Hmm. Considering an alchemist. Let's see what inspires...

Elven Psychic (Psychedelia discipline) who is a devotee of Chucaro - the Maiden of Haze and Whimsy.

The character is inspired by both the writeup of Chucaro within Chronicles of the Righteous and the following two quotes from Bill Hicks.

Quotes:
Your denial is beneath you, and thanks to the use of hallucinogenic drugs, I see through you.

Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration – that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

I'll round up the crunch and fluff over the next few days and throw it up for your perusal - though I have to put forward a small proviso first.

I'm about to head off on a significant (3 week) holiday to the UK and UAE, so will be less active on the forums than usual over that time period. Probably not completely absent - but definitely quieter.

I'll be back in action after that point though (and if you have a look at my posting history you'll see that there's no real risk of me pulling a disappearing act).

Assuming you're ok with that initial bit of absence, then I'll put forward the stoner elven psychic for you to peruse.

I can't resist sci fi and the chance to play things in spa~a~a~a~ace. And I've only heard good things about the people making this AP so far.

I've got a character in mind, I just want to know exactly how it's going to work before I commit myself to it fully or get too attached!

Basically, I'd like to go into Arcanist with the Blood Arcanist archetype. My question though is this: If I'm developing my Sorcerer Bloodline through the use of Arcanist features, is everything in the bloodline still based off Charisma, or can I use Intelligence instead? It'd be a rough life to have DCs based off of Cha instead of Int as an Int caster, but there's no provisions for the change in stats RAW.

The intended bloodline is Starsoul, not only because it's thematic, but because I relate well to a love of the stars and other celestial bodies.

Why not go full Sorcerer you ask? Because I like spellbooks and librarian types and of course Int plays better with elves (my intended race).

Now if only elves were as adorably tiny as they were in 3.5 >.> but while I'm at it I might as well wish away the big hairy feet of the Pathfinder halflings, too.

Definite maybe...

Korak the Boisterous – sounds fine to me - what are you envisaging happening with the apprentice? Would they be an ‘off-screen’ presence or would they be part of the adventure somehow?

Abxy Qwerty – our first applicant!!! Note that, in terms of your backstory, no-one outside of Holver’s Ferry will have heard any rumours or indications about anything untoward occurring.

Haladir / Lady Ladile – I’m not sure, given that the AP is still being written, just how much Background Skills will come into play… however… they are a nice addition to the Pathfinder Rules and I believe they encourage character development so, on that basis… Background Skills are now part of Character Creation.

Here is a Link to the Rules as I do not believe they are on the PRD yet.

Mark Sweetman – no worries about initial slow posting – thanks for letting me know and I certainly won’t exclude any application from consideration on that basis… A couple of weeks of slow posting is no dramas when considering how long this adventure could run for.

Memisyne – I think I’d prefer to keep the Bloodline powers based of Cha (as written) – hopefully a Point Buy of 20 goes some way to making it a feasible build…

The apprentice is part of an archetype, it gives him as a cohort sacrificing arcane bond. at level 1 he's a level 1 commoner, at level 3 he becomes a level 1 wizard. at level 7 if I choose to take leadership it's based off intelligence instead of charisma and he remains my cohort. At each level I can dismiss an apprentice as either having his training completed or having failed my tests.

At fifth level I could take teamwork feats as wizard bonus feats and as long as he's within 60 feat he gains them too.

Dotting for interest.

If I don't make it in the Way of the Wicked campaign (*waves at Korak*), I'd like to put my chips down as an Android Techslinger that I've always wanted to play. Built it several times but the campaigns for it never got off the ground. Plus, found a nifty ref pic that'd be perfect for it xD.

*waves back*

Before I go to start work on the character I thought it best to discuss the concept with you GM Zed, and see if it fits with what the AP and yourself are going for. Fair warning this post will be somewhat long.

I've noticed when it comes to tales revolving around martial arts and the like that two character archetypes are used to a huge degree; the warrior philosopher who seeks to find enlightenment, is seeking an answer to some mystery or is trying to master his art to uncover some hidden truth and on the other side of the coin we have the guy doing it for pure power; he trains, fights and does what he does in the story to become stronger, shunning weakness and respecting only those he deems of equal strength. What I am thinking of is making a character who is an amalgam of both. Someone striving for strength but still inquisitive about the nature of something or another. Maybe he's even wondering to what end he is growing stronger or what would he choose to employ that strength for.

Now I'll admit I had this idea for this character for a while. I just have not decided which AP I'd use him in. Then I saw your recruitment and thought wouldn't it be cool to have a martial artist kicking ass in space?

Obviously he's going to be a very serious person and while he won't be this silent loner he isn't going to be a very pleasant conversationalist. He'll have a lot of pride and confidence in himself, and not a whole lot of humor, also I'd have to have him estranged with where he learned his skills so he wouldn't have any attachments to the world and would find the prospect of leaving it acceptable and maybe a little appealing.

Mechanically I'd make him an unchained monk with a focus on dragon style feats and shatter defenses to get medusa's wrath active more often.

I assume golems are still off the list, so Tik'Klik is still out.

