Welcome to the Legion of Super-Heroes Play By Post game, I the Cosmos Master shall guide your characters through adventures which hope to be fitting of the Legion of Super-Heroes Comic Book. May the games be entertaining to all as well as a worthy play test of the game system. I deeply appreciate each and every person who offered to play and I sincerely hope it will be worth your while.

A special Thank you to Valegrim, for putting up with my tons of posts within my Legion Thread since Saturday, December 1st, 2007, offering of ideas and patience in waiting to play. Also a special thank you to Set and DM Freehold as well. Hope to see you and others showing an interest in the Legion of Super-Heroes Roleplaying Game.

2981, January 2nd, Earth Solar Year.

Metropolis is swarming with activity as the celebration of the Legion of Super-Heroes 8th anniversary is a mere 4 days away. Though celebrations are being held all over various worlds, this week Earth has become the primary focal point of the galaxy. Security is very high as Presidents, Ambassadors, Kings, Chancellors, and other high ranking members of the United Planets have arrived. Never has such a celebration been held in the vast city which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

As meetings and arrangements are underway, final touches are being brought forth in speeches, decorations, private celebrations, arrivals for honorary guests and countless other events throughout the many worlds of the United Planets.

But elsewhere, other events are not so peaceful. A cloaked lithe figure, surrounded by the shadows of the castle wall, looks deeply into a viewing mirror. Wispy white and grey smoke fills the glass resting gently upon a vast ice wall. A cold, calculating, voice can be heard as the figure slowly turns around and raises high a goblet made of blue ice.

“Soon a new queen shall take the throne, one who’s bred of royalty and who is strong, one who shall show no mercy to our enemies and one who shall rule for decades to come, for it has been spoken. Be warned however, I shall not deal with failure well. Today you prove your allegiance to me and in return, I shall give you your life. Fail me, and thy families shall be stricken from the ancient scrolls as you bury your dead and one another.” Now go, bring my sister to me”!

The monitor board an ingenious masterpiece of science which displays various worlds and the events that take place upon them. The largest monitor displays an older gentleman, with graying hair at the temples. His pristine uniform can be seen, as he walks away from the monitor.

“I understand Mr. President; I’ll organize a team immediately and the situation shall be investigated.

Mon’els words may perhaps not even be heard, as the screen suddenly goes black and the transmission ends.

“Lightning Lad, take Wildfire, Invisible Kid and Shadow Lass with you. Contact Star Boy and pick him up along the way. Proceed to Engalent 3 and investigate the unusual weather phenomenon. The President said that the planet has always been besieged with violent weather, but never has it become so volatile. He says that the Science Police have sent forth two separate investigative teams and neither have returned or been heard of. The weather conditions are so dangerous that it may even interfere with your telepathic earplugs, stay close together and see if you can discover the source of radiation that is emerging from the planet and affecting sub-space communications as well. Take a Mark X cruiser. These are the coordinates. Any questions?”


"Finally some action. Lets get moving. I'll get the ship fueled and ready to go."

Lightning Lad: While your waiting for a reply from Star Boy and awaiting Invisible Kid you can go ahead and begin charting your coarse.

You may choose to lock in a Navigation route by making a roll using the Military Air & Space AOE. The die roll can be made to travel directly to the desired location. Travelling this way is very time consuming and will take weeks.

Alternatively, you may make a Hyper-Space Travel roll and discern when the Alpha-Omega Wormhole will open for you. Once you enter, another roll will be required to navigate through it properly and reach the nearest exit towards Engalent 3. After that, a Navigation roll will be required to reach your destination on auto pilot. This procedure takes mere hours.

Your call as to what method you choose. Naturally if you have your own ideas you may implement them as well.

If you choose to make any AOE rolls, you roll the d20 and add your modifier for that particular ability your using. We check it against a challenge rating and if you roll equal or better you succeed, if you roll below, you fail and things start to go wrong.

Can you list your totals for each roll, the way you presented it I didn't understand. Sorry.

Just take your d20 roll add in the modifier next to your Hyper-space AOE and give me the total.

Same thing for Navigation.

Ok, that sounds a lot better. Does the rest of the character sheet seem like its ok (your power section won't have much on it) but can you read the sheets ok?


Invisible Kid boards the ship prior to lift off.

