See first page of discussion for my info. Just waiting on the second gun and results, then I'll be ready with the second Engineering phase.

Yes please. It has been much more than 24 hours

I am running Book 1 of Dead Suns for my local group. Sounds grueling to go through it in one session. I thought we could do it in two nights but we are going to have to finish it up in a third night next month sometime.
Also, the operative in my group pointed out to me that Skill Focus does not stack with Operative's Edge, so I need to recalculate my math (and buy a Mnemonic Editor eventually, I guess :-/ ) a little. Still pretty sure I can't fail the normal piloting checks with this ship though.

Go gunners; with the absence of D.T’aar, I say D.Borde should gameplay both shots. Bonuses, as of now: +1 from engineering’s computers to one shot, +2 from captain to one shot, D.Borde has +2 inherent to his shot and D.T’aar +1 inherent to his. Engineer’s action applies to damage rolls. One or both of you could target the potentially explosive rock floating by our opponent, but Spunky will disavow he ever suggested it.

Yeah, early on pilots outpace the ship DC's but later on it looks like it might even out. I think the more important thing is the role in initiative. The gap also makes pilots more adventurous by making more heroic things like flybys more possible.
I ran it for a society group in "campaign mode" which is the easy way to get level 1's through it without worrying about CR creeping up on them. It was a haul and I think I'll probably need 2 sessions for book 2.
I also finished up GM'ing a nearly 2 year long Giantslayer game today. Great story :)

Hi guys, just wanted to say that I am just starting to get what you are doing - still have not even read the mandatory pages of my core book. :-)
So please Spunky take control of Don in the space battle.
Thanks

Okay, just know we wouldn’t judge you for posted mistakes in the math or formatting. I’m new at this, too.

You can do it, Donovan! :)
Just copy the gunnery roll from the previous gunnery post, and add flavor text (if you'd like).
Starship combat can be a bit confusing, especially in pbp.
@GM: Could you include a "who's next", in your gameplay combat posts? It might be easier for everyone to keep up.

If we want, I can let the captain make the decision on which section to aid before I make the engineering rolls each round.

That is why I have been stating what phase we are on - the only one that order actually matters is movement.
PENDING: flyby shot for Round 3
ON DECK: Engineering and Captain declaration are on deck for Round 4
If you want to pre-post for the next round, fine. But please no more than one phase ahead to limit confusion. Probably best if we limit it to Engineering/Captain phase since gunnery has to be figured after movement is over.
Here is how I will do this from now on:
I will post what phase we are currently on and what we have pending and what phase is coming up. Once I call for that phase of the round, folks will post their results.
1. Engineering/Captain declaration
2. Initiative for move
3. First side move / science
4. Second side move /science
5. Gunnery

I think that the extra attack from flyby replaces one of the attacks you normally get. That is, if a Gunner wants to fire for flyby AND for their normal Arc during the gunnery phase, they have to take the -4 penalty for operating two weapons. Alternatively, another crew member can temporarily give up their normal role and act as a Gunner instead.
That's my understanding, at least.

I re-read it again and, and yeah, I agree with that now. It doesn't get used very often and I think i conflated the free shot they get if you fail it with the shot at range 0.
I guess it's really just a nice way to drop a torpedo or missile on an arc that doesn't have a point weapon on it. So at level 8 that's a 10d10 antimatter torpedo plowing it with no chance of being shot down.

Low-tech weekend for me 3/24-25. Bot me generously, same strategy for the most part, e.g. restore shields next round.

you should ask GM Tyranius how he does it. Kai has piloted a ship in scenarios run by Tyranius at least once and it was pretty smooth. Fast, even.
I cannot really judge the mechanics but I really like Liam‘s narrative creativity and it makes the combat really fun. I cannot really participate properly but I am enjoying the rpg part a lot. ;-)

Also, pact worlds is out today.
I'm a subscriber, so the physical copy has been on my bedside table for over a week now. Still hasn't been added to the Additional Resource page though. :(

Thursty said it should be in soon-ish. I'm just hoping they open up some races for play.
I feel like that's unlikely until season 2. We will get new Alien Archive Boon cards in... 3 months or so.

I have options. I've accrued 3 race boons, plus the store one. I hope they drop a few more player race boons along with scenarios.

Ok, just testing my combat set up, not that there will be any combat anywhere or anything...

Qaru: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Spunky: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Zez’ka: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
D. Borde roll off: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Kai roll off: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Necrovite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Hey Spunky! How do my character stats change with the new temporary armor and weapons we just gained? Can you help me with that?
THanks!

You’re going from 2/4 armor EAC/KAC to 5/7, so boost your ACs by 3. You also go from 1 to 2 AC penalty on dex-based skills, and lose another 5 feet of movement. You’re proficient with the heavy weaponry, so that’s an automatic weapon capable of doing 1d10 Piercing damage with a range increment of 60. You can shoot it with a +2 to hit, and you can go full automatic, which basically fires all remaining bullets at everything within a 30 ft cone. The GM might have to come in to sort that out if you choose to use that power. You could slap your arcane rune symbol on the gun if you want instead of your sword.
I think we just made you a character from Space Hulk, and that has me worried about what we’re up against.

Source verbage
When you make a full attack with a weapon in automatic Mode, you can attack in a cone with a range of half the weapon’s range increment. This uses all the weapon’s remaining ammunition. Roll one attack against each target in the cone, starting with those closest to you. Attacks made with a weapon in automatic Mode can’t score critical hits. Roll damage only once, and apply it to all targets struck. Each attack against an individual creature in the cone uses up the same amount of ammunition or charges as taking two shots, and once you no longer have enough ammunition to attack another target, you stop making attacks.
So 1 target per 2 rounds remaining in the weapon, roll to hit all affected, no crits, roll damage once.
GM does paperwork and goes "hrm" a lot.
It's a move action to reload during your next round. I've seen mixed results with full auto in play so far.

Adding a character token, for those new to pbp / google slides:
1. Open your profile
2. Right click the character image, select "copy image address"
3. Open the map link, go to slide 7
4. Insert -> Image -> By URL
5. Paste the copied image url, then "insert"
6. Resize to match the squares and drag to the correct place

So, when you run this scenario - the magic to the duel is to keep your aft to the the Vesk ship so they can't shoot you. Maneuver lets the ship you guys have turn 0, so you can do that at will. They won't shoot the asteroids but the party can without violating the duel. I've found it best to stop the fight when it is clear the PCs are going to win.
If the party doesn't agree to the duel, they will shoot whatever arc and even use the asteroids against the party. They will fight till crippled then.

Kai was trying to keep at least kind of in the spirit of the duel.