Hmmm, could submit one of my previous characters. They fit the bill of 'care about' otherwise wouldn't bring them back from the dead. Any chance you'd be ok with a half-giant from the Dreamscarred Press? I know you said psionics would be in eventually... I have a half-giant gunslinger I really liked.

Alternately, I also have a goblin named Ravboom who's quite the little barbarian.

Hi Zed,

Very interesting stuff! People are really creative and pushing the boundaries of PF in this one. I'll have an application here soon :)

Thanks

Hi Ronnie!

I have the crunch done for a Summoner, but I'm wondering if something else might be better.

Hmm Bard's always an option.

Korak the Boisterous – great, sounds like it could be quite a bit of fun…

Wolfgang Rolf – That sounds great; a character with strong motivations – a serious someone who can act as a dramatic counterpoint to some of the more wild applicants we might be getting and… like you say, a martial artist kicking ass in space – what’s not to like!!!

mdt – I’m going to stick to my guns and keep it non-3pp for now… for sure, we will be delving into Dreamscarred’s Psionics at some stage but that might be as far as we get with non-Paizo material… Having said that; there are four specific playable races that the Legendary Planet Adventure Path introduces – again, like the Campaign Trait, they won’t become available until we go off-world. However… Goblins? In Space? That’s got be cool yeah?

Woah!

I must have missed it!

I'm someone who was playing with Lady Ladile in one of the games that fell through, and I was wondering if I could play a sorcerer from that game. I know the usual rules about playing characters that have already been in campaign, but I hope you'll find that Ladim is quite the character.

In short, consider this an application from a spell-weaving, compact-sized, lovely accented river pirate.

Obviously will be reworked for level 1, but I think he'll fit pretty damn well in a campaign of this caliber.

Ladim! If you're in then I may have to go ahead and submit Palomia here anyway as I'd love a chance to continue our (mis)adventures XD

Hmm, having trouble building a goblin within the rules, due to the 8/18 limitation on post-racial bonus stats. What with the strength and charisma penalties, and the dex bonus, the character is basically going to come out meh...

What class where you going with again? Barbarian?

You could try going Urban Rager and build a Dex-based barbarian. Or you could use the Unchained Barbarian and go the same route.

mdt / All - on reflection, the upper limit of 18 doesn't sit well with a point buy of 20 anyway so let me revise the stat restrictions:

  • 20-point ability buy (no stat lower than 8 AFTER racial bonuses / penalties - NO upper limit on stats).

Thinking of Tiefling Investigator.

Soemthign about this AP drives me towards the skill based smarts characters.

How about a cad archetype fighter being remanded to the town for a bounty?

Hmm, I might have to go straight sorcerer then. 20pnt buy with a build that demands two stats just for DCs alone just sounds... well, like I'm never going to hit lol. Ah well. Back to ye olde drawing board.

I am thinking a 'prince' whose bloodline was cursed with unquenchable wanderlust. His family are now the 'rulers' of a caravan that never stops, a travelling city-state. Perhaps travelling between planets may finally break the curse.

Hi everyone. This is Umbungo's friendly fortune teller dropping in for consideration.

Pale King - a caravan you say? I work on one of those, are you in need of any divinatory services?

I'm kind of going the opposite here, think Jack Burton or Ash, a guy in over his head and out of his comfort zone. Former brigand being remanded to town to cash in on a bounty. One of his former compatriots killed a citizen during a hold up, and even though Turd broke with the gang afterwards, in the eyes of the law, he's still accountable.

Yes there is a reason for the name, maybe he'll tell you.

Archlich here! Here's my submission to the game :)

Liberty's Edge

What options from blood of angels you allow for Aasimar?

Oooo, this sounds fun. Not sure what I'd make, probably an Occultist or Inquisitor (relic hunter) as I've had a hankering to play one of those since Occult Adventures came out.

It always feels like a bad idea to make a Skald for PbP, because it means the GM is probably only going to pick you if your party has a few people that will actually benefit from you.

Perhaps I will just go Bard.

Then I shall change the background a bit. Instead of investigating the specifics, Abxy Qwerty shall be part of a group that goes out to various countries noted for their religious beliefs to make sure that nothing is being planned against his country.

GM Zed - appreciate the consideration... hopefully I'll find the time to cobble him together before I head off!

Submitted for your approval is Zoreck the Unclean.

The avatar is as close as I can find, but doesn't really match what I had in mind. I'm envisioning his look to be more like a cross between Lemmy Kilmister and Zed from Zardoz.

I cant' seem to find anything on this. Random gold, average, max?

mdt wrote:

Average for the class.

Ok, this is going to be a somewhat different take on Ravboom. He won't be very useful until he can get his hands on some guns, but... I think it'll be a good character in time. :) For now, he's stuck with the junky weapons he managed to salvage before heading out on the road.

Character Sheet

I need to finish working out the background obviously.

Eventually, he's going to be a 'gunbladezerker' type. He basically get's a little stronger and a lot faster when he rages, and two-weapon fights with a pistol and rapier.

