Lucius:

Dear Lucius,
please tell me what you consider is the border of my territory. Being boxed in to the south, west and east just gives me a bit breathing space to the north. Also I would like to start building roads soonish at first opportunity to connect the rest of our fiefs with the highway to Restov and New Stetven.
I admit, I would love to keep to the hills and leave the plains to you!
Kind regards,

Queen Flaith:
My Dearest Queen,
As always, words from you fill me with joy and patriotism. Why, it was just yesterday that I was telling my dear friend Precious that I was missing you greatly.
As for roads, I have been building them wherever I explore. I agree that travel is important. I intend Carnivalia not to only be a pleasure zone, but a center of culture from all of Golarion. Perhaps one day you can visit!
Speaking of which, you ask about our borders. I would not presume to tell my queen where her territory ends! If you would like the hills, they are yours! I'm not much of a climber myself, if I am honest (which I often am). I ask only for the area directly southwest of Oleg's and my mansion. My scouts have found a source of a potent male virility drug and while I have no need of it now, age waits for no man.
As for the fey, some have said I have a kinship with the sprites and pixies, and some travel could do me good. As you well know, I'm not much of a fighter, but my words rarely fail me. If things do take a turn for the violent, I have put out word among the rowdier of my entourage and area, and could bring in an expert on those matters as well. I shall look forward to seeing you on our oppointed day.
Anyway, duty and pleasure call. I've decided to build a library in my burgeoning town, and I am going to hand pick the erotica section from my extensive collection.
Yours Faithfully and Fabulously,
Baron Lucius Pence

Govannon sees the first victims of the plague in his morning visit to the church. It becomes quickly apparent that this illness could overwhelm his fledgling Barony, and he has little with which to stop it. He refocuses the attention of his cabinet, trying to get everyone to do a little extra to help the people suffering. He knows he’s bleeding money, but this is what governments are for in his mind.

He spends some time every morning at the church and, eventually, the other places where plague victims are gathering. Though it won't help the plague, he freely grants his healing touch on any who would ask for it during the time he spends in places of healing. He's careful not to heal at other times to avoid being overwhelmed with requests.

He sends letters to the other Barons and the Queen, warning them of the plagues effects, and providing suggestions on how to battle it. Things they’ve found that have worked. Or at least a list of what hasn’t…

He also plans, with some excitement, to join the others at Galendir’s. He needs a break from the heartbreak of plague, though he makes great gains this month against the disease.

If anyone is sending Govannon aid to fight the plague, here is how it will work. You can "donate" BP to the effort. For every 1 BP you send, he gains +1 on his check against that event. Galendir hasn't sent word out about the plague in his own lands (that I've noticed), but this option is available to him as well if he struggles against it and requests aid as well.

Govannon:
A small dwarven caravan arrives at Vista with supplies and priests of Torag to help you combat the plague. The support Dolgrin's men are lending you grant you a +1 on your check against the Plague Event this turn. They make sure to tell you that Lord Girndmar wished he could have sent more, but an earthquake has happened at Nighthelm and he has to make certain none of their work is in danger or damaged before he can chance helping more.

Aayalla continues to see to the people if not for her and some of their students the plague would have ravaged their house. While doing so Galendir makes sure the Castle and Villa are both prepared for their visitors. He eagerly awaits the arrival of the Queen and the other barons. Wishing to stomp out the evil fey and put ease to the settlement in Tatzylford. He sends another letter to the mayor there letting them expect their arrival.

Letter:

Mayer of Tatzylford,

You have probably noticed i have expanded my holdings. I will be expanding to the NW now as my growth needs the support of some farmland. My scouts have reported your people's weariness. I am a bard and adventurer. The life or ruling a house is new to me. I have no desire to take anything from you or your people. I invite you to come to Anwaar, though it is in its infancy, one day I hope it is a cultural hub in the green belt. If you need anything please reach out to me. If a day would come that you wish to join my house, know we would be honored to have you. I wish the same prosperity for you that I do for my own people. We will come and meet in person later this month. The new queen and other barons. We can discuss what is in the future for all of us. I understand and honor your willingness to go it alone, and I would see you as an ally to House D'Arden. Please except these goods as a token of good faith.

Best regards,
Baron Galendir D'Arden.

Galendir will send 2BP worth of goods along with the letter.

Flaith:
As you and your people enjoy the fine weather, you finally feel as if Fate and the Gods are smiling upon your efforts here. You've found a gold mine, the sun is shining bright and warm, and despite some unfortunate happenings, things seem to be going well.

Festung comes bounding through the castle to find you, however. "My Lady, come quick! There's been some sort of trouble at the mine! The workers are coming back injured, reporting casualties!"

