BloodWolven |
The location for my second campaign. Three to five posts a day, when you can make it.
S'ala |
double dot
Quince Medvyed |
Triple Dot
Wait a minute we for got the circles our coutie shots will not work!
Kevros Droverson |
Err Quintuple ... or is it Pentuple Dot?
Anyway, checking in.
Quince Medvyed |
LOL only one human . . . Well and Quince who thinks he is.
S'ala |
[i]"Another non-descript tavern, in another non-descript town,"S'ala sighed to himself as he entered the Ivory Lass. He was footsore and weary from his weeks on the road and despite his training, was beginning to question the purpose behind his travels. He was always moving from one place to another watching, observing for sign of balance and opportunities to teach the Lotus Path to others, but so far he was mostly frustrated.
"How much for the common room and meager fare?", he asked in his strange accent. He sat his pack down and rested his feet in the common room near the fire and began to look around at the rest of the crowd.
Masota Kaedin |
Masota recited the directions given to her over again in her head as she stared at the building in front of her in disbelief. This had to be the place. But why the swordlords chose this place was beyond her. She read the name of the place and shook her head. "Who names these things?" Still, she might as well investigate the place. If they didn't have what she came for then they might be able to at least give her better directions.
She stepped into the building, pausing briefly at the entrance to look over the place. If she can find someone who appears to be the representative from the swordlords, she'll make her way over to them. Otherwise, she'll approach the bartender. "I was told to expect an agent of the swordlords here. Would you know where I can find such a person?"
GM Wolf |
The sourly dwarven bartender finishes what he was doing and turns around, "For you free if you spend the night and be a bouncer for me" talking to S'ala.
"Ah, yeah lass, the hooded figure over there you are 'ooking for,"in the Dwarvens harsh accent.
I will be doing D&D with my friends at my house tonight, I won't be able to do much until after 10 pm
Kevros Droverson |
While leading Kismet and Hala throughout The Free City of Restov, Kevros follows Masota to find the Ivory Lass in order to acquire a charter to the Stolen Lands. They quickly find the Inn ... "Masota, I am going to go turn in our mounts at the stables closest to the Inn and I'll make sure they are well taken cared of. I'll be right back." ... He leads the horses to the stables.
At the stables, Kevros asks the stable hand ... "Well met sir, how much will it cost to turn in my horses here with the best of care and security?
I am guessing that the starting point is in Restov because of the key word Rostland in the Kingmaker Guide and it is a major city near the Stolen Lands. If I am wrong, I will change it. Golarion drives me nuts, the detail doesn't even compare to the Forgotten Realms. Then again, I am comparing apples to oranges, The Forgotten Realms has been around whole lot longer than Golarion. Perhaps in time?
Masota Kaedin |
"Thank you, kind sir." Masota gives the dwarf a quick bow before making her way toward the hooded figure he pointed out. She extends her hand and a smile to the stranger. "Masota Kaedin. I hear the sworldlords are interested in hiring a few brave souls."
Quince Medvyed |
Quince enters pausing in the doorway looking about the tavern. He places a free hand on the doorframe and mutters a blessing. "Erastil watch over those who enter here in peace." He moves into the room smiling politely to any who look toward him. He pulls off his gloves and tucks them into his belt. He looks about hoping to get a feel for those he sees, looking to see if there are any here that he remembers from his last visit here a few months back. perception: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Approaching the bar he nods and smiles to the dwarf barkeep. "I will take an ale."
He slides a few coin across the bar and leans closer to the barkeep. "I am here to meet a representative of the swordlords. I hope I have not kept them waiting long?" He takes a draw on the ale as the tender points out the hooded figure. Nodding again Quince thanks the barkeep and makes his way over to the hooded figure and the blonde warrior.
"I hope I am not too late." Quince addresses the hooded figure. "I am Quince Medvyed. At your service." He turns his attention toward Masota and goes to greet her politely. Visibly caught for a moment he notes her blue eyes . . . "Uhh hi." He looks away and takes another sip of ale trying to recover.
