We shall go well-prepared, and if things turn sour, be ready to strike against Gutwad, all as one. If he falls, the tribe might just stand down."
That was more of my feeling. I'd feel a little uneasy double-dealing, even with a goblin. And as has been pointed out, we are much more equipped for battle than for subterfuge. No, I think our best bet is to confront this Gutwad as one, with our numbers acting as a show of force to help the diplomacy. Then, if diplomacy fails, we strike."

Earlier in the plan discussion. Which means I am replying to Kalimac before we got to the swamp warden's home.
Mel turns her green eyes to the halfling, I understand your desire to deal with the goblins fairly and I respect it. But I disagree with your interpretation. I, at least, mean to honestly deal with Chief Gutwad, and if he agrees to no longer attack travelers on the Lost Coast Road or Sandpoint, I'll be happy to let them be. Even if I doubt that an agreement will last beyond the next time the ravenous creatures get hungry.
Her voice turns quiet, and determined, However, I find it unlikely that the tribe will be so easily swayed. So if an agreement cannot be made, I think there will be much less death, both of our own and amongst the goblins, if our first act is to remove the fireworks from the table, rather than having to slaughter them to get to their fireworks.

"This is as good a time as any to mention it, I suppose, but I don't swim." He returns to the wound, cleaning and putting fresh bandages about it. Muttering: "And neither do I heal, apparently." He looks up at the halfling. "This will heal on its own. Keep it clean, change the bandages and you will be fine. One thing... how many snakes were there? This wound has a story behind it."

She smiles at the two men, so different, but apparently cut from the same cloth. I won't claim to be diplomatic, but I do speak their language. A shrewd look, But, if the goblin chieftain does speak Taldan, perhaps it would be best to negotiate in that. So the others will speak freely thinking that we can't understand. Not to mention, intent is often lost in translation.

An expression of amusement crosses Hrunndalf's face, and he says, "I would, in fact, be grateful for the opportunity. As you can imagine, it can be frustrating to no end not to be understood when it would be most important. My fate meets with scorn or distrust more often than with interest. So the current plan is Alaric and I meander into the nest of villainy and negotiate a peace treaty with Chief Gutwad.
She smiles over at the metal contained cleric, And while we are distracting the chief and the rest of the tribe with our winning personalities and fleshy, fleshy bodies, the rest of you sneak in and take out the ammunition?
Or did I read that wrong?

"I'm not much for swimming while wearing this armor, but I can dog-paddle if need be," Kalimac adds with a sly grin. "As for rope, I brought fifty feet of it. You can never have too much rope, my father always said."
Lio wonders if it would be faster go back along the trail, and then head down the Old trail, or if it would be faster to cut through the marsh and try to have the party swim and wade through the water.
Knowledge Geography: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Alaric Graff |

Alaric stops his binding of the wound to search the halfling's face for a long moment.
Then: "All things are one, natural and supernatural. As I see trees, I see the stumps they will become. As I see men, I see the children they once were. And as I see serpents, I will see the lair from which they slither."

Kyrademon |

"Uh ..." the Halfling says to Alaric, moving off the settie and onto his feet. "I'm, I'm really not sure what that was about, but, uh, maybe it's time for you guys to go."

The halfling says, ”You know, you’re probably right."
Then he suddenly changes into a small wrinkled, hunch-backed humanoid creature with mottled brown-and-red flesh and a spherical head with no true face – only a crooked slit from which a rasplike tongue periodically lashes and licks.
And it attempts to bite Alaric’s face off.
We are now in combat. Here is a map of where I judge people to be. Kalimac (K) is outside, checking supplies on Attatoq (W). Myriana (Y) is outside looking for trails into the swamp. Liothonae (L) has moved to the door to talk with Myriana. Alaric (A) is next to the creature (V), who is in a corner. Melinda (M) and Hrunndalf (H) are nearby in the room. The room is 20’ by 20’, with a settie along the west wall and a stairway beginning in the southeast corner:

As the creature changes, if you beat its Bluff check with Sense Motive or its Disguise check with Perception, you may act in the surprise round. Alaric, I am giving you a +10 because of what you are already doing. Myriana and Kalimac, I am giving you two -10’s because you are outside.
Creature’s Disguise 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (5) + 24 = 29
Creature’s Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Perception vs. Disguise:

Sense Motive vs. Bluff:

Melinda 1d20 ⇒ 16
Liothonae 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Myriana 1d20 - 10 ⇒ (8) - 10 = -2
Alaric 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
Kalimac 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (11) - 6 = 5

Kyrademon |

Everyone is surprised. The creature attempts to bite the flat-footed Alaric.
Creature's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
If that is successful it will do the following damage:
Damage 1d4 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 1 + (4, 1) = 10
And attempt to grab him with a check against his flat-footed CMD:
Grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Which if successful will cause 1 point of Constitution Damage (there is no effect until at least 2 points of Constitution Damage are taken)
After which he would immediately let Alaric go as a free action.

