Game Master Liam

A Starfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-4.

A missing Starfinder ship's distress signal would have gone unnoticed were it not for a passerby detecting it and selling the information to the Society. The PCs are to travel to the crippled starship, and once aboard, reach the bridge in order to piece together the tragic story of the vessel's lost crew. Only by unraveling the mysteries of the drifting starship can the PCs hope to uncover information critical to the Exo-Guardians future operations.

Content in Cries From the Drift also contributes to the ongoing goals of the Exo-Guardians faction.

We have space for one more at the table. All we've done so far is intro and prep with no encounters so far.

Yeah, it's going to be a bit of roleplay for now and weekends tend to be slow posting anyway.

Thanks to GM liam for letting me join and a big thank you to Spunky for creating this character over the weekend!

I am a long time PF player but completely new to SF and also quite new PbP.

I need some time to get into the SF rules and understand the character's capabilities. Good thing about PbP is that I have time. ;-)

If you have any suggestions on potential actions that my character should take please contact me as I appreciate the advice!

We've mostly just been doing intro and RP, if you want to intro/describe and ask the Kalo or any other party members any questions before we get into the next section, go for it. There's at least one soldier related conversation going on. Then we can wrap that and move on to the next section.

As stated before, Qaru doesn't have much skills for starship combat:

[captain] Diplomacy +4, intimidate/bluff +0
[science officer] computers +0
[gunner] gunnery +0

So either a captain or a secondary gunner.

@Donovan: You could be a gunner, or engineer if Spunky would like some other position.

I think Zez'ka had some skill for science officer?

Zez'ka will be Science Officer.

She's also a good gunner though, so if you need help on guns she can always switch over to lend a hand later.

Spunky can take Captain to start, move to engineer if we need it. I would suggest D. Borde start on engineering, but switch to guns if that seems what we need. Really not sure on suggestions for D. T’aar or Qaru. Maybe guns, then switch to Captain if Spunky vacates?

Diplomacy mostly, but bluff, intimidate and skills that can assist others are also help at low levels.

Paraphrasing the rules,
The Captain gets to choose the following actions once per round 1) encourage aka aid another (+2) with diplomacy (or a skill that matches theirs)
2) demand (intimidate) another player’s roll for +4 at a higher difficulty and once per player per combat.
3) taunt (bluff or intimidate) the enemy ship once per combat to make them take -2 (or -4 as a harder DC) during that phase of combat for 1d4 rounds.

Ok, so here's how we'll do the space combat.

1. Engineering Phase - declare and do engineering actions.
2. Pilots roll initiative (I'll post that)
3. Assume loser moves first. Scans first
4. Winner moves second, Scans second
5. I'll post arcs and then guns.

I think this is the most efficient way to do it.

Also, lots of RP as we go. :)

GM, there is an extra space in the link that is broken up-thread. If you remove the space, the link works.

Would you please add the map link to your GM profile so it is visible on all of your posts in the gameplay thread?

Also, I think Kai's piloting skill ranks get added to the TL value of the ship as well.

In my experience, if each character does what they think is best for their role, *and communicates with the rest of the party about what they think should be happening next*then the space combat can be pretty snappy.

or 1d20 + piloting ranks + dex mod + ship bonus

Also factor in any help from the Captain (assist)
The engineer will designate who has the ship bonuses.

yeah, you guys can fire - just work out who is firing what weapons. You are in the front arc. Turret and front arc weapons can be used. Small laser cannons are at -2 due to range. Each weapon can only be fired once per turn, even if you take a -4 to fire twice, it has to be different weapons.

Fired for Donovan B, since he asked (it's still his bonuses). Can't switch jobs in character until next turn, but I think he wanted to understand the bonuses. Donovaan T can fire the other forward arc guns (light laser, 2d4 damage) at a +1+1-2 for dex, ship bonus, and range increment.