The Alpha-Omega Wormhole is the closest one to Earth and is used to frequently travel through space. It grants access to numerous sectors and thus is very versatile. This particular wormhole has very little variance and chaos to it, making it fairly predictable for calculations.

As you approach the Alpha-Omega worm hole you can see that it is opening and should remain that way for at least another 4 hours, which will give you plenty of time to fly in, navigate throughout the hole and exit.

Upon entering, the surrounding space is filled with shimmering metallic colors consisting primarily of silver with purple ebbs of light peaking in and out of the frame structure of the worm hole. Several passageways can be seen on all four sides of the wormhole. The tunnels that are above, below and to the sides of your craft open to different areas of space, ensuring very fast travel. Each has its own variety of color and light protruding within.

According to your calculations, you must take the 54th tunnel on the left side of your craft. This particular hole should enter the correct sector or space required to reach Engalent 3 in the least amount of time.

According to my calculations it's the 53rd tunnel to the left, not the 54th.

Wildfire, no offence, but I think we should go with Lightning Lad's calculations. You are new to our group so you probably don't realize this but he is the most acurate navigator in the Legion and I doubt he is wrong.

Star Boy (Thom Kallor), You are currently at located at your home planet Xanthu on leave. Though your vacation has been peaceful, you do find that it is interrupted 2 days early by this current crisis. If your comrades correctly pilot there way through the Alpha-Omega Wormhole, it should be no less than 5 hours before they arrive at your home world.

Indeed, your Hyper-Space calculations do coincide with Lightning Lads.

Using the computers on board you should be able to do a full analysis of the planet Engalent 3.

Though brief in his wording, Mon-el had this to say about Engalent 3.

Anyone on board may feel free to investigate the planets history, meteorlogical information, climate, rotation, etc. by using the ship's computers.

In order to do so the Sciences Planetary Studies AOE should be used. Here you will find various aspects of planetary studies, one of which includes weather.

You may also wish to make an AOE roll using the Space Travel & Astronomical Applications for Astronomy and Known Space Anomalies in order to gain further knowledge of the area.

Regardless of which (if any) are made, roll d20 and add your modifier to the die roll (which appears next to the AOE). Inform me which AOE you used and what your total was in order for me to confirm what you learn.


Everyone make a Sight roll. This is done by rolling d20 and adding your category number to the die roll. Please list your results.

Lightning Lad, you may have a +4 bonus to your die roll.


Cosmos Master my sight roll was 21.


I got a total of 17 on my sight roll.

As you pilot your small craft through the various levels of the atmosphere followed by space, the pressurization of your craft automatically adjusts itself. The planet behind you slowly begins to look like a tiny model. The great cities of ice spread across the surface quickly fade from your sight.

You knew this moment would come, when you would be betrayed by your own flesh and blood. Now you have been forced to flee your home world; for you have become a fugitive, perhaps for the remainder of your life.

Looking across your instrument panels you see no signs of crafts other than those in pursuit of you. Your distress call, had you sent it too late? The woman who should have been your sister, the one you have shared much of your childhood with. The love, the laughter, the mischief you got into as children, where was she in your time of need?

Ultra Boy, you find yourself wandering the halls of Legion Headquarters, with Dream Girl next to you, she places her hand on your arm, strolling together as if you were her escort.

Dream Girl “And so you see Ultra Boy, as always my dreams come true, the only discussion there should be is properly interpreting them. This woman will send a distress signal to the Princess, but she will be too late. Because of me, we have time to intercede. She was in a small spacecraft fleeing a couple of military looking ships, just outside of Anthalla, the Ice World. I never saw her death, that isn’t to say it never occurred, it may still happen. My dream came to an end a bit too soon. But if there is a chance…we should do something. Exactly who she is and why she's in danger I'm not really certain."

As you reach the window overlooking Nolan Plaza you can see that a crowd has once again gathered outside. Groups of various numbers congregate the courtyard, some looking upward toward the statue of Ferro Lad, remembering his great sacrifice when he destroyed the Sun Eater a few years ago. Others are waving, some carrying holo-signs which show their allegiance to the Legion, other holo-signs express their personal preference in Legionnaires.

Dream Girl "Looks like we have fans again, this 8th year anniversary has really brought them out in droves. Looks like that red head down there has your number Jo, maybe you should give her something to remember you by (wink)”.

