Jericho Korben |

Knowing that it's necessary to take down the twisted caretaker, Jericho takes one last shot, using a large amount of mental energy, as he rushes to the door, his armor slowly morphing back into his ring as he moves.
Discipline Attack with Kilic:4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 1) - 8 + 4 = 2
Athletics in case of Barrier Value:4d3 - 8 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 3) - 8 = -1

DSXMachina |

After they claw at him Jericho he moves to the heavy oak door, the Holy man slams it shut and tries to put his back against it to keep it barred. A heavy thud pushes the door forward, the holy man puts his weight and divine strength to keep t closed.
Cyril defence 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3) - 8 + 4 = 6
Zombie 1 Claw attack4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 1) - 8 + 2 = 2
Zombie 2 Claw Attack4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 3) - 8 + 2 = 3
Firstly 2 physical defences. Then, I was thinking we could have an opposed, 'cat & mouse' race, using Might or any other appropriate skill to manage to shut & lock the door against the zombies (& caretaker?).

Jericho Korben |

Athletics Defence 14d3 - 8 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 1) - 8 + 1 = 2
Athletics Defence 24d3 - 8 + 1 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 1) - 8 + 1 = -2
Armor still in effect for that pass so I take a 5 shift hit negated to 2 with armor. Taking Mild Physical Consequence: Nasty Gash.
As he turned to run Jericho felt the claws of the first zombie skitter from his failing armor, and then a hot razor line of pain down his right side as a claw bit through to his side. After rushing through the door and having it slam behind him Jericho props himself against the wall. "Just a little more. I need to stop them" Korben says, one hand covered in blood as his side bleeds profusely.
I was thinking to put up a barrier value personally. We'll see how well that goes.
"Father! I'm going to be using a lot of power here. I don't think I can help after this, so keep this door closed for me." Korben considered for a moment and then tossed the Father his cell phone, half-praying it hadn't been fried by all the magic he'd just thrown around. "Call Ax. He's in the contacts. We need some backup." With that he motioned the Father back from the door and concentrated, bringing his hands together and forming a complex pattern that essentially made a box. "Yakin!" came the voice of the youth, pouring power into his spell.
Throwing up a barrier value of 5 on the door, which gives an automatic 1 mental stress, plus any amount under 6 I roll here.
Discipline:4d3 - 8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 1) - 8 + 5 = 2
Oh Gods that's ugly. Taking a Moderate Mental Consequence: Dazed and Confused to mitigate that 4 Mental stress.
Jericho felt the powers he wielded tear at his mind painfully as the surrounding candelabras, including the huge chandelier above, pulled into the door, the molten metal flowing onto it and welding the door to the walls around it. He staggered, his dark hair suddenly dank with sweat and his eyes unfocused and confused. "Stars and Stones..." He said, then laughed gleefully. "That's... a very effective..." Jericho seemed to lose track of what he was saying and sat down forcefully. "Wall... thing..." He trailed off, almost unconscious with the mental trauma of wielding that much power.
Now the zombies have to roll against the Father's rolls +6 to get through the door. Should keep them occupied for awhile.

Cyril, who dat? ifn I gots ta defend da boss; I gotta know who is on our side and who is on ders and what kind o support to expect and what kind o opposition; tell me simple little git; I just hit things so go slow, others can play dumb minion ifn they want; but ifn a sacrifice is likely to make for the hills; I gotta know which is them and which is us.
Axe really wants to know so he can plan a rescue/pound some bad guys

