I'm running Strange Aeons (for a group that includes Prazil and Kereek). I've run a chunk of Book 1 of Carrion Crown, but the campaign ended before things got too far.
I definitely understand Level 1 being a frustration. Personally, I'm fine starting at higher level, but that makes the planning more difficult on your end.

Prazil and I have done through bk3 of Carrion Crown... i would suggest starting at bk4, but those PCs would not play well together...Carrion Vrown resolution

OK, How about this:
"Raise your hand" if you're interested in pursuing a new game, probably a modified AP with a bunch of variant rules.
Please let me know the top 3 APs you'd be interested in trying out if you are.
I'll move us to another thread... I've decided that I want to do the thing.

I've played through Carrion Crown before (with Kat, as she mentioned and linked) and I've played through two other times as well. Never got past Book 3, but one of those other two games will get there soon.
It is, by far, my favorite AP. I never get tired of it or the themes and I have had a lot of fun in the subsequent games really "putting my foot in it" deliberately from time to time. =)
I think if you wanted to excise a book from an AP and start the group at level 4, CC is a great choice. Starting in Leipstadt with the break-in seems like a fine springing off point with Daramid bringing the group together rather than Petros.
Rankings
1. Carrion Crown
2. Any Other AP, no preferences really
3. Not Iron Gods though

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

PBPs I'm interested in playing in:
* Legacy of Fire
* Council of Thieves
* Serpent's Skull
* Carrion Crown -- I know Book 1 pretty well from running it, but more just general strokes of the later books as we didn't get to the point where I had to immerse myself in them.
* Skull & Shackles -- I ran all of Book 1 (and played through the start of Book 1 a couple times), but we crashed in Book 2. I also played bits of a modified Book 3 (I think). I feel we'd really have to have a lot of buy-in for this one.
* Shattered Star
* Wrath of the Righteous -- I played through Book 1 before the (awesome) game petered out early in Book 2. I'd play again, though I know some find the mythic aspects troubling (and I don't think mass combat translates well to PBP).
* Iron Gods -- Done a bit of Book 1
* Hell's Rebels -- I started a bit in Book 1, but game ended quickly. I read these all when they came out, so have some memories of it, but ... only some.
* Ironfang Invasion -- I'm running this one, and have read through it ... but I think based on reads it may be my favorite AP so far. Especially if we started with Book 3 (one of my favorite AP issues), I'd totally be down with playing this. A small part of the reason I stopped running this game was because I *really* wanted to start II.
Don't want to do PBPs (typically because I've played/am playing it, or been involved with DM'ing):
* Rise of the Runelords
* Curse of the Crimson Throne
* Second Darkness
* Kingmaker
* Jade Regent
* Reign of Winter (I'm running with Prazil and Kereek)
* Mummy's Mask
* Giantslayer
* Strange Aeons
* Hell's Vengeance -- Haven't played, but it's too evil for my playing style
* Ruins of Azlant

Ok... i am good for anything...
Except...
1) Hell's Vengeance. I don't enjoy evil campaigns. This is one I will not play.
2) Jade Regent. Oh, can I play second fiddle to the NPCs? Cool! Or not. Count me out...
3) Kingmaker. Twofold: we're just coming oit of it and, strangely, too sandboxy which can be tough to pbp...
4) Wrath of the Righteous. Mythic rules? Nein, Danke. PF is already system intensive, and Mythic exacerbates that...
Beyond those, Mott has a solid list :)

Irt Evil Campaigns...
Do you really want to go with me into the darkness of heart. Unrelenting wickedness where all hope only grows enough to be quashed? Shall we discuss in detail the violation and mutilation of other beings? Rape, murder, theft, deceit, and other ills are the 'normal' of evil. Despair and bleakness are the shining points of Evil. Why the fluke would anyone choose that game as 'fun'?

I've decided to host a Carrion Crown game, for which I will make the thread as soon as I am ready.
I am currently looking through different threads for fixes for a variety of problems I've seen in the books and thinking about chargen standards. Lots of extra work this week - I start my new part-time job, so I'll need to motivate during the evening in order to finish up.

Hey there,
I've done it!
I've just decided to run two tables of the same AP! Let's see what happens!
Keerek and Prazil, report HERE please.
Katerina and Motteditor, report HERE please.
If you have a strong opposition to being broken up, please let me know and don't post in the new thread. However, I have another fallow game that I'm using to seed these games and I thought it would be fun to introduce you guys to each other!
When all has been dotted and signed, I'll shut down this thread.

I think I'm also going to pass, I'm afraid, Lein. Sorry, just not feeling gestalt. Good luck, though, and thanks for trying to keep this Kingmaker going.
Also, before we finally sign off here, thanks again everyone for going so long. This was my first PBP, and I'm bummed that we didn't quite make it to the end. I learned a ton from running it and have really enjoyed playing with everyone involved.
In my mind, Golarion will always have a Hartsland, with a couple crazy kobolds leading a misfit group of heroes on to great deeds.
