Had not noticed this, will dot.

The game will start with everyone near the Hall of Justice, the headquarters of the Justice League. The Hall is in Washington DC, as depicted in Young Justice. Of course, near will vary based on your character's movement. You will want to be able to get there in a round or two to keep from being left out of the action for too long.

Your current relationship with the League is up to you, with the caveat that you cannot be a full member. You could have nothing to do with them, be a reserve member, or something else.

The current Justice League Roster (soon to change, obviously) is:

Martian Manhunter (serves almost exclusively in a monitor capacity, rarely in the field)
Supergirl (often a field leader. She has returned from the future an adult with powers equal to Superman and years of experience.)
Knightingale (sort of a hybrid Batman/Black Canary)
Green Lantern Kai Ro (a kid from Tibet who has a power ring)
Arrow (red costume, shoots arrows)
Warhawk (Son of Hawkgirl and Green Lantern Jon Stewart)
Occasionally Booster Gold

Things have been quiet for a few years now, since the big fight between Lethal Justice (led by Magog) and the Justice League (led by Superman and Wonder Woman). Luckily, everyone involved calmed down before anything disastrous happened. Since then, there have been no quests for world domination by a reformed Injustice Gang, no alien invasions.

Television news talking heads have been saying for a while now that we shouldn't grow complacent, that catastrophes had happened before and they would happen again. And who was going to defend us? Superman disappeared to who knows where for longer and longer periods of time. Earth's Green Lantern was a ten year old Tibetan kid who had had the ring for about ten minutes, and has been in somewhere in outer space for way too long. Martian Manhunter, who sort of creeps everyone out anyway, spends most of his time cooped up in the Hall. The day to day heroing of the Justice League is handled by Supergirl, who has grown into her own and is as tough as Superman ever was. The others though, Warhawk, Arrow, Knightingale, and occasionally Booster Gold. Remember when the league was mostly Fire, Booster Gold, and the Blue Beetle (and not even the cool outer space one, the chubby rich guy one). People had been saying for years that something was coming that the League couldn't handle.

Today was that day.

You are welcome to know each other or not, and drag in any other characters/complications you want.

I'm also up for you guys creating NPC's (super or not) if you want. I don't want to get too far into explaining the setting. I prefer to roll that stuff out in context, but I'm happy to talk about whatever.

Hoping to get started in the next couple of days.

Awesome stuff! I'll edit William's bio later on to reflect your canon better, but before that I think I should get some more things squared first. Do you think as Unhuman, he would be recieving more mentoring from either Supergirl or J'ohn? I know he's being gromed to fall into the spot Superman once held, so that leads me to supect supergirl. But, his basic abilities are more in line with Manhunter.

Superman has been mostly absent for several years, and Supergirl has only been back for about 3 years. It makes sense that J'onn was and is a mentor as you have him, with probably some training and field work with Supergirl.

Supergirl would have been in the future with the Legion of Superheroes for all of the Superboy clone/Connor Kent era, so they wouldn't have a deep or longstanding relationship or anything.

While we are waiting, I'll throw some additional ideas and expectations out here.

1. Superheroes fight. This is generally forbidden in the Pathfinder games I run, except under unusual circumstances. Here, however, you can expect NPC heroes to mistake your intentions or identities and to be at cross purposes. Of course, after some punches everything usually gets worked out. It can also be true that PC's will fight each other, and that is just part of the fun. Batman vs Superman, Cap vs Iron Man. It's ok to throw some punches and plasma bolts between friends.

2.We are the Justice League. Threats will be big.

3. Superheroes lose. This is one of the things I've had trouble with most in the past. In many RPG's, there is an expectation that you are only up against threats you can beat. In this game, early in the story, you will lose. Villains will do villainous things, kick your butts, and escape. I will cheat (GM fiat). You will get Hero Points for all of this, which make you awesomer later on. This is a genre convention, so try not to let it hurt your feelings. Especially early on, I hope to explore the failure of the group to work together well.

Okay, thanks! I've updated his backstory and complications to reflect canon events. He's been training for only around a year now, so whatever comes next, he's... not ready for it but will have to deal with it anyway!

1. With one of our heros being the none so subtle daughter of Lex Luthor, and Unhuman being how he is, I'd expect such a thing to crop up now and then. I'm curious to see what and how it could come about!

2. 'Nough said.

3. The rulebooks have mentioned that, quite often in fact, so I'm willing and ready to see what you'll throw our way. Even if we have some misteps, we're heros! We'll get them where it counts later on when it's much more dramatic. I for one though am fully ready for you to laydown the failures, because I'm a terrible person and remain aware of how awful it'll make Will feel. I didn't list those complications for nothing ya know!

Ahem, I am curious though, who all do we have?

We have confirmed Unhuman, Imagine, Dr. Fate from Rando1000, and Gigabyte from Emissary of the North.

That should be good for now once we get those last two characters in. If necessary, we can probably bring in players from the old game who are interested.