DSXMachina |

The little imp turns his eyes flashing gold; "Nobody would dare stand against the Boss. Cyril is the caretaker that boss has 'modified' ta make sure that he can protect the box and the Nexus."
The Imps' fingers pont in an inverted V-sign; "Oi, ya wanker no-one calls me a 'simple little git'. You got balls though, I like you."
Jericho's vision blurs for a second; a few minutes must have passed because the vicar is upon the phone again.
A plummy English gentlemans' voice says across the phone; "Excuse me, would I have the pleasure of speaking to a Mr Ax? I have a Mr Jace Kinsington, here he says that he could use some back-up. Oh, where are my manners my name is Millier, Father Millier. We are at St. Deny's church on Walmgate, there are some god-forsaken things trying to rip through the door.... oh s@$!" The scratching and pounding in the background resumes.
Axe's mobile phone rings insistantly Picking it out of his coat and answering it - A plummy English gentlemans' voice says across the phone; "Excuse me, would I have the pleasure of speaking to a Mr Ax? I have a Mr Jace Kinsington, here he says that he could use some back-up. Oh, where are my manners my name is Millier, Father Millier. We are at St. Deny's church on Walmgate, there are some god-forsaken things trying to rip through the door.... oh s$*$" There is a scratching and pounding in the background.

Jericho Korben |

"Think you can..." Jericho started, panting. "Can keep them from breaching us Father?" Korben said, hoping the answer was yes. "You must have contacted Aximaeus, and if I know him he will be on his way presently." The youth was pale, and his eyes seemed a bit crossed and unfocused. "I'm afraid most of my power is quite gone." Jericho was worried about himself more than he let on. He knew that tossing around the kind of power he'd just unleashed was far beyond his abilities. Without his Foci, he'd have likely killed himself. Even so, a slip in discipline could have left him a vegetable. He was uncertain how long his recovery would last, but that would have to wait until later.
Jericho checked his wound, finding it only bleeding lightly, then continued to apply pressure. "Did I sleep or black out?"

DSXMachina |

He smiles at the young man his face looking drawn every bit of his years, but it radiates a mature wisdom and knowledge. "Just briefly, my s...., sir. Whatever you did should hold them, hopefully." His back pressed against the door as there is a regular thud of the implacable zombies pounding away in their blood-lust. Without a time limitation the zombies will break through, but hopefully reinforcements will arrive.
The gangly vicar reaches into his pocket and throws a clean pad and bandage to Jericho; it bounces off a pew and lands beside him.
Jericho, no he is not your father (Just in case, the 'my son' thing was misinterpretted.

Danny Kaye |

wow, ok, that works for me! :) Nice job Jericho!
Danny/Henri manages to restrain himself from jumping for joy, or squealing with glee, at his find. But even Danny's Veil cannot entirely hide his pleasure as he replaces a few things for the police to find later. He folds up the rest and tucks it into his jacket.
"Now now, it's bad form to tease the hired help." He says over his shoulder coldly as he closes the desk back up. It takes a moment to realize he didn't specify whether he was talking to the imp, or Axe. He turns back to the imp.
"You have done well. Now listen carefully. The next time you see me, I will greet you with the following phrase,..." Danny/Henri leans down and whispers something to the homunculus.
Danny/Henri straightens back up. "If I do not greet you with that phrase, then the one you face is not me. You are not to try to defeat him. You will leave immediately, and find that man." Danny /Henri points to Axe.
"He shall direct you to another, called Danny. HE will greet you with that phrase. You will cooperate with him fully, and do as he asks. IF the police or other authorities enter the premises, you will not interfere, and you shall go and inform Danny. Now. My time grows short. You are dismissed."
Have more, but didn't want to get TOO far ahead! :) A few questions;
-Do the papers (at first glance) all look legitimate? Or was he selling things besides paintings?
-I'm looking for contacts, and sales records, etc to leave for the police so that when they come investigating they will find suspicious activity.
-ALso thinking about taking his money from the safe (especially if it's 'ill-gotten gains') so it looks like he ran with the money. (the fact that Danny could USE money is strictly coincidental, really!) :)
-Also hoping that the Homunculus is all talk, and not capable of ripping my spleen out if he finds out I just flim-flammed him! ;P

Jericho Korben |

I'm a mushroom-cloud layin' motherf-er, motherf-er
Jericho slowly ties his wound, feeling tired and losing concentration but managing. "Little pig, little pig" Jericho says distractedly of the scrabbling at the door. "Big bad worlf is nasty. But I think I can manage something nastier if I have help."
Really hoping I get a shot at Henri... after a couple rounds I could tear him to shreds. IF he doesn't do so to me first.

