Frida has worked with a variety of metals and stone in her time. However she has plans for a warhammer that she keeps with her at all times, should she need it. She long ago heard of a rare metal called Nexavarian Steel. She would craft her hammer out of this cold metal, imbuing it with runes of protection. Along the handle she would inscribe the names of her parents (Anvil and Delilah Kilsen) as well as her mentor who taught her about Torag and the forge. (Advarin Dughill). This hammer would be her greatest achievement in forging as well as a personal testament to her talent and passion for the forge and her god.

Andreas Vaughn |

I'm afraid I'm not going to have time to finish the character's appearance or personality tonight, though the background and crunch are finalized at this point and presented on the Alias profile. I shifted too many meetings and errands to today so that I could have tomorrow free.
In short, Andreas is an outgoing individual willing to step into social situations. Though he does not seek out the role, he is willing to accept the burden of leadership in situations as needed. He's generally polite and courteous, though he can't keep himself from cracking the occasional joke or acting rashly from time to time. This has been known to land him in some tough spots over the years. He's also prone to flirting with beautiful woman; one benefit of being a protector of beauty is the opportunity to enjoy its presence in the world around him.
Also included on the profile page is the re-fluffed campaign trait, as well as the variant options used in the character's stats.

wolfman1911 |

I will have the mechanical details up later tonight, but I'm thinking I may change Garulk's Patron to Endurance, and mention that he believes himself to be a cleric of Zon-Kuthon, or at least, a version of Zon-Kuthon that is more about self reliance and enduring pain and is fairly silent on the issue of torturing others.

wolfman1911 |

Here is what I have for submission. Since he's a lot more buff than spellcasters tend to be, I intend at the first level up to take a level in barbarian, and then jump back to witch for the rest of the way. As yo might notice, his biggest flaw is that he is about as charismatic as. . .well, as someone that cuts into themselves for the magical powers they derive from it.

Garulk is an orc from one of the tribes living in the Land of Linnorm Kings. His upbringing was fairly stndard, for an orc, he was beaten and bullied in hopes that he would one day become strong enough to do the bullying himself. He was regarded as a failure because he never did.
One day, Garulk managed to get far enough away from his tribe to have a moment to himself, among the trees He heard a voice speaking to him, it told him to make a mask, and that it would offer him guidance. With little else to do, he grabbed the axe he'd brought with him, cut down a nearby tree, and set to work carving a mask out of it. As he worked, his own mind seemed to receed, being subsumed by the voice that spoke to him as he worked. Eventually it seemed as though the voice had taken over, and was carving the mask itself, leaving him free to watch and listen.
The voice told him that it knew how he'd suffered, the pain he'd endured, but that it was for a purpose. The pain made him stronger. It told him that there was magical power in inflicting pain on himself and others, and with that power, he would do great things. Finally, the voice told him to seek out the human named Savol, the Ulfen king would make Garulk a hero and king to orcs, humans and Fey.
Garulk awoke to find a finished mask in his hands, it was grotesque, but in its own way, Garulk found it beautiful. It was almost the size of a shield, but it fit his face perfectly. It looked angry, with narrowed eyes and a screaming maw. Feeling that there was something missing with it, he cut himself across the arm, and sprinkled his blood upon the mask. Satisfied, Garulk put the mask on and then set out to find this Savol. He never returned to his tribe.
He believes that his patron is Zon-Kuthon, and that he is a cleric. He believes that his body is his divine focus.

Thanks for waiting patiently through too much deliberation.I spent so much time pouring over posts, backgrounds and answers that my wife took my tablet away
Since I couldn't cut it down to six I've decided to run with eight I've run successful games with up to twelve people before but they got a bit hairy.
Final choices:
Thanks everyone for posting such great character ideas. If you don't mind I'll pm someone if a spot is vacated.
I'll have the discussion and gameplay thread started in soon.

Zethyris |

Sorry, I meant to ask about that, as I don't have much experience in the Pathfinder system.
While I'm not planning on multiclassing, there aren't really any other racial abilities to change it. I guess I'll just swap it to another class. Thanks for the catch.
Looks like a good group we have here. I'm looking forward to this.

