Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Mel gets a few degrees deeper into the jade range. The left hand that reaches out toward Alaric is noticeably shaking before she pulls it back.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Alaric pays the innkeeper, accepts the key and reaches for Mel's hand. His grip is soft, firm, his palm hot. He leads the way to the room, closing and locking the door, then placing the key on a nearby piece of furniture.

Looking over at the shy Melinda, he smiles. "I'm nervous too."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She nods, her lower lip being nibbled on. With a voice that is far from steady, Trust me?

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

He nods.

Shalelu:
Lio follows Shalelu into the water, appreciating the discretion, and not realizing how much relief she feels at not being judged for what she looks like. The spell keeps the worst of the cold away, and the water is kind of nice. Lio too dives in, though she can't stay underwater nearly as long as Shalelu. taking a 10 on swim, + 6 for skill

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She doesn't look entirely relieved at his answer. But her voice is ever so slightly more steady when she speaks. Sit, please? she vaguely motions to the bed, or the floor... It's really not clear. And close eyes?

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Alaric has begun to look a little worried, but he sits down on the bed and closes his eyes.

Liothonae:
The water is clear, and with the spell protecting you, the chill does not bother you at all. There are fish out, darting through the reef, and also turtles.

Shalelu is a natural blonde.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
He is able to hear what sounds like clothes rustling. A few seconds later he hears a whisper, which the warm breath would indicate is real as opposed to magic. Can you move back about a foot, please?

Assuming that he obliges, he feels something move onto the bed in front of him and settle. Mel's voice, nervous yet with an odd note of calm. You gave me a gift, and I had nothing to give you. So I thought, but I couldn't think of anything but this. He feels her take his right hand and carefully place it on her abdomen, which is noticeably not cloth covered. Then his left hand on her collarbone. So that when she speaks again, he can feel the vibration of the sound as it leaves her. Her voice very shaky, I don't know if I can do this, or at least I don't know if I can do this well. I don't... Not when I know people are listening, and with you so close, I don't know if I can make you go away from my mind. So I'm sorry if this is wretched.

She sits up very straight, air expanding lungs, and she plays for him.

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

It's not the same as playing himself, but it's as close as she can make it without merging. Her song is probably not as good as it could be, because when she finishes long moments later, she apologizes.

If he cheats:
Across the room, at the door, she pulls off her shirt. Her upper body isn't bare, she has a long wrap over her chest, but the body that is revealed is very well made. The clothing she wears is not flattering to it at all.

Shalelu:
Lio comes up for air, sees a sea turtle not too far away, and attempts to make friends. Knowledge Nature to see if the turtle is someone to make friends with 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12. Wild Empathy to actually make friends: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 She keeps an eye on Shalelu, so they don't get separated too far, in case of currents or unseen dangers, and so she can introduce, if the wild empathy is successful the turtle to Shalelu. She will ask, via Speak with Animals, for the turtle to come over to her and Shalelu and say hello, and maybe let Shalelu touch the turtle.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Keeping his eyes shut, Alaric breaks into a dreamy smile at the first notes. He listens raptly, and when the music finishes, he wraps his arms around Mel's body, drawing her into his lap. His eyes still closed, he whispers into the crook of her neck: "That was lovely. Thank you."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She nods. Her heartbeat, which had noticeably slowed and remained calm while she played, jumps. Her body, while held very straight while she played was relaxed, but arms around her very bare waist cause tension. Her voice, sounding very young and vulnerable, Okay gift?

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

"Better than okay. Perfect, in fact." Between soft kisses on her neck: "Do I get to open my eyes now?"

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She swallows. And shudders as his lips touch her neck. I guess, but... She starts to pull away, towards the edge of the bed.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Reluctantly, he lets her move away, leaning back on the bed. "But what?"

Liothonae:
Using your empathy with wild creatures, you are able to coax one of the turtles into a not-unfriendly attitude -- at least, it seems willing to be introduced, say hello, and be gently touched by Shalelu.

Being a turtle, his conversation is primarily concerned with turtle-related matters, such as the available quantity and quality of insects and crustaceans, and whether you happen to have seen any sexy female turtles around.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
The movement as her weight leaves the bed is noticeably, and a few seconds later clothes rustling. Sounding a little less vulnerable and little, Okay, have shirt... And if he opens his eyes, he sees that, yes, she has her shirt on, and is placing the flute that she played back in a pouch.

Shalelu:
Lio relates the conversation to Shalelu, He is very interested in crustaceans and bugs, and he wonders if we're seen any sexy female turtles around." She grins at the elven woman, a rare mischievous expression dancing in her eyes. "He does not object to being petted..."

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Alaric can't help but look a little disappointed at the sight of a clothed Melinda. "How about you come back over here for a little while? See what I can do to convince you that you're a tad overdressed?"

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She walks over to the bed, movement graceful and almost silent. When she gets to the edge, she asks a question, So what question did you have that should be answered here? And she waits, close enough to touch.

Liothonae:
Shalelu appears happy to be introduced to the turtle, and pets him when he does not object. In fact, she seems to get on better with the turtle than she does with most humanoids, save for a few.