DSXMachina |

- They look mostly legitimate, there are a couple of 'dodgy' documents from Egypt from his contacts of 2 decades. These ma not have the proper customs and VAT (tax) approval. There are a few Object D'Art, but mostly it is paintings/photographs. You do notice he has a 'promising' group of 6ish artists from the University; he is grooming these and exploiting their talents.
- Yes, lots of sales records. One thing you do notice is the receipt of hand-cuffs that Jericho had taken from the ghost that killed Tybalt! These were made by the at the same adresss that Esmeralda gave you!!
- Yes, with the codes and the passwords/passwards; you are confident that you can easily get the money out. (& make it look like Henri has absconded ;P)
- Mwahahaha *evil GM laugh*
Good, it seems Henri is a b*d

can go back, so going forward. Axe open the door and sprints to the front door, which is probably locked; pick up a desk and chuck it through the door or window and sprint fast as can to the getaway vehicle; look to see if anyone follows.

Danny Kaye |

Thanks DSXM :)
OK, BEFORE Axe takes off running,...
Danny/Henri waves his hand curtly, dismissing the imp in gesture as well as words. There is a brief moment of hesitation, and Danny counts at least three, painfully slow, heartbeats, before the little creature bounces up and down in acquiescence. The tiny imp almost trips over it's own short tail trying to get back to it's perch on the desk and obey his 'master's' wishes.
"Sure t'ing boss! Sure t'ing! You know me, I'm on deh job! Yew need anythin', jes call!" The creature bobs up and down several more times, then poofs away.
Danny/Henri stands very still for a painfully slow 10 count. Then gives a brief exhale of relief.
"Well. That went well." He says with a casually he doesn't quite feel as he finishes flipping through the papers from the desk. He returns a couple more pages to the drawer, closes it. and tucks the rest away.
"Alright. We now know where we need to go to get the box. And we know who, or perhaps what, is waiting there for us. All we need to do is go and retrieve your property. After I make a little withdrawal." He says with a wicked grin. Once more made even more sinister being on Henri's face.
Danny goes to the safe and kneels down. He spends a few moments studying the directions, and another moment or two carefully practicing a couple of the more difficult phrases. Then he makes the right gestures, says the right words, counts the correct number of seconds, says even more phrases that he doesn't have a clue what they mean, and reaches for the combination. When he doesn't get zapped, he grins, and swiftly spins the dial.
"Whoa. I'm gonna need bigger pockets." He says after looking in the safe. "What?" He asks the others, who are looking at him with mixed emotions.
"Look, I'm not (normally) a thief. But Henri's not gonna need this after tonight. MOST of it is from his exploiting a group of artists, and some is from sales of decidedly shady acquisitions from other countries. I can give back to the artists, and if by some dark miracle Henri does survive tonight, he's gonna have the cops looking for him. An empty safe not only makes it more difficult on him, but mnake sit look to the cops as he is running."
"And, besides. I could use a tip for all of the running around I've done for others the last 24 hours." He admits grudgingly.
As Danny empties the safe, A cell phone goes off, making them all jump in the otherwise still room. It is Axe's phone. The warrior answers it, and he looks decidedly stern. Even more so than usual.
Damn, looks like you gots things in hand here Boss, I gots ta split; the crapper is backup back home and the house if flooded...so to speak; rain, pee or pour; all the same water you know; is an emergency and might be real work for a "plumber", so come with if yer able.
"What? Wait!" Danny cries, jumping up and running after Axe. He grabs the big man as he's picking up a large ornate chair in the entryway.
"Stop! We'll go together!" Danny cries. (somewhat disconcerting as the voice is still Henri's.) "Take one second and tell us what's going on!"
Axe gives them the short, short version.
"Well,... D@mn, alright, so much for 'all the time in the world', let's go. But the BACK door! And don't touch it unless you remember the phrase!" Danny runs back to the study, stuffs the rest of the money or as much as he can grab. Does anybody else take any? into his jacket and pockets, and kicks the safe door shut.
He Runs to catch up to the others at the back door. He pants for a moment, then gasps out the phrase used by the imp. He yanks it open and bows the others out.
"After you!" He says in his best upper-crust accent. And Henri's voice.
Danny/Henri takes one extra moment to straighten himself, and close the door behind him. HE hurries to the car and piles in as Axe takes off, tires spinning out on the wet streets before catching and hurling Danny back into his seat.
Sorry Axe, just trying to prevent you from attracting attention to us by busting the window! :)
Synopsis;
Let's see, we've gathered much more info that we had. (and a few more questions, but nothing story-line changing I don't think) Danny has papers listing artists that Henri was taking advantage of, AND a sales receipt for the handcuffs from the ghost that killed Tybalt! The address is the same as Esmerelda gave us. He left almost all the other receipts, including ones showing possibly dodgy artifacts not properly imported (taxes). We've cleaned out his piggy-bank, and left him at least 2 groups to 'meet' with who are not happy with him right now. And even if he survives he's got no cash and the police are going to get an anonymous tip off. Danny also told the imp to inform them if Henri survives. (ANd possibly laid the ground work for turning him away from his boss?) :) Sorry that I hogged the scene, but I think it went rather well! :) (Better than I had hoped, actually!) :D
Um, the next scene is officially all you guys! Danny isn't going to be much help in a fight with spirits! ;P
EDIT- But he CAN provide musical accompaniment! :)

