Richard Harmon |
I've set up two aliases, one for the Social and one for the Vigilante Persona, it'll help keep things clear about when he is running around in what persona.
The most obvious things about Richard Harmon.
1) He's a Noble from Mivon but has some family ties with House Lebeda in Brevoy.
2) He's a competent swordsman and has recently been furthering his skills in Restov.
Richard Harmon |
It's alright though I was preparing my first post and immediately realized, a horse why did I forget that?
Serafina "Switch" Koenig |
Thanks for having me. I've stealth-dotted the main thread while I work on a post. It won't be until after work sometime, though.
Colwyn the Toad |
Hello everyone. Thank you for having me along.
Xantria Aldori |
Thanks for accepting Xan.
Incidentally; if we're starting in Restov rather than near or at Oleg's, then a bit in Xan's profile ("The Ambush") wouldn't have happened. That was set while she was on her way from Restov to Oleg's and was originally written for a game where I was joining later on in part 1.

GM_DBH - For the charter link to Google Drive, did you want us to request permission with an account or are you going to modify the sharing options?
GM_DBH |
I will modify the sharing options, but am changing things on my Google drive to have two different folders. One for each party. I doubt you'd do things exactly the same as the other group.
Since I changed things to start in Restov and give you time to get to know each other, and maybe have an encounter or two to warm you up. Your first question is how you're getting to Oleg's trading post? Horse, cart or foot?
Elena Voritzova |
Hi guys!
Excited to start a new game.
I still need to buy most of my mundane gear. I have a bunch of gp left over after combat gear so I might get some scrolls.
Already made a post about travelling with mounts in gameplay.
Horses are nice, but a regular light horse can get killed pretty easily. We will likely encounter animals who may not be interested in humans but will go after the horses.
And walking may not get you there as fast, but so what? It means that instead of saying "The Next Day..." the GM says "Two Days Later...". Not a big deal, really.
Elena Voritzova |
Just a note, Oleg's is about a day away on foot. There is a road there that merchants use, after that it's wild country.
I take it we are not using the original map then? The map from the module made it about a week away.
GM_DBH |
Hmmm, had to really dig it up since the module didn't state it anywhere.
About 90 miles from Restov to Oleg's, which is about 7.5 hexes on the map. Average party speed of 30 covers a plains hex in 5 hours. There is the South Rostland road between Restov and Oleg's, so I'd say 4 hours a hex on a dirt road.
Which works out about 2 hexes a day, 3 if you push it past 8 hours travel. 2 days travel if pushing hard. 3 days travel if sticking to 8 hours a day.
There are two stops on the way.
Nivakta's Crossing is about 20 miles out of Restov. It has people living there.
Fort Serenko: maybe another 22-26 miles from Nivakta's, but is abandoned.
Elena Voritzova |

Ah. My first KM game I had a character that moved 20'. I have had 4 kingmaker games die on me. Usually around the first encounter.
Do we have anyone that walks at 20? If not then yeah, that's pretty good. I get 8 hexes and a little bit by the road. But that ought be doable in 4 days if we don't have anyone at move 20'. I'd prefer to avoid rushing though. If something happens to us when we are camped it would be best to not be fatigued.
Mind you, it is also mid-winter. If weather is rough it will take longer.
In the end, we get there when we get there.
Elena Voritzova |
A few questions for the other characters:
Richard: Do you intend to keep your "secret identity" from the party? Or will you tell us? How will your secret identity work when we are in the wild?
Also, does your character still work for the Surtovas? Or are you aligned with someone else, or independent? If you are working for the Surtovas it won't matter in the short run but might be a problem later on. The Surtovas are also kind of evil and definitely chaotic.
Also: If you are Chelaxian then you get Chelaxian as a bonus language. We probably won't meet many Chelaxians out here but you never know.
Xantria: You are an Aasimar. What Aasimar features distinguish you from being human? Or do you have the Scion of Humanity alternate trait, that lets you look like a human without making a disguise check?
Colwyn: Would the rest of us know about your criminal past?
Niadroub: What ethnicity are you? Humans get an ethnic language in addition to common. I think most Rostlanders are Taldane and Issians are Kellid if that helps. Also Toughness grants 3 HP at 1st level.
Serafina: I see you drive a Lexis. :) You also haven't chosen an ethnicity.
Interestingly, it looks like Richard has the highest Charisma in the party with 14. That's unusual for kingmaker games. Usually you get two or three Charisma builds in a party of six.
Xantria Aldori |