I can get something else brewing if you'll have the room

For some reason I can't get her name to look right, but I'm determined to come up with different aliases (aliasi? Aliassasses? Aliassbutts? Oh, yeah, Kara is -that- level of immature ;-)) until I do.

Kara and William, ("Can I call ya Bill? Okay, great, thanks Bill") definitely know each other, and have for some time. Without fail, every time they see each other, Kara offers him a job at LexCorp, confident that his unique skillset would be extremely useful.

And she'd pay rather large sum of money to get him on the pay roll.

A -large- sum of money.

One time, as they met for lunch, she actually dumped what he would make in a year on the table.

They were at a restaurant.

Of course, no one stole any on account of the armored LexSec guards that constantly surround Kara.

Oh, did I mentioned the guards? Yeah, she totes has guards.

I'm really feeling a masked vigilante-type to round the team out. We've got an alien, a psychic (brat), a mystic, and a technomancer so far. I'm thinking a normal human with some special toys, but more Batman than uh... someone who deals with a bunch of gadgets.

Turned out a bit different than expected, but here's a rough draft on a Super-Normal, similar in style to Nightwing.
Lacking in any ranged options and missing some must-haves (Utility belt, cool car/motorcycle/jet, throwable projectiles).

Haven't decided on a name or identity, but the backstory would put him as a preteen protege to the Batman villain Hush. Having a heart that wants to do good, but being gaslighted and disillusioned by Hush, the boy struggles with his convictions. Nightwing defeats the aging Hush and takes the boy in as his ward. Dick Greyson would push for the hero's addition to the Justice League so that Greyson would always have someone on the inside.

Hi, all. Just popping in to check things out.

Question. Traditionally, Justice League members are often active in different cities and get together when there's some sort of alert from the monitor room. Is it the same sort of scenario here, or do we need to base our characters near DC to be close to the HQ?

I'm finding that hilarious, Atlas, and I fully approve of the near-stalker behavior she's displaying due to how uncomfortable it'd make William. "I-I'm fine Lara, really! I've nearly got something published- what are you doing with that suitcase? Wha-NO DON't!"

Asside, I'm really interested in seeing more about your characters! Doctor Fate is generally pretty self-explanatory, but I'm sure Rando has his own spin there too. Very good stuff.

There is no reason to be based near the Hall or DC. It probably isn't giving too much away to say that the Hall isn't even the real base.

You can assume that your character has his or her own comic, if you want, and does all sorts of things on their own time. Or you can end up more of a full time League person who lives and works in their facilities.

Az Ramsey gets a weekly email from LexCorp's President of Acquisitions telling him how much his life would mean, and how much he could accomplish, with the bleeding-edge technology at LexCorp!

Several of these emails also happen to mention, and have pictures of, various young, single, nubile women that were recently hired, with degrees in his field, that he'd probably be working with closely.

Very closely. Possibly.

Any attempts to unsubscribe do not seem to be successful. UCLA apologizes for the inconvenience, and explains that it's part of their Grad&Hire program. And since LexCorp is such a great philanthropist force, and large donor to the University, maybe he should think about it...?

Az is...still trying to figure out this e-mail thing; it seems almost like a different form of magic to him. He's both befuddled and amused to find that people he doesn't even know are contacting him with these "ads" and "offers." A year ago he was walking with one of his moms and both dads to the commissary store to get some brown rice.

The last several months on the outside have really made Az realize how sheltered the Commune had been.

Hey guys! Kara told me we moved in here, as I am easily distract-... oh, look a butterfly!

Ehem. I am easily distracted and missed it. I have the fluffy details pretyped on my laptop, but my crappy internet is undergoing serious crappiness and so I am posting from my home at the moment.

I expect it to be solved tomorrow. Failing that, I'll hotspot using my hacking skills and use my mobile data to finally tell the tale of how awesome Gigabyte is.

Also, would it be possible to open gameplay for dotting. It would make keeping track of the discussion easier.

I'll second that notion, and can't wait to hear more about the guy! Glad you enjoyed the format I use. ;)

Has relatives visiting this weekend, resulting on mixed feelings. On one hand I want to die, so I don't have to live through a Christmash season full of relatives. On the other hand I would miss beer.

Good news is internet has been restored. I will post the fluffy bits tomorrow, when my death urges have disappeared.

Gigabyte, if it affects your plans at all:

My plan was to use Cyborg, now called VICTOR, as a sort of Jarvis-like computer system for the Justice League systems. Having completely shed his body, he is now all machine, in fact just a machine consciousness. We can tweak that if needed.

Once we get Gigabyte's fluff in, I will fire up the first scenario in Gameplay, so hopefully later today. Excited to get things going!

You don't say where you were a software developer.

Can it be LexCorp?? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE?'

'Desperate but driven, and not a little drunk, Kyle made the huge effort of attaching his stock resume and submitting it through the main LexCorp website. He quickly forgot about it. Everyone knows you hit Luthor once and he never forgets.

The acceptance letter came as a surprise. Sure he'd be working for a subsidiary, but the potential for pay was...enormous.'

Grand Lodge

Male A.K.A. Kyle Knight

You are right, but I had it all thought: his own company, Knightware Inc.