interjected at front door
I am thinking, smash the front door; set off all alarm and get the authorities here; hell if I had a pig handly I would smear blood all over with a trail leading to wherever he is planning his "activities" just to put a crimp in his style. The fact that the glass is blown out of the place will make them suspicious that whomever willingly entered had a key; but why wouldnt they use it to leave. Details man, front door means they were running for their lives; back door means skullduggery, wrap that cash in your jacket, tie the arms closed; and relock that safe. Go Go Go, I'll get the car started, St Deny's is under attack!
Axe smashed the window unless Danny has a better idea of sound logic and sprints to the car a couple blocks away and gets it started and waits for Danny. While he waits he gets the map out of the glove compartments and checks the route he will take best speed.

Aximeus |

If there is desk to throw that would be better; am thinking the cops would be interested in some very heavy object thrown some distance and the force of glass splatter that would accompany it of something definately trying to get out. And as a tactician; I have a backup plan to muddy the works if this all goes to pieces with the authorities if they do find a way to track it to us.

Aximeus |

in the car driving combat style best I can making best speed unless someone else wants to drive and has a good skill at it
whose driving? [after the car is going] Danno, what do you figure the demon thingy meant when he said he altered that secretary to be a guard dog. I was kicking around a plan in my head to ask her for a date, maybe turn her to our side or at least cause confusion, but these magical alterations; they can be overbearing and invasive as to inhibit free will. This Henri has got a date with the Infernal Furies and I am gonna send him to them EXPRESS! Jeez, if I wish I had a way to tell the Little Big of Three that someone is trying to steal a soul; heard he gets all kinda bent about that, so says my Aunt. But no way am I gonna risk gettin exposed to HIM! Better to take old P. Floyd's advice and not "get sentenced to be exposed before yer peers"
look; when we git their; hit em hard; hit em fast. There are two kinds of warriors; the quick and the dead. Be Quick and Dano, keep up best you can. If the opposing force is to great; we shift to getting the those oppressed out and safe. Any comments? Dan, can you carry my pack?
if he is not driving, then Axe would be holding his sword and sheild and apparently unconsciously tapping is sword on his sheild in a rythym and chanting in Ancient Greek a martial cadance

I'll let you finish discussing how you are to leave. Through the door or through a broken window.
Near the altar the vicar is knelt hands clasped tightly together, a heavy muttering prayer halts as the door opens. The man rises suddenly to his feet and turns.A tall gangly man with a dog collar, entered the church just before sun-down and light filters through the thick stained glass window. His bald dome protruding through a wild tangle of thick graying hair, he bears a resemblance to Henri and the old pictures.
To one side is a young man(Jericho), sat at a pew and looking slightly dazed and bloody.
I believe your stress boxes have been refreshed.