Angeus |
Angeus walked through the streets of Restov, heading for the Ivory Lass. Tolen had told her to meet up with a Swordlord representative who would reveal the plans for her and a few others.
As was usual , she takes a circuitous route passing down alley and thoroughfare in equal measure.
Finally, she arrives at the inn and steps into the dark main-room. Nodding to the bartender, with whom she has a passing acquaintance, she raises an eyebrow in inquiry.
A nod from the dwarf indicates the hooded figure and the trio who had already arrived. Tossing the dwarf a few coppers, Angeus makes her way to the table.
"Greetings, I guess you're all here for same reason I am?" she says, then to the hooded figure "Angeus, Tolen's student...he said you had ...how did he put it... the opportunity of a lifetime?"
S'ala |
S'ala sees the small group gathering around the hooded figure and makes out some of the conversation about hiring adventurers. He has had a brief experience with such trade, and his innate curiosity nags him. He gets up and moves closer to the group the better to overhear their discussions.
Perception: 1d1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
There is a lot of background noise as the place has gotten busier, so does not hear much more than the odd word or two.
GM Wolf |
Kevros Droverson the stable hand responds to you, "Three silver pieces, and your horses will have the back stable, most safe and full rub downs, and all the grain they can eat but not to much."
Restov is the city/town you are starting in, where the Ivory Lady resides.
The hooded figure responds to Masota, "We are looking for some souls, that would be right but we would like to know who will be taking one of our charters, also you will need at least four people of renown."
The Dwarven barkeep, delivers you a pint of ale post haste and says to Quince,"You and all the poor bloks that think, all they need to do is swing a sword or axe, most get turned away for lack of renown but the hooded figure talking to that armored boy over there is who you are looking for, thanks for the tip. Haven't I seen you in here before?"
The Dwarf just says,"Yuuup." As Angeus walks by and he catches his coins.
The hooded figure looks up at Angeus, "Yes, Tolen is your chip in, we just need confirmations of their renown." Indicating the other three.
S'ala, did you agree to the Barkeeps proposal?
Quince Medvyed |
"My father was Torren Medvyed, slain 4 years back by bandits in the south. Until last autumn I oversaw Medvyed timber holdings south along the East Sellen." Quince pauses looking a little sad and wistful. "The priest Jern, my tutor for many years suggested that my skills both in cartography and experience in dealings with stranger creatures of the forest might be of use in the campaign to the south." His face takes on a stern ice. "Though I have considerable reason to see the lands to the south made peaceful. I lost a father and a number of lumberjacks to the bandits among the Stolen Lands."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Masota Kaedin |
Masota gives Angeus and Quince a quick nod when they address her but keeps her attention focused on the swordlord.
When the swordlord declares that he requires 'people of renown', Masota's smile changes to a look of mild annoyance.
"Very well. You require people of renown. I travel with a man named Kevros Droverson who once fought for your nation of Brevoy as a soldier. I'm sure you'll find his military record impressive enough. As for myself, I have little use for renown. I am a chosen of Sarenrae and giving my life to her service is all that I strive for. If Sarenrae's blessing is not enough to prove my worth then I suppose we have little else to discuss."
S'ala |
S'ala considers the bartenders offer of free room and board. He knows how light his purse is and the ascetic ways taught in the monastery. 'Working for your keep is a noble path' he hears repeated in his head.
He nods gravely to the dwarf barkeep. "I will do as you ask."he says resignedly in his monosyllabic way.
He pushes back his cowl revealing his shaven head and hard features and stands resolutely at the bar, eyes roving over the crowd. Again and again his eyes are drawn back the group in the back talking with the one they addressed as "Swordlord".
Quince Medvyed |
Do we have any idea about each other? Have I heard of Angeus tutor? The others might know that Medvyed's have timber holdings in the Gronzi forest.
"May I see the charter?" Takes a moment to read the document. Quince takes a moment to look over the charter. Leary of such agreements having heard stories that others in his family have lost money and reputation in business dealings.
Is it assumed we are familiar with the charter? Quince is a trained cartographer so he will pay close attention to the quality of the map, if it is there. If the map seems to match his knowledge of the region. If those that are behind the charter are reputable.