The two of you arrive to see a group of bedraggled, wounded workers surrounded by a rapidly growing crowd. "We...we were just getting started on getting the mine up and running. Reinforcing support beams and the like," he says as a healer wraps his bleeding head and eye in a bandage. "It was...it was on us before we knew what hit us. Killed everyone it could get a good grip on! Chased us all the way out of the mine and halfway here! It was toying with us it was!"

The crowd begins to murmur anxiously, and Festung steps up and says loudly, "What was it man! What attacked you?"

The crowd falls silent to hear as the injured man turns to notice Festung and Lady Aredhel, his body trembling with fear as he recounts the event, "The...the dragon!"

The crowd gasps with fear and a new, fearful muttering rolls through the people of Balley Chashtal...

He must be driven off or killed. Preferably killed.

We will do both the Fey and the Dragon this turn. I just wanted to give you and Govannon a chance to rid the lands of its plague again to put that behind you and move on. Before we do anymore kingdom turns, we will hold off and handle those 2 scenes. Dolgrin is agreeable to help with both.

Galendir:
You receive word that Anwaar has received a visitor. Half expecting to meet this Mayor Rezbin, you go to meet them and are instead greeted with the sight of Lord Dolgrin Girndmar stepping out of a wagon, clad in full plate armor and a black cape hanging off his pauldrons. Over his chest is a black tabard emblazoned with a silver hammer resting on its head, crested over by five silver stars. He smiles as he walks over to you, wrapping you in a hard dwarven hug as he says "Och! Lad! Ye look ta be doin' right well fer yerself ou' 'ere in these woods! "Baron Dolgrin. I am happy to have you here in my land. Please come enjoy our hospitality and we can sit and talk." Galendir escorts Dolgrin into the castle where they can sit and meet.

"I had given the river some thought. It is fresh water but full of algea and silt. Some renovation may be in order. My people were not hit as hard as Baron Govannon. I appreciate your offer, but for now we are fine. My wife Aayalla has assured me the last of the sick or getting better now as we speak. We will be ready to build and expand again next month. Your arrival is fortunate. It seems we have received letter from the the queen while you were in transit. Not only will we be sweeping the evil fey out, but her lands have attracted the attention of a Dragon. It seems we are all about to become Dragon slayers at her request. A grand adventure lies ahead. Hopefully the others will arrive soon. Please let me know if you need anything during your stay. If there is nothing else I have some matters to attend. I'm sure you understand." He stands and offers a bow before taking his leave.

”We must continue to expand.” says Emmett calmly, seeing that look in Govannon’s eye.

Govannon replies sourly, ”But we haven’t beaten the plague. My people are dying.”

”Aye the people suffer, but Desna will see us through it. You must focus on the larger picture.”

Govannon grumbles and tries to widen his view, trusting in his priest. The next day, he sends teams to the Southeast to claim another hex and get the ferry going. Farming communities are also established to feed the people that shall come. But he worries, and continues to focus his available assets on fighting the plague.

She will wait in Balley Chashtal for Dolgrin and together they will ride towards Anwaar.
Riding next to Dolgrinn she notices the hard work Galendir has done and pride swells in her breast. "He has done quite a lot of good work here."
But then she sees the sick sitting in the streets and a great sorrow finds it´s way into her face.
"Dolgrin, I wish you could do something for those poor souls. But maybe you can at least help some of the children!"
Arriving at the castle she does some smalltalk while waiting for Lucius and Govannon.

I presume I can't pour BP into it myself to bridge the gap? Thanks to all for the aid. A 1 then a 2 in subsequent rolls are killing me, not to mention the double bad rolls to start it. I think Desna does not smile so much on Govannon as he would wish!

Govannon leaves his people late, and rides Indigo hard through the forest. He's surpassed to find a road so far out, and feels shame that he is not further along. He feels he's quite letting down the team with his efforts.

He arrives in the courtyard breathing heavily from the effort. His eyes are red from too many all-nighters fighting an illness he does not understand and does not have the capacity himself to overcome. It's like punching water.

He hails the others as he sees them, and does his best to look chipper, "Well met indeed! It's been months, but it feels much longer since we rode south together. I have read your letters with interest, but it is not the same as a face to face meeting eh?!" He seems genuinely happy to be among the lords.

When the scouts report the arrival of Baron Govannon. Galendir again rides out to escort him into the city.

"Baron Govannon. I was sad to hear of your trouble. I hope my aid was helpful. I would have sent it a month sooner if you had sent notice. We are in this together my friend. Come a room has been prepared. We are only awaiting the arrive of Baron Lucius. We can then go to meet the fey threat."