Danny Kaye |

,... Explained his intentions,...
Axe smashed the window unless Danny has a better idea of sound logic and sprints to the car a couple blocks away and gets it started and waits for Danny. While he waits he gets the map out of the glove compartments and checks the route he will take best speed.
TOO tired to RP ALL of this, so here's the short version. ;P Danny explains to Axe that they WANT it to look like 'skullduggery'. Not to worry, Danny has left plenty of suspicious stuff to be investigated, and will make sure the police get a 'tip' from a concerned citizen. <wink wink> The goal (In Danny's mind) was to make sure that the police investigated. Because there is bound to be something he's done or involved in that we don't even know about yet! AND, Danny's not certain that the imp is really as tough as he talks, but doesn't want to find out. If we smash the front door he will come back, and we'll have ANOTHER fight on our hands.
Danny also points out that smashing the glass will attract IMMEDIATE attention, and they might be spotted. He will take them all safely out the back, and will cast a Veil to hide them as they run the couple of blocks to the car. So, no sighting to investigate.
IF Danny does not convince Axe to avoid breaking anything, he still takes them out the back door and puts up a veil to hide them as they leave.
In the car,...
Danny looks a little dazed as Axe speaks quickly. But he nods in understanding.
"Yeah, I'll carry your bag. But don't expect me to caddy for you!" He smirks, a little of his usual attitude coming back as they squeal around another corner,...
"He didn't say the secretary was the guard dog, he said 'Cyril'. Some other poor schmuck that Henri's gotten tangled up in his nightmare/fantasy I guess. But it sounds like he's probably gonna be tough. In the GOOD news, your still clear to ask the secretary for a date!" Danny grins slyly.
Meanwhile, in the church,...
When Axe pushes open the door, Danny looks around the church nervously, and gives a slight start when the father stands up. He points at the priest and says "I think that's the guy from the picture. You must be Henri's brother?"

DSXMachina |

The tall middle-aged man looks at Danny, a worried look crosses his face. "Mr Axe?" he says hesitantly.
"You know my brother?" He lip curls slightly in an unfamiliar manner showing some new-found contempt.
"Your friend Jace is over here." He motions towards Jericho who is sat in a pew, looking slightly dazed with a fresh bandage to his hand.

Jericho Korben |

"Morning Ax." Jericho says when he hears Ax's voice. "And friends." He looks up, looking around at the others with dazed eyes. "This is Father Millier... He's a good guy. Having an issue with his faith but he'll get over it." He points vaugely at the Father, then at the door. "Bad guy's stuff is in there. Along with a thrall, two zombies and roughly a dozen ghosts. Bound to the ivory box... ghosts can't hurt you. I hurt the thrall... Cyril?" He obviously has to concentrate to get this out. "Don't open the box. Kill the thrall and zombies. Abominations. Against the Laws. I can deal with ghosts."

Danny Kaye |

Danny holds up his hands in a gesture of peace at the priest's manner.
"Easy Father. We know him, but we're not exactly friends. And no,... The BIG guy is Axe, er, Aximeus. These two frowning ones with Scooby are,... come to claim their property. And I'm Danny." He finishes with a smile.
"Um, what happened? You said something about an attack?"
Danny's eyes grow wide as Jericho sketches out what's waiting for them behind door #1.
"Greaaaaaaat,... Ghosts? Seriously? Well why not? If we can have necromancers and vampires, why not ghosts? Yeah. No problem. I'll just let Axe and the guys handle the Keeper and his pets. I'll just be standing over here. Holding the bag." He mutters, lifting AXe's carrysack. He then remembers what Axe said was in the bag, and doesn't hold it nearly so tightly,...

Aximeus |

look I am glad to help; but lets get to it; I gotta human sacrifice and put a stop to with a necromancer trying to raise his dead wife already on my docket and no telling how many he will kill. Kill thrall and zombies; got it; ok what's the plan, aught to be pleanty of holy water in here.

