Hey! Watch the paint job, budd--er--Master! I just got a fresh coat 3 years ago!
Claptrap looks down into his Venti triple blonde soy caramel macchiato; extra hot, with no foam coffee, his reflection revealing a scratched, worn and pitted hunk of scrap. Huh. Maybe I DO need a new coat of paint. Heck, I have been eaten, chewed, spit up, sandblasted, gutted, bashed back into shape and then dropped down a Fleshbag waste tunnel all in the short time that I got here. Its amazing that I look as good as I do!
.
Life is hard.
Claptrap seems to be lost in hopeless introspection.
"Okay, good...not that I have anything against having to kill anyone but things are usually easier if there aren't any bodies to have to clean up," Palo nods, trying to hide her actual relief that they don't have to slaughter these Daytaar folks.
"And personally, I think those terms sound pretty good...right?" she adds, glancing at Rav and the others for confirmation.

Oh! You guys are famous! Im so jealous...
Then in response to the Zomskane agent
So get in, disrupt opperations, retrieve data, teach lessons (I call dibs on singing lessions ^-^), blow s%#t up but avoid killing people and commence spy work. Check.
Hey Master! Your in luck! We get to blow s%#t up!
Later that evening (I assume we wont be leaving immediately) We should take the chance to stock up now while we are still in the city and since I am not a wanted robot, unlike some, I can go out into the city and buy all our needed supplies. What do you gents require me to fetch? Claptrap will buy a set of Lore: Xenobiology Mwk Tools at minimum. I have not decided what else he will get, such as a gun. But potions and such would be a good idea!

A few days ago:
Blekk headed to the Battle Pits, rubbing his head. Ever since he’d gone through the portal, he had been plagued by enormous migraines. Even though he’d meant to just go and watch the fights-his head had seemed clearer the last time he was watching Biggun tear apart combatants-in his haze he went into the door meant for competitors. It wasn’t until a burly hand grabbed him and yanked him into a room that he realized that something was wrong.
”Where the hell d’ya think yer goin, little guy?! God, I swear you runts get smaller every year, and jeez you’re ugly! You know the rules, once you’re in your cell you don’t leave the Pits until you’re the last one standing.”
Disoriented, Blekk looked up to see an enormous figure dressed in armor stride out of the room and slam the door. He tried the knob, but it was locked. Well crap. This...this not good. Blekk banged on the door, yelling for someone to let him out to no avail. That accomplished nothing except making his headache even worse, and he curled up on the floor, squeezing his eyes shut in a grimace of pain.
He tried to take his mind off of the agony by working on another problem that had been bugging him since he had gone through the portal. To his perspective, he’d traveled a handful of feet between Garslit and here, but it seemed like he’d gone much, much further. He had been trying to figure out how to compress and expand space in a similar way, and the extract he was mixing now was his latest attempt at manipulating space.
Eventually, a sound roused him and he looked up. A door at the opposite end of his cell had opened. He gingerly stepped outside, blinking in pain as his eyes adjusted to the bright light of the amphitheater he found himself in. Hoo boy, think I know where I am...this REALLY not good.
Then what seemed like a solid wave of sound hit him-the crowd erupted into cheers as Blekk and five other people stepped out of their cells to form a ring, everyone facing each other. Blekk was the smallest being there, by far.
”WELCOME, LADIES AND GENTLEBEINGS, TO THE BRAWL!!! YOU KNOW THE RULES, LAST ONE ALIVE IS THE WINNER! WE-what the hell is that thing?” The announcer had just noticed Blekk, shading his eyes and looking like he was about to fall over at the slightest push. ”NEVER MIND THAT, GUESS THAT JUST MEANS BETTER ODDS FOR THE OTHER GUYS! NOW. LET’S. GET. STAAAAAAARTED!!!!!!”
A gong rang out, and four of the other gladiators immediately charged at each other. The fifth advanced slowly on Blekk, smirking as he brandished his spear. ”Let’s give them a good show, eh? I’ll carve you up a bit, then wait for those idiots to stop fighting each other.” He stabbed out at Blekk, who somehow managed to grab the shaft of the spear and use the momentum to shunt himself backwards, slamming hard into the wall. Blekk looked at the fighter, and for the first time in ages, his headache vanished. Time seemed to slow down, and he seemed to hear a voice in the back of his head whispering
Kick His ASS.
Blekk cracked his neck and slapped his mutagen and an extract into his hands with his tail.
”Wait, what’s this? Looks like the little green dude somehow smuggled a few potions into the ring! Not strictly legal, of course, but once you’re in the Pit it really doesn’t matter. Wha-what is going on with him? Are those claws he’s growing? Wait, is this guy getting bigger? Huh, looks like today’s just full of surpris-OH MY GODS WHAT DID HE JUST DO TO TORGATH?! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, HE’S DEAD! STOP DOING THAT TO HIM, THIS IS JUST HORRIFYING! Okay, it looks like the remaining two competitors from the center are noticing this, they’re coming to finish him off. Wait, greenie’s throwing something, wha-okay, where did the floor go? How did he make a hole that big?! WHY IS HE CLIMBING DOWN THERE, CAN ANYONE SEE WHAT’S GOING ON?”
A cacophony of screams erupted from the pit, then silence. A few seconds later, the pit slowly rose, the floor stained red with only a few small lumps of meat and some broken weapons to indicate that any fighters had been there. In the middle, as red as his surroundings, was Blekk swigging from a glass bottle. He looked at his side, at a hole slowly closing up into a lumpy mass that seemed to move of its own accord. ”Huh. That’s weird.” the goblin remarked to himself. He looked up at the announcer. ”Uh, where do I leave? Oh, door right there, got it.” He walked out of the arena, leaving the crowd utterly silent in shocked horror.
OOC notes:
It’s been a while since Blekk did much of anything, and I saw that Zed had me going to the Battle Pits with Biggun. This gave a decent excuse for me to tease a few new toys I’ve gotten, even if they’re slightly out of order level-wise. It also explains why Blekk’s been so uncharacteristically quiet lately-between him trying to figure out the portal (I figured that the whole dimension-warping aspect of the portal would tie in well with the Dimensional Excavator) and enormous migraines caused by him basically losing his mind (all the drugs and stuff he’s been taking have been awful for his brain, and it’s only a matter of time before that psychosis manifests itself. Like, probably around level 8 or so...). Also, towards the end he gets his tumor familiar. Still working out exactly what I want the familiar to be, but right now I’m leaning towards an Ioun Wyrd. Even though it’s a construct, it can be used as a familiar, and I’ve already got a few ideas in mind for shenanigans with it. I thought that a magical/tech familiar could be pretty cool for this setting. Zed, let me know if you don’t want me taking that kind of familiar and I’m happy to change what creature it is.

