Letter of presentation

proto-background:

Veronica D'Ambrosia is the only child of Luciano D'ambrosia, Art dealer from Pitax, and Eloise Lebeda, youngest daughter of some distant relatives of the main branch of House Lebeda.
That branch of Lebeda family finds itself quite impoverished, and matched Eloise with a rich merchant family while the D'Ambrosia Family hopes to build itself into brevoy Nobility.
As their only child, Veronica is the product of both families expectation, a minor noble of House Lebeda but rich, and the scion of a simple merchant family but with noble blood.
The whole family establishes itself pretty early after the marriage in Pitax where the business of the D'Ambrosia family rests.
Here Veronica is quickly introduced to the Red Crescent Theater and the Academy of Grand Arts where she enrolls as soon as she is allowed to.
She quickly become quite popular among the students, forming her own clique between other popular students with either rich families or lesser claims to nobility like herself, but she also gets introduced to the theater underground Drug trade and dabblers of dark magic.
Veronica obtains through her father a few texts and art pieces dedicated to Nocticula, smuggled from the crusader road, she and her clique start to pay homage to the demonlord, although their reverence is more of a novelty for bored privileged kids rather than real demonolatry, she start to look with favor at our lady in shadow.
She grows her influence with the drug dealers and both her and her father enjoy many years of prosperity through their contacts among both the trading houses and the thieves guild.
By the time her tuition at the academy ends, Veronica became an accomplished actress, extremely proficient in the art of swordplay, learned for the theatrics but battletested several times in the streets of Pitax.
Still, the influence of the D'Ambrosia family doesn't remain Unchallenged for long. As more powerful and determined rivals arises, Luciano decides to safeguard the future of the family and sends her wife and daughter back in Brevoy under the protection of the Lebeda holdings.
Stephen Lebeda, the distant relative of the family who host them, is a young man, formally trained as an Aldori Swordlord, but whose duties as Sheriff of Silverhall and Commander of the Lake Reykal fleet are just nominal and positions of pure prestige that don't offer any kind of real excitement. He has been forced early in life in an arranged loveless marriage with a woman of meager beauty that he finds boring and uninteresting.
He easily falls for the charms of a woman of action like Veronica, and she nurtures his infatuation for a while until she becomes his mistress.
Madly in love, afraid that he will lose her in the long run and holding the hopeless dream that one day, if Veronica reclaims a role of prestige in Brevoy's nobility he will be able to reject his current marriage and legitimize his relationship, he offers to introduce her to Lord Alystair Boehnre, who may have a chance for her to stand out in front of Brevoy Higher Nobility.

Relevant Characters:

Luciano D'Ambrosia: Art dealer and father of Veronica. He comes from a family of merchants based in Pitax, He deals primarily in legitimate trade, but he also has contacts with some Low Templars through which he manages to acquire a few items from the worldwound and possibly traded with servants or the demons themselves. They command quite a price in the black market. He is no worshiper of the demons himself, to him they are just a mean to make riches. He gifted his daughter with a few items dedicated to Nocticula when she showed interest in them.
He does not think that his daughter has any appreciation for it except for the mundane beauty and the poetry in the texts. He would be too fond of his daughter in any way to do something about it.
He is having problems with the Hellknights of fort inevitable tampering with his business after his dealings in abyssal artifacts have been discovered.

Eloise Lebeda: Born as a woman of noble blood but no consequence, she ended up in a rather happy marriage despite the fact that it was arranged for her. She does love her husband (although she probably loves his money even more) and since her marriage she started living the life she always associated with her family name. She is generally supportive of her daughter but a bit detached. She doesn't really know Veronica that well. For sure she knows nothing about her affair with her relative Lord Stephen Lebeda

Stephen Lebeda: A young noble lord with an Aldori swordlord training who idealized his future adultlife until he reached it. He now complains about the difference between the life of adventures he prospected for himself and the boring and meaningless duties he is bound to take as a member of the Lebeda family. He was forced by his family into an arranged marriage and he resents both his parents who forced him into it and his wife who is equally displeased by the arrangement and with which he has nothing in common. He quickly falls madly in love with Veronica and made her his mistress, but he is an honest man at heart and he really would like to turn Veronica into his proper wife instead of sneaking into her chambers acting like a thief in his own manor.

Enzo Cattanei: Merchant from the Cattanei family, the family was once very powerful in Pitax, now it's only a shadow of it's former Glory. He trades in art too and he managed to wrestle quite a few clients from Luciano D'Ambrosia. He might be also be responsible for tipping the Hellknights of Fort inevitable on the trade of Abyssal artifacts that Luciano helped smuggle to Pitax. Since then the interference of the Hellknight into the D'Ambrosia business have slowed him quite a bit.

Eleonora Cattanei: Daughter of Enzo Cattanei. She is a bitter rival of Veronica at the Accademy of Grand Arts. She hates Veronica since an incident on stage in which Veronica wounded her (actually on purpose) during a play rehearsal. That took her out of the stage for a few months and she got replaced with a close friend of Veronica.
After graduation she managed to get close to a high profile member of the Pitax Thief guild, that's when she started to turn the guild against her, a few months before she eventually left Pitax.

Valentina Della Rosa: The closest friend Veronica ever had. She is a member of her clique and she does worship her. She obtained Eleonora Cattanei's role when Veronica got rid of her.
She is possibly truly in love with Veronica, and while Veronica does not feel exactly the same, she is fond of her and she did indulge with her intimate company before.
The two lost every contact since Veronica left Pitax.
