"Centipedes are arthropods, meaning they have a hard exoskeleton and their bodies are divided into segments." Idichi shouts continuing his bardic performance with a free action.
He shoots at the centipede again with his crossbow.
Attack:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Ah, I see. I am not used to DMs rolling damage when the attacks miss. I presumed that there were damage rolls only because the attacks had hit. Since I was at 3 hit points, taking 18 would put me at -15, and failing the subsequent stabilization roll would put me at -16, which would kill me.
Typically, in every other forum game I play, the DM liberally uses the Edit feature or the Preview button and doesn't bother rolling damage for attacks that don't hit.
Jabari wipes down his khopesh and stows it. "Nasty beast," he says. "Nearly got me there for a moment." He pauses to look around the courtyard, then says to Idichi, "Ah... where should we be looking next?"

Idichi walks cautiously up to the centipede and squats down next to where it has died.
"Many thanks Aya! Hopefully your ice blast will keep the beast cold enough to not spoil and I can truly inspect it when we're done. The insects of Osirion alone are so fascinating. I wonder what other wondrous creatures we'll come across next?
Surveying the area and seeing the crypt Idich says, "I think we should continue on and inspect the crypt. We might as well do it while we're here."
Idichi casts detect magic and looks to see if he notice from the crypt or surrounding areas
I vote crypt, but I'm also ok with going elsewhere.
no problem, but my cold magic won't preserve it. The spell was a basic one i just learned. She looks around a bit before speaking again, the Crypt sounds fine with me
A stone altar sits upon a raised stone platform in the centre of this square room. Caryatid columns carved in the likenesses of male and female figures with their arms crossed over their chests and khopeshes or ankhs in their hands stand at each corner of the platform. Empty torch holders are built in all four of the room's corners. Two stairways exit the room-one climbs to the south, while the other descends from this chamber to the north. Resting on top of the altar is a wrapped mummy.

Very curious! I wonder what happened to this mummy's original resting place for them to need a new one. Hmmm, no matter they don't seem to have anything of importance.
Turning to his companions he asks, "Should we head north or south. I believe it best to take the stairs to the south, because it seems all trouble begins when we descend."
Aya moves to a new position, and tries casting Sleep on the odd attacker

DESCRIPTION
A sleep spell causes a magical slumber to come upon 4 HD of creatures. Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first. Among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell’s point of origin are affected first. HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted. Sleeping creatures are helpless. Slapping or wounding awakens an affected creature, but normal noise does not. Awakening a creature is a standard action (an application of the aid another action). Sleep does not target unconscious creatures, constructs, or undead creatures.
