@Norvallen

"Ah Rostland. I see that is close. I know nothing of the politics you speak of though. I will take your word for it."

@Minakeh

"I see. I live around here. Two days walk into the stolen lands. The lands this expedition is to explore. I was being taught here by a nobel the art of swordsmanship, but he is away and wishes me to serve his name by joining this expedition. Also the lands are becoming overran of bandits, they all deserve to die for their crimes."

His emotions quickly change to anger and frustration as he speaks of the bandits.

@Anghus

"Nice little tune, but the lady is right, We eat on these tables. We don't need the mud and horse shit of your boots littering about on them. I know the name Cheliax but nothing of the place. Perhaps a song from there would tell us of it."

@Zartana

Tristan smiles as she begins to talk a bit on the naughty side. He is young and lacking of experience, evident as he shy's away from her.

I'm including a bit of a description. I didn't have a physical description written up when I made my first post and I look a little different than the general description in my profile at the moment. Just want you guys to know what you're seeing so you can react appropriately.

Description of Gaspar Now:

Portrait of Gaspar

Gaspar is a pretty man, no doubt. Particularly for a thirty-something year old half-elf. Standing at 5'10" and weighing in at 178 lbs, he isn't particularly large or small - whether you're judging him as a human, and elf, or a half-elf. When he's the clothing that he's made to wear in the company of nobles, his physique seems fairly unremarkable. His musculature isn't particularly bulky or noteworthy , though it is difficult to size him up accurately when he's wearing the baggier and showier courtier's clothing.

Gaspar's skin is a light - almost golden - brown color. While a little lighter than many of the humans that hail from Osirion, no doubt a result of his obvious elven heritage, it is still very clear to any who see him that he is from a sunnier place than Brevoy. His hair and small bit of chin hair are a solid midnight black, but his eyes are strangely an icier blue color that contrasts heavily with his skin and hair. His ears are clearly pointed, but obviously too small to belong to a full blooded elf. His jaw is square and strong, leading to his somewhat larger chin. Though large, his chin manages to not seem bulbous and just accents his long face. He has a somewhat long, but narrow nose that's quite proportional to his face.

He is currently wearing Osirion courtier's clothing, which is very baggy and almost entirely white. The exception to this being the ruby colored front piece of cloth that turns itself into a half cloak around the back. His hands and ankles down to his feet are also wrapped in light silky material with ruby colored embroidery that meets the rest of his clothing's embroidery nicely. He is also wearing a couple of jeweled ear cuffs, an amulet that appears to be only for show, and two rings. One of the rings is encrusted in a few very tiny rubies while the other just looks like a solid platinum ring with something engraved on the outside in elven. Anyone who looks closely and can read elven can see 'To my son; I love you. From your father; I am proud. If we don't say it, this means it.'

Cassandra Lupin:

When you saw Gaspar before changing his clothing, you got a somewhat different take on his appearance.

When he's wearing his standard attire there is a lot more room to move and a bit more skin showing. His shoulders are about as broad as an average human tapering to a thinner waist, but still what might be considered only a little thinner than average for a human. His muscles are very well defined. His biceps, and indeed arms in general, are no larger than average, but every detail can easily be made out throughout his arms which is what can also be said about his chest, back, and torso.

When he saw you looking at him just before approaching the building, he looked over at you and smirked, giving you a subtle head nod before continuing.

After Lord Alystair had taken his scroll, he nodded to the human who had followed just behind him Minakeh.

"That's why I'm here. That's what I'm guessing this lot is here about." Gaspar spoke assuredly, though in a bit stronger of an Osirion accent now.

He kept a lighthearted smirk on his face. Gaspar had to remember that Osirion was his first language. Speaking Teldane might cause him to come across as a bit of an ass. A bit more of one than he already was anyway.

"We seem a colorful lot." Gaspar pulled up a seat and leaned back in it. Then, glancing now at the gnome. "Perhaps some of us more than others?" Roonfizzle

Gaspar Khemet wrote:

Spotting Lord Alystair wasn't difficult. Gaspar quickly, but composedly, made his way across the bar to him.

"Good day. Lord Alystair I presume?" Gaspar spoke only a little shakily. Subtle enough to make him proud of himself. Assuming a confirmation of his question, Gaspar removed the scroll from its case. "I am Gaspar Khemet. I have a letter addressed to you from my father. I am here regarding your expedition into the Stolen Lands."

Gaspar held out the scroll. Despite the slight nervousness one might detect in his voice, his hand was eerily steady.