Jericho Korben |

"Not sure if holy water will help, no offense Father." Jericho frowns as he tries to remember. Lore:4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 2) - 8 + 4 = 6. Then reaches into his bag and tosses a small sack at Ax. When Ax catches it it's far heavier than it has any right to be. "That's Curium Ununtrininium mixed with common metal filings. Don't ask where I got it." When the party looks confused at him he sighs. "It's hyper-real. Pulls the ghosts from their plane toward ours. It'll hurt them if you throw it."

Danny Kaye |

"Ghosts. Very dangerous. YOU go first." Danny says to Aximeus in his best Harrison Ford.
Danny furrows his eyebrows at Jericho.
"Curie,...Unun,...?" He mumbles.
"Waitaminute. 'Trinium'? Doesn't that usually mean radioactive?" He asks, taking a not-so-subtle step away from Axe and the magic bag of dust.
"'Hyper-real'? I love magi-babble."
"OK. So, hit them hard, fast and continuously. Any specific method to the mayhem? Keep them bottled up in the doorway? Force our way down to them?" Danny asks seriously.
"Heh. I have an idea. When you first open the door, stand to the side. I'll create an image to step in and 'attack', and they'll attack it first. Then you guys step in for real and hit 'em. How's that sound?" He asks, rubbing his hands together eagerly.

Jericho Korben |

"It's... a little radioactive." Korben says lightly with a sidelong look. "It needs to be heavy metals ok? I know a wizard who mixes it with Uranium dust, be glad I don't use that." I would if I could get my hands on some, but he doesn't need to know that. "Just don't hold onto it too long. And if you want the proper term the heavier elements pull electrons from the field that holds together the ghosts. Their power is dragged away by it and then the electrons bleed... mostly harmlessly away as the elements pass through their half-lives." Seeing the blank looks thrown his way at this Jericho looks annoyed. "And that's why I didn't say so in the first place, don't you have zombies to deal with?"

DSXMachina |

The Church of England vicar Father looks abashed and slightly angry at Aximeus words; "Bee wouldn't have wanted this, she was a good and beautiful woman. Henri is the mad one."
As the group carry on talking he slightly shrinks back, especially at the announcement of the elemental material. The stark lights play off his concerned forehead as he looks to the large dark-hound.

Duana |

Duana, carefully hidden behind the gregarious mortals and their simple pet simply smirks. Oh what luxury in men to lose their minds for so little cause, she muses and pets Gelert's crown.
"Might someone explain to me why the skinny child with the juvinile charms is plotting our military tactics?" she asks, eyes flashing at Danny. "It occurs to me that he has not seen much less experienced failure in mutual combat. We should draw these things into a false sense of security, and ensure that they cannot escape from us."

DSXMachina |

Millicar, the priest speaks up, his voice reverberating across the empty church, so early in the morning. "Really, young lady, you are even more slight than him and I will not have you denigrate the man in Our Lords building. He has helped me see the truth at this time of trials." speaking calmly and compassionately.
"In the crypts, my brother crafted a dark ritual (for my part in which I have to atone). He has raised some ghosts to guard protect it and..." his voice breaks slightly.

Danny Kaye |

Poor Jericho, I think Duana was insulting Danny, not you. ;) AH it's good to have you back Duana! :D
Danny, his personal ego still riding a high from the fast one he pulled on the familiar, 'AN Imp! Was that REALLY an imp?' Let's Duana's comment slide from him like water off a duck.
"No, no, When she's right, she's right. My personal tactical experience is limited to Real Time PC games and Dungeons & Dragons. [smaller] And that little dust up in Canada, but that was more of a skirmish, really. [/smaller]" He adds sotto voice with a wink to Axe.
Danny steps aside, making a grand sweeping gesture to the door, which disturbing sounds can still be heard from.
"After you my lady!" He says brightly.
Taking another look at the wounded Jericho, he prudently takes another step away from the door,...

