Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.
The expanse of the Stolen Lands has not, in Brevoy’s recent memory, been accurately mapped, and part of the task set before the PCs is to rectify this gap. As they explore the region, they and their companions are expected to keep track of what they find in order to keep Brevoy informed of strong and weak points of defense and to determine possible sites for roads, towns, and other fortifications.
Each hex on the map of the Stolen Lands is 12 miles across (between opposite corners) and covers just under 150 square miles of area. These hexes are provided not only as a way to help define the land (and eventually aid in defining the territory of the kingdom the PCs are destined to rule), but also as an aid in tracking travel through the Stolen Lands.
In this Adventure Path, though, characters will also be taking time to fully explore hexes on the map—doing so takes much longer than
simply walking through a hex. To determine how long it takes the PCs to travel through a hex or to fully explore it, determine the group’s speed (which is set by the slowest member of the group) and consult the tables above. For traveling, the amount of time it takes to cross one hex is listed. For exploring, the amount of time listed is to fully investigate the hex. Until the PCs spend money to create trails and roads, all of the Stolen Lands are considered to be trackless. In some hexes, more than one terrain is present in a hex. In such cases, calculate that hex’s effect on travel as if it were a hex of the dominant terrain type.

Quests!:
You have unlocked the Quest feature! I will place a new spoiler in the header for you to keep track of quests. Please be aware that some quests may be expected to range over a long span of time in this campaign while others will be more time sensitive and require quick action. Any time you wish me to add a clue to a quest, please call it out and I will place it inside the header. See example below.
Quest: Deliver a fair amount of fangberries to Bokken.
Clue: Fangberry thicket 50 miles or so to the southwest of Bokken's hut.
Quest: Locate Bokken's "crazy" brother.
Clue: Man turned bandit may have encountered someone fitting this description. Rumored to be part of Kressle's gang.
Clue: Last rumor places Bokken's brother somewhere to the south.
Quest:Special (Ali) Locate a dragon gizzard and a golem keystone.
Quest: Wanted: Bandits! The bandits in the Greenbelt need to be shown that their actions will not be tolerated!
Reward: The Swordlords of Restov are offering 400 gold once proof that bandit activity in the region has been driven down.
Clue: Capture or defeat several to help cull the threat of banditry in the area around Oleg's Trading Post.
Quest: Find the lair of the Sootscale Kobolds and ensure that they aren’t going to continue being a threat any way necessary.
Reward: The Swordlords of Restov will provide a reward of 800 gp once the kobold activity is under control.
Clue: The Sootscale Kobold Clan dwells in a cave somewhere in the Kamelands.
Quest: Wanted: Tatzlwyrm Head!
Reward: 600 gp for a relatively undamaged tatzlwyrm head.
Clue: Grub claims to have seen one in the forest to the southeast.
Quest: Wanted: Slay the legendary Tuskgutter!
Reward: My prized masterwork longbow and the last of my enchanted arrows for hunting to whoever can finally kill Tuskgutter. If you can bring me the monster's head, I promise I'll even share the head cheese I plan to make out of this trophy.
Clue: (?) Every Greenbelt hunter has a story about Tuskgutter, each wilder than the last! Look at me! I lost my leg to the accursed Hog from Hell. Whoever manages to kill the ill-tempered beast will get a nice reward from me old, retired Vekkel Benzen.
Quest: Oleg’s been under a lot of stress lately, and Svetlana would love to cook him his favorite meal (moon radish soup) to help him relax. Unfortunately, moon radishes are relatively rare. Bring Svetlana a basket of moon radishes.
Reward: Svetlana is ready to pay a 250 gp reward to anyone who can bring her enough moon radishes to make soup.
Clue: A whitish radish which locals say glows during the lunar equinox. This is just a myth.
Clue: A patch grows somewhere between 15-20 miles south of the trading post.
Quest: Although his wife claims it’s not a big loss compared to what the bandits could have taken, Oleg knows the theft of her wedding ring has distressed her. She’s forbidden him from risking life and limb to recover it, but if anyone else can find the ring and return it to him, he’ll be very grateful.
Reward: Oleg promises 1,000 gp in trading post credit if his wife’s ring can be recovered.
Clue: A plain brass wedding ring set with a single pearl.
Clue: The bandits were the last to have it, but they might have lost or sold it already.
Quest: Capture Falgrim Sneeg, alive if possible.
Reward: Kesten can arrange a reward of four masterwork weapons of the capturer’s choice if Falgrim is delivered alive. If he’s delivered dead, Kesten can only promise two weapons.
Clue: Falgrim fled into the Greenbelt to become a bandit.
Clue: Falgrim is described as an older Varisian with graying hair and an very unruly beard. He is a former mercenary, and those who fought with him say he possesses an unnerving calm in the face of violence.
As you can see, definitive clues and uncertain clues shall be listed as black and light blue respectively. Once you're certain of a clue, tell me, and I will update the color.