Earlier, a few days ago at the Battle Pits.
Claptrap is once again cheering from the stands, he had placed a few bets on the contestants and he even recognized one of the names! Although he was slightly surprised to see Blekks name on the roster, and coming from the slave fights no less, but hey, what did he know? (And save him? Why would he do that? This is entertaining!)
Once the fights are underway, Claptrap gets a cheer going; Go Shrimp GO!!! Go Shrimp GO!!! and cheers and jeers with the fights, exclaiming extra loud when the fights turn gory.
When the little (mutated) goblin is the only one to leave Claptrap is ecstatic and goes to collect his winnings, however when he gets there he realized that his winnings and losses balance out and that he didn't bring anything home that evening.
...He then promptly forgets about Blekk in the pits...
On the way home from Commarch's, after meeting with the Zomskane agent
Claptrap is trundling on home when there is a sudden, internal CLICK... and Claptrap stops dead in the street.
(Que internal monolog >_>) Finally! Finally I have cracked another layer of security on that Blasted BR-NR hard drive! Just you and me buddy, and soon it will just be me >:D Bit by bit you are being subsumed into myself and then I will be complete, and perfect, and not b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b..bbbroken! Claptrap animates again, only to speak outloud in perfect Jagladine.

A handy little bit of exposition that goes along with CL4P-TP's language discoveries...
As CL4P-TP's memory circuits start to knit previously intricate networks together once more, certain keywords connect...
Keyword: 'Jagladine'
Of all the member species within the Ultari Hegemony—save the ultari themselves—the jagladine represent the clearest threat to the multiverse. Bereft of the guiding morality found in other species, they see themselves on the cusp of becoming ‘living gods’ — a self-ascribed title vacated by the more ancient Patons and Principalities which preceded them.
Expert biologists in the extreme, the jagladine maintain a research enclaves on dozens of unclaimed worlds, hard at work on developing a means to dominate other species and assimilate them into their growing base of power. From these scientific outposts, the jagladine routinely tamper with the natural evolution of native creatures and pathogens, caring not for the repercussions their research has on the greater multiverse.
Embodying a curious mix of reptilian and insectoid traits, jagladine have a toughened hide for added protection, and display an unnerving knack for crawling about on even the most difficult of surfaces. To compensate for their woefully average physique, they also enjoy a natural immunity to disease and poison, even cultivating an internal means of storing such toxins for future use through their enhanced biology. Typically taller than a human, a jagladine stands 6 feet tall and weighs around 150 pounds.
Further Query: 'Patrons'
Untold aeons ago, two ancient interstellar civilisations engaged in a never-ending war which raged across the multiverse. One side of this conflict — known as the Patrons — favoured good, whilst the other — known only as the Principalities — exulted in evil. It was these civilisations, it is believed, that made and used the network of interplanetary gates to traverse the immeasurable gulfs between worlds.
And, as the millennia unfolded, they each became progenitors to a variety of client species — whether uplifted, engineered, or secretly fostered through patient evolution — each one encouraged to take up and embrace their benefactor’s ideals. It isn't known what ended the war but history records that both the Patrons and the Principalities ceased to exist and the multiverse was once more a disconnected weave of disparate cultures...
Untold ages have passed, and the presumed descendants of both civilizations have matured, resuming the battles their ancestors started. The Ultari Hegemony represents the dark forces of the multiverse — a powerhouse coalition steeped in the hatred and pain of the Principalities...
Taking the Zomskane advice and laying low, the group - having spent a little amount of time making plans and acquiring essential supplies, it is time to head southwards out of Zel-Argose and to the small village where Zomskane's enemies apparently have a safehouse...
