Galerio |

"It sounds like Bard's Gate is where we need to head, though I believe we should wait until Naomi is fully healed so we can travel as a group. This mystery of the necromancer is still puzzling however. Could any of these walking dead that we have encountered be him?"

brvheart |

You don't think so Galerio. It appears as if whatever this tomb was meant to hold has been allowed to escape.

Naomi Chadwick |
again, like herding cats, at least Jarvis hasn't said anything stupid, I like him better this way, the strong silent type
watching the boys stand in a dark crypt and talk about the finer points of leaving today or tomorrow Naomi interrupts and asks
"I'm feeling a draft, do any of you mind if we get out of this crypt and continue our conversation on our way back to the village. Whether we leave today, worn out and spell-less or tomorrow, fresh and well rested; we will leave from the village after saying good by to our hosts"
then Naomi, sending her dancing lights ahead to make it darker for those who dilly dally, walks to the exit and toward the village; hoping the boys will follow.
I wonder if there is a spell I can learn to make alcohol instantly. If there was beer available I could get them to go anyplace I wanted. We would call the spell 'beer bread crumbs for boys'

Jarvis Ward |

"I have plenty of resources left so I am all for Bard's Gate as well, maybe we can trade in our broken bard for a new one eh?"

Naomi Chadwick |
broken bard?
as Noami walks out of the crypt into the daylight the sun warming her face, she hears a voice coming out of the darkness, hearing Jarvis spout drivel she calls back over her shoulder in a sing song voice
"Yes Jarvis I was referring to the people who mattered. Why don't those who want to leave today start walking. Cyrus and I, and whoever else wants to eat will stay and can wait till tomorrow morning; while we let the village gather what food they will trade to us to eat on the road. It should take them several hours. I have 3 days rations with me, how much do you have?"

brvheart |

Ok, as it seems the party is separating (dm's delight here) who is going today and who tomorrow?

Naomi Chadwick |
Brv. Since Naomi is from Bard’s Gate is it ok if she knows a little about locations? I was thinking she would tell whoever is leaving today to meet whoever is staying in tent city at, “Fort Rendezvous, a combination of inn and trading post” the evening after the day they arrive. It should be a four day trip for both groups, that is if they don’t catch up on the road. First group traveling at 20ft second group moving at 30 ft. we’ll make sure both dwarves go with the first group.

brvheart |

Leaving today: Ulfgard, Jarvis, Turvijagal and Hagrym
Tomorrow: Cyrus and Naomi
What of Galerio and Shandar? Galerio seems to be at least leaning to waiting until tomorrow.

brvheart |

Hey, you could all get lucky on the wandering monster checks for three days!

Galerio |

Leaving today: Ulfgard, Jarvis, Turvijagal and Hagrym
Tomorrow: Cyrus and Naomi
What of Galerio and Shandar? Galerio seems to be at least leaning to waiting until tomorrow.
Galerio stares off into space for a few minutes, contemplating who knows what while his hair seems to subtly shift in color...or maybe it is just a trick of the light and shadows. He then snaps out of his reverie and indicates that he will stay until the bard is ready for travel.

brvheart |

So Ulfgard, Jarvis, Turvijagal and Hagrym start back on the road to Bard's Gate. Meanwhile the hamlet is having small party for the others in celebration! Did someone say beer?

Naomi Chadwick |
I like the way that dwarf thinks
Naomi, steps beside Ulfgard, matching his pace and smiles as she asks
”Have you been to Bard’s gate before good ranger? There is a conglomeration outside of the cities wall called ‘tent city’ as you can guess it is exactly as it sounds. With one exception and that is “Fort Rendezous;” an inn and trading post that I think may appeal to your sensibilities. We can meet you there at dusk the day after you arrive. That is if we don’t catch you on the road. We may be able to move a little quicker due to longer shanks.”
as their friends head to her home town the rest head back to the village, where it appears there is a party going on. Naomi calls her mandolin out of the ether and plays along with the music.

brvheart |

random check Ulfgard and co: 1d10 ⇒ 2 day one. Peaceful day. With the late start you make about 12 miles and get back to the main road.

brvheart |

Whenever you are ready you can make your next save Naomi again at +8

Hagrym |

Hagrym nods at the remainder of the group and begins striding boldly down the path toward Bard's Gate. "We did good back there. I'm afraid those undead would have eventually stormed that tiny town. Dwerfater is pleased that we destroyed all those abominations, I'd wager," the dwarf says with a smile.
"A cold mug of grog will be delicious," he muses, happy that he was almost back to civilization.