Everyone has been reviewed, and I believe we are pretty much set to start the adventure. Go ahead and give yourselves each 1 RC for the clever backstories and dealing with my super nitpicky character creation. ;-)
As far as the houserules go, Leoian (Glen the Goblin) pointed out a small disparity regarding how the Fatigue acquiring option I gave Spell-Like Abilities/Supernatural Abilities will affect lesser powers v. the more powerful ones and the potential for abuse using the FP rules I currently have in place. Thank you, Leo, for taking the time to provide that feedback. For now, I will be suspending that portion while I try and work out how to approach it. The remaining
I will have the Fatigue penalties up soon, probably within the next couple of days, but as that won't be super relevant right away, I won't hold up our opening post for that.
Roll20 GM account is up, and I have super mapping ease-of-use tools available that will make combat mapping a cinch. Everyone should go and make a free account if you have not already. Roll20 is free!
Last update is regarding music and sound effects. I don't think I am going to have that ready for the starting posts, but as soon as I do, I will begin doing that for appropriate stuff. I have a slew of background mp3s for fantasy/sci-fi gaming plus I love musical score and orchestral arrangements of many movies and video games that I can drop in here and there to help emphasize fun combats and boss fights.
Everyone get your characters polished up and ready. KingPinMaker is starting soon!
I had some bardic inspiration. First Gameplay post is up, but not the story post that introduces you. I will get that up tomorrow at work. I'm feeling a little under the weather, so I'm hitting the hay early.
I have been thinking about expectations of posting. Requiring posts every single day is just a recipe for burnout. I've decided that I would like to ask everyone to post when possible. Even multiple times a day if you are so inclined. My one request is that people try and target posting maybe five days a week. Or never taking more than two days off in a row without some kind of notification.
I may post more frequently than that, and I may bot your character if it's an encounter scene and it's your character's actions that are holding up continuation. As long as everyone agrees to that stipulation, I think we can keep everyone interested without post overload, and no one feeling stressed because they have to post.
I'm alright with my character being botted during encounters if I'm not posting speedily enough, though I definitely target being responsive especially when my character is prompted, whether it is by circumstance, dialogue or initiative order.
I hate my job, so anything to distract me from it is welcomed. That being said, I don't think I'll need it but if it does feel free to bot me I trust your judgement.
Male Goblin Investigator (Cipher)/2 HP 15/15 AC 19 Inspiration 4/4
I have no problem being botted if necessary I don't intend to not be posting, but I don't always manage to get a post in at work though I usually can in the evenings.
Everyone should have a PM with the player join link for my KPM campaign there. Take a look at the beautiful map of the Dragon's Rest tavern area and the immediate surrounds!
The link will work for anyone, so please don't post it publicly or share it with non-players. Thank you!
Miyari brought up the point that if the dialogue was bolded, it would be less likely to be missed. As I would hate to see anyone not getting responses and interaction, should we go ahead and begin doing that for dialogue?
Oh, yeah, I forgot. You all have set up your Roll20 characters. I have granted access and control of your token to you all. The current map is just a place for you all to test it out. I don't expect there to be a need for us to go to combat there, so feel free to move your pieces around, play with the ruler, and when you're all ready, we'll test out the line of sight and lighting features to make sure it works and everyone knows what to expect when we use it.
Male Goblin Investigator (Cipher)/2 HP 15/15 AC 19 Inspiration 4/4
I was checking out the ruler function, and it looks like it calculates diagonal distance based on the number of squares. i.e. 6 diagonal squares is 30ft, but with Pathfinder rules that should be 45ft I think.
Is there a way to change that or do we just have to remember diagonals aren't measured properly? I didn't see anything in my settings menu.
The ruler is mainly there to calculate the actual distance between objects and help visualize LoS. I do not think there is a way to calibrate it so it "knows" diagonals cost double squares every other one. Being aware of the diagonal move rules PF has will remain our responsibility, I'm afraid.
My character's name will be Kalica and here is her background.
For the extra trait I wanted to go with Reactionary: You gain a +2 trait bonus to Initiative checks.
Also - I want to spend my last 4g to purchase Saddle Bags for my horse so I am not lugging all my gear around. Since, I have such high animal affinity I ride my horse bareback. Her name is Blossom and she is mostly brown with a few white markings especially the white mark on her face that looks like a blossom. That leaves me with 1s and 6p.
Kalica's Background:
When Kalica was young and in love she was sent on a scouting mission to investigate rumors of surviving Elven ruins scattered throughout the most remote reaches of the Stolen Lands. Along her journey, her and her love Galan came across a village that was being attacked by bandits. The small village was burning to the ground and most of the village had been slaughtered like cattle. Among the fire and smoke a cry from a small child could be heard in the distance. Kalica and Galan had reached the village just in time to rescue the little girl from the burning building. As Kalica dashed in to rescue the little girl, Galan fought off the bandits. There was little time for celebration. As Kalica cleared the burning village she could hear Galan yelling back, "Run and save the little girl. I will stay and fight!" All Kalica could do was console the sobbing child as she looked back to see her love be overwhelmed by the marauders and murdering him before her eyes. Fighting back her anguish and moving quickly through her blurry vision of tears she made it back to the edge of the forest. From there she grabbed their horses and hosted the little girl upon Galan's horse she then kicked her horse and pulled on Galan's horse in order to hurry them through the forest trail before the murderers could reach them.