Aximeus |

Axe moves to the door ignoring Duanna who he thinks is insulting him
Danny; you wanna handle this dust stuff; I will have my hands full with sword and sheild and probaby to busy to throw something.
tosses Danny the ghost dust
ok; on three someone open the door; then we warriors pour through and cut a way down; you other help as you can; count it for us Dano
Axe takes a martial crouched stance; sheild up; sword ready and gameface on; his ancient armor and arms like a page from the Golden Age of Greece and Rome. His sword tapping a rythymn on the shield as he cants in Latin. His intensity nearly wafing from him in palpatable waves.
Latin
Into the Mothers dark embrace, to purify her womb
for these corrupted mothers; we send them to their tomb
the foe is strong his poison breath putrid in our faces
our purpose strong our hearts are pure to put them in thier places

Danny Kaye |

Danny catches the heavy bag of ghost-dust out of reflex. Then gives a 'NNGyaaah!" as he realizes what he's holding. He gives Axe a glare, but it bounces off of the warriors shining shield.
"Alright, sure, countdown." He mutters with resigned grace as he steps back to make room for Aximeus, Gabriel and Duana to move forward. He looks again at the door with it's metal covering.
"Um,... Jericho? Are you going to have to do something about that first? Or can we open it from this side?"

DSXMachina |

Jericho dismisses the metallic barrier to the crypt/cellar. The heavy iron studded oak door, opens as Gabriel lifts the latch, his sword in the other hand. As soon as the door is opened; a miasma floods out of the room. Not physical, however the whole of the church is awash with the stench of black magicks. A light iron tang also floats on the air along side a taste of decay; generally this is over-powered with the unfamiliar feeling on the darkest of magics.
No light is needed as the stone (closed-riser) steps are illuminated with a sickly green phosphorescence of ectoplasm. Down the stairs and the solid banisters leading into an open area are glowing sigils, pulsing with a regular heart-beat. On the far side of the room is an old blackened furnace, however the room is dominated by a magic circle. The intricately carved patterns seem to be slowly writhing and changing; atop them is an iron tripod. Ornate and ancient it is part of the design of the circle and upon observing it seems to bend and flex with the pulsing irregular beat as it starts to reach a cresendo. Atop the tripod is an ivory box.
This all would be disturbing enough but around the box circle floating spectres, their forms inter-mingling giving you only a brief picture of their numbers and shape. Upon ones' ankles are steel shackles; thus you can identify him as Lawrence Brown; (the ghost that killed Tybalt). As the doors reverberates under Gabriels's boot a figure looks from its' position on-top the furnace. A human in his left arm has been virtually ripped away. It is surrounded by two thick set and grotesque Zombies, blood over their mouth, they snarl as the door opens their fury and hunger unrestrained. Rapidly they move to the stairs.
The ghosts stop their swirling dance in time to the rhythmic heart-beat. The fleshless sockets of Mr Brown turn towards you.
Jericho has tagged this place with a Aspect: Magical Nexus & the zombies with Uncontrolled Blood-lust.

Alright I am doing group initiative for them and you lot feel free to act in any order provided you are before them.

Danny Kaye |

Danny looks down the stairway. He gulps audibly.
"Shoulda' let me use the illusion." He says in an aside to no one. Or everyone.
The charge of the zombie brigade snaps Danny out of his reverie. He shouts a chord, (yes, a chord) of notes and swiftly sings;
"All in all we're just another,
trap in the wall!
All in all we're just another,
Trap in the wall!"
And the zombies see the door suddenly slam shut of it's own accord, and multiple shafts shoot out of the sides of the stairway, forming a cage behind them and trapping them between the bars and the door.
The others with Danny see a shimmering over the doorway and a vague outline of shapes behind the zombies, but as the target of the illusion is not them or centered on them, instantly see what Danny has done. He 's trapped the zombies in an illusionary cage, allowing them free access to the zombies,...
Performance; 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 3) - 8 + 4 = 5
Tapping the zombies with ANOTHER aspect 'Brain-Dead' (or I also like 'Dum as Dirt'), giving the illusion another +2 for a total of 7 :)
"All yours!" Danny says with a smile, stepping back to give the others full & clear entry to the stairway. He continues to hum 'Brick in the wall' as teh battle begins in earnest,...