Hrunndalf Jarlsson |

I'm glad I didn't waste a healing spell on him after all, thinks Hrunndalf. His greatspear is leaning against the outside of the hut, though; it didn't seem polite to bring it inside.
If Hrunndalf acts before the creature, he will cast Shield of Faith on himself, draw his warhammer, and shift next to the creature to corner it. If the creature flees, he will do the same, drawing his warhammer at he moves to intercept. If the creature is attacking Hrunndalf instead, he has no time for casting, and just strikes back directly. Hrunndalf is bad at defensive casting and will not attempt it.
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Attack or possible AoO, with warhammer, two-handed grip:
To hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 (crit confirmation 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17)
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Being in battle, his curse kicks in, and he shouts in a booming voice to alert the others: "Klaojoleish dashkalg! Kâp un geyng!"
To cast Shield of Faith, Hrunndalf pounds a fist against his left shoulder guard, his breast, and his right shoulder guard, chanting to himself, "Thaukhthir shkôr, tlekopok nô!"
Possible spellcasting: "Faithful steel, protect me!"

Melinda Sorn |

After recovering from the shock of the halfling turning into a ugly little thing, Mel's first instinct is to pull the hopefully not-dead Alaric from the reach of the evil thing. As she does so, We've got to work on your signals, if you thought something might have been wrong... No, I should have known.
Mel grabs Alaric as a standard action and moves him 10' so that Mel is between the creature and Alaric and so that Alaric is next to Lio.

”What?”
If I can see the creature and have line of sight before someone enters an intervening hex, then I will shoot it.

Damange:1d8 ⇒ 8
If there is a wall, then I will move to cover the door. Until I notice Hrunndalf’s greatspear at which point I move to get it to him.
Perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Kyrademon |

If you leave things as they are, I will assume that your planned action is to cast the spell. If you wish to attack instead and use those rolls, let me know. Thanks!

Hrunndalf Jarlsson |

In any case, if there is even a remote chance I might be threatened while casting, I will not declare a casting, but simply an attack, trying to lock that bastard down in his corner.
I assume I don't get to reroll my crappy attack. ;oP

5 foot free away from the door, going forward so I'm here:@M@L ““W
Then Shoot with my short bow into Melee to hit the creature:
To hit: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13 -1 due to: +2 to hit & + 1 from being within 30 feet, -4 shooting into melee. If it's a natural 20, the critical is x3.
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 it's +1 due to being within 30 feet.

Kyrademon |

The creature, whatever it is, pauses for a moment and somehow glares at Melinda with its eyeless, leathery face.
”Right,” it says. ”Because popping out looking like this would have been a totally good idea.”
Having said that, it takes a step to the right and attempts to take a healthy chomp out of the side of Hrunndalf’s neck, but the doughty Northerner shifts aside in time and the creature’s teeth scrape with a screech against his armor’s metal scales.
But the need to avoid the creature spoils the two-handed swing of Hrunndalf’s warhammer, and the weapon whistles over the small creature’s head. In a booming voice, Hrunndalf shouts, "Klaojoleish dashkalg! Kâp un geyng!"
Outside, Myriana sees Hrunndalf’s that greatspear has been left lying next to the door. She rushes over and picks it up.
Melinda, after recovering from the shock of the halfling turning into a ugly little thing, acts on her first instinct, which is to pull the hopefully not-dead Alaric from the reach of the evil thing. As she does so, she says to the unmoving cleric, We've got to work on your signals, if you thought something might have been wrong... No, I should have known. Melinda drags the cleric up to the far wall, and then interposes herself between his body and the creature.
Attatoq gives a gruff ”Hruff” in response to Kalimac’s words, and takes a watchful guarding stance where he stands. Kalimac grabs his sword from its sheath on Attatoq and moves to the door of the hut.
Finally, Lithonae takes a step away from the door, and shoots an arrow at the creature from her shortbow. But the confusion of melee combat spoils her shot, and the arrow thuds into the wall behind the thing.
And so the second round of combat ends, with a lot of sound and fury and absolutely no damage of any kind being dealt by anybody to anything.