Profession Cartography: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Knowledge Geography: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Knowledge History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18Trying to get a feel for the hooded swordlord rep as well as the others gathered.
Naturally I would concerned if any taxes are owed back, if they are reasonable, and if there is a time period. Yada yad.
Quince looks up at the others sizing them up a moment. "Do any of you wish to look over the charter." Politely offers the others a chance to see.
S'ala |
Being a stranger in a strange land, S'ala would not know any of you or likely have heard of your family either. Not sure how we'll fold him into your group, but an opening will happen...
BTW, those are some good rolls, keep it up!
Quince Medvyed |
I took Geography, Cartograpy and History. When am I gonna get another chance to use them. Just fit in this context. LOL
GM Wolf |
Yeah Quince nice! I do not have access to my laptop or notes right now, the charter basically gives you rights to map out the stolen lands, dispense with any bandits and monsters at your will and do not become a bandit yourself. Pretty straight forward, go make maps and make sections safe for the chance to claim lands for yourself. Others will likely be given the charters as well, though you will like that not everyone is being given one. The sword lords throne recognizes this charter, it is official. You are given no map.
Quince you would know of Tolen a half elf rapier master, he trains nobles sons so that they can survive a duel if need be, also those who can last the first two months learn to be leaders in the soldergy.
If they do a knowledge
Kevros Droverson |
At the stable near the Inn ... "Thank you sir and here is 1 gold piece and keep the change for extra special care and security for the horses." Kevros waits for a nod or acknowledgement while searching and gathering any loose gear, nods back, and jogs off to the Ivory Lass.
Kevros enters the Ivory Lass, looks for Masota, and quickly walks up to her and anyone else gathering around her ... "Masota, can we get a charter? ... Are these fine people joining us? ... If so, I guess the gentleman here is holding it?"
Quince Medvyed |
Quince smiles. "You must be Kevros. I am Quince Medvyed. Masota speaks highly of you." Quince offers Kevros a hand in greeting. Quince motions to Angeus, "This is Angeus." Quince takes another sip of his ale.
Turning to regard Angeus directly, "Tolen is a formidable teacher. I have heard his services as a master of sword are highly prized."
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros cradles the crossbow in his left arm, smiles back, nods to Masota for the compliment, and then turns his attention back to Quince to shake his hand ... "I am and well met ... then turns his attention to Angeus and nods ... "Well met Angeus"
Quince Medvyed |
GM Wolf |
Four burly individuals walk in after the group has those few exchanges. The obvious leader, a halforc, in spiked breastplate with a red hand symbol on its chestplate, points at the group, "You will not take our charter!" they all pull their weapons.
Roll initiative!!! The hooded individual smiles and says, "Well we will see which group will get the charter based on this battle, clasitrez vogrtfdr xerikrez!" he disappears with that!
The Dwarven barkeep yells at the groups,"take it outside... Hey throw out the brutes for they started it and Angie is my girl!
Angeus |
Angeus exudes and air of competence; in the well-worn,well-maintained leathers she wears, to the excellent quality rapier at her belt, to the functional location of smaller blades seen on other parts of her body.
She stands comfortably in the company of strangers, a medium height half-elf, of auburn hair cut sensibly, grey eyes piercing not missing anything. Meeting Quince's gaze she says "Tolen has taught me much, his forbearance is such that will never be forgotten."
To the others ,she nods a greeting "Kevros....Masota...you are all well met. I suggest once we've all read and signed the charter, that we sup. Shared bread and wine is a sure way to make friends of strangers."
Angeus |
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Turning her head, "It would seem that our dinner may be delayed somewhat." she says, loosening the stays on her rapier.

Quince Medvyed |
Iniative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Shouting moving to draw his weapons. "We have no quarrel with you and no need to endanger others gathered here."
S'ala |
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
S'ala sighs deeply. "The Path of Peace is filed with pitfalls. Why must every disagreement end in violence?".
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
S'ala moves between the 2 parties, no weapons in hand. He raises his hands in a calming motion towards both groups.
