No objection, as long as "creepy, crazy, and prone to violence" doesn't turn into intra-party conflict.
Heh. His PM was well-written and friendly (totally out-of-pirate-character), so I'm pretty sure he'll work out fine. The only time I recall anything remotely approaching intra-party conflict is when his PC picked up a cursed monkey idol and decided becoming the new Gorilla King would be kinda cool. :)
Even then, I don't think he ever attacked his old mates.

Honestly, I can't even argue against that.

Hello all - I'm the aforementioned pirate game player/lurker on your corner of Kintargo :)
Can assure you all that my character pitch will be extremely far removed from my hair-lipped Half-Orc Thug who talks to his weapons and was indeed once a Gorilla King. As GM-S rightly said I'm a very reliable poster, and veteran of pbp here on the boards.
Planning on giving you all a Half Elf Cleric (Hidden Priest of Milani) . He's somewhat of a thespian and uses the dramatic flourish of a Wizard for his covert worship.
Have a bunch of stuff to work out - but hugely appreciate the consideration. Looks a very fun game with excellent characters.
GM's given me some outlines for creation, but if there's anything you guys need me to pay heed to in my build then I'm all ears. FYI - I'm in Scotland (GMT +0) so will be turning in soon (however am on annual leave so will have a bunch of time tomorrow to get my character created)
1d30 ⇒ 2
1d30 ⇒ 19
Cheers

On this side adventure, I fervently hope Dukkan will run into Spitty, y'know? He's still an outstandingly outstanding item on my to-do list.

Arani Thorindal |

Sounds like this whole thing is gonna be Dukkan's Vengeance tour

Domitius aka Dukkan |

Sounds like this whole thing is gonna be Dukkan's Vengeance tour
Kind of, but the only one about whom Dukkan would consider it vengeance would be Spitty. He's the only one with whom he has a specific axe to grind (or a falcata, or a dagger). The others, Dukkan would consider it just "Teaching them a lesson in being a good citizen."

Black Dow |

Nothing to see here :)
Just finish up some of the crunch for my "priest in wizards clothing"...
#1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
#2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
#3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Almost there on the build, will get the background fluff nailed down tomorrow.
Not sure if I'm revealing the character in the OOC or waiting to in-game intro?

Arani Thorindal |

@Dom do you know something OOC that we don't or are we just supposed to accept your course of action is right because?

GM Silversong |

Waiting for Davina to chime in, as it's her family manor and all.

Getting ready to chime in.

Domitius aka Dukkan |

Going to wait to answer Sarila, as I want to see if Davina had any personal effects she wanted me to gather from the house. Unless you want me to get started, and add that part in later? I'm flexible.

Domitius aka Dukkan |

So we have any particulars to sort out in Kintargo before donning disguises and heading out to the shrine? As I said in Gameplay, a few slings to make us look like "regular folks just trying to put more food on the table" might work to our benefit (and then like, leave Arani as the one of us prominently owning a bow as our "big gun" or something).
Anything else we need to do before we set out?

GM Silversong |

I'll likely be without internet access until Tuesday afternoon (11/12). Next post (hopefully) then!

Domitius aka Dukkan |

Given that I was already trying to defuse the situation, I don't really think "Threaten to shoot the guy we've come here to seek the aid of" was the most value-adding option you could have chosen there. :-/ Could Arani please take it down a notch?

Arani Thorindal |

1.) As Arani is concerned, she isn't taking any unnecessary chances and risking Davina or Falina hurt or killed because we decided to be sloppy.
2.) Arani doesn't know Dom as anything much beyond the bodyguard of someone she didn't think all that much of to begin with, who suddenly thinks he can give her orders and doesn't seem (to her) to take Thrune and the threat he is to everyone seriously (something she finds irritating but is choosing to stifle for now).
3.) She takes her role as a protector/sentinel to heart. Not the type of person to easily and voluntarily lower their guard in the face of potential violence, especially not when told to by someone she doesn't have a reason to hold in high esteem yet. One of the other party members would likely have a better time of talking her down.

Domitius aka Dukkan |

The plan to find Octavius originated before I came back; was there an actual plan to this? Something specific we were going to ask of him?

Domitius aka Dukkan |

Thoughts on how to smuggle Sabinus' equipment back into Kintargo, chapter 8...
Me going from memory is always a laughable proposition, but Jessibel left town with a couple of wagons, didn't she? What if he left them here at the shrine, and when Jess comes back to Kintargo, she smuggles them in?
That's not great, but so far it's the best idea I've had. Anyone got anything else? Let's hear it!

Arani Thorindal |

Illusion magic glamour storing it in something like a portable hole or bag of holding

Domitius aka Dukkan |

I like the thinking, but unfortunately I don't think we have any of those available as options just now. (On the plus side, you absolutely reminded me that I want to pick up glamered armor at some point.)