Lucius I'm going to great you to move things along :)

Finally the scouts report of Baron Lucius's arrival. Galendir heads out once again.

"Baron Lucius. Welcome to Anwaar. I hope the months have been kind. A room has been prepared. Please make yourself at home. A meal and performance is set for the night. We will ride out in the morning to deal with they Fey. We will then go and hunt down the Dragon that threatens our Queens land."

Later that evening there is a party and feast for all as well as a performance. After Galendir invites all to the castle where they will hold council for what lies ahead.

"My Queen and Fellow Barons. I am honored to have you all here. We have showed strenght already coming to the aid of Baron Govannon, and now coming to help me. We will ride out to deal with the fey threat. This will allow my scouts to then check the land while we go and hunt this Dragon for the queen. Does anyone have anything they wish to add? This will be the first time we will be fighting together. Do we want to discuss tactics?"

We don't really need to talk to know what each other can do. Just think it would play out this way. GM on my flagbearer feat. It would make sense that I fly my house flag, but then the others probably wouldn't get the bonus. Do we need a kingdom flag? This would allow it to benefit us all.

Lucius at least appears unarmed aside from a crossbow loosely strung across his back. "I do so hope fisticuffs and violence won't be involved! A diplomat I can play, but I rarely can make even stage combat look real. If things get worse, though, I do have friends up my sleeve."

"Baron Lucius if diplomacy was an option I would not have called you here. My reports are that of Redhats, a nasty evil little gnomish fey. Their hats are red as they drink the blood of those killed form them. Quickling's another evil fey that can move so fast they can't be tracked. Finally a rare tree, know as a scythe tree. Very dangerous. This is from what our swordlord benefactor said and my student bards could figure out with their bardic knowledge. I suspect a fight indeed. I also doubt the dragon we need to take care of for the queen will go peacefully."

Queen Flaith will look at Lucius with a major raised eyebrow.
"You do not feel well? If your fellow Baron´s need Help. I am a bit disappointed. No more than a bit, I am quite disappointed.
I just hope your... confidante is helpful!"

"I feel fine, but, as you well know, am not a fighter. I came to use my gift of gab to help us all. In a fighting situation I assure you my presence would put us at a disadvantage rather than help. I trust my advisors completely, and if they say this man will help, he will. Now, if you needed something charmed or seduced, or if you find some sort of wine golem, I'm your man. I am unarmed, barely know how to use the crossbow I have, and armor is bad for my pores. Not all of us can be as multi-talented as you all."

”Honored lord! I cannot begin to express my appreciation, and the appreciation of my kingdom, at your kindness. Your wife’s medicines and other support were incredible and turned the tide. I know, I should have asked for aid sooner. I mentioned it in a missive some months ago, but when things took a turn for the worst, I was too engrossed by what was happening.” Govannon shrugs ”I will do better.”

Brightening, he shakes Galendir’s hand, ”If there is anything I may do for you, please do not hesitate to ask. I am in your debt. When we have finished with the Fey and the Queen’s business, I plan to approach the lizard folk to my west. Assuming good relations, I hope to expand that way and connect the road you have so thoughtfully begun - and trade may more easily flow between our baronies.”

He presents him with a wooden carving. It shows a reasonable likeness of Lord Galendir and his wife, against a backdrop of trees, each carved more as a pattern than as individual trees giving the foreground figures more depth and a sort of aura.
woodworking: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

”Thank you.”

He takes a moment to rest and freshen himself (including liberal use of Prestidigitation for general cleanliness) before joining the others.

”Redhats huh? I know little of the fey creatures.” Govannon frowns as Lucius seems to be bowing out of the expedition. ”Good Baron, we can use any aid you may provide, if not in person, then by proxy. For we are not all things to all people surely.” he looks to the Queen, hoping for understanding.

Later that evening, when the group has split up, Govannon visits Queen Flaith, as well as Baron Dolgrin, in private.

Queen Flaith:
”I want to personally thank you for your help with the plague my people have suffered. Your aid was much appreciated, and meant the difference in lives lost. It will take me some time to recover, but I shall with your aid. I humbly thank you.”

He digs into his pack, and pulls out a wooden statue, about 18” high. It shows the Queen, a magnanimous and kind look upon her face as she blesses a crowd - well a few heads of a crowd anyway, at her feet.
woodworking: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

”I carved that myself. Still not happy with your visage, but I had to go from memory, I hope it’s not too bad.” he grins as he hands over the statue.

Baron Dolgrin:
”My baron, I wanted to thank you personally for your aid. Your priests of Torag were most skilled and helped save lives. I hope the statue came to you unbroken. I was not happy with the effort, and wanted to make another, but you know how it is - no time for what’s important.” Govannon grins, ”I said before, and I’ll say again, if there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to call upon me.”

