Due to the restriction on the Arcane Armor Training Feat, it would be 5th level before he’d be able to start wearing armor without fear of ASF. Elven chainmail would be ideal, but a chain shirt can serve as a bridge until that’s available.
I chose the foresight subschool for the Prescience ability to help solve a stylistic problem. In combat, an old school elf would be switching easily between sword, bow and spell. But it is tough to be an effective archer without at least the Precise Shot feat. Being able to use Prescience to improve chances to hit with a bow would go a long way to bridge that until he could get the feats.
If he could have one trait, I would take Talented. I would love to be able to drop a single skill point into Perform (singing) and Perform (dancing) and get them at +5 and +4 respectively. Maybe one point in Perform (oratory) as well.
Having double digit Stealth and Perception (to represent their early detect secret doors and surprise abilities) was important to me. Making him a ranger rather than a fighter helped, as did the cat familiar. I also went with a familiar rather than a bonded object because the reliance on a mulligan to be able to cast seemed out of sync with a member of a race that is supposed to be inherently magical.

Yeah Arcane Armor Training is one of the hassles for me when trying this concept too.
That trait is fine with me but you need additional traits as a feat to get it.