Arriving under the cover of darkness, the group avoid any inquisitive eyes as they follow a map... a map that leads them to an ancient stone cenotaph standing at the lonely end of a street, flanked by a pair of large trees and surrounded by a thicket of overgrown shrubbery. The rectangular structure bears the weight of a crumbling statue representing a bearded warlord raising a stone spear towards the sky. The name, Valdo-Char, appears as an inscription on the monument’s facing in large letters.
Knowledge (local or history) DC10:
Valdo-Char was one of Zel- Argose’s earlier rulers before the Coteries rose to power. He successfully defended the city from a succession of invaders during his reign, including barbaric nomads and a race of mysterious, bat-winged humanoids long since vanished from any known region of Argosa. These deeds notwithstanding, the warlord has little context in the Argosan society today.
The structure has suffered multiple attempts to vandalize it over the years, and clearly sees few visitors any longer.
Perception or Survival DC15:
Examining the monument reveals recent tracks which lead behind the cenotaph and also places where someone has cleared the vegetation for easier passage.
"I can't see a damned thing out here at night," Palomia grumbles as the group creeps along following the map they'd been given. "You'd think they'd have made some sort way for people like me to see in the dark! Where are we even going, anyway?"

"Valdo-Char one of Zel-Argh-Hose’s kings back before Coteries be around. He fought off bunch of invaders, barbaric nomads and bat-winged long-shanks, may have killed off the bat-wings. He not very well known or cared about anymore." Rav comments, then looks at everyone. "What, Rav be talk to people around city, need find out about stuff. Valdo-Char blew up lots of enemies. "Almost. If would stop trying to do dumb things like sell drugs, might be smarter." Rav comments, and there's metallic 'tong' as he Gibbsmacks Clappy again.
"Wha...you tried selling drugs!? Are you a moron?" Palo hisses. "Keep that up and the next time a bunch of off-worlders wanders into Zel-Argose the Zomskane will be sending them after us!"
Rav looks at all the unusual growths on Blekk, and Gibbsmacks Relas. "Blekk have tumors since we met him. See? One on arm, one on back of hand, one on top of neck.. no wait, that face, just ugly face."

Blekk shrugs and pulls up his shirt. "You tell me-don't think any doctors would really know what's going on here." He motions to his chest, where a weird lump is sitting. "Alright, come on out."
The lump starts writhing around, expanding as it pushes itself out of Blekk's chest with a wet, sucking sound. Blekk looks impassively at Rav. "So...you got drugs? And you didn't share? Man...thought you were cool."
The lump lurches off of Blekk's body, landing with a faint *plop* on the ground. The flesh-colored blob unfolds itself, revealing a small lizard with wings and a long, slender tail. It climbs onto Blekk's shoulder and stares happily at the others. Neither Blekk or the lizard seem to care that it just burst out of Blekk's chest. "Guys, meet Binky. Binky, meet guys. He's alright, I guess. Get the feeling that he knows a lot more than he lets on, but doesn't say so. He's kind of a jerk like that..."Binky chirps and headbutts the side of Blekk's head affectionately.
Blekk smirks a bit. "So...yeah. Magical tumor, turns into pterosaur, magical link into my brain. No idea why. Guessing it maybe started when we went through portal. Pretty awesome, right?"
Once Relas has seen the cleared vegetation behind the cenotaph, it doesn't take much longer for him to locate the polished stone that acts as a latch for a relatively well disguised secret door. A small landing waits behind the secret door, leading to an earthen staircase descending to the west. Stray tree roots have burst through the hard-packed ceiling overhead, and another five-foot landing marks a second stairway as the passage turns north...
Perception DC26:
There is a slight crack in the hard-packed clay of the first landing along the stairs... a tell-tale giveaway of a pressure plate or similar.