Lord Alystair takes the scroll, a twist of wry amusement on his face, "Thank you. Long travels, I see. I doubt you expected to be one of the least exotic applicants here today."

Tristan d'Arden wrote:

"My lord. I am Tristan d'Arden. I was told by my lord Cedric Orlovsky that you received a letter on my behalf. I wish to provide my services as a guide to your venture into the stolen lands. I am well aware of the bandit problem as I just left my home. I buried my parents there no more than a few days ago. I returned to find them slain. I have honed my skills with a blade under Lord Cedric. Please allow me to join in your exploration. I know the land well."

The lord accepts the letter and answers somberly. "We shall see, but you seem to have a better reason than most to come along."

Anghus scowls at the scalding from the female drow. He laughed it off and remained setting on the table. " Correct way to act in front of a noble? That's hillarious" he continued to laugh and shook his head slightly. " The rich bastards can like it or lump it, they don't deseve any more respect than those they exploit to serve them."

" Well I'll be a gobo's uncle, I didn't even see ya come in. The two of us hiding in the underbrush could really cause some chaos for those bandits south of here! Well Met Roonie, I'm Anghus!

@Tristan
" I suppose that's some better reasoning Tristan, but as Roonie and our little Kobold friend can attest to, it's a human's world, and sometimes you just like to see your peers eye-to-eye." He double-checked his boots, they weren't too dirty. " Furthermore, I'd rather not sing about that pit, I'd rather not even mention it. But there a nation of big-heads obsessed with tyranny and rank. Militant and devil-worshipping, and they've got a nasty habit of enslaving and sacrificing my kind...All-around just really a nation of a&*@%!#s, frankly."

Huh!? When did you show up?

@Norvallen
M' names Minakeh Deepriron. I'm a rostlander too. But I've lived my whole life on the estate of Count Bogoro Lodovka outside New Stetvan.

@Anghus
Minakeh cracks a smile at Anghus' song and laughs.What kind of man would I be if I denied having a drink or three?! I get the attention of a barmaid and get a large tankard of ale. I raise the tankard and yell, Måtte drikke som går ned, ikke komme opp igjen! and take a hearty Ulfen swig.

Translated from Skald:
May the drink that goes down, not come back up!

@Tristan
Sounds like you really don't like bandits. I can't say I've ever dealt with them personally, but I've overheard enough from the Count and his merchants to know that they are, generally, not good people.

@Jamahzin"]

the light level is fairly low.

As you enter the taproom and begin to adjust your goggles, your vision focuses on two men rushing from the side of who can only be Lord Alystair. Their weapons are drawn and they knock several chairs to the side as they rush to your position.

A young bearded man with a large hammer stands and lifts the weight high. Everyone stops at a sudden imperious voice. "I SAID ALL COMERS! LEAVE THE THING BE!"
The two bladed men back slowly to the noble's side and the man with the hammer sits again. Lord Alystair indicates that you should approach. "Pray you have an invitation, beast." He accepts your letter with no sign of concern and reads.

"Be careful. You have my protection here, but outside these doors you are a monster. I'm amazed you even made it here alive . . ."

Stella yells down the stairs, "Slip! Get the guy who looks poorer than you some water. Don't bother to clean the glass!

Tristan stares a bit as the lord speaks to him, just long enough to become uncomfortable.

"Forgive me my lord. My master was teaching me proper talk and manners and all, but I still have a ways to go. Is it alright to go sit with the others now."

Cassandra scurries into the tavern at the sound of commotion, one hand on the kukri at her side. The red scales did indeed belong to a kobold and some didn't take kindly to his appearance. And that was enough for her. She takes a protective position behind the kobold, a kukri in hand, and wild look in her eye. Indeed the shy, clumsy girl from before had been replaced by a beast. Her teeth seemed sharper, her eyes more predatory, and her presence more intimidating. When they backed off so did she. She takes a deep breath and let's it go. "You are not a monster," she says more herself than the kobold.

Lord Alystair looks with a touch more attention at the awkward girl. "You have a touch more spirit than I originally gave you credit for girl," his voice cools noticably. "I would be careful how you spend it. The beast is in no danger. I strongly recommend you sheathe your weapons."

You notice you finally have the attention of the young man with a hammer, and the Warriors at each of Lord Alystair's sides have crossed their swords in defense of the noble.

Cassandra growls, yes, actually growls at the men still trying to look threatening. Cubs compared to the bears in the forest she called home. "The beast probably has a name and was courageous enough walk in unarmed. They could at least respect that before pouncing." She maintains a defensive posture but does sheathe the weapon. This was a harsh reminder of the truth of things. Pride told her to ignore the attention of the man she was supposed to ask questions of. But practicality told her to use this opportunity. "You done ogling enough to speak full sentences." Compromises.

