Crossbow Mastery and Manyshot

Rules Questions

Let's say one of my PCs has the Crossbow Mastery feat and fulfills all the requirements for the Manyshot feat. Crossbow Mastery allows him to fire his crossbow as it was a bow as reloading is now a free action for him. In this case would Manyshot work with a crossbow?

no he can't because manyshot say ''When making a full-attack action with a bow, your first attack fires two arrows.'' and crossbow mastery only let you reload as a free action your crossbow so you can't use manyshot with a crossbow

could you use it with a double barreled gun or a double sloted crossbow?

No, unfortunately the feat specifies "bow" so you can't use it with any other class of weapons.

Unfortunately "Bow" is not a superset of "Crossbow" even though you might think as much. When in doubt about "does X count as a Y" where X is a weapon and Y is a type of weapon, refer to the fighter weapon group named Y.

Scarab Sages

However, it would be a perfectly reasonable house rule to allow a crossbow user with crossbow mastery to benefit from manyshot. Crossbows are in a feat hole compared to regular bows as it is, and never gets to add str to damage like a bow user.

Thank you all. I suspected as much but wanted to be 100% sure there was no obscure FAQ allowing for Crossbow Mastery to "unlock" Manyshots for a crossbow user.
Well, no biggie, I think I can make it work anyway using 5 bolts/round instead of 6 at level 11.

Another question: can the "keen" weapon enchantment be placed on a crossbow?

Only a piercing or slashing melee weapon can be made keen. Improved Critical will work though.

I asked because the bolts cause the piercing BUT Heavy Crossbow is listed as a piercing weapon though so it can be argued the "keen" weapon enchantment can be placed on such weapon.

But a crossbow is not a melee weapon.

XD

You are right. I was overthinking this and forgot what was obvious. So... seeking it is I guess and I don't take Improved Precise Shot at 11th lvl.

Thanks!