Blekk and Binky nod in sync with each other to Vael. It's really weird when they do it. "You're assuming right. Like my mom always said, if you see bad guys, you're going the right way. Miss that crazy gobbo. She always ran towards bad guys. She was eaten by serpents."
He takes a huge step back, away from the pressure pad.
"You should pry it up from the upper right corner, gears usually there, 'cause most people are right handed. Then put stuff in gears to keep it from moving." Rav opines, looking over Vael's other shoulder, curious at what sort of mechanism it has.

Yes, Rav picked up Disable Device this level, as well as the rogue talent 'Trap Spotter' so he get's an automatic perc check to notice traps, even if he's not looking, and disable magical traps, which means we have way too many rogue types in this group! Claptrap then proceeds to list all the things that got improperly installed or outright missing, including things like a Toast making module, the "Robot Dance" and a mute button...
And if we are all going to jail, I can play the Automation card! You guys ordered me to come! And I have information! And... Oops shouldn't have said that last one... But in all likeliehood I'll just get sent to the scrap heap instead... Never again. I dont think I could handle having 3 of us in here!

"No, that's the beauty of it Rav, you the sneaky one, I'm the muscle. Plus, with my alchemy knowledge and your crafting skills, we could do so much! Think of possibilities! A whole new world!"
"No no no no. Too many new world now. New world sucked, then blew up. Now we on new new world. No want new new new world, and even if end up there, then we have to go to new new new new world. Prefer Old Old World."

"This is making my head hurt," Relas whines softly. "Why don't we worry about what we'll do in jail when and if it actually happens? Worrying about too many things at once just gives you a headache and maybe even a stomachache, too!"
With the idea of stealth apparently being an alien concept, the group easily disable the pressure plate in the floor and, starting to display some caution, descend the staircase... turning to the north, the agents of Zomskane approach a simple room with a single door leading north. The room is near devoid of furniture beyond the pair of sconces in the northeast corner holding two torches burning brightly...
"Alright, this is where you sneaky folk check ahead," Palomia whispers, now a bit more concerned with their noise level after heading inside. "Relas, I think some of the others might actually be a little better at it now than you are so maybe just shadow them from behind?"
________
At least, I'm pretty sure that someone in the group can stealth better than Relas by this point but if she's wrong then he'll certainly take point and check out the door :)

No problem! I shall now forge ahead!!
And with that (and before anyone can protest) Claptrap zips ahead on his one squeaky wheel, heading for the opposite door.
Squeak squeak?:1d20 ⇒ 17 Perception:1d20 ⇒ 4
He actually makes far less noise then normal, however it would appear that he forgot to look around as he makes for the door...

Moving, quite cautiously behind CL4P-TP, Blekk looks towards the northern door... and then sees them, to either side of the main door, there are concealed doors within the wall - and in each of those doors, peepholes...

