Enchanter Tim |
Putting forth Jalal Hammada, an Elven Lorekeeper Oracle of the Ancestors.
Crunch isn't quite finalized, but mostly there.
Aleon Hunter |
He is all finished, all three questions should be covered in my backstory, but in case it it not clear I will answer them here.
1. Visual description of character (feel free to post link to images if you have something specific in mind) and also adding personality
His avatar describes his looks a lot, I also posted a height and weight in his profile. He is 125, but he is also and elf and elves age a lot slower than humans. But he is also fast and will sometimes rush into things and and do so while avoiding all the traps and a lot of danger.
2. Why do you care about tomb exploring? Why risk death at the hands of ancient traps or untold horrors buried away? Isn't there an easier way for your character to make a living? Is it just greed for gold or something else?
Aleon loves exploring is fasinated by the undead and lives for danger. It is not the money that motivates him, the money would be nice, but it's Aleons love for thing that drives. He appreciates well planned traps and will try to do anything he can to avoid them.
3. Brief history as to how you heard about lottery and came to be in Wati
He came to Wati in a contest, the winner would go to Wati, the coliseum paid for his trip there, he also has a note for the king there for his permission to explore the tombs.
Other stuff, he is a gunslinger, but he also loves animals and excels at two-weapon fighting as well and he plans to multi-class Gunslinger-Ranger. He will be good at both guns and swords, not quite as good as a gun as other gunslingers as multi-classing means not as specializing, but pretty darn good.
Although he starts out with the rifle, I plan on getting the pepperbox for him eventually 3000 GP.
Ib Brewleaf |
Ib notices lots of adventurers in the tavern. He sees a pretty pirate, a nexian wizard, and lots of elves. Wow lots of people here He says to the tavern keeper.
Well yes little one, we have much to offer here in Wati The tavern keep responds.
Soon you all will know who has been accepted and to whom will go back to your own lands. The tavern keep says to Ib then moves off to take the order of several dwarves.

Farooq El-Amin |
Well it looks like tough compitition, but Farooq would like to toss his hat into the ring.
Farooq the Flamible is a middle aged human wizard and scholar. Crunch is mostly done in the profile and here is his fluff reposted:
In short, Farooq is a distracted scholar. He is prone to deep contemplation when not actively engaged, and has the tendency to trip over things in plain sight and walk into door jambs or markets stands. In conversation, he has a plethora of useful tidbits of arcane knowledge and is more than happy to ramble on until someone tells him to stop. He believes that knowledge must be shared so that it is not lost and freely gives up his, whether anyone has asked or not.
Farooq's family have always adhered to the old ways. As a devotee of Ra, he has spent a life time looking for information regarding the ancient deity and seeking out his long lost places of worship. With the shift in policy over the last few years, Farooq has been taking advantage of the increased access to once restricted tombs and necropolises. The great necropolis of Wati has drawn him to the city with the hope of gaining access to the untouched relics and remnants of his lost religion. Rumours of the undead monstrosities lurking behind the wall have put him on the look out for stout fellows watch his back as we investigates the ruins.
Alzaar Na' Keth |
Alzaar waits near the area where the lottery results are revealed, casually tossing a dagger in the air and catching, over and over. His eyes scour the crowd, gazing at his competition.
Too much new blood... Half of these kids will fall to the first trap they come across. I wish them well, though. He thinks to himself, seeing the mass if foreigners at this particular lottery drawing.
He deftly sheathes his dagger after a while, and starts making his way to a stall that is selling cold water.
Aleon Hunter |
well then full concept, gunslinger-guntank 12-13 and ranger 6-7, going for undead as first favored enemy on top of the trait I have. Going to excel at both melee in ranged, not as specialized, but I have both if needed, and with heavy armor on and d10, he can take a hit. I'm even looking over the list of ranger spells deciding which ones will help me later on. Has on hot outfit, and at total of +7 against hot effects, desert runner, after all, tombs are found in the desert=}
Overcourse though, I'm sure though I have explained my concept through backstory and my last post of answering the three questions.
To all, good luck. Will have fun roleplaying with just about anyone if accepted, if not, maybe I'll see you in the future =).
Countessa De'Ambraith |
Well, concept for K'kleera is pretty straightforward. She's an archaeologist in the styling of a certain individual who wears a felt fedora and carries a bullwhip. :) She has a love of history and while she isn't adverse to collecting a little fortune and glory for herself, her primary goal is to collect artifacts for the museums.
Alzaar Na' Keth |
Alzaar is going to be a knowledge monkey and a trip/disarm build. With the way I have him set up and the progression I'll take with him he'll be mechanically sound, useful in and out of combat (with skills out the wazoo and a solid chance to trip and disarm almost anything he encounters), and have all the rogue-y goodness we'll need for traps and secret doors and the like. Spells are just icing on the cake.
If it'll help him get recruited, I can even give him a William Shatner accent.
Kor - Orc Scrollkeeper |
Krig Grimheart - Dwarf ranger (Dungeon Rover) Concept:
Combat focus: His main focus will be hunting with his crossbow, but when it comes to melee he will switch to attacking with 2-weapons which he is already quite skilled at.
Scorpion whisperer: I am planning to choose a giant scorpion for his 4th level animal companion. (I admit, the giant slug was tempting from a comical point of view, but the scorpion just seems to be more fitting of the campaign).
Skill focus: As an aspiring archaeologist. his knowledge skills (engineering, geology and dungeoneering) will be his primary focus.
Greyston Fenris |
Greyston is a physician/researcher he has some knowledge's/skills like heal but he'll be maxing out disable device/perception, hes main focus is support melee.
I'll also help the group with brew potion when we have a few hours downtime i'll be making up quite a few.
I've had a look through the submissions and there are some really good idea's here.
Lucendar |
Less than 9 hours to deadline. Lots of great concepts here. I have some really hard decisions to make! 23 applications for 4-5 slots! Oh boy! I really appreciate the turnout!

Hmmm 4d23 to the rescue!
Seriously Lucendar, you have a tough job.
Good luck everyone.
some dms actually do recruit that way. Though if All turned out to be the same class or all pure melee fighters, I would say roll 1d4 or 2d4 to determine which ones and then reroll 2d23. Not that Lucendar would do it that way, but if you are doing it that way, you might have to reroll or roll another die to determine which ones get the higher result. It would make decisions easier, but you would have to make sure things are balanced, and you may have to roll several dice.
Enchanter Tim |
Lucendar, please let me know if you have any questions about Jalal. I haven't had the time to polish the crunch, but I certainly would if he's chosen.
Jalal is a warrior-type, spurred on by his failure to save his uncle and his own cowardice as a child. He's learning to use his ancestral connections to help him in battle. As a Lorekeeper, he'll be gaining mostly defensive or unique utility spells like Haste or Fly from the wizard list.
Farooq El-Amin |

I think you missed Farooq from your updated submission list. He is very much still interested.

As always, thank you for all the great applications. I was amazed by the turnout and I hope those who applied to DM Wellard's game get in there, if you didn't make it here. There is no science to this process so I just went with my gut instinct and went through various permutations. No throwing stones now! Hope you all find a game.
The chosen 5 players are:
Alzaar Na'Keth
Rhade Poshment
Anka Sarraf
Kakra
Jalal Hammada
Please report to Discussion thread Link
If anyone drops out, I have a great pool of alternates.