Female Human (Taldan) Bard 1/Swashbuckler 1

The door of the Randy Sasquatch opens once more as a young lady makes her entrance.
She wears a fine black and gold dress that seems fit for higher society, a garland of white roses holds her red hair together in an elaborate hairstyle behind her head while still leaving some locks of hair to frame gracefully her face.
Still her Gown sports a slightly larger cut than customary, she sports high boots with no heels and a beautiful rapier is secured on her side suggesting more practicality to the attire than what a first impression would presume and an adventurous disposition.

She looks around her noticing several patrons, most of them identifiable as adventurers or sellswords of sorts and finally locating the person she really is interested in.

She quietly clears her throat and approaches the nobleman with a corteous smile.

"Lord Alystair Boehnre I presume..." she says addressing him just before placing a hand over her heart and hinting at a small bow with her head.

She then offers him her hand announcing.

"Your grace... My name is Veronica D'Ambrosia, Daughter of lady Eloise of the cadet branch of House Lebeda. I'm at your service Mylord"

"Lets just find a place to sit down, take a breath, and NOT act aggressive near the person we all came to meet?" Norvallen gestures towards the less filled tables near Lord Alystair and his guards. Waiting to see if Cassandra and the kobold will take up the offer.

Looking at Jamahzin he states, "Names Norvallen, and lets get out of the way before something else happens that might scare someone to death."

Who came riding to Whiterun from ole Rorikstead

As he told of bold battles and gold he had made

But then he went quiet, did Ragnar the Red
When he met the shield-maiden Matilda, who said;

Now I think it's high time that you lie down and bleed!"

And so then came clashing and slashing of steel
As the brave lass Matilda charged in, full of zeal

And the braggart named Ragnar was boastful no more-

@Cassandra & Minakeh
Speaking to Cassandra "well, generally... I mean I'm no stranger to the wilds, I've tangled with a bear or two, though usually I end up running when you're living off the land sometimes it's best to avoid fights that could end badly"

"Oh, ugh, thank you, I'm Jamahzin" I sit tentatively, it's apparent he was probably expecting more behavior like the guards' initial response and is unaccustomed to sharing conversation or probably even maybe small talk, though his attentiveness shows he is interested. "Kobolds don't generally have what you call surnames, especially when they don't have a tribe.

"Speak their language, do you?" Jonathan puts down his mug, staring Cassandra in the eyes. "Tell me, where is it you learned the language of thieves and murderers?" His face now revealed, a scowl spreads across his visage. "I do not associate with brigands, neither present nor former. Bandits are a menace, and our goal is to put the lot of them to the sword. Former camaraderie makes that difficult."

He picks up his drink, but the iciness of his stare does not diminish. "Since leaving my home, I have helped to lessen the threat of banditry here on the borders of the Stolen Lands." He takes a drink and massages his jaw, the talking clearly aggravating his scarring."Now, we threaten to strike at its heart. I will not allow former ties, no matter how strong, to threaten this venture. They are a plague, these bandits; we will put them to the sword as they deserve."

Having left to go outside a bit ago to smoke his pipe, Atamar pops his head back in at the ruckus.
@No one in particular
What's going on in here? If there is a bar fight I want in on it!

Seeing no bar fight and several new people, Atamar empties out his pipe and heads over to the group with the Kobold I gotta hear his story.

Along the way he notices the Gnome

@RoonfiZzle
"When did you get in here friend, I didn't see you come in earlier and I didn't see you just now while smokin?"

@Jamahzin
"Hey there little buddy, names Atamar, I see they haven't skewered you yet, glad to know it!" Atamar holds out his hand.

Wowzers, I go to do some chores after work come home to find this place has really kicked it up.

"For humans my age it is weird. Worse, I can't even dye it as the color keeps leaching out within an hour." Norvallen grumbles. "Still though, it does have its uses and if I could loose this hair it would be like loosing an arm."

Looking over the slowly building argument, Norvallen simply sighs. "And things are starting to fall apart. I think I'll stand back and wait this out a bit, rather then try to calm it down again. Not like my past attempts actually worked."

Getting some sleep here, night all! I'll see everyone in the morning.

@Jonathan
Cassandra folds her arms over her chest and stares back at the man. Intimidation got her noticed finally so she wasn't backing down now. "Ever heard of the bandit king that moved into Gronzi Forest and the estate of the Medvyed House? I learned their language there. Their argument was swords and daggers and mine was bows and arrows. I won the argument."