A few things are still happening on the evening of Day 6, but some of you have started to move on to the morning of Day 7. So, while stuff may continue, I will open up ...

JOURNEY DAY 7 – BAD WEATHER, SLOW GOING

After a pleasant evening and morning spent in Roderic’s Cove, the Caravan once again lurches forward towards the north. The route being taken is little used these days, as most Caravans heading north take the coastal route through Riddleport now, rather than the inland one. Both routes, however, see more traffic than you might expect, even though the tracks eventually lead to the dangerous Nolands and the frozen Lands of the Linnorn Kings. These northern routes, however, also eventually lead to the ancient, far-flung trading route that stretches across the Crown of the World to the far East, and brave, daring, and foolish merchants risk the long and difficult mountain journey in search of the fabulous profits that it can bring.

But the road is still less well-cared for, rutted and bumpy. And this is made worse when, a few after leaving Roderic’s Cove, your luck with the weather finally ends. A furious rainstorm lashes the Caravan, and your pace slows down to a crawl. While you continue forward, travel is difficult as the road quickly turns to mud, and more than once a fallen tree must be removed from your path. The notion of a quick 10-day journey to Brinewall begins to seem like it was extremely optimistic.

Lio responds in the long dead language, trying to explain her position. "When I was... a slave, terms of respect were insults. I would rather not feel insulted, which is why I am so insistent. However I understand your position and I believe I have a solution. I will need to take a day off from my duties, and I would ask you to do the same."

Hrithik bows deeply to Liothonae, though when he rises, his face bears a big grin. "I just spent today away from my duties, while we were stopped, making the evening's beverage while Kalimac and Attatoq split my scouting duty. I don't want Master Vhiski to think I believe myself too good to actually work for his caravan, so I don't wish to request another day off immediately."

Hrithik continues, "I would be much obliged if you were the one to make the request for our time off. Perhaps a day or three out of Roderic's Cove, after I've had the chance to buy some stores for Chef Rhost to make up for both of us refraining from gathering food for the same day."

Hrithik would barely have enough money left over in town to buy a unit of stores. If he were to do that, would there be room for it as cargo once the repair supplies are replaced?

"Thank you for your time and consideration," Hrithik says. He hoists and uncaps the flask he had been touching. "All of the Asmodean Fire has been passed out, but I have some less potent libations available if you should wish for refreshment of the evening."

A modest Perception check should indicate: unfermented wine, which is to say, grape juice :-)

"Enter, if you would dare to seek knowledge of the mysteries of your Future!" Koya intones dramatically from within the wagon.

Hrithik enters the wagon, ever a seeker of knowledge. He greets his Fortune Teller in an old-fashioned, traditional manner, incorporating Desnan iconography. "Bună dimineaţa, Seer Fel. Acest Călător pierdut solicită steaghidul de înţelegere a învrednicit să vă."

Varisian:
"Good morning, Kind Seer. This lost traveler seeks the guidestar of insight vouchsafed to you."

Day 6:

Since Melinda is the first interesting person/thing, Melinda is who Rhost will attempt to follow.

Day 7

"Good weather for warm soup," Rhost says to whoever is driving the wagon today. "Except fire hates rain."

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

He places his hands on her hips. "Whether or not you're green all over. My money's on yes, but as a man of reason, I felt it was something I needed to determine with my own eyes."

Day 6, After reaching Roderic's Cove

Myri quickly and efficiently picks up her shopping list and returns to the Caravan.

GM:

Can I also add "wood stain" to that list?

am subtracting 4 more gp, assuming I will find such item, let me know if not, char.sheet updated to reflect changes
...and another copper of catnip for later. ;)

After returning, Myri briefly wanders around camp to get an idea of who has not decided to spend a majority of their time in town. ... ...
She is actually specifically looking for Ameiko. Though she would also ck on Koya....and pretty much anyone else that is their.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Oh. As she goes decidedly mint.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Alaric stands, kissing Mel softly on the mouth. Whispered: "Well, if you don't mind, I'm going to set about finding out."

i assume we're wrapping things up? if not, i'm happy to continue, either way... :) Lio has fun exploring the reef and following interesting fish and spending time with the turtle. She even forgets to be withdrawn and shy, finding joy in the simple interaction between the critters, herself, and Shalelu. When she starts to get tired, having neither Shalelu's strength nor stamina, she mentions (in Elven) "Don't mind me, but I need to rest for a little while. Soft Druid living seems to be taking its toll on me." This way Shalelu can continue to swim if she wants, while Lio sits on the shore, catching her breath.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Her hands go to his shoulders, as if she needs the support, then slowly inch around his neck. No, don't mind. But can you do something because otherwise I'm gonna start thinking, and if I start thinking I'll start talking. And...

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Needing no further encouragement, Alaric sets about answering his question.
Fade to black?

Melinda and Alaric:
No fade to black yet. I swear by all that is holy that what is about to happen is Not My Fault, because I don't do this kind of thing to players purposefully. Nonetheless, I apologize, because it happens.

Suddenly, there is a horrible thumping crash as something heavy thuds into the door to your room from the outside.