The most obvious sign of it is her heterochromia - left eye's grey while the right's a bright gold.
She doesn't notice it (since it's only started happening in the last couple of years) but her right eye seems to glow a bit when something gets her furious enough. She also had a birthmark on her left shoulder (inspired by the "sacred birthmark" option on that Random Aasimar Features table near the back of Blood of Angels) but its since been covered over by her tattoos.
Beyond that it's more of a pleasant version of the uncanny valley, in a sense; she's a little too well-proportioned, you look at her and something feels ever-so-slightly off about her build, but not in the creepy way the uncanny valley causes.
EDIT: I've got other ideas, but they'll be tying in more with some feats she'll be taking further down the road.
Richard Harmon |
For the moment Richard wont be opening up about the alternate persona but he'll probably tell the other party members once they've bonded a bit. I was hoping once we had the Kingdom Established for him to be Richard during the day to day affairs but when something goes down and possible the Crimson Claw just seems to appear. Right now there's limited benefit to the vigilante persona til level two mechanics wise. Thanks for reminding me, I'll add the Chellish later.
I wouldn't worry about Kingdom positions yet, we have to see who is still alive by then!
Serafina "Switch" Koenig |
Who's alive, and who's still with us.
I should probably stat my horse. Believe it or not, the car was a secondary consideration. I use Behindthename for naming characters, and I wanted a German-sounding name that didn't sound like either a supermodel or an East-German Olympian.
As for ethnicity, probably Taldan, honestly. It wasn't important to any feats, traits, or race features I wanted, and a lot of people in this region are Taldan, so...
Elena Voritzova |
Serafina: If you are sticking with the german-sounding name you could also go with Ulfen. The Ulfens migrated across the north and were a big part of the settling of Iobaria (just east of Brevoy).
Niadroub Kliip |
Niadroub: What ethnicity are you?
No idea. I don't know much about Golarion ethnicities. I envision him as a overly defensive backwoods hick who hasn't had much interaction with people outside of his home community. The River Kingdoms seemed the closest environment for that concept.
Also Toughness grants 3 HP at 1st level.
Thanks.
Colwyn the Toad |
I imagine the group knows about Colwyn's criminal past.
When the expedition was being briefed in the town hall, the party would have been told that this former bandit was pressed into service as a guide to the Greenbelt, even if his limited knowledge may be outdated, owing to his time spent imprisoned.
That's part of why I'm roleplaying him so nervous around everyone. He assumes they know he's a former criminal but doesn't assume they are easily forgiving of such things.
Elena Voritzova |
The most obvious sign of it is her heterochromia - left eye's grey while the right's a bright gold.
BTW, Heterochromia or different colored eyes is a trait that all changelings have. Elena is ashamed of her Hag heritage and wears an eyepatch to conceal this.
I don't know if that means people will mistake you for a changeling.

The river Kingdoms have ethnicities similar to those of Brevoy, and culturally Brevoy and the River Kingdoms aren't that different.
The River Kingdoms were conquered by Taldans a long time ago but would have had an indigenous Kellid population. So you could be either, or a mix. There are also Varisians migrating through the River Kingdoms now and then but they are like the Romany of Earth and don't really settle down as farmers.
Kellid (or mostly Kellid) would probably fit the best because they are normally less educated than the "civilized" Taldans. There are also Kellid Barbarians in Numeria to the north. The Kellid language is called Hallit.

Heterochromia seems to be an all-purpose sign of the supernatural - tieflings can have it as well (namely demon-spawn ones who are specifically noted as having at least one asymmetrical feature of their body).
GM_DBH |
So buying another mule? Or piling your packs on the existing animals.
Once you've decided and set up please give me the party order for traveling thanks.
Also please put your HP, your full AC (Touch & Flat footed), Your saves. Init and perception in your headers thank you.
I will roll Perception checks, initiative and saves when needed. We will be using the block Init system.
Colwyn the Toad |
The animals we have should be good.
For party order, I was thinking I would go in second place or on rear guard.
Xantria Aldori |
I'll update the header when I get home, it's a pain to check the Myth Weavers sheet on a phone.
As for marching order, I think it'd be best for either Xan or Richard to be up front.
Elena Voritzova |
If there's six of us we can go 2 x 3 instead of single file if that is better.
Elena is an archer and as such would not want to be in the front. Presumably Niadroub would be in the middle somewhere.
Richard Harmon |
Richard has a slightly higher AC and a better perception I think, he might do better up front for now.
What I would propose for 2x3 is.
Front: Richard and Xan
Richard and Xan can both handle themselves and Xan's reasonably good at spotting things. Hopefully by being lightly armoured melee builds they can lock down targets ahead or redeploy to help other parts of the formation as needed.
Middle: Elena and Niadroub
Elena is in a good position for ranged and can provide a little magical healing if needed. Niadroub can lend ranged support with his crossbow and if the opportunity provides itself he can either hop to the front or back to colour spray the enemy.
Rear: Colwyn and Serafina
Serafina has the range for being in the back not to be a problem and if they get into melee in the surprise round Colwyn has someone he can flank with.
Having a five foot gap between each row would do little to hamper cohesion while making us less susceptible to area attacks.
Just throwing out ideas.
Richard Harmon |
I'm ok for setting off, I think the owners are directing their mounts/beasts of burden.
Serafina "Switch" Koenig |
I'm good with the order, good with setting off, and will be taking care of 'Lexis.
Colwyn the Toad |
The order looks good, and I'm ready to hit the road.
Serafina "Switch" Koenig |
Something I should mention is that in the last couple of months, there's been two deaths in my family (Grandpa in July, brother in August). Starting now, I'll be unlikely to post until Monday, most likely.
Colwyn the Toad |
You have our sympathies.
Richard Harmon |
Sorry for your loss.
Richard Harmon |
No problem. Get well soon.
Elena Voritzova |
FYI guys expect my posts to slow down a bit shortly.
Here's what's going on.
Right now we have a staffing shortage at my workplace, and I have been pulling extra shifts. This has left me pretty tired and worn out. I also expect to be training some new hires soon (though I'm not sure when), and since I do most of my posts from work it is unlikely I will be able to post much on those days, but we don't have a schedule for that person yet, so I don't yet know which days I am doing that, and I may not end up knowing until I arrive for my shift. So since I may not have any warning I'm letting you guys know now. The training will probably be spread over three days.
After that I am leaving for a much needed Vacation on September 30th. I expect to have internet access, so I should be able to post in that period, though it may be a bit irregular.
Sorry for any problems this might cause, and if I don't respond in a reasonable time bot me as needed. Things should be back to normal for me in mid-October.
