Round 1

Acting fast, Joza steps within a few paces of Voyla and fires her bow at the monstrous spider.

Attack (Longbow): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Unfortunately she trips over a small stone and nearly hits Voyla in the back instead.

"Eep, sorry!"

@Rahiv: sowwy, I don't know how I missed it

Neither Rahiv or Joza manage to hit the spider.

The catwoman's arrow even flies dangerously close Voyla's shoulder..

Only Warren can save them now!
Remember the terrain is difficult, so you move is halved

Warren moves up and.... closes the door and steps back. "Ok, I think the first thing we need to do is free Voyla here. While we do that, can someone get a torch or something burning so we can light the oil in there and maybe another flask of oil in case the spider moves and the webs don't catch fire."

Not sure if that will work DM, let me know and I'll retcon, but I don't want to play it's game and go in there and get stuck.

Voyla starts to take the web out of her face...
"I hope at least is good for my skin..."

Fine with me, Warren..

Warren starts pulling webbing from Voyla until she can move freely. "Ok, so here's what I think, there were two other doors out of there. We can try and access it from a different way or we can get some fire and more oil and burn all the webs out and then once they are gone move in there. I don't expect the spider to stay where it was in there, it might be behind the door when we open it. I just don't want to move in there and get caught in the webs, then I would be no good to you. What do you think?"

"I open the door, you squash the bug..."

"That works. Who is going to throw fire in there to ignite the webs? Keeping a torch handy might be good too."

"I can throw a torch," Joza offers. "It would be better to try that than to have Davlamin or Rahiv use their magic, which is more precious down here than a torch."

Ready when you are.

"Ok, let's do this. As soon as Voyla opens the door, throw the torch toward the oil in there. If it's behind the door, I'll attack it. You want to take a quick listen to see if it's there, before you open the door." Warren says as he nods to Voyla. He raises his shield and prepares to attack the spider if it is there.

After clearing the webs, Voyla gets ready, and when everyone else is, she opens the door.

When Voyla opens the door.. the spider isn't inside the room anymore!

"Light the place up!"

On Voyla's signal, Joza draws back her arm and heaves the burning torch into the room!

"At least this will make sure it has no lair to return to right away," she smiles with grim satisfaction.

Odd...where did the spider go?

"Odd...where did the spider go?"

Dav scratched his head.

Arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 I doubt this will apply to the spider but it's the only thing I can think of.

The other door from the room is still closed, and you don't think the spider would have open the door, get out of the room, and closed the door behind it.

There is nothing to hide in into the room either, just some old, rusty weapons caught in the webs and a small purse near the dead body.

Does the oil catch fire? Does the webbing?

The webs have caught fire, and some are still burning.
But there is no burned to death spider.

Once the webs no longer pose a danger, Warren steps into the room. "Would you care to look for traps while I cover your Voyla? Can you cover both of us from the door Zinli?"

Voyla nods, and after the fire subsides, go into the room.

"I believe we should be extremely careful: I don't think we are dealing with just a normal big ugly spider," the sorcerer suggests looking around for the spider as well for other spiders and undead.

Zinli answered with a bright smile:

"Yesssir! I'm on it sir!

"Yes...spiders aren't usually able to open doors on their own," Joza murmurs as she too readies her bow and covers the others as they carefully begin to filter into the room.

Rahiv looked upwards for his target as he reloaded the crossbow. If the spider was not in sight, it typically meant it would seek higher ground.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

No one finds anything.
A least you're sure that the spider isn't in the room anymore, and that there are no trap or secret doors.

"Somebody let the spider out. The question is which door? I'll keep an eye on both if you want to look for anything useful that was caught up in the webs before we burned them. The I say we try the door on the right." Warren says pointing to the west door.

"Let me go first."
Voyla moves into the room, examining it for traps or hidden spiders hanging from the ceiling.
Perception Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 (+4 if hidden)

Voyla sees the spider, at the other side of the corridor. As she was ready to put her foot down, she notice something on the floor.

There is probably another trap here...

But how can she disarm the trap while the spider is ready to attack?

"I'm guessing you've seen the spider correct?"

He was still puzzled as to why Voyla had stopped.

Voyla puts her foot down, slowly, out of the trap pressure plate.
She then points towards the spider for the others to see, without talking.
She then points towards the floor, makes a "cut throat" sign on the place, and signals them to go back.
She takes another oil flask out.

Warren points to Zinli and Joza and then the spider and swipes his finger across his throat as he stands next to the door.

Before I go doing anything to negate what Voyla is up to, is Warren wanting we ranged to try shooting the spider from where we're at? I'm not always the best at picking up on nonverbal cues in a text format :)

Voyla's plan is to lure the spider towards them, and maybe the trap.

You understood correctly Joza. Hit it and bring it to us and the trap or kill it where it stands.

Nodding with understanding, Joza takes a quick step forward and carefully aims her bow at the spider down the hallway. Motioning for Voyla to duck, she shoots...

The arachnid shoots another web, toward Voyla's legs

Voyla is stuck on the ground, and cannot move!

Voyla throws the (unlit) oil at the ceiling where the spider is. Maybe it will fall.
Attack Roll (to a Space AC 5): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 (didn't consider range penalty)

Well, the spider is now oily, and glistering.
Not sure it's an aesthetic improvement.

Zinli shot the spider monster, hoping that it would at least scare it:

-4 penalty for exceeding range increment, but use a Deadeye deed to resolve Zinli's attack against touch AC.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

So total roll is 13+2-4=11?

Zinli's bullet pass very close to the spider, drawing a little trail of blood without injuring it really.

Warren tries to break Voyla free from the webs and get her back in the room.

Str Check?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Rahiv steps a bit to the side to get a good aim on the spider and launches a bolt.

Bolt to arachnid: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Magic missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Dav fired off a magic missile at the giant spider.

Round 1

Hoping to make a better showing this time, Joza takes careful aim and fires off another arrow at the spider!

Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

@Warren: could I get a DC 13 Ref save so you aren't entangled too? The webs are quite sticky. A sword would be more helpful than your bare hands.

Rahiv's bolt is dodged at the last moment by the spider, which receive a magic missile and an very well-aimed arrow for her troubles.

Screech!

The spider is now barely alive...

Strangely, some mist seems to surround it now, coming outta nowhere.
Strangely too, from the trap right in front of Voyla, a spider-shaped mist pass from the small holes in the ground... and suddenly the mist become a real spider!

The second spider can't act, but you have no more LOS on the first spider

Voyla stops Warren.
"Use the sword on the spider, I'll release myself!"
She tries to remove the webs from herself.
What does she needs to roll?

As Warren tries to free Voyla, he quickly realizes he may get stuck as well and pulls his hands off of her slowly. "I'm sorry, I can't get you free without risking getting stuck myself. I'd gladly attack the spider unfortunately I can't get in there to do it. Maybe I can free you with my scimitar by cutting the webs away." Warren then tries to carefully removes the webs with his scimitar.