@Jamahzin
It's a pleasure to meet you Jamahzin. Really, no surnames? Minakeh seems confused. I didn't know that a kobold could be without a tribe. If I'm not crossing a line, How does a kobold end up without a tribe?

@Anghus
My toast was in Skald and it translates as "May the drink that goes down not come back up!" Minakeh starts a hearty laugh, finishes his ale and gets another.

@Atamar
I offer my (probably) comparatively tiny hand to Atamar. "Jamahzin, Nice to meet you Atamar." He seems to be warming up to the environment and relaxing, he's probably forgotten all about the guards from a few minutes ago.

@Minaken
After retrieving his hand he turns to answer his question rather sheepishly. "erghm, Adventurers..." I say with 1 part jest, 2 parts harsh. "I got by a few years ago with a small group but with out many supplies it was hard acclimating to the surface." Looking down "let's just say Kobolds don't have a word for Winter.". I then stay silent for a long moment.

After a bit of a silent moment deciding not to dwell on the subject I reach into my pack and pull out a compass. I set it on the table and start rotating it to-and-fro. "have you seen one of these? so fascinating, I think it's called a compass, it always points north... wonder how it works."

@ below, rather than making a new post my expression upon being referred to as sir

@Jamahzin

After finishing shaking the (indeed) smaller hand.
"Well met Sir Jamahzin" The Half-Orc smiles at the idea of a Kobold Knight. "I'm glad that you seem to be making yourself at home."

Realizing that the Kobold seems to be the subject of much attention. "You seem to have a lot of admirers at the moment, so let us speak again later. Though I think" pointing at the compass "that it has to do with magnetic fields or something along those lines. A fellow traveler of mine once explained it to me but I got a little lost in the details."

Looking around the room for a place to sit. Noticing the Bard (Veil) now singing another song, Atamar decides to make his acquaintance.

@Veil
"A fine voice you have there Long Ears, it's been a while since I've gotten to hear such a tune, one sure to raise the spirits! I heard you bit earlier, a bit melodramatic, I think, but beautiful nonetheless. My name is Atamar."

Atamar holds out his hand in greeting.

Male Human (Ulfen/Kellid) Psychic//Unchained Rouge 1

Minakeh smiles.
Compasses are a lot of fun. And Sir Atamar is right, compasses work by reacting to magnetic field which are generated by the world around us. It always points north because that is where all the magnetic fields meet and are their strongest. But with a little magic... Casts Prestidigitation and generates a magnetic field around my right index finger.
you can get the arrow to point not North. Minakeh moves his magnetic finger around the edge of the compass causing the arrow to follow it around until it ended up pointing back north.

"hmm" mimicing some of the magic he saw he starts trying to fiddle with the needle himself, little ripples of faint electric arcing trace over his left hand as he uses his right hand to deploy the magic, unfortunately only causing it to wiggle occasionally. perhaps it is strange that he managed to create the spell effects at all with so little instruction, none can say.

"Thank you, Minakeh, I don't really understand what these fields you talk about are but they seem easy enough to create"

Upon hearing the kobold-turned-Halfling's name, Cassandra seems to come to her senses. "Jamahzin? That whole scene about finding out your name and forgot to ask myself. Sorry." She then extends her hand as Atamar did. "Cassandra Lupin. And sorry for the scene in general. Probably didn't want that to be your first impression?"

She seems relaxed with all the commotion. Everyone jumping. Some with murder in their eyes. The creature qas probably almost dead from fright. Oh well. No more fun to watch. She looks at the small lizzard

"Jama was it? Good day. Dont get lost between all these legs. Or I might lose the chance to see more entertainment. Sit close to me. That way we both have some company. We, I assume, are both viewed in... a bad light" she smirks at the last part.

Most people would wet themselves if they encountered either of them in 'bad light'. It was fun being who she was

"Which is what I hate about it," she says showing some of the fire from earlier. "Um..." Well crap. Now what do I talk about. Can't get into why. And then Zartana saves the day. Cassandra's mind runs along the same course too about meeting either one in a bad light. It was good they could joke about it. And she hoped they were tough enough to defend it. She sits close to the two. Zartana and Jamahzin "I believe I heard you say you were good with alchemy and magic? Can you make healing potions?"

"No. I do not make magical brews. More the opposite to what you ask. My room was more of a basement. Thats what most humans call it. So rats and other critters bothered me a lot. So over time I learned a few tricks to make them decide it was not a safe place to be. Now my room remains vermin free"