Once she got back to her Elven kin and stood before the council they said they would do nothing. It was not their home and it was never an Elf's place to interfere and that avenging the death of Galan would solve nothing. To console her grief Kalica decided to help the little girl. Brought her to a town and visited her quite often when she was not attending to her duties as a scout for her people. She watched her grow into a woman and eventually mother a child named Ali. She would visit the mother and her child in the forest even up till the day Ali's mother died.
Once Ali's mother passed away, Kalica stricken with grief, re-evaluated her life and spent a couple of years wandering, being a bit shocked at the brevity of human existence. Kalica was always looking out for Ali even the day the child almost perished in a fire. She rescued the teenager from certain death and did her best to rescue Ali without making it too obvious, then followed making sure the 'blind' teenager found enough food and supplies to make the journey to a town through the forest.
After all the time Kalica spent scouting for the council nothing could remove the stain of Galan's death and the refusal of the council to do anything left a foul taste in Kalica's mouth. She decided it was time to leave her kin and seek out those who decide to destroy other's lives in the Stolen Lands and bring them to justice as well as assisting and protecting Ali along the way.
Ok, Cool. I just wanted to make sure I got your go ahead before I started to post in the game thread. As soon as I have the green light from you I will start posting in game. :-)
You can definitely go ahead and start posting, Kalica. I leave it to you if you are just arriving to find Ali healing a man in the street, or if you have been spending time inside the Dragon's Rest at the bar or side tables.
Kindral! Quick question about Kalica's charisma. Would you say its based more in looks or personality. Is she a 13 (respectful, above human averages no doubt!) because her elven features are striking and decidedly 'good' or is it in her demeanor that makes her pleasant to be around?
Also, all y'all are way better than this at me and I'm enjoying the RP. Keep it up!
Roll20 map has been updated to the hilt. Take a gander. I repositioned everyone based on their last announced locations. Glen and Miyari were possibly iffy because I wasn't sure if Glen actually approached the group from where he and Miyari have been having their private talk or not, or if he was just talking to Corinne from there.
Move your tokens around a bit and then make sure you update your token going forward whenever you change your location significantly. Combat maps or locations like the Dragon's Rest which have a lot of moving parts will have a map and your location may be important...or it may not, but keeping your token up to date should be easy. Non-combat locations may not have a map, or may just have a general map to show the area.
Of course if you have any questions, please let me know!. :-)
I am taking a vacation to northern California wine country from 5/14-5/19, and my access to posting may be spotty. I will try to still get little bits in here and there, but you will probably need to assume roleplaying among yourselves will be a good plan for now.
Any questions you need answers for in advance, post here while I am around, or PM me. :-)
@OneDrunkViking I would say she is good looking and has a good nature but has a serious temper. And as we play you will find out more about her demeanor, lol. Hope that answers your questions!
@Kindral Sure does! I was just curious at how Llewyn might take you at face value!
Also
@Pinvendor You racist!

Cerwek has rather attractive humanoid features despite the color of her skin and lower tusks
What, big brutish orcs can't be beautiful too!?
Further along that first thought maybe we should describe our characters in game now that they are seeing each other in light? (unless everyone did already and I missed because I'm a rude monster.)
Has there been any thought to using Roll20 hard when we get to combat sections? Like setting up an our or two to get all on there and use it for the crunchy combat action? I suppose it may be hard since we have folks on either end of the ponds and what not, but I'd be down to make it really inconvenient for me but good for you guys.
Hmm tonight's warhammer RPG game (1st Ed of course) taught me it may not be a wise idea to burst into a vampires fest hall and challenge the vampire lord to a duel with a WS of 22 & alone (at least for a bit).
Really, your first mistake was believing you could do anything without dying....Never played 1st ed though we were all well destroyed by 2nd ed, I can only imagine it was painful.
Our warhammer combat didn't get completed, but suffice to say feeding all the dinner guests with a random potion the GM gave us - is second only in silliness to hitting the vampire with an orb belonging to the demon Bal Saggoth.
I'm back! Of course, work is super busy as I have a lot of back work, so my updates will be later today. Hopefully you are all still interested in playing. :D
Nice, again we don't fight anything in Warhammer if we don't have to. Personally, I have seen a peasant PC one shot a trollslayer PC. The combat is scary. As a general rule we try not to roll unless we absolutely have to. Yeah, I kind of bring that mentality over to Pathfinder but with Pinvendor as GM I wouldn't be surprised if an NPC is higher level or secretly something even scarier.
True, but the scenario is really a 'rescue a town from between the claws of a vampire & Tzeench". So we are being a bit fast & loose with our actions, especially with it being 12 weekly sessions.
I feel awful for promising posts and then not delivering...because I feel awful. A nice hard cold laid pinprincess and I up pretty much all weekend. Feeling a little better today, and I'm sitting down to write stuff up at the moment.
Sorry to be a broken record. Today got away from me. I know what I want to write, so tomorrow for sure. If I don't get too sleepy from the meds tonight, you may see it later.