Jarvis Ward |

"Yes I agree with you Hagrym I think it was best to deal with the retched creatures under the town, especially the ghouls, those things can bring many troubles. The wonders of a large city would be great to behold, is there a large dwarf population in Bard's Gate?"
Looking at the paladin at first the both dwarves as he asks his question.

Hagrym |

"There's quite a few of us running around the town, that's for sure. Don't know if I would call our number 'large,' but you'll definitely notice us. Have you never been to the city, Jarvis? It's quite pleasant there. A good mix of people, several temples, always something going on..."

Naomi Chadwick |
which group took the palanquin, did anyone figure the value of the loose items, picks and ropes and such so we could trade it for food
its too bad they were in such a hurry, this party was fun
After Naomi spends the evening playing her Mandolin and dancing at the party the village threw in appreciation for claring the crypt. She eventually went to sleep at the temple, so Almery Burgand could keep an eye on the wound, when she woke up the wound seemed
fort.: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 well it was a good idea
much more inflamed and infected
con. damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2, dex. damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
feeling weak and dizzy, she thanks Almery for his help
thank you Father Almery for all you've done, We really appreciate it and hope things go better for the village especially with the oxen and extra help from the rogue. with your permission, as week as I am feeling already we will use the horse for our trip to Bard's Gate
then turning to Lucky and the remaining team she asks
shall we saddle the horse and head that way? we'll take turns riding to keep everyone rested
does anyone have gear they want to load on the horse to change their speed from 20 ft to 30 ft,?
gathering her gear then going to the shed she saddles the horse and is ready to leave for Bard's Gate
edit: I've recorded the info. on Naomi's page, I will adjust the HP, AC and skills as needed.

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Enjoying the laughter of the evening, Cyrus passed the night playing some friendly games of chance with the townsfolk, but made sure to take none of their money. He enjoyed gambling, always had, but seeing the rundown state of the town weighed heavily upon him and he could not bring himself to make a profit off of these people.
~Maybe a few hands in Bard's Gate, but we shall see.~
When Naomi came out of the church, Cyrus could tell by her unsteady stance and paleness of skin that yesterday's exertions may have pushed her recovery back.
As she loaded up the horse, Cyrus quickly went to work making a mixture of herbs and boiling water, a variation of the tea he had brewed for her yesterday.
heal: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Cat's claw and ashroot with lemon. I will definitely need to resupply my bag once we reach Bard's Gate if she doesn't get better soon.
Handing her the steaming mixture, Cyrus looked into her eyes as well to see if they were shifting from healthy white to a yellow tint as the illness fought to reassert itself. Seeing no traces of discoloration, Cyrus thanked Zors for some small miracles and stood ready to leave when she was.
"Thankfully, it seems I packed light for this trip."
Feeling a heat coming up from the broken scepter, Cyrus reached down and pulled it from the makeshift sling on his hip.
~By the gods, what was this thing?~
Unsure of how he knew what he must do, he placed his hand on the infected bite, while keeping a firm grasp on the scepter with his other hand.
"Faoi bhfianaise na gréine , a dhéanamh ar fad."
A brief pulse of white light into the bard's arm and the sudden departure of the heat from the scepter told Lucky that whatever had spurred the relic had now passed.
"I don't know what to say to explain that, but I don't think that arm will be bothering you anymore."

brvheart |

Lucky feels a healing surge from the scepter with that nat 20! Seems he could channel one last remove disease from it.

Naomi Chadwick |
nice! did I mention how much I love not taking 10's and 20's? I'm assuming that the stats will restore at 1 point per day as before or did they all return also?
this must be what a new born kitten feels like
feeling the powerful effect of Lucky's prayer, Naomi, restored to health but still feeling weak, smiles looking at the faint white scar that is all that remains of the burning festering infection and says to Cyrus
wow! I've never felt anything like that. The rotting disease is gone; I'm still a little weak but shall we leave the horse here for these poor people and walk to Bard's gate?
not waiting to hear the answer, knowing Almery would refuse any gifts she leads the grey mare to the priest's children and hands the little girl the reins and says
tell your father one last parting gift for his kindness.
shouldering her pack, turning to the boys she says
come on boys were burning daylight and we have a couple of dwarves and a village idiot to catch.

