Omor Al'Jamous |

WTF? The messageboard ate my post. Please forgive me if this turns up twice but I'm trying to recreate it.
This is interesting, thinks Omor as he looks at the shield in the corner. He takes a torch out of his backpack and places it, unlit, in the holder. He then turns around and imagines how the torch would cast light into the room.
"Disable the trap or set it off intentionally? " Omor asks. "We could clear out of the room if necessary. I'm betting that whatever is in a trapped chest would be exactly the kind of stuff that we are tasked to bring back to the surface. "

Doxania |

"No need to leave the room, from what I can tell, this trap is really just meant to damage the things it holds. I'll try again to disarm it but no promises it won't hurt the item."
Sighing, she says while working on the trap, " Very sorry if it doesn't go like it should. Sometimes it just can't be helped."
Her hand slipping at the wrong time, Dox flinches as the trap goes off. "Well, that didn't work. Hopefully it isn't too bad." She mutters to herself.
Sighing loudly, she says louder, "Didn't work. Sorry, but look at what was in there."
Disarm Trap: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Donnen Phelps |

Donnen keeps his distance, and approaches when Dox calls with curiosity in his eyes.

Doxania |

Dox rummages in her bag for a cloth, reaches into the chest and pulls out first 1 book and then another. "Apparently there were potions in there also but when I couldn't disarm the trap, I think they broke. Please be careful, we don't want to touch it incase they were bad potions. Anyone know what these are?" She asks, holding up one of the books.
I wonder how much these are worth. she thinks as she leafs through one of the books.
After they look through the books some, Dox gets up and heads through the open door way. As always, scanning for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Appraise : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Looking for traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Omor Al'Jamous |

After Doxania opens the chest, Omor takes the torch from its holder and moves over to the group. "I bet historians or scholars would learn a lot from what is in those books, " Omor thinks aloud.
Is Osiriani the same as Common for this campaign? I didn't specify in making Omor so I want to know if he can read the books or not.
Once everybody finishes looking around the room, Omor joins Dox in the hallway, looking into the next room.

Daniel Penfold 351 |

@Omor- Osiriani is an ancient language so you would have to take it as a language to read the books.
A7- Four funerary masks hang on one wall of this short hallway, staring down as if in judgement at anyone standing in the corridor.
A8: A table displaying a three dimensional diorama occupies much of the north side of this room. Three shields with different designs are displayed upon a rack against the east wall, while various weapons hang from another rack along the south wall. Arrayed around the room are five small chests and a clay urn.

Doxania |

"Hopefully i'll have better luck checking these chests." Dox says as she approaches the first of the chests.
Looking for traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Looking for traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Looking for traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Looking for traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Looking for traps for the urn...: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Didn't know if you'd want all rolls for each at once or how you'd like to do it. She'll start with the first on left and work around.

Donnen Phelps |

Please assume Donnen collected the books to read or sell later.
Donnen tries to move fast before any enemy attacks. He assumes crane style and fights defensively with his madu.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (6) = 11 Sneak
(my header reflects the AC when fighting defensively in crane style - CSFD)

Omor Al'Jamous |

Surprised by the sudden movement from the diorama, Omor thinks about what he knows about the dolls.
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 The real question here is are the dolls undead or do they appear to be. If so, Omor will go all in on the attack.
Omor springs into action, drawing his dagger move action and moves forward into the room, closing on the animated dolls. replace standard action with a move. Map updated with Omor's location.

Doxania |

"Oh, hello. Isn't that a surprise!" Doxania exclaims as the diorama comes to life. She watches as two of them go down from her teammates hands, while the last one makes an attack on Omo.
Dox grabs her sling from it's holster and makes an attack at the remaining doll.
sling attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Donnen Phelps |

Donnen keeps fighting defensively on his same style.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
If he’s able to five-foot-step to flank, his attack is more dangerous.
Sneak: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Donnen Phelps |

Donnen knees down to inspect the creatures while waiting for the others to recover.
We should probably finish inspecting these chests and move ahead. Things here are already starting to become dangerous, if even the dioramas want to kill us.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Omor Al'Jamous |

"Nice work all!" Omor exclaims.
Once it looks like the danger has passed, Omor sheathes his dagger and rubs the area where the doll slammed him with his free hand. "That will hurt for a few days but I think I'll be OK. Unfortunately, I doubt we have seen the worst of this."
Omor helps Donnen and the rest of the team search the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Daniel Penfold 351 |

You do not find any traps. Most of the arms and armour are mundane but the khopesh and spear are both masterwork. The composite shortbow is serviceable but its string needs replacing. The scarab shaped steel shield is also masterwork.
The chests are of good craftmanship but less ornate than the one you found previously. The chests appear to have been sealed with wax. The clay urn is also sealed with wax.

