Ghost touch weapons are out of the question at this level but we should look into getting magic weapons for those that use them. Ghost salts are really only viable for archers.
Fortunately I think Zed, Hazel, and Vermundr have abilities to get by in the meantime.

Yeah, thanks to feats I can basically make my starknife magical vs. incorporeal foes or DR, make it do B/P/S as needed, and make it chaotic or good for overcoming DR.
But for now, we'll say that Hazel will take the Oil of Magic Weapon, the silver arrows, and +1 mithril dagger. She can't use the swords or the tower shield.
So here's the list of stuff to sell, if possible:
Bronze War Medallion (60gp)
Painting of Stavian I (150gp)
Silver Hair Clips (80gp)
Silver Ingot x3 (450gp total)
Gold-Handled Magnifying Glass (150gp)
MW Shortsword
Ouija Board
Sunrod x6
MW Punching Dagger
MW Shurikens x12
MW Silver War Razor
MW Tower Shield
Shield Cloak
MW Dwarven Warhammer
Keen Longsword +1
Wand of Ghost Sound (22 charges)
We also have 832 gp in coins as well. Stuff is sold for what, half of the book price?
Hazel Stokes |
Just so we don't wind up too much in metagame territory, let's go ahead and deduct what we wanted to buy (holy water, etc.) from what cash we already have and then I'll catch up with the rest of the cash from selling stuff tomorrow.
I'm guessing we wanted at least some holy water; 1 vial each? More?

Silver Ingot x3 (450gp total)

MW Shortsword (155)
MW Punching Dagger (151)
MW Shurikens x12 (37)
MW Silver War Razor (154)
MW Tower Shield (90)
Shield Cloak (500)
MW Dwarven Warhammer (156)
Keen Longsword +1 (57,875)
Wand of Ghost Sound w/ 22 charges (82g, 5s)
If I did the figuring right, the above is what we should get in theory for selling each item. Sadly, I'm pretty sure we can't sell the Keen Longsword here as the city is too small (unless I totally got the price on it wrong) but even without that we'd still end up with a fair chunk of change :)
Moving the longsword from the equation for now, selling the rest of the above will net us a total of: 2215 gp.
Add that to the 832gp we already have in coins brings it to a grand total of: 3047 gp.
If we split that 6 ways everyone gets: 507 gp, 8 sp, 3 cp.
If we split that 7 ways (basically starting a 'group fund') we end up with: 435gp, 2 sp, 8 cp.
If we want to keep the entire sum as a group fund, that works too; I believe each of us also has an individual 1500gp reward we received for carrying out Professor Lorrimor's wishes. To keep things simple and because it makes sense, I'd be happy to just give what would've been Raj's share to Vermundr.
(Feel free to doublecheck my math on this if anything seems out of whack.)

Keen is the equivalent of a +1 bonus, so the +1 keen longsword is effectively priced as a +2 weapon - value of:
Longsword - 15
Masterwork - 300
+2 equivalent - 8,000
For a total value of 8,315, with a sale price of half that (4,175.5), unless it's made of a special material or bejeweled or something.

*blink*
Okay, that makes more sense. I'm not sure what I did when I did this on HeroLab this morning but I *thought* that was really, really expensive for our level!
*recalculating*
Total after selling everything: 6390.5 gp
Adding the coin we already had: 832 gp
= Final total of 7222.5 gp
Divide final total by 6: 1203 gp, 7 sp, 5 cp
Divide final total by 7: 1031 gp, 7 sp, 8 cp

I'm really surprised nobody wanted that longsword. That's a solid weapon.

Picture Kaz holding up both hands, covered in band-aids, lower lip trembling...
Hazel Stokes |
Okay, we'll go with dividing the total by 7 so everyone will get 1031 gp, 7 sp, 8 cp for their own personal use (adjust your sheets accordingly) and there will be the same amount for a general 'group fund'.
Subtracting the cost for 2 Holy Waters for each person (adjust your sheets accordingly) which is 300gp, leaves us with 731 gp, 7 sp, 8 cp in the group fund.

