King of the Bog
The Lords of Frieland - Round 6

From right where he is at, Kalsgrim finally starts to shake off the effects of the magical cloud and prepares himself to finally engage their foes.

Kriger feels the sickness wash away and realizes he can function properly again. Glaring at the boggard through the blood on his face, "My turn," he says calmly, yet eerily, as his axe immediately bursts into flames while he takes a step forward and moves into a flurry of attacks.
//The Boggard is cut down by the terrible onslaught. It looks at Kriger with its bewildered great eyes and croaks feebly as it crashes in the mud.

Servayn will slog a pace to the east and then another to the northeast, but otherwise continues heaving, his stomach long since empty.

Malaswyn remains stuck and sick, but finally, he sees the yellow-green fog lift!
// Malaswyn is still nauseated for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 rounds.

The Royal Boggards - Round 6

As the Boggards watches with concern the paladin prepare for battle, he barks to the smaller one behind and suddenly the roots and grass stops clawing at Kalsgrim and Malaswyn. He immediately charges forth to stab the paladin, while its toad goes for Malaswyn.

Secret Rolls:

Kalsgrim
large mwk trident: 1d20 + 12 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 4 - 2 = 253d6 + 6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3, 6) + 6 + 4 + 4 = 26
Malaswyn
bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The toad does little to worry Malaswyn, but he watches helpless as the Boggard’s trident sinks deep in Kalsgrim’s shoulder.
//-26 hp to Kalsgrim.

Meanwhile, the toad keeps pursuing Servayn, while the smaller Boggards retreats after sending more missiles flying at Kriger.

Secret Rolls:

Servayn
bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The toad misses Servayn’s legs and the missile, strike, but they fail to hit very hard.
//-7 hp to Kriger.

From behind, the king of the Boggards lets out a terrifying croak as it spurs its mount forward: ”I am Sepoko, and I rule Hooktongue!” The rest is some kind of guttural gibberish that must appeal to certain types of dark god, for Sepoko’s size suddenly increase and he feels a lot more confident...

If the frog threatening him is dead, Servayn will book it back towards Malaswyn and Kalsgrim, making it to the formerly not-so-marshy area.

Guys, please make sure I can see your current hit points and keep them updated.

Servayn cannot retreat, due to the boggy ground, without drawing an attack from the unhindered beast, so he stands his ground and attempts to call upon his power to summon defensively.
//Unfortunately, distracted by the beast, he misses a movement and he feels the assembled energies of the spell slip from his control, dispersing in the air.

Seeing the battlefield before him, and his companions becoming more bloodied than himself, a fire from within surges forth and Kriger seems to lose all focus. The mighty fury of his people unable to fully manifest itself quite yet - that does little to deter him from moving rapidly toward the others in hopes to bring death upon the large creature. If not, at least give it a different target to aim at as he nears with his axe held high and a mighty roar to accompany it.
//The flaming axe cuts through the Boggard’s leather armor, slashing deeply across its chest.

Relieved to see his allies near him again, Kalsgrim's protective instincts kick in. He closes on the large boggard, hoping to finish it quickly. He draws forth his trusty blade, and even as he does so his bow drops to the ground, the flickering flames of it making it stand out in the muck at his feet. Even as Erastil's healing power flows through him, he lashes at with his sword.
//The sword plunges in the Boggard’s leg, and he starts to hesitate.

This is what happens when you crit once a year. LITERALLY. :P I totally did my crit damage wrong. The d6 fire damage on the crit, should not have been rolled. And a Greataxe does x3, not x2. Yeah I messed up all over the place. Here's the rest of the damage. Probably not necessary but we'll throw it out there anyway.

Damage: 1d12 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31 Subtract the 6, add 31, which now should be 90 damage if the crit confirms. Okay, I'm good. I believe that clears it up now.

Still down. Thanks for the clarifications!

Kriger looks to Kalsgrim, doing all he can to keep himself steady as the amount of blood loss has taken its toll. "Kals?" Kriger looks to the paladin, having to spit as too much blood has gathered within his mouth. Turning to the boggard, "Alright, Frog King, give us a minute. Let us discuss this among ourselves a moment. It might be in your best interest. Maybe, just maybe, no one has to die this day." He notices the several dead boggards he'd forgotten about, lying dead. "Well, no one else I guess." He gives the king a moment to think it over, making sure he doesn't object with any form of hostile action.

If there is none, Kriger moves gingerly over to Kalsgrim, motioning the others over before placing an arm around the paladin's shoulder for leverage. "Sorry if I'm a bit heavy, Chief. I kinda need you for support." When the others arrive, "Okay, fellas, I wanna kill this guy. Like bad. But I'm not sure how much more I can take. But I'm also on the side of: If we can take this guy down quick, then just give the word, Chief - I'll give you all I got left." Kriger has to stop a moment to cough and spit out some more blood. "We're living the dream aren't we, fellas? It doesn't get much better than this." He winks, grinning wryly. Looking to Kalsgrim, "So what's it gonna be, Chief? No matter which way you decide, I got your back."

I give a final dry heave and almost swoon with dizziness and stars dancing before my eyes.

Suddenly, it all lifts, in the way only magic can, and I step over to join my allies.

I speak low among the group, "I think I can finally do something about that."

Positioning myself so that I the magic does not touch the Boggard, I issue a fervent prayer to Sarenrae and call upon Her grace to heal us.

I'm thinking that is three rounds of action from me (including one last round of nausea) so if the King acts before then I may be interrupted. Hopefully he'll wait.

It depends on Servayn and Kalsgrim's actions.

I'll give Servayn a bit more to weigh in. I'm inclined to say we don't need to ignite another war, and we may have another Sootscales style project on our hands.

Servayn begins slowly slogging his way back to the others, his movements comically distorted by the effects of the haste spell, making him appear to move in fits and starts.

"Your decision, milord." he says, clearly in no mood to trust these creatures, who, but for some turn of fate, were moments away from devouring them.

"Her glory calls for the faithful to offer redemption. And to strike down those who cling to wickedness."

I look over the 'king', "What redemption can we offer him? Perhaps to leave the swamp and travel with us? To prove that he can turn from evil."

Kalsgrim turns to Sepoko. "Boggard King, will you vow to work with us to make a peaceful co-existence between our people? We can show you how to prosper without attacking those passing through these parts. We have done so with others to the benefit of both. Think carefully before you answer, because we will hold you to your answer. Will you lead your people into prosperity or ruin?"

Kriger just stares at the king through narrowed eyes, his hand clenched upon his axe, awaiting his answer.

The Boggard King steps off his monstrous mount and drops one kneel in the swamp waters in front of Kalsgrim: "I will swear allegiance to youooarr, invadoooaarrrr, if you hoarld your promise of peace and prooaarsperity. I will rooamain King of the Boggaarrrd and of Hooarktongue and send tribute yoaar way."

Thus the group secures the fleeting loyalties of the Hooktongue Boggards.

While Malaswyn's healing managed to put some life back into the ranger, Kriger sighs in relief. "Thank Deadeye," he mutters under his breath as the grip on his axe relaxes... the flame upon it going out.
