use raise dead. 1/day. But still a good thing. With no mats needed... just a 24hr level drop

Woot! Thurrios is now wielding a scimitar as the Dawnflower intended!
By 5th level we'll need to have figured out this Piranha Strike/Power Attack stuff!
He may never be a full infiltrationist, but he got a little better at that too.
I'll post him up later and fix everything in his profile.

Ha, ha! Nice. We have a fox companion.
Alright Julius level 3...
So, I was working on this in HeroLab last night only to realize that my choices will pretty much shape Julius' future going forward. As I am a team player, I'm curious to hear what kind of focus the party feels would benefit us. My original idea of Julius is his eagerness to learn and study magic in all its forms. I see several different paths this could take.
- Focused countermage - Magic study allows manipulation of others' spell effects and general magic control.
- Pursuer of raw power - Mostly evocation spells and exploits focused on increasing pure destructive power.
- Consummate crafter - Heavy emphasis on making items to always have the right spell on hand even when it's not "prepared."
- Tactician - Directing the battlefield and how the enemy attacks the party or is attacked by the party.
- Your suggestion here
With Mahorfeus' permission, I may revisit some of my previous choices for feats and exploits to better align with the focus going forward. Regardless, please let me know what you all think!
Anapa Scion of Anubis
Maybe a mix? My character is not very combat orientated, healer/tank. that's my job :P
Narkû
Per your definitions I would suggest the Consummate Crafter.
If this role will be able to have the right spell on hand, then that role covers the other three as well. By choosing Consummate Crafter, I would assume that there will be feat selections that will not make you as powerfully focused as the other roles, but the versatility makes up for that.
Narkû is focusing on the combat side of things, with high damage, mobility and extended durability (Ferocity path). I can't wait to get Phlegm Thrower involved in combat, he is able to intimidate as well as Narkû.

The path I take would really figure into feat and exploit selection. But is it possible to counterspell with scrolls or wands? I'd never heard that.
Regarding the crafter path, one concern that was brought up to me was the possible lack of time/materials to craft. I'm up for it of course. I, too, think that could be a really strong focus.
Anapa Scion of Anubis
Right now my healing is very limited, 1d6+1d6 if you are not sickened. but at least at lvl4 i get channel too. LoH and channel so that will increase my healing. but for the moment, it will have to be shared between the people :P
Sarala
|
Currently, I haven't had to make many choices for Sarala, but my L3 feat is going towards power attack and should provide for a nice little boost in damage coming from Sarala. I think my big decisions start cropping up next level.
With Mahorfeus's permission, I've moved Sarala from regular monk to unchained monk, so that will help with her damage output too.
Narkû
I have always run that you can counterspell with a scroll and a wand. But Mahorfeus may run it differnently. I have always felt that if the player wants to use the resources and actions to ready for a counterspell, why exclude scrolls and wands. There is still enough risk of not having the correct spell either in hand, known or prepared, that you may not be able to counterspell anyway.
Mahorfeus
A wand of dispel magic would work, and might be your best bet. Otherwise you would have to just happen to have a wand/scroll with the appropriate spell (or school if you have the feat) handy and drawn when you ready your action to counter. Using that method would be limiting though, since you wouldn't have the advantage of picking what spell you want to counter with from what you have prepared - the spell you are trying to counter would just have to happen to be identical or of the same school.
As for crafting, there should be plenty of downtime later on.

Enjoy :)

A dark figure walks ominously about the small dwelling, the acrid smell of burnt chemicals drifting gently in the air. A low rough voice mutters, seemingly to themselves as they work at the rough hewn tables that have started to crumble with age. "They pay. Genocide."
The mumbling it interrupted by an insistent banging upon the wooden portal. The robed creature looks towards the doorway...

The list of loot that I have is:
Items in bold detect as magic
Most of this was gained prior to all of you joining the party.
With the understanding that they are not to sell the items, I will give the ring to Sarala, the phylactery to Anapa, and the dagger to Julius.
The book I will give to the two Pathfinders in our group, as finding such knowledge is one of their goals in life.
Can anyone appraise the garnet?
I will sell the mace. Should get 1150 gp for it, right? Added to the 47gp that gives us 1197gp in the treasury.
I will split that out as:
100gp Sarala, Anapa, Thurrios
200gp Julius
400gp Narku
And keep the remainder in the party treasury.
Should anyone not want the items offered, let me know and I will make alternate arrangements.
I believe this would leave the party treasury as:
Narkû
split looks fine to Narkû.
As none of the items are of particular interest to Narkû, he will view this division of coin as your combined acknowledgement of his greatness in battle and your continued desire not to be denied the ability to follow in his shadow, so that you may one day obtain a similar glory, although at a lesser degree, then that which he is destined to achieve.
Thurrios the Forgiving
Suits me fine. Skipping the part where Sarala climbs down from where she climbs up will be handy.
It struck me that Sarala, as the Monk, was our most likely climber person, so the ring made sense on her.

Considering information gathering about the temple and what else the Pactmasters were up to in Kelmerane was one of the things you all were harping about earlier, why isn't anyone posting? No one here but me and Sarala like the roleplay aspect of all this? :-P
C'mon guys! There's more to this game than just exploration and combat encounters. :-D
Narkû
Narku asked his questions for more information and got no response from them, and he failed his Sense Motive check on why he would not get an answer. So as far as he is concerned, there is not a reason for him to continue asking questions of the people in charge.
He may do more now that they have been dismissed from Almah .
Thurrios the Forgiving
I'm willing to agree to disagree, but I didn't take Thurrios thoughts on the Pathfinder Society as being overly meta. The organization is known to exist, its motivations and methods will be questioned by those living in that worldl
There are cultures in our world who believe the United Ststes literally causes earthquakes and tsunamis to harm its enemies and third world countries. With that as a yardstick, unsubstantiated "you Pathfinders are bumbling meddlers" doesn't seem a crazy view for someone to have in that world.
Sarala
|
Seems like a fine view to have without being meta, some characters will be prone to jumping to wild conclusions as much as people in the real world can be prone to fallacious reasoning. It might be meta if Thurrios could somehow recall specific events that would support his view, but as no such claims have been made, I take no issue or anything.
Sarala would be a touch offended by the claim, though!
Thurrios the Forgiving
Considering the end of the world we're adventuring in, I such well known examples occurred to me, now if we were in Osirion, I could have claimed some generic pilfering of tombs stuff, but that doesn't fit here. It is kind of funny though that we have two Society members in the group, and we ran across some agents in the field.
Barring Shattered Star I'm not familiar with an AP that throws some Pathfinders right into the adventurers path. Admittedly, I have not played/read all of them though.

My comment about meta was more about where the conversation was/is headed. Suddenly throwing out examples of Pathfinder Lodge "errors" that are based on history or rumor from Garund or Brevoy or places really far away or even based on modules and adventures one would only have knowledge of because one is partaking in them, such as the organized PFS scenarios or the like, would be meta. That's really what I was driving at—avoiding the use of things these characters would never have any chance to have exposure to. So far, no one is being meta. Baseless bias against the PFS is completely possible and likely.
Though if Thurrios really did have such a discriminatory attitude towards the PFS, I guess it would have been nice for Sarala and I to know that before character creation. :-/

Honestly, I'm not sure I he did before recent events, and I'm not sure it ever might have come up, if not for these PFS agents having come into the storyline. To date, I believe he has treated you as trusted companions, only the revelations by Felliped have really caused any problem.
He might have prejudices against dwarves too, but we've not run across any of them yet.
Really, it will be fine.
I enjoy the conversation, and once we get back to killing bad guys, all will be well.