DM - ARC |

Due to real life we've lost one of our players so we're looking for a replacement player for our game.
The character we've lost was our only healer so those applications will obviously carry more weight,
A bit of information abut this game:
-You will take the part of a group of trusted champions of a newly crowned Linnorm King in his crusade to reclaim his ancestral lands from the witches of Irrissen
-This game is approaching its once year anniversary later this month
-we try to keep the pace up to one post a day but I like to think that I am very considerate of stuff that slows it down (especially since my own life can sometime cause gaps in progressing e story forward
-experience and WBL is being abstracted, the party levels at appropriate times for the story or if I feel that the players themselves have earned rewards due to role playing and interactions and I try to provide suitably thoughtful or at least useful rewards
To make things interesting my players will have majority decision in choosing the new recruit

Rutilux |

Wouldn't mind throwing my hat into the ring. Are you looking for character concepts at this point? Or is there a starting point for character buy (crunch), etc.?
I'd be glad to put together a healer for the team. I'll take a look at the pcs in three group so far and start cracking.
The PCs still around include:
Anastasiya - Human SorceressIsham Tabouri- Human Ranger (Freebooter)/Bard
Jediah Mountainstrong- Half Orc Fighter (Unbreakable)
Julian Itto- Human Ninja
Rutilux Talonn- Human Cavalier (Order: Sword)
Thorvald the Black Shield- Human Barbarian
Zethyris- Male Half Elf Rogue
Looking back at DM-Arc's original post, races are limited to Core and Orc. As Jediah says, 20 point build.
I'm not sure about alignment restrictions, but I think more than one of us would give a thumbsdown to any evil.
Our own concepts vary a LOT and I'm not sure I'd trust me to speak for the others on theirs :)

Song of Chiroptera |

Here's the basic concept...
Skallangbiorn son of Heiflmein
- Ulfen
- Cleric of Gorum
- Chaotic Neutral
- Stands at 6'4", dirty-blonde with blue eyes
- Speaks very little, but when he does it is to pray, call for glory in battle (pray) or to focus on the task at hand. He doesn't bandy words and will be as direct as a spear through cloth armor in any situation.
- Because of the nature of being a Blackraven scout, when he bonds to a group, he will swear to enter a battlefield first as herald and will not leave the field until all are safely removed (dead or alive)
Skall was born in Trollheim to a refugee woman held deep within the city. His mother was Ulfen, as was his father, but they had both been taken as slaves in Irrisen. Sacrificing his life, Heiflmein saw to it his wife was on board a driftwood raft set into the icy waters of the river leading to Trollheim. There she was taken in and sent to be held and observed by the authorities of the city.
But she was pregnant. And Skallangbiorn would not await his mother's release before being born. It was only a divine miracle that kept him alive in the dark and filthy cells below Trollheim...but Gorum knew the heart of his mother...knew the heart of his father... Great Gorum would see to it that another warrior would step forth into the world of the north. One more to the battle. One more to the call of iron.
Skallangbiorn's mother died during his birth, and the child was given over to other refugees to keep alive until their release. Word of how Skall's mother died spread, how she'd called out to Gorum, challenged him to stand before her and fight for the life of her child.
So as the years grew ever forward, Skallangbiorn followed the call of mighty Gorum. Honing his skills with sword and eventually with the divine magics granted him by his god. He found himself in the service of the Blackravens, attending the scouts on their sorties into Irrisen as both healer and fighter. No matter the odds, no matter the wounds, Skall found a way to return to Trollheim along with his party.
Within his survival and his ferocity and his fortitude, Skall was recognized by his superiors and chosen for a scouting mission into the heart of the west. Rumor had spread of a moutain among men. A leader whose blood flowed a deeper red and mixed with the Bear. A man who was being heralded as the next heir...perhaps the very leader the Blackravens had been seeking to lead them not on scouting missions but to strike at the core of the winter witch's usurped homeland. A leader that would take them into the heart of evil and gut it from within until the snows were black with demon blood.
That was where Skallangbiorn son of Heiflmein was to be found. Trudging through the snow into the no man's land ruled by warring bandits and other men with no spines for true battle. Skall was not the only man sent west to search...but by Gorum he would be the one to find this new leader and bring him east to glory!
Hope this works for a concept. Let me know if there should be any tweaks that would work best for your group. Also, let me know if you want a quick writing sample in character to get a flavor for his personality

Anastasiya |

a newly crowned Linnorm King
Wait ... when did that happen?

