Yep! Welcome!

Mouse Sootscale |

Good morning, okay, I am working on buying things, and moving stuff around but here is mostly complete. I've run her by the GM and he didn't scream NO, go away, start over, so here she is.
Background Summary (the rest is in the alias): Swallowed up by an earthquake as a child, adopted by Kobolds, raised in stealth, traps, and the dark, freed her new family from drow slavers, was blessed by Cayden, took to saving more and more whenever she could. Made it up to the surface, her family joined the Sootscales, she left to find her old family, adventure a bit, but the family had passed so she came back.
Her build revolves around working well in a team without the team particularly working well with her. Kobolds swarm, so lots of bodies working together, but she (adopted) was always different from everyone else so figured out how to fit/help/protect on her own within the swarm.
What is the name of the kingdom?

Thank you very much for the name, Niadroub. Not often I get to make a level 12 out of the box, so yep, much more complicated than I'd do progressing normally.

hitpoints: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Vibenia Scaeva |

Very nice!

Mouse Sootscale |

Okay, think I am done. Bellflower Barn named correctly, hit points settled, and... oh, now that all was settled I went through rebuilding to make sure I took things that were available at the right level and I had a mistake.
Improved Outflank and Blades Above and Below both required +6 attack bonus so I couldn't have both. So changed Improved Outflank with Overwhelm which in truth is better for her. She flanks when threatening the same foe with an ally as long as that ally is medium size (not much of a problem with all you humans) and the enemy is small or taller.

Vibenia Scaeva |

That's pretty awesome when you visualize it. It's essentially 3-dimensional flanking. Also with Dusk (Vibenia's wolfdog) you shouldn't have any problem having a flank partner.

Vibenia Scaeva |

You beat me by 2 mins Niadroub! Deleted my post since you're really the ideal person to answer Mouse's query anyway.

Niadroub Kliip |

Yeah, NK was the only PC who was around back then. It’s weird to think about.
But Vibenia and Dusk can be moving with NK and Waffles through the town! I think it would work better, anyway!

Vibenia Scaeva |

Alright, I'll have to adjust my post a bit.

Mouse Sootscale |

I got a post in before heading to work. Sorry if it makes you adjust again Vibenia!

Niadroub Kliip |

Hey team! With the unfortunate departure of Colwyn, we've lost the last player who was interested in maintaining the Kingdom Tracking sheet for the Republic of the Kamelands. And I'm not even sure how Colwyn felt about it, because we haven't had a Kingdom Building turn in quite a while.
Personally, I'm totally fine with this, since the Kingdom Tracking system, while neat, doesn't really affect the story. It didn't add anything for me, but I was fine if someone else wanted to maintain it.
(But if anyone else is interested in it, speak up! I'm not trying to block anyone from spreadsheet roleplay. :) )
However, the main aspect that I think is fun from the system, and that does have obvious roleplay benefit, is the kingdom's various leadership roles. And those haven't been updated in a while.
Let's update the list! Today! Right now!
Ruler
- Colwyn Orlack (former PC, Rogue/Slayer)
Consort
- Vacant (but this is obviously Melianse, who is an NPC)
Heir
- Vacant
Councilor
- Zelera (former PC, Cleric of Erastil)
General
- Reknar Heldergast (former PC, I forget the class, and this user has re-used the alias, but it was a warrior type)
Grand Diplomat
- Svetlana Leveton (NPC, probably a commoner or expert)
High Priest
- Jhod Kavken (NPC, cleric of Erastil)
Magister
- Niadroub Kliip (current PC)
Marshal
- Vibenia Scaeva (current PC)
Royal Enforcer
- Kesten Garess (NPC, probably warrior or fighter)
Spymaster
- Richard Harmon (former PC, vigilante)
Treasurer
- Oleg Leveton (NPC, probably a commoner or expert)
Warden
- Akiros Isimort (NPC, I recall that this guy is a reformed bandit ex-paladin-now-barbarian)
So I think Marten and Zelera should definitely take up leadership roles. Mouse, too, but story-wise she should ease into after an excursion or two, probably. I think it's a conceit of the game that the PCs are all in leadership positions, and that seems the most fun. To my mind, any NPC or former PC role outside of the ruling family is up for grabs. Descriptions of the roles are here.
Thoughts?

Mouse Sootscale |

I agree Mouse shouldn't be, Hi, then Hey you want to become a leader. She could join with another of the leader positions so we don't disrupt the flow with having to decide how the other goes away. Like an assistance kind of situation.

Svetlana and Oleg Leveton are the couple from Oleg's trading post back at the start of the adventure. They are non-adventurers. Kesten Garess is the brooding leader of a mercenary squad from Brevoy, he's a low-level fighter.
Zelera (under Counselor) is not a "former" PC, no matter how much Niadroub might wish otherwise.
Marten would be loath to displace an existing person and would prefer to only take a leadership role if a vacancy should naturally arise (e.g. the Grand Diplomat or General retires, dies, or changes allegiances).
I am usually invested in Kingmaker build sheets, if those are going to continue to need attention. (My understanding is that they matter a bit around book 5, when you have to raise an army.)

Niadroub Kliip |

Zelera (under Counselor) is not a "former" PC, no matter how much Niadroub might wish otherwise.
Oooh, sorry. I literally winced when you pointed that out. Sorry, Zelera! I do not wish otherwise!
When I was making the list, I was expecting to see another name there who was a former PC. I've been traveling for work, and it's been exhausting, and my mind isn't at 100%.