Whew! OK I have a profile up for my kineticist Drancis Mordaron. He is still a work in progress but this gives you a basic idea at least :)

The basic gist is he is an apprentice carpenter/architect who started experiencing strange abilities that he uses to help him with his profession. Needless to say he has trouble finding steady employment, which is why he is on the move again...

I think I'm going to apply. I'm busting out my Ratfolk Investigator, Basil Baker. Just working on feat and trait selection. To be posted soon.

GM Zed, I'd like to introduce you to Bolo Bramble, a varisian human oracle raised among halflings.

Diego Rossi – Any of the options within the Blood of Angels are fine; the default position for recruitment is that all Paizo products are okay for use.

All - some great concepts / applications already!!! I'll echo what the Archlich said and agree that there is a lot of creativity here. I anticipate collating a list of applications thus far at some point today...

Lady Ladile here submitting Palomia Kasic and eidolon Relas for consideration. I think that everything relevant is in both profiles but let me know if I've missed anything!

Hrm, I may make an application for this. All depends on whether I get into a different game, which I find out tomorrow.

That being said, I can't decide what kind of character to play. I had an Android Cleric for a now defunct Iron Gods game, but I'm not too sure about playing another cleric. I do like the android race though.

Argh, what to make....

EDIT: I think I'm leaning towards either a pistolero gunslinger or a mindblade magus. Most likely human for the pistolero, android for the mindblade (I could flavor-wise make the manifested blade some form of the android's nanites).

EDIT 2: Come to think of it, an Android Mindblade using her nanites to make her blade sounds pretty neat. I'll work with that.

Anyone with a lawman or even mercenary background wanting to link stories? Turd is being "escorted" back to town to collect a bounty on his head.

Turd Fergusson wrote:

Doesn't have anything to do with Burt Reynolds, does it?

Well, the name itself is from Celebrity Jeopardy on SNL, yes, but an in game reason for someone actually being named that, that's backstory. :)

Here I present Basil Baekr, Greatest Investagatory Mind of all the rodent-like peoples of Golarion!

Oh, and Turd, I'll take you up on that. Maybe Basil was contracted to help run you down by the local constabulary. He is quite the detective, you know.

NOTE: Still working on background and finding a good first level feat.

BTW: Nice to see you again Lady Ladile, good luck!

Background:

Ravboom would have likely been a typical goblin, hiding in a warren, setting fires, and killing those nasty horses and long-shanks.

However, shortly after his birth, his warren chief made the mistake of attacking some people who took up residence in some ruins they considered their territory.

Unfortunately, the group was a group of relic hunters, and they had a simple solution for dealing with the locals, total slaughter. The hunters tracked the goblin wounded from the assault back to their lairs, and slaughtered the entire warren.

Only Ravboom and one other young goblin escaped, his sister Nagwhine. The two managed to escape by fleeing down some crevices that even full grown goblins couldn't fit into. The two fled through the caverns, and would likely have starved if they hadn't come across Gravent Grayshanks hidden research facility. The old gnome, whose hair is nearly white, had been researching the relics found from the alien wrecks.

His eyesight was nearly shot, and at first he thought they were earth sprites. It wasn't until they started growing, and Ravboom's ears became truly excessive, that he realized he'd rescued two goblins. However, by then, the two had made themselves useful (or at least, Nagwhine had, for she had a brain to make even the most wizened gnome notice!). Ravboom's brain was... well, average. But he had clever hands, when he could be convinced to use them to assemble things and not take them apart.

Over the years, Ravboom became very adept at making things that went 'BOOM!', to the point his sister took to calling him Ravboom, and the name stuck. She was, as one might guess, rather bossy and opinionated, thus her name of Nagwhine. Finally, as Ravboom aged, he grew restless in the underground research facility, and agitated to go adventuring. Gravent allowed it, but forbade him from taking any of the lovely boom machines with him, as he didn't want anyone trying to track Ravboom back to his old lair to steal his things. Ravboom figured he'd make more later, so didn't object all that strongly. After Gravent approved of his 'adventuring equipment', Ravboom got directions to the nearest city, and set off on his own. He has had mixed reactions by others, as he moves farther and farther from the wastes of Alkenstar. Most don't particularly care for goblins, but goblins who don't set the inns on fire, who bath regularly, and who speak at least nominally politely are generally able to get along without too much trouble, especially when they are by themselves and not in a big group.

Having gotten the background, I'm probably going to adjust his skills, swim doesn't make much sense, but kn(Dungeoneering) does, as does Craft(Clockwork).

Okay, so I think I'm going to write up an Android Mindblade Magus. Magus Arcana she'd take include Spellshield (Shield bonus equal to Int modifier? Yes please), Prescient Attack/Defense (psycic...totally fits), and probably Divinatory Strike (also fits a 'psychic' character).

I'd pick the Familiar magus arcana, but the closest she'd be able to have to a technological familiar would be a clockwork familiar.

Flavor-wise, her manifested psychic blade is an extension of her nanites. Mechanically it would be exactly RAW.

Now to think of a name for her.

@Basil - I see what you did there. Well done, hehe.

@mdt - It's good to see you (and Ravboom) again as well! Thanks and good luck :)

Arcane Archer.

I will hate myself eventually, but yes. Arcane Archer.

So....