Galerio |

At seeing Naomi healed, Galerio smiles deeply.
"Lucky, you continue to amaze me. I am glad I stayed behind to witness such good fortune...and to see how formidable you are with cards. I will know not to bet real coin with you in the future. Hopefully your luck will extend to our journey to Bard's Gate. I am looking forward to seeing the fabled city."

"My thanks, but I have no idea what triggers this relic. When we faced the skeletons in the well, it thrummed with power, but when stood among the undead swarm of bats, it remained cold and lifeless. Even now, I think of what I did besides wishing that my brews could aide Naomi and can think of nothing that would have made it flare with power again. Although, if it can work such cures in its broken state, I wonder what it could do when whole."

brvheart |

You pretty much drained the last of its power healing Naomi, but it should serve as a good model for forging a new one. The dwarves should be able to tell you more when you get to Anvil Plunge.
The villagers load you up with enough food for all for the trip even those that left the day before.

Jarvis Ward |

"No I have never been to Bard's Gate, but it sounds like a great place to continue my arcane studies. This trip has been uneventful so far, I thought it would be more dangerous, I suppose the other group should be okay without any of the fighter types."

Hagrym |

"They'll be fine so long as they stay on the road. Not many problems come onto the main pathway. If they resist an urge to leave the path to explore, I'll bet they catch up to us by tomorrow."

brvheart |

On day two Ulfard's party makes 16 miles while the other party makes 18.

Day 3 random checks
random Ulfgard group: 1d10 ⇒ 8
random Lucky group: 1d10 ⇒ 6
Ulfgard group runs into a few travelers coming from Bard's Gate, but nothing threatening. They make another 16 miles, but rations are getting rather thin.
Lucky group spots some wild game off in the distance as they travel. Makes another 24 miles and catching up! Both groups should arrive in Bard's Gate around the same time on day four.

"Lucky" Cyrus |

As the days to Bard's Gate passed, Cyrus will spend the time trying to get to know his companions better and in turn open up to them as well. Since the gods seem determined to draw him into this game, he wants to know more about those who will be sitting at the table with him.

Jarvis Ward |

"Yes I agree we need to bring more rations next time, maybe we were too rash, not that I would ever admit that to Naomi! Tomorrow we should make it to town and can get a good hot meal then."

Naomi Chadwick |
The first day out of Lessef was a beautiful sun shiny day, Naomi had a spring in her step, relieved that the ordeal with the ghoul bite was over still tired and a little dizzy she and Cyrus walked together behind Galerio and Shandar.each taking a turn tell a story about themselves
” …Stina and I just kept playing. By the time nannie figured out the armor I was wearing wasn’t my old home-made burlap-sack armor, but one I had stolen from the traveling opera troupe; It was too late to return it. They had already left town. I honestly have no idea what there Halfling did for a costume in the next town, he probably had to wear real armor under all those lights, he must have been miserable!”
serves the little jerk right,
After they had stopped the second day and were enjoying some boiled potatoes, pickled eggs and a rabbit Galerio shot with his crossbow. Naomi was continuing a story she had started earlier
”…So my dad said ‘no, no, no,, hold the bow firmly but don’t try and strangle it, your too tense you must be able to bend your elbow.’ Then he would be all ‘don’t jerk the string you must release it gently, your fingers aren’t in the right place’ and he would look at me and sigh saying ‘Naomi you have to much restless energy, you need to calm down’ so I looked up at him with my big brown eyes and told him ‘daddy if you let me take sword lessons it will burn off all the extra energy and I will do much better practicing my cello, honest daddy’”
I almost got too good with the thing, If I hadn’t intentionally made mistakes he would have never let me try the bass
On the third day as they were rolling up their knapsacks Naomi continued
”I never did tell my dad the reason I kept taking music lessons that fifth year wasn’t so I could play all the string instruments but so I could keep taking sword lessons. He would have been beside himself. He almost came unglued when I joining the ‘Society of Arms’ and spent two years as a ‘Free Defender’ but he always said ‘find something you love to do, get as much education as you can, then do it for as long as you can' somehow, I know he thought it would be the cello not adventuring. Now you know why I won’t have you all sleeping at the house. I may drop in and visit, but the less mom and dad know the better, especially dad, he would go get his rapier and try to come along to keep an eye out”
I know ya love me dad, but I can’t be your little girl forever! Have to grow up sometime.