Rhost and Kalimac:
Kalimac, Rhost has decided to go on a People-Watching expedition where he follows a PC around surreptitiously to see if they are doing anything interesting. Since you were with him in town, you can come along if you like, or not. Please let Rhost and I know. Until you let us know either way, I will mark posts you might or might not also be in on as “Rhost (K)”.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Alaric lurches to his feet, doing his best not to spill Mel all over the ground. He looks around for his morningstar. The caravan. Turning to Mel: "Are you armed?"

Kalimac is game for this. And since he's shopping, and hence not armored up, his Stealth doesn't suck. (1d20+4)

Edit: Kalimac's Stealth is +7

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Wow, you made the world... Attack? She blinks. Pulls the karambit from her hair and hands it to him, looking at the door. Always, even now.

karambit = sickle, simple weapon, 1d6, 20/x2 if it comes up

Rhost and Kalimac:
I apologize for the minor puppeting of Rhost in this post, but given current events it is the only way I could account for Rhost’s truly abysmal stealth roll.

Rhost has chosen to follow Melinda, who is walking somewhere purposefully, looking both excited and nervous.

You follow Melinda to an Inn called the Duteous Pseudodragon, and watch unobserved from a corner as she waits with a certain nervous intensity. After a time, Alaric enters and greets her. The two talk briefly, then Alaric pays the Innkeeper some money, receives a key, and the two of them slip upstairs to where the rooms are.

Perhaps you might have left at that point, coming to the obvious conclusion (or perhaps you would not have left, coming to the obvious conclusion), but suddenly, you are surprised by the faint sound of beautiful, haunting, unearthly music drifting down the stairs. It is utterly transfixing, and like no music you have heard before – except once, when Melinda was practicing a similar piece in the Caravan. Clearly it is her playing, but the improvement is a thousandfold.

Rhost, at least, makes his way up the stairs to listen more closely. Kalimac can decide whether or not he does as well. Rhost listens until the music stops. Then he pauses, waiting for it, perhaps, to resume.

At which point, leaning towards the door, he trips and falls against it with a thunderous crash.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Alaric accepts the weapon and stands protectively in front of Mel.

"Oh, it's you," Koya responds cordially from inside the wagon, in Taldane. "Sorry, thought you were another customer. Come on in."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Umm... why are you blocking the door? She asks sounding confused. I'm not unarmed, never am.

Liothonae:
While you do not think that Shalelu is particularly tired, she gets out of the water close to the same time you do, and silently suns herself on the the sand near you as you rest, her eyes closed.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:

Sheepishly: "Right. One of the many reasons I like you so much." Alaric readjusts to meet the threat side by side.

Myriana:
You find both Koya and Ameiko in the same place. Ameiko is playing music for what seems to be a small party that has spontaneously sprung up among a number of the members, mostly Varisian but not entirely, of the two or three Caravans currently passing through the town. Koya currently appears to be happily gossiping with what may be other fortune tellers, and the younger folk are dancing and drinking.

It is easy to get Ameiko's attention on one of her breaks from playing. She takes the frequently, as she is far from the only performer and they all periodically yield the stage to each other.

The driver of the wagon you are currently on, determined randomly, is Vankar, the Varisian man you can never recall hearing speak. He nods solemnly at your words, as if you have shared with him the wisdom of the ages.

Hrithik had nothing further. He retracts and caps his flask, then nods into a respectful bow.

Assuming Liothonae isn't completely ignorant of Cheliax with her life of some years in southern Varisia, there is something consistent about Hrithik's aspect in these meetings that can probably be discerned after having gone through this a couple of times, and having the immediate example of the liquor serving to compare. (Sense Motive, DC 10 I imagine. Eventually DC 5)

If the roll is made:
While Hrithik bows a good bit in general, and nods the rest of the time, the frequency and depth of his bowing to Liothonae is more the bowing of an inferior to a superior than it is the engagement of an equal. In particular, even while "serving" as a performer and waitstaff with the alcohol earlier, his nods and behaviors were more assertive and less deferential.

Furthermore ... Hrithik started addressing Lio as aristocracy, suggested high Thassilon ranks as an alternative, and is now not naming her at all rather than lack an honorific. All emphatically not the behavior of someone addressing a peer. "Master Vhiski" and "Chef Rhost" are much more utilitarian by comparison.

Kalimac is as much a fan of beautiful, haunting, unearthly music as anyone, and so would also try to get closer for a better listen. Being aware of the half-elf's obvious ungainliness, Kalimac will be trying for a perch somewhat away from Rhost (in case Rhost trips and falls on Kalimac).

And after Rhost does trip and fall against the door, Kalimac will be attempting to hide and not be caught with him.

Roderic's Cove, Day6, nearby Caravan?

She looks around to see if the two drivers are here too.
Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
and if there is anything she might be able to help out with.

Myri's recent troubles seem to lift at least for the time being, she happily joins Ameiko (& Koya and everyone else for that matter...but especially Ameiko at this particular moment) in the festivities. "But..." her objection quickly dies even to herself before it really has a chance.