His first and most popular product as of now is KnightmareOS, a highly modular yet robust operating system which allows for customization and comes with four different running modes: developer, home, media and gaming. It's gaming mode has been reviewed as 'should simply not work' as it's capable of running three parallel instances of Crysis 2 on max performance with no framerate lose.

Since that he's been diversifying, with some handmade -actually machinemade- limited edition computers with quantum processors and lately two games: Knights of Dystopia -an open world RPG where you play on an apocalyptic world as the last living superhero- and Nightmares of Gotham, a survical horror game using the new VR glasses he developed-.

That said, I can see LexCorp trying to buy his company and/or hire him just to spite him, but he would be reticent as it's common knowledge the Luthor's never forgive or forget.
On the phone. 'Who this? Kara? Kara who? Ah, Luthor. Look, I already told you: I work by myself. No, I don't want to be part of LexCorp family. No, I don't want to be part of that other corp of yours. C'mon, give me a rest!'
Man, I even used points to buy me a nice home and office, and a sports car for the days off.

Dr. Fate, can we give you a complication like: Nabu is a jerk. Or something like that. More formally, perhaps call it "of two minds" Nabu is an ancient intellect from a different culture. He is not above lying to his host or denying him access to particular knowledge if it suits his purposes.

Whatcha think?

Inactive

Gm, I've so been thinking about another complication, one fo4 his bedridden father. Essentialy the relationship complcation, I could imagine the man having plenty of enemies who'd want to attack while he was Vulnerable, and his condition could change at any time. What do you think?

Oh, and I'll get my post out later when I get on my computer, hopefully not too long.

Sure, that sounds good.

Something along those lines. Let me bat it around in my mind a little.

On the time I've been on the forums, I've always found that first post on a campaign to be the most difficult as it settles the tone of a character.

I hope you like Gigabyte's comic ;)

I loved it. You can expect Melissa to show up again at an inconvenient time.

Inactive

Okay, I've given my introductory post! I hope I did alright with it, really is pretty hard to set the right tone. So much pressure. None of my complications are being enforced right now, unless you want to activate his self doubt as such. Speaking of that though, I've included my complication at the bottom here.

Complication:

Fleeting family ties
His mother is gone, his grandfather is absent, and his adoptive cousin rarely has anything to say outside of training. His family is slipping away from him, including his own father. Almost constantly bedridden in a private room at a Metropolitan hospital, his young looks are at odds with the rest of his body. Inside, he was an old man, someone that might've been in his eighties instead of the middle aged man he was. Already weak, his condition can and has changed at a moments notice. Even more, old enemies might learn of the once hero's vulnerable state.

I wonder why the GM never asks me about a complication?

Oh, that's right.

Complication: Is a Luthor. ^_^

That seems to have Prejudice, Reputation, Rivalry, and about a half-a-dozen others thrown in just for good measure. =)

Anyway, sorry guys, but Weds are bad for me, and I've been tearing apart Kara's build looking for a better 'feel'. She's both too powerful and not powerful enough in some areas. I'm still looking for time enough to get the numbers to 'click' in my head.
(P.S. I'm not looking for suggestions, but if you want to make a suggestion, that's fine, just don't put too much thought in to it. When I get this way I can never tell how receptive I'm gonna be. =)

I'm not going to get a decent post up tonight, guys. Will post in the morning.

Deciding upon first round actions, so couple questions:
·How much do the walkers weight? How about the drones?
·If I were to try and datalink with any of them, would it be possible to hack them?

And that's all. Failing those plans I will probably fall to punching and blasting like a bad m~#&%%@!!##*.

Walkers weigh 50 tons, drones weight 1 ton.

Datalink is more like Telepathy for machines than mind control. It lets you communicate at a distance with intelligent machines or use computer skill at a distance.

It is common and reasonable to take an alternate power of datalink that is Mind Control: Limited to machines if you want to be able to take over intelligent machines, hack Red Tornado, that sort of thing.

Alternate power which I indeed took, good sir, because what kind of technowizard would I be without wireless machine control?

Regarding weights, Walkers fall a bit out of reach... but I think I can do a cool trick of two with drones and Magnetic Control (also known as Telekinesis with metals)

Machine control feat is a little different. It lets you Move Object with machines. So you could control a crane or car. Controlling a construct requires an actual Mind Control power.

Should we wait for those in order to go first, or post with the assumption that you will sort things out after?

I think for the moment it doesn't matter if we go out of order.

Holiday update:

I'll be around until about 2:00 Eastern on Saturday, and then pretty spotty until Monday. Things are usually pretty dead on the weekends anyway, but I thought I'd give notice.

Inactive

You know, I've always wondered about that. Why is it that the weekends are so dead? You'd think most people would be off work or school, but allas, it's the weekdays when people seem to post most.

Inactive

Is it possible to try and trick the drones into firing on the big robot, before hitting it myself?

I don't know of any way in the rules to do that. It would be a good way to flavor extra effort to get the extra action or as an alternate power to change your damage to lasers.