I remember way back in the dim and misty, my d&d3.5 sorcerer used higher level slots to cast lower level spells. Is that a thing? Am I remembering a house rule?
To the point, Kaz will probably need to burn lvl 2 slots on additional magic missiles. Is that kosher?
Constantin Ionescu |
Spell Slots
The various character class tables show how many spells of each level a character can cast per day. These openings for daily spells are called spell slots. A spellcaster always has the option to fill a higher-level spell slot with a lower-level spell. A spellcaster who lacks a high enough ability score to cast spells that would otherwise be his due still gets the slots but must fill them with spells of lower levels.
This is, however, noticeably present only in the descriptions of wizards and divine casters. The section on sorcerers and bards preparing spells doesn't include this text. And, the sorcerer class says:
Unlike a wizard or a cleric a sorcerer need not prepare her spells in advance. She can cast any spell she knows at any time, assuming she has not yet used up her spells per day for that spell level.
(Emphasis mine.)
So... ?

I understand the argument Constantin and actually I think the rules are a little grey on this.
I'm happy to allow it on the basis that as long as we are consistent in this game one way or another, I think it's ok.
I don't know how it would play in a PFS game and I may rule differently in that circumstance. But I'm happy to go in your favour unless.... you want the grittiness that less flexibility affords.
.............
TLDR: I'm happy to allow it unless you want me to rule otherwise :)

On a different note guys, I am getting keys to my new place tomorrow so aside from the excitement of that, there's quite a lot of work to do as well.
Because of the time difference between myself and most of you I don't think you'll see much of a drop in activity my side, but if you do then that's the reason why :)
Regardless, I'm absolutely committed to this game.
Vermundr |
Congrats on the property purchase GM JZ. Buying a house is always a big milestone.
GM-JZ |
Oh, I wasn't making an "argument" necessarily, I was just trying to dig up the actual text. The verdict as far as I could tell was "unclear." :)
Yep, no worries I understand. I was just using it in the context that someone could make an argument for either reading.
Also, thanks Vermundr. It's my second purchase but the first for myself and my gf together so a big step!
GM-JZ |
Hey guys, I started a new job today that involves quite a long commute every day that I'm really not used to. So my posting may drop a little as I work out my new routine.
I'm hoping it won't significantly impact on my games but just thought I'd give you the heads up.
Yep - new house and new job. Not much else I could do that was as stressful as these two things combined :/
Hazel Stokes |
You know, I never did think to ask what that thing is supposed to be. Is it some sort of Cthulhu-type monster?
Also still here, just not sure if Verm/Kaleb had anything else to say or if I should write a 'meet back up with everyone' post now.
Oh and I'm sorry for being a bit sluggish/short with my posting lately; I've had to work more than usual this past week. Truth be told I'm beginning to wonder if I need to dial back the number of games that I'm in (don't worry though, not this one)!
GM-JZ |
Yeah that's my depiction of a cthulu-monster that would be just my luck to arrive in my life instead of a baby!
Anyway... I think it's smoother to just meet back up with the team at this stage Hazel and decide whether you want to visit Bland or just head out to visit the witness of the final crime.
I know this section is a little disparate but I don't want to just rush through the RP sections to the next crime/fight scene so I hope both elements are as enjoyable.
GM-JZ |
What's happening guys, we've ground to a bit of a halt lately. Everything ok?
If there is anything about the game that you aren't enjoying or that you feel I could do better/differently please let me know either here or in a PM, I won't be offended and will look to adapt to keep things fun but moving at pace :)
I am always open to feedback.
Kazamir Rhuul |
No problems in game at all - just ill this weekend. Called off work today, which will actually give me the time to post my questions for Bland.
No, this game is a blast. Keep it up!
Vermundr |
I'm just waiting for things to move along.
I thought someone said they had questions for Bland?
Zed Ulmin |
I apologize for the silence, I had 4 days off the grid that surprised me. I'll catch up tonight.
So no worries GM. I just got dragged off to the middle of nowhere until now.
As I have said before, and will continue to say, this is one of the greatest games I've ever gotten the privilage to play in. Keep up the good work!