Heeey - a fellow Irrisenian! I'm all for another character with a local background.
I see you are aiming for a quiet and serious character. One thing I really love about this game is all the bickering and drama between player characters.
How would you as a player feel if my character, behind his back, described your character as the most stiff and bland person she has ever met?
How would your character react if he overheard it?

Song of Chiroptera |

He'd take it as a compliment. His face grim, jaw set, he'd say something like... "Thank you. There are too many weak-kneed, weak-minded fools playing at glory with high sounding words but whose spines bend like twigs in a gentle northern breeze. I will add color when I spill the blood of the enemy upon the snows of my homeland." Then continue with his silent contemplation of every soul in the room and identifying their weaknesses should battle ensue.
He's not a fluffy cleric. :) Here's some more visualization:
Praying in a snow covered forest, bare to the waist, great sword planted before him, steam from his body, two orc heads before him...
Lots of scars and ritual branding along his arms...symbols of Gorum for every battle survived...
I have him with a great sword decorated with the knuckle bones of orcs and hobgoblins, a morning star, cestus....instead of the gauntlets that go with his scale mail. Ya know, spiky items to celebrate his faith!
Let me know, I've got an opening scene i cooked up this morning i can include. A day on the journey west by himself, in search of a rumored king...

Rikar Sarakin |

Howdy, all - I don't have time for another PbP right now, but I can't restrain myself from cruising the recruitment forums sometimes.
And I'm glad I did, because it gives me the chance to give serious props to Song of Chiroptera. I'm in a PbP with his character, Kreig Ironhand, and he's a hell of a role-player. Great writing and dialogue, and a very well thought-out, internally consistent character with some serious depth. And he's a reliable poster.
I don't think I've played with any of you, so my input may not have much weight, but I was here so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cp.
[/unsolicited input]

We missed Months ago the Savol was a new king at his grand party I think.

Song of Chiroptera |

@Rikar - Thanks for the nice words, dude!
Thought I'd add some more to the pc study:
Skallangbiorn son of Heiflmein knelt in the snow and prayed. His bear skin cloak to the side where lay his scale mail and other weapons, his helm atop. Before him, his great sword was stabbed into the earth where the leather straps affixed to the hilt swayed in the wind, the gleaming knuckle bones of felled orcs clicking.
Snow was on the wind, gentle flakes blended with his dirty blonde hair and long beard and melted on his back where steam drifted upwards. About his neck a cord of leather bore more knuckle bones. Along his muscled arms were brands of various designs, all dedicated to Gorum, each brand the glory of another battle.
The forest was a deathly silence, but the Ulfen cleric knew they were out there among the trees. Skallangbiorn spoke gratitude to his patron and ceased his prayers. His right hand reached over and plucked his helm from the top of his gear. He wouldn't assume the glory from what was about to transpire. No. The helm would hide his face, only displaying the grim visage of Gorum. He would receive the glory, every drop of it.
The cleric stood slowly, drawing his great sword from the snow and earth to rest the blade on his bare shoulder. His breath smoking in the crisp air, he issued his challenge. "Should have taken me while I was on my knees, scum. But maybe you worship Gorum as well, eh? No glory to old Temperbrand if you kill a man unawares."
Skallangbiorn shifted his stance as the snow crunched under the heavy steps of the two orcs emerging from the trees. "I'll call on him my way, eh? You call on him yours. Then we'll see who had the right of it."
The first orc raised an axe and bellowed his challenge, then both charged.
Skallangbiorn said nothing, letting his blade and god given strengths speak for him.
___________________________________________________________________________ _________
Skallangbiorn son of Heiflmein knelt in the snow and finished his prayer. Blood stained the ground about him. The heads of two orcs rested before him, offerings to Gorum. His victory was a sign. Soon he would find the man. Soon he would return to his brothers on the watch.
Blood. Blood was his destiny.