As you wait patiently for the others to notify you of their arrival at Xan City Space Port, you hear a whirring sound outside of your door. The whirring noise is quickly followed by a buzzing sound. In your living room monitor, you can see that a small metallic probe is hovering outside your home awaiting for you to answer.

The probe is small, perhaps no more than 8 inches long and 5 inches wide. You see a red light coming from the probe as it appears to be scanning your door. You recognize the device as a messenger probe, these machines are used to deliver very secure messages by identfying the recipient prior to deivering whatever information was downloaded into the probe. You can see a small symbol on the top front of the device which indicates that it is from the Alchurian Space Observatory, one of the many observatories which hovers through space around Xanthu.

The probe scans you a second time, this time going up and down as well as side to side.

The front of the probe opens revealing a lens of some kind. The lens flashes a white light and for a quarter of a second you see a man appear in front of you, he then fades, reappears, then fades and reappears again, this time holding the image.

The hologram in front of you is a man in his mid to later 40's. He has a balding head with thin brown hair at the sides. The man is dressed in a light brown jump suit with a small emblem on his left side of his chest. The emblem is of a planet with a star over it. You recognize the symbol as being from the same research center your parents worked at.

"Good afternoon Mr. Thom Kallor, you may not recognize me but I am Dr. T'sorgee I worked for your parents when you were very young and were exposed to the star enviornment your unique power comes from. As you recall, you once had other powers as well as a result of flying past a particular comet.

I work independently now and have been studying your power for some time now. Pardon me, I should really say the powers of Gabrien Worner a young man about your age. The environment which gave you your remarkable power I have artifically created and Gabrien was my test subject.

At first everything appeared to be a success, that is until 4 weeks ago. The exposure has seemed to have adverse effects on Gabrien's personality, a situation that did not occur to you. In the past month he has shown significant signs of paranoia, carelessness, delerium, and rapid aging progression. He appears as if he in his early to mid 50's but in actuallity he is 22 years of age.

In order to help diagnose his symptoms I request your assistance. You see you are the only person who has been exposed to these conditions and as a result have the power you have and those you once had. Gabrien possess these abilities as well but further study has become quite impossible as a result of his personality disorder.

I would like to compare the two of you and see how you differ. This hopefully will be the solution to cure him of the adverse effects. I will need tissue samples, blood and various examinations of your being in order to help him. Thus I request your assistance in this matter.

Please respond back to me via the messenger probe and it will download you response to the nearest probe provider and thus to me.

Location: Bridge of Legion Mark X Cruiser, Alpha Omega Wormhole, 54th tunnel

As you peer down at the screen which measures no more than 8 inches across, you see the inside of the wormhole you are travelling through. Towards the top of the sceen, you see several white images flashing. The purpose of the screen is to detect other objects within your immediante range.

The red light flashing next to the monitor is a warning generated by the computer. As you look for a moment, a loud beeping sound can now be heard throughout your entire craft.

Everyone recognizes the loud beeping sound as a warning as all eyes stop upon the 10 inch monitor with the small flashing lights. The computer has informed you that oncoming objects are ahead moving at a very rapid speed.....directly towards your spacecraft. It would appear as if a collision is about to take place.

After enjoying a moment or two with your fans, Dream Girl walks towards you and suddenly many of the people who were surrounding you begin to move away towards the newcomer.

She works through the crowd signs a few autographs, and then reaches you.

"I have a ship waiting for you. I believe we need to leave very soon in order to reach our destination. I've located Timber Wolf in the gym, lets see if he's in or not."

Dream Girl leads Ultra Boy to the gym where Timber Wolf is working out. Currently, Brin is about 30 feet in the air doing a quadruple flip and attempting to stand on a 2 inch beam resting 3 feet of the floor.

Timber Wolf, in order to complete the move when it's interupted, please make a Concentration check (challenge score of 15 or higher succeeds, anything less and you lose your concentration because of the interuption.

All Players adjust your character sheet. Under your Areas of Expertise (AOE) Martial Arts, Movement and Toughness, you will see BACK FLIP. Change this to FLIP), also further down that section you'll see MULTI-BACK FLIP. Please change this to MULTI-FLIP. This applies to all characters, thanks much.