Galendir takes the wooden statue.

"A most generous gift. Thank you my friend. The aid is the least I could do. We are in this together after all. I was hoping you would want to expand into that territory. I am in need of farmland and will be expanding north to do so. If you need aid with them even if it be diplomatic please don't hesitate to ask."

He then looks back to Baron Lucius.

"We are happy to have whatever support you can offer. Thank you Baron Lucius. Well my Queen if you or the others have no further business I suggest a good nights sleep before we venture out in the morning."

Looking at the wooden statue Flaith smiles.
"A most generous gift. I will find a place of honor in my castle!"

Govannon:
Dolgrin waves off your thanks. ”Don’ sweat it, lad. I ‘elped ye this time, ye ‘elp me tha next, eh? I ain’t seen tha carvin’ but I’m sure it’s just fine lad. Now tell me, what ye think o’ this Fey an’ Dragon business?”

As Lucius rants about the unpleasantness of fighting, Dolgrin just rolls his eyes. ”Get yerself a backbone lad! Thars more ya life than ‘avin’ a good time. Yer people won’ follow ye if they get a good look a’ yer belly an’ see ‘ow yella it is.”

"Thankfully not everyone requires their leaders to be barbarians like dwarves do. As long as I provide my people with happiness and safety, they won't require me to be a monster-killer. Not that that isn't a useful skill. We all have different gifts, Baron Girndmar. They aren't all focused on the battlefield. I came here in good faith to offer my talents, which, unfortunately, are not of use in this situation; not for schoolyard taunting. Need I remind you I was selected for this position by the same people who selected the rest of you? They saw my usefulness, and my people are happy. Not every ladder to power is covered with blood. Had I known more about the actual mission here, I'd have sent an entire party more suited to warfare and not wasted my own time." Baron Lucius stands up in a huff and brushes off his robes. "Good night my Queen. I assure you any envoy vouched for by my advisors will be one well-suited for your task. Good night fellow barons." Lucius retires early to his wagon, to upset even for wine.

Dolgrin:
"Well thank you none the less. The carving is OK, but not great. I've been struggling lately to find the time, you understand." he grins at the dwarf.

He shakes his head, 'The Fey? Well, they're neighbors aren't they. Gotta try to deal with the neighbors pleasantly, though if they're as nasty as Galendir says it could be tough. Might be we're just fighting the whole way. I dunno."

"The dragon has me worried though. I mean a real dragon? I've had some fights, but nothing like that. I'm not great with ranged combat you see. I can manage it in a pinch, but not nearly as effectively. I imagine against a dragon, I'm going to need to be effective, so yeah, that one has me uneasy."

"You ever fight a dragon?"
- - -

"Good night Lucius." Govannon says weakly. He's clearly uneasy by the confrontation, and perhaps a part of him worries about the fellowship with such splintering so early on. He wonders how the Queen will resolve it in the long term. Can't have two neighbors squabbling after all.

Flaith looks at the others and shrugs. One can see she is a tad disappointed. Nevertheless she shrugs and addresses Galendir.
"Baron Galendir,
how do you plan to proceed from here? These are your lands and I will support you to the best of my abilities. And I will trust your expertise!"

"I don't see a better way here then direct assault. They will not like us entering their land. The fight will probably be brought to us. These creatures are some of the first born in this world. Their evil is ancient and without chance of redemption. A basic search and destroy. Much like we will need to proceed with the dragon after. Once we handle the main threats the cleanup of the land can be handled by my people."

Human

Govannon nods, "They're your neighbors, you know them best. I can hasten one of our battles, so keep that in mind on the first round of combat. I try to save it for the most vexing battles, but it's not always so easy to see what that is."

"I can also fly briefly and quite frankly, " he grins widely, "I love it. It's unimaginably fun so I do it when I can. Otherwise, I'm an in-fighter. I like being in the action when I can, and I do my best work there. I hope that's helpful to the team." he says sincerely.

female Human Sorcerer (Tattood) 7 AC | 15/T13/FF13 | HP 53/53 | F+5 R+6 W+6 | Init +6 | Perception+12

Flaith nods and smiles to the others.
"Well then meet again tomorrow morning so that we can ride with the first morning light!"

Dawn arrives, and the group of Lords...or those they send in their stead...have begun to gather to be off to deal with the Fey. Dolgrin’s black cloak hangs limply in the windless morning, and a thick fog has settled over the Narlmarches.

He looks to Galendir and grunts ”A bad omen. Especially for marchin’ abou’ in Fey infested forests.”

Lemme know when 2 or more are ready and I’ll proceed.