Arani Thorindal |

We're kind of hurting in the magic department overall.

T'chazzar |

I can only really think of stuff in broad strokes at the moment, like:
* Make it so that the thing that is outside is something that the guards want inside. Like the old "Transylvania 6-5000" gag where the dude is trying to break INTO an asylum and Jeff Goldblum shouts "Man trying to escape! Man trying to escape!" and the guards show up and haul him inside. Or some kind of cargo that is clearly supposed to be in the city, like recovered stolen goods.
* Run a con job like a blow-off so that even if the guards wind up letting us bring the goods in, they can't DO anything about it without getting in trouble. The typical blow-off is something like an illegal boxing ring, and after you collect all the bets, your buddy in a fake police outfit runs in and shouts "This is a raid!" and all the bettors run away because they don't want to get caught in an illegal gambling thing, and who are they going to report it to? So they lost their money and they have to stay quiet. In this case it would be something like, we get the guards to accept a bribe to do something that they were going to do anyway, then you sneak in the contraband and reveal it and when the guards threaten to arrest you, you threaten to expose them for taking bribes (which is true!) and tell them that maybe everyone should just walk away - they keep the money, you keep the goods, everyone pretends it never happened.

Sorry friends. I've had a week that kicked my rear. I'm doing my best to catch up, and try to have a post up by the end of today (Wednesday). I just wanted to let my games know I'm alive and kicking the week back as best I can.

GM Silversong |

I've been a bit under the weather but hope to get a post up tomorrow.

Black Dow |

Gang know I've yet to join in game-play (believe it was/is imminent) - just wanted to give you all (especially our GM) the heads up that recently got the awful news that our beloved 9 year old rescue staffy, Darby, has an aggressive brain tumour and only 4-6 weeks left with us.
Our red boy is the epicentre of our lives and this has pretty much shocked us to the core. We're brokenhearted and if over the next few days and weeks my posting suffers please bear with and bot me as necessary.
BD

Arani Thorindal |

I'm so sorry

Davina Eradon |

First I'm so sorry for your news BD.
Second I'm sorry for going MIA. All I can say is I'm sorry, and depression sucks. I'll get caught up as quickly as I can.

GM Silversong |

Sorry to hear the grim news about your canine pal, BD.
Hope things turn around for you, Davina.
My turn to apologize. In hindsight, I've probably gone through my own small bout of depression. Nothing major--just a lot of little annoyances piling up and some lingering health issues. I'll do my best to post more consistently for the next three weeks; then we'll probably put the game on holiday hiatus between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Domitius aka Dukkan |

I'm sorry either of you, hell anyone, has to go through that. My best wishes to both of you.
And now, I turn into a pumpkin, and drive three hours to work tomorrow for, um, reasons? /shrug

Falina |

My deepest sympathies to you.

Dekamund Boscobel |

Appreciate the thoughts and condolences all - my employer is letting me work from home while we spend our precious days with our precious boy.
Means I'll have a little more opportunity to post than I thought.
With GM Silver's approval I've swapped out the Apprentice's Cheating Gloves for the equally apt Cloak of the Hedge Wizard (Illusion). Latter is slightly more expensive but offers Dekamund more options to cover his charade as a wizard.
Trusting that this is acceptable I'll get a game post up shortly.

GM Silversong |

No problem, Dekamund. Looking forward to seeing what your character will do.

Domitius aka Dukkan |

On our next turn, T'chazzar, while acknowledging the risk of cold dice, think you could finish off CCG6 while I start dealing with those three "above" us?

T'chazzar |

Yeah, I can keep 'im busy - it will probably take him at least two rounds to kill me!

Domitius aka Dukkan |

Yeah, I can keep 'im busy - it will probably take him at least two rounds to kill me!
(nods, does math)
"Carry the one... OK, two rounds should do it!"
/thumbs_up :D
EDIT: Hey, that did just fine, from the look of it! :)

Domitius aka Dukkan |

OK, so now I am imagining the ancient SNL skit where John Belushi is Vito Corleone in a group therapy session, and Dom is sitting in on it. Way to jam up the works, GM! :P

GM Silversong |

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Arani Thorindal |

Happy Holidays Everyone!

GM Silversong |

I'm kind of rethinking the possible holiday hiatus I mentioned a few weeks back. It looks like I'll be online fairly often over the next week, so I might as well keep posting. Combat's winding down, and maybe we can get some downtime things worked out over the next few days. I won't be expecting everyone to post, so don't feel obligated to check in and/or post every single day.

GM Silversong |

Planning to push us forward a bit more tomorrow.
Looks like Monday is going to be an ugly weather day in my area, so I'll likely stay home. Library's closed on Wednesday for New Year's Day, so it looks like close to an every other day posting schedule for me for the next several days.

GM Silversong |

Happy New Year!
Hopefully, we'll get back down to business on 1/2.