Doxania |

Dox replaces her sling on her belt while looking around the room, wondering if anything was worth keeping to sell.
"Well, I do believe that is a first for me... Diorama's coming to life."
Sighing, Dox kneels next to the last chest and the urn. "The urn and last chest is sealed with wax. Do ya'll want to open them or not?" Dox asks the group.
Appraise/anything of value? (other than the shield and bow): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Unless anyone objects, she'll open them.

Omor Al'Jamous |

Omor swings the khopesh awkwardly. "This certainly seems to be nicely made but I don't think I could use it during a battle."
Coming over and looking at the chests with Dox, Omor makes a suggestion. "Maybe we just open one chest and see what is in there. After that, we can decide whether or not to break the seals on the rest or bring them to the surface as-is."

Donnen Phelps |

My only concern would be if breaking the wax would somehow be offensive... I mean, religiously speaking. I don't want to mess up with the gods, magic and traps. - says Donnen, in truth more concerned with Omor's reaction. The brawler approaches them to help inspect and starts collecting the things of value.

Donnen Phelps |

Spellcraft, Aya? Where are your skills, by the way? I couldn't find on your profile :)

Omor Al'Jamous |

Omor tries to reassure Donnen.
"I would not worry too much about that, Donnen. Respect for the dead and the intentions of the Lady of Graves extends to people or humanoids who were once alive and would move on to the afterlife. Goods, items, or object aren't the focus of reverence. Tombs, Graveyards, or a Necropolis like this are sort of a special case but trying to recover antiquities should not be an issue as long as the dead themselves are respected."
Hope that helps but I don't think we are out of line here.

Doxania |

"Ok, I'm going to open this sealed chest and we can carry the sealed urn out, if you want." Dox works carefully at the seal of the chest.
Once she's opened it and checked the insides, she'll be ready to move on out of this room.

Omor Al'Jamous |

Omor peers over Dox's shoulder while she breaks the seal on the chest. I wonder what could be in here. It is obviously important if they took the time to seal it. he thinks.
Please don't be explosive!
"Nice work, Dox! Very steady hands, " he says to her as she works on the chest.

Donnen Phelps |

Ok, guys... Let's collect them and get on our way. - says Donne, looking at Aya - Thanks for trying, Aya. I'm sure we will find out soon what this shield is about. Does anyone want to use it on the meanwhile? Otherwise, I'll just store it for later.

A massive mirror stretches across the southern wall of this chamber, flanked by two statues. The statue to the east depicts a tall, gaunt woman in a flowing, hooded gown, holding an hourglass. The figure to the west is that of a jackal headed man carrying a sceptre or staff in his hand. Stone double doors, standing slightly ajar, lead to the east and west. A third set of double doors exits the room to the north. Torch holders sculpted into the shape of bird skulls are built into each corner, and a thin layer of dust covers every surface.

Doxania |

"Well, this room is interesting. Any ideas on the significance of this set up?" Dox asks noone in particular.
I sure hope these statues don't come to life like the dolls did... Dox thinks to herself as she carefully steps into the room. Looking around, she'll search the area for traps and then head to the east door.
Perception(even though she shouldn't konw much, maybe she knows something?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Looking for traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Omor Al'Jamous |

Omor looks around the room, trying to see what he might find.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 Not sure if Omor needs the check to notice the footprints or not.
Moved myself over to the eastern statue.
Once he sees the statue of Pharasma, he spends some time on that, making a short devotion to the Lady of Graves, then determining what he might learn from the statue.
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
"This is most interesting, agreed. Dieties of two different aspects of death so close together isn't something I'd think is very common."

Doxania |

"Look on the floor, there are tracks here. Can anyone identify them?" Dox asks, pointing towards the floor. Pulling her dagger, Dox makes her way to the eastern double doors, pushing them open and looking inside.
As always, looking for traps: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