Vibenia Scaeva |

I could see Marten as General given his Leadership. People do retire.

GM_DBH |

I believe Niadroub means Elena, a former PC and Cleric of Erastil is the Councilor.
I'm not too fussed by the Kingdom details and much preferred the system in the Kingmaker PC game for claiming land. So rather than hex by hex we'll have you claiming whole regions when you need to.
So you have a solid block on land under your control from Oleg's in the north. The Varnhold to the east, and once you finish this books encounters you will hold all the land to the west until reaching Fort Drelev.
Nothing really happening down south.
New map showing just how much land you have in the Republic of the Kamelands up top. I still have to add the markers for the various settlements. Including the Sootscales and the Lizardfolk.
Don't forget the notices as well for extra gold and magic items. :)

Vibenia Scaeva |

Yeah, been looking at the notices just today. Vibenia is always up for a hunt, and reducing the threats in the wilds of our region.

Mouse Sootscale |

A notice would be a good trial for Mouse as well, to see if her sword and skills are worth accepting her debt.

Zelera |

Out of curiosity is there, by now, some kind of Fae embassy possible? I was thinking that maybe some friendly fae created a barrow of some kind that Zelera could use as an office for her role as an ambassador from the fae.
The role of Councilor makes a lot of sense to me, she was sent as the ambassador of the fae for that very reason, to gain the ear of the lord and try to make the kingdom friendly to the needs of the fae.

Vibenia finds Niadroub's horse friendly and affectionate, giving her no problems as she returns it to the stables. :)
That flea-bitten sonofa...
Also there are some encounter areas around Armag's tomb. Do you wish to deal with them? Monster encounters and a little loot
If the loot is interesting, I'm for doing those encounters.

Vibenia Scaeva |

Same I'm all good with the encounters

Zelera |

I'm with Niadroub's opinion on this one.

Mouse Sootscale |

As a newbie, just happy to be included :)

Niadroub Kliip |

I feel like we should rename Ft. Drelev, seeing as how we liberated it from Baron Drelev, killed him, and sent his widowed wife packing.
It's on the Hooktongue Slough, but "Fort Hooktongue" doesn't roll off the tongue. Maybe Fort Orlack, after Colwyn? It was his last foray into the field before settling down.

Vibenia Scaeva |

I definitely agree with the renaming. Fort Hooktongue could work, but I agree with it not having as good a ring. Fort Orlack could definitely work, and would remind the people there who liberated it.

Niadroub Kliip |

Waffles casts the spell, becomes visible. Range for Burning hands is 15' at most. Speartooth is large and has +20 to jumps. He hits Waffles and is initiating a grapple.
It's greater invisibility, so Waffles doesn't become visible when he attacks.
Also, are you thinking of long jump? If Waffles is 15' straight up, that would be a high jump. According to the high jump chart here, the DC for a 15' jump would be 60.

GM_DBH |

Ok, firstly say that it's Greater invisibility rather than just that Waffles goes invisible! That saves us from this situation.
As for the jump, reach of 5' so it's a 10' jump to swat with a paw. Added to which Speartooth is large so he's not starting at 0' I ruled he could make it.
Besides that chart is for humanoids and everyone knows cats are better at jumping. :)
But as it never happened...

Niadroub Kliip |

Hate to be problematic, but is there a reason we'd be seeking out and killing the Aurumvorax? Has anyone voiced to us that it's a threat? Does it attack us on our way to Armag's Tomb? And, looking at the map, I guess I have similar questions for the Chimera pride, just to the east.

No update sorry, car problems have kept me rushing around all day trying to get if working again. Stinking hot day as well so I'm really washed out. :(
Did get the car working thankfully. Though it will need to go in and get a serious servicing.
@Niadroub. The Aurumvorax's will attack you if they see you. They are vicious predators and extremely aggressive. Taking them out will make your lands safer.
Much the same with the Chimera, who hunt the wild horses in the southern plains, but are happy to take a shot at anything that look edible and comes into their sights.
Clearing up the these along with Speartooth makes your new town happier. :)

Vibenia Scaeva |

Vibenia would be VERY big on taking out the deadly apex predators that make the region dangerous for anyone traveling in the area and would cause problems for trade ad general safety.

Vibenia Scaeva |

I vote we go after the Aurumvorax next. Definitely a danger to anyone in the wilds.

Mouse Sootscale |

Biggest threat first seems very reasonable

Niadroub Kliip |

Besides that chart is for humanoids and everyone knows cats are better at jumping. :)
On a whim, I looked it up. A cougar can jump up to 20 feet vertically. So, yes, Waffles would have been toast.

Zelera |

Going to have to handle this post after I get home today, too much looking up things to handle it at work.

Niadroub Kliip |

Mouse nods along with the plan, but does point to the large cage in the center of the camp as the location of the prisoners.
Shoot, sorry. Things are pretty busy, but I thought I'd try and squeeze in a post. I forgot to reference the map, first.
The map shows a river or stream that we'll likely have to cross. It looks like it's 15 feet across where it's most narrow. Any indication how deep it is? Is the water moving swiftly?

Vibenia Scaeva |

Since we're likely heading into a series of nasty fights, people may want to look at te loot to see if there's anything that'll make for a useful upgrade before we wade in. Some pretty solid armor and weapons on the list.