Did you add my +4 alertness bonus for my greater than human speed to my init? It has been so long since we fought anything that I dont remember how to do this by game mechanics
Initiative!

Ok, thanks; my plan was to push down the stairs and fight anything in the way; is Danny's illusion working on the zombies, am thinking we need to wipe all the bad guys down here but the cage gives us some oppurtunities for picking heirachy of who to fight. Can we move by the zombies; can they attack us from within the cage? Am trying to decide whether to engage them or try to get to the circle to break it.
How far is the circle for the doorway where we are in movement?
Yep, in your profile - Aximeus has a Level 1 skill & 4 for Inhuman speed. As does most of the party. Just the stupid dice roller. Anyway if Duana & Gabriel don't post in 9hours then I will delay them - take the evil undeads' turn and everyone can act. :)

Alright, Duana & Gabriel delay.....
The ghosts stop their whirling as the group open the door and Danny's glamorous illusion takes place. Laurence the leads ghost howls and surges forward, the others stay in place and echo his howl. The intensity multiplies; the pressure starts to build inside everyones head and it reals that they are going to burst.
Ghost Howl (Attacking EVERYONE) 4d3 - 8 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 1) - 8 + 1 = -2
Conviction/Dicipline Defense, or take mental stress. EDIT: Don't bother that was PATHETIC!
The ghost of Laurence surges forward his clawed hands reaching out for Gabriel, who feels the chill of the grave pass over him.
Laurence the Ghost Attack (Fists) 4d3 - 8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 2) - 8 + 3 = 2
Weapon/athletics defense Gabriel
The zombies strain against their bars trying to get out from their illusionary prison.
Might to escape 4d3 - 8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 3) - 8 + 1 + 3 = 6
Cyril the caretaker, who has remained in this cellar his mind destroyed and his body altered with strange mancies. He jumps down from the furnace and sprints across the room in an unnatural motion. Leaping onto the stairs through the banister with a horrid grace. An arm hanging limp, first from Jerichos' accurate magical power and then from the frenzied chewing of zombies. His mouth forms with hatred and need to escape and kill; he swings his short handled shovel at Aximeus' head. The Grecian soldier reacts instantly to the motion of the new foe.
Cyril (Weapon) 4d3 - 8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 3) - 8 + 5 = 7
Aximeus defense weapon/athletics/fists

Aximeus defense weapon/athletics/fists
Does this mean I average these skills? or just use my highest and not sure how to apply my armor
I wp 5; but on my init I will activate my swords power to make it wp 6
I have supernatural toughness 2
fist 2 and athletics 3; so how do I roll this please?

DSXMachina |

Highest, basically you can choose which one you wish to use. Thus weapon with 6. SO you make a weapons roll 4d3 - 8 + 6; if you cannot get better than 7 the attack hits. The difference even if 0 is added to the weapon strength and you take off the toughness (2) and this is the physical stress box you mark off. Then you make your attack...

Duana |

Oooh, combat...
When the Laurence ghost takes a swipe at her mother's knight, Duana snarls and darts forward with almost serpentine grace, striking at the creature with a flash of steel as she has no idea what its weaknesses are, or if she wishes to touch its... flesh?
Duana Athletics (essentially to flank) 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 1) - 8 + 4 = 5
Duana Weapons 4d3 - 8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 3) - 8 + 4 = 3
"What happens if this thing touches me?" she calls to the others.

DSXMachina |

The steel hits the ectoplasmic body of the ghost usually with most weapons it would be as air, but the Fae forged steel - by the dwarves in the mountain - it rips into the creature. The sword feels like it is cutting custard or jelly but there is obvious damage as the creature howls. The steel cuff upon it's throat glows, a magical construct.
Ghost Physical Defence (special stunt=Conviction) 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 3) - 8 + 2 = 6
Really! Duana, you can have another attack that was delayed from earlier if you wish.
The ghosts form holds together, despite the cleaving of the steel.
Aximeus, Danny, Jericho, Gabriel & Duana(if you wish) are UP.
