The only other check that I can think of would be K Nature.

This is a refined poison of blue whinnis. It lasts for 2 rds. 1 Con dmg / Unconscious 1d3 hrs. Though one save negates the effects. You think there is 3 to 5 doses of the poison in each of the vials.

Looking around he shrugs... He offers, "I don't see anything of worth, let us go check out another of the towers." Upon a nod or agreement he quickly leaves the tower and heads over to the other side of the tower, the North Eastern tower.

The northeast tower is open to the sky, its roof and interior levels having fallen away long ago.

Hundreds of disease-ridden rats inhabit this ruined tower.

Quince looks at the ruined tower and then to Jorne, "Hear anything? Rats huh. Well I guess we should check it out." He looks to the others to make ready pulls out his bow and nods to Jorne. When the door opens he calls out in Celestial then in Sylvan, "Rats lots of rats."

Not sure how we were supposed to play that. The spoiler gave the description and the monster but Jorne hadn't opened the door. But I wanted us to keep moving.

He takes a quick look around and sees something. He nods to Jorne in agreement but then sheaths his great axe. He then begins to climb up 20 feet to a ledge. Taking his time, taking a 10, for a 21 on climb.

Seeing what is in the urn he says, "Katrina, catch!" Then he would toss the clay urn down to Katrina. Before climbing down he would take a minute to thoroughly look for anything else of value or another hiding spot. Taking a 10 on Perception for 1 minute, 16.

At the door to the NorthEast he offers, "should I use my breath weapon?!"

As he likely gets an affirmative he holds his axe to the side and gets ready to breathe fire.

She was watching for a threat to come but it never did. After Krazok said her name she looked up and got ready to catch the clay urn putting her bow down for a moment.

At the NorthEast tower Krazok and her join the others later. Hopefully you wait for them.

With preparation she casts and prays for guidance on each of you, a +1 on your next check.

She listens to the rats using her speak with animals ability and shakes her head, "They just have one thought... food." Knowing that little else could be done she pulls an arrow and readies to shoot.


No worries Quince, it was intentional. I was sure you would notice them and likely prepare. So state what you do to prepare, then surprise round!

The rats are mostly caught unaware as the door likely flies open and spells fly!

"Go for it." Quince then readies a horn. "Open the door. Krazonk breaths, then get out of the way. I am will play some sweet sweet music for the rats. If they are still around. You don't want to be in front of the horn."


Surprise Round

Cleo is welcome to add an action if she wants to as well.

Jorne opens the door Krazok breathes his fire breath in a 15 foot cone. Quince if you don't want to play the music through Krazok you would need to get in front of him.

Reflex DC 19 for half: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Krazok's fire breath almost dispersed the swarm at his feet though it doesn't reach the other swarms.

The swarm advances over and around Krazok affecting Jorne and Quince as well. The plethora of rats swarm over you scratching and biting. You each take 1d6 ⇒ 5 damage. On your turn Fort DC 12 if a swarm in in your square. Then the rest of you get to act as the other swarms seem to wait their turn.

Taking his fiery sword in hand he tries to hack and slash at the rats around him and even on him. Though with the multitude of rats and a lucky one who bit his hand he nearly dropped his sword.

Quince waits for Krazok to move out of the way just as he does Quince Jorne and the dragon man all get swarmed by the swarms. He winces as a few rats find a tender spot.

Fort: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28 Can my save help someone else. I passed it twice. (kidding)

The horn slips from his hand and he goes to catch it. The horn bounces as he fails to catch but keep it aloft. On the third attempt he grabs the horn.

That's what Quince does until the complete bottom of the turn order.

Katrina first moves back 30 feet. Now well away from any of the rats she takes aim and lets an arrow fly.

The rats continue to spill out of the tower. Going for Cleo and the others, 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 more damage and on your round Fort DC 16, the distraction increases as more swarms are upon you!
Cleo backs up and stays with Katrina.
Krazok is able to disperse the first swarm but there are thousands more!

Round 2

The one swarm sticks to Krazok as the other three go after Jorne and Quince.
damage to Krazok: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Fort DC 12 for distraction.
damage to Jorne and Quince: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6) = 18 DR applies to each of the d6's separately. Fort DC 16 for distraction.

Quince runs a quickstep sliding in front of Krazok. As he slides in the grass. His feet kick a few rats away. He raises the horn to his lips aiming away from friends but toward as many rats as he can. "Be ready this might wake the neighbors." He puts the horn to his lips and a long low blast erupts.

Ye old Horn of Blasting DC 16 Fort for 1/2: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4) = 30

He lets out a blast that sends rats flying in a furry blood mist.

Through the use of the horn and added magical damage from Cleo most of the swarms disperse, only one remains on Jorne and Quince.

Quince pulls his scepter and brings it down hoping to scatter the rats.

"Yes that may be true but I think we can handle any trap that may be here, like the portcullis. Just keep your eyes out!" He smiles and enjoys the banter as he moves along seeing nothing but debris, rat bodies, bones, and more debris.