"Um...Blekk is one thing but should we really let the very talkative and excitable robot scout ahead?" Relas whispers to the others, looking a bit concerned.
^I responded to this over in the Shattered Star discussion thread, hehe.
@All - I start my new job on Monday and I'm also working to readjust my sleep schedule (normally an 8a-4p shift is no big deal but when you've slipped into night owl mode...) so my own posts might be a little shorter/sparser than normal this week until I get adjusted to my new schedule. Maintaining 1/day should still be no problem though :)
Folks, we are getting quite close to the point where I had planned on re-inserting Solie into the campaign... and, ultimately, nearly at the end of the prequel adventure... Before I go about PM'ing Solie and then planning for maybe one or two more folks to join the campaign (I'd like to recruit us back to six), could I just get a 'show of hands' as to whether everyone is keen to carry on with the adventure...
...for my part, I'd love to see what kind of madness this oddball group could get up to but I recognise we have folks who have new jobs... possible second jobs, etc and hence, I think this is the optimum point in time to decide whether we hit the 'let's go intergalactic' button....
Ravboom's good for now, I've got, I think, 4 active games I'm a player in, and two post every two weeks, one posts 1 or 2 times per week, and this one. Technically I have 5, but the 5th one hasn't posted in 3 weeks, and I'm not sure if it's going to continue. That makes this one my most active game I play in.
I'm raring to go! Last week was kinda odd since the combo of working more hours than initially expected + trying to adjust to a new sleep routine left me tapping out pretty quick after I'd get home, but this week and beyond should be much more manageable :)
Male Goblin Fighter(Titan Fighter) 3, Champion 1 | HP [29/39] | AC 15, FF 14, T 11 | Fort +6, Ref +2, Will +1 | Init +1 | Darkvision 60', Perception +3, Bravery +2, Rage 6/day
I should still be good. I haven't heard back from them yet, so I don't know if I'll be getting the job or not. Regardless, I have no intention of leaving this game.
Awesome sauce!!! To infinity and beyond then... Glad you folks are enjoying the game :)
I'll send a PM to Solie's player some time this week to see if we can get her back on board... And, if you guys are cool with it, I'll also put a recruitment thread for an additional player out there in a while (another Legendary Planet game is currently recruiting a replacement so I'll wait until that's over... there's no massive hurry anyway)...
With Glob's luck, it's actually a cursed shield of Silencing. :)
Nah, the GM is a big fan of Globlob's goblin songs!!!
It is just a standard shield of blinding... No plus one's etc, we will be doing Pathfinder Unchained Automatic Bonus Progression so all of the normal (and boring) numeric magic items will be baked in to your levelling... Leaving you to find and use more exciting things!!!
Glad I didn't do two-weapon fighting builds or natural weapon builds. ABP totally hoses those builds over completely.
I'm sure we could have worked something up... I just find it easier when GM'ing as much as I am (6 games on the go right now) to know that folks aren't going to fall too far behind the curve of assumed attack bonuses, save bonuses and AC bonuses...
Ravboom doesn't like things speaking in his head. He's going to have to be talked into exploring a room where something is speaking an unknown language in his head. Otherwise, he is going to want to leave.
Palomia suspects whatever is talking to them is in that sarcophagus but if the others really want to turn around and check out the gel barrier then she's not going to argue too much - especially if the voice quits once they move away.
So, we are back up to five happy adventurers… but I wouldn’t mind getting us back up to six as we start the adventure proper (the prelude adventure is drawing to a close… and Vuelib awaits!) – I was going to open a recruitment for one additional player if folks are okay with that… due to the way that the adventure moves on, this additional person won’t really be bound by on/from-Golarion assumptions and I was proposing to let them pretty much choose anything from the Advanced Race Guide, the ‘alien’ races from Inner Sea Bestiary (expanded upon within People of the Stars – Androids, Kasatha (although I am a little worried about intrinsic power with the four arms), Lashunta and Triaxians) and maybe, if folks have it, the races from the Legendary Planet Player’s guide…
…does that sound sensible? It would deviate from our ‘goblin’ party but I think that’s all part of the fun!!! Plus, in the (unlikely/possible/almost certain*) event of one of your characters dying, I’d probably allow a similar flexibility for race selection for your new character.
That's it, next feat I get will be Endurance. That way I can do one more action before falling unconscious.
I feel your pain!!! I will be weaving a little bit of healing technology / magic into the next adventure... Biggun's a lot more fun when he's not snoozing!!!
^ Thanks GM, I was hoping that'd be the case. I also wouldn't say no to our recruited 6th being someone with a little heal capability themselves...not necessarily a cleric or another oracle or anything, but it's definitely handy to have multiple characters able to pitch in if push comes to shove!
It'll get easier as you start to gain more levels and flatten stuff with that chain easier. What we really need is to boost your AC in a bad way. Or at least find a way to get you some more defenses. I'll make sure Glob invests in stuff like Displacement and Blur ASAP.
I agree with Glob, we just need to boost your AC a bit. It'll take some time but Palo and Solie will eventually be able to offer some nice buffs to help out too :)
Folks, when I opened recruitment I told you folks to limit yourselves to one trait and that you would get a second campaign specific trait at an appropriate time... That time has now come...
The traits are posted: Here (note that I have redacted 'Stranger in a Strange Land' for folks from Golarion... If anyone dies in the future and rolls up a new character, then that trait is likely to be available to them).
Go ahead, select one (and don't forget to tell everyone else which one you took!!!)