"My friends, there is no need for violence. Let us discuss these matter in a peaceful manner. I am certain there is a resolution.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Masota Kaedin |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Masota spends several minutes looking over the charter, only looking up from it when the half orcs bust in to the tavern. She scans her eyes over the newly arrived group. "If your idea of problem solving is just kicking in a door and demanding what you want then you don't deserve the responsibility of this charter. In fact, your reckless attitude will likely end up getting you killed."
"Sarenrae does not wish to see undue suffering. However, if you wish to persist, I would ask that we take this outside."
Kevros Droverson |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Kevros sighs, "Yes indeed Angeus, our signing and potential dinner plans has been rudely interrupted." He calmly brings his crossbow up to bear aiming at the lead Half-Orc's head, for now anyway.
BloodWolven |
I am going to be switching things up some... I will be posting here with BloodWolven Primarily, my OCD is kicking in a little. Anyone know how to change the title of the campaign?
BloodWolven |
Truely, now you can enter the Ivory Lass...Click to enter and see where is your character... If you want a border or not, just make a note in the discussion, I can also change the border, but only a few options.
BloodWolven |
Now the other patrons have an idea of what is going on, some quietly start to get up from their seats, knowing that all hell could break loose in a moments notice. As the tension grows in the air you can tell some of the patrons are not interested and continue to drink their beverages, as others have pure panic on their faces. Do these calm individuals mean to be friend or foe... or neither? If for some reason you move the map, don't worry see if you can just hit the undo button, if not I will fix it, we can move the background, though you shouldn't try too.
I am going by initiative, I am waiting for Angeus to make her move first, whatever that may be, then S'ala, Masota, Half-orc leader, thug 1, thug 2, Kevros, sneak, Quince, Dwarven Barkeep, thug 3, townsfolk (4)
Angeus |
Angeus, still not having drawn her weapon, walks calmly to stand beside the strange new bouncer. G8
"I'd rather not spill your blood all over these fine rugs "she says sardonically .
"The cleaning bill would be horrendeous." she comments quietly to the bouncer.
Now that she's closer, Angeus will try to determine if she knows the half-orc Knowledge(local) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Quince Medvyed |
I moved you to G8 Angeus. (Just trying to help, hope that's cool).
S'ala |
Awesome map, btw. I recognize some of those individuals!. So is my action above (the Diplomacy check) fitting into this Round 1 action now? That's the way I understand you're comment.
Kevros Droverson |
Masota Kaedin |
Sorry for posting out of initiative but I'm not sure if I'll be able to post later tonight. Just posting now so I don't slow anything down.
Masota places the charter onto the table and walks over to join Angeus and the bouncer. She points back to the table where she left the charter. "That charter represents a lot more than personal gain and glory. There are thousands of souls out there, hoping for something different. For a better life. And I cannot allow you to take that away."
Masota's gaze grows stern and she locks eyes with the half-orc in the front of the group. "If you proceed...I promise you I will stop you."
Quince Medvyed |
No worries Masota you were next! LOL I moved you next to S'ala.
BloodWolven |
S'ala, yes I have moved you and your action is done.
The half-orc, seems to settle down and puts his weapon away. He motions for his men to do the same. They follow his lead. "We lost our charter to that group of *blasted* monks, what do you suggest?"
Many of the townsfolk settle down as well, though several take the moment to quietly get up and walk out the back door. Kevros and Quince please post your actions again, or adjusted. Anyone may continue after them for it seems that you will be out of rounds.
Masota Kaedin |
Masota gives a heavy sigh as the adrenline in her body seems to settle down. "I'm glad you're willing to talk. I judged you as thugs and I'm happy to see I was wrong. We had no wish to steal anything from you. Perhaps we can come to some sort of agreement with the swordlord...wherever he went off to." She takes a few glances around the room looking for any sign of where he went.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Masota stops and thinks for a second. "The solution may be as simple as signing all together as one group. I see no reason to refuse the aid of an extra sword arm."
Quince Medvyed |
Should we consider ourselves in initiative still?
