I'm still keeping the loot list updated by the way and added everything to it that we found in the manticore nest sans the dwarf's patchwork cloak and his brandy. Maybe at some point we'll have the chance to sell some things but given the timer we're on regarding the trial it probably won't happen for at least a few more in-game days.
Hazel Stokes
Do you think it's worth someone keeping track of the evidence you find? Up to you guys.
Did you take the face you found with you as well or leave it there?
And finally - back to town?
(1) I think it could definitely help. Hazel wouldn't normally do it IC but I can do it OOC if need be since it seems like several of us have been busy with RL lately.
(2) It's pretty gruesome but I'd be in favor of taking it with us because you never know. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
(3) It's looking that way. I think we explored everywhere on the island that we could and buried the dwarf (offscreen). There doesn't seem to be much else to do in Morast itself unless we want to try talking to some more of the locals - which probably wouldn't yield much of anything different than what we've already learned from Lazne.

Sorry for the delays and absences in my posting. I have now completely moved into my new apartment and just went through orientation for my internship. It seems I will have a pretty normal 40 hour work week, a 9-5 job (eastern time) for Monday-Friday. So my posting will mostly be in the evenings and weekends, although I usually play with my local group on Sunday. Thanks for bearing with me through this time of change.

Vermundr
Sweet.
HP: +10 HP (6 + 3 + 1)
Feat: Arcane Strike
+2 rage rounds
+1 1st level spell(s): chill touch
+1 rank in intimidate, perception, survival, handle animal, and profession (trapper)
Meta-rage (useless currently because Vermundr has no metamagic feats but eventually he can burn rage rounds for free applications of metamagic)
Meta-Rage (Su): At 5th level, a metamagic rager can sacrifice additional rounds of bloodrage to apply a metamagic feat he knows to a bloodrager spell. This costs a number of rounds of bloodrage equal to twice what the spell’s adjusted level would normally be with the metamagic feat applied (minimum 2 rounds). The metamagic rager does not have to be bloodraging to use this ability. The metamagic effect is applied without increasing the level of the spell slot expended, though the casting time is increased as normal. The metamagic rager can apply only one metamagic feat he knows in this manner with each casting. Additionally, when the metamagic rager takes a bloodline feat, he can choose to take a metamagic feat instead. This ability replaces improved uncanny dodge.
Zelda evolves! She now uses the statistics of an imp instead of a greensting scorpion. Also, she now has a constant shield other effect with Vermundr which means they can share damage.
Shield Master (Su): At 5th level, whenever a protector or its master takes hit point damage, as long as the protector and its master are touching, its master can choose to split the damage evenly between them as if using shield other. This ability replaces deliver touch spells and speak with animals of its kind.
Zed Ulmin
Wow that is a crazy strong ability the protector gets.
Vermundr
Crafting would be good but that requires time and coin. I don't know that either are going to be in abundance in this campaign. GM JZ would know more.
I'm always fond of toughness, especially on a d6 class like psychic. Expanded phrenic pool might be a good idea. You seem to run out often enough.
Zed Ulmin
Crafting is ridiculously powerful and useful if we have the time.
Nobody regrets taking toughness.
Constantin Ionescu
I already have expanded phrenic pool, and according to some discussion on the boards it's a feat you can only take once.
My thinking is along these lines:
* Craft Magic Arms and Armor: We are getting to the level where we should all have, at least, magic weapons. Unfortunately we won't have time for this until after the trial.
* Toughness: More hit points is always good.
* Great Fortitude: My Fort save is pretty terrible, but unlike Reflex (which is also terrible), failed Fort saves tend to mean taking a condition or just dying, while failed Ref saves usually just mean more damage. So I'm leaning toward bolstering this.
* Ectoplasmic Spell: At some future point it would be good to be able to launch various effects that will hit incorporeal undead, but for now I can skip it because I have force (magic missile) and I can do a limited amount of mind-affecting spells vs. undead with my phrenic pool.
* Medium Armor Proficiency? Why not? If I can get a mithral breastplate that would help my AC quite a bit without affecting my speed. But it's low priority.
So if someone has a better idea, lemme know!
Valavastra Cross
From my experience in other Carrion Crown games, there's not a lot of opportunity to craft. That being said, crafting on the road is still an option - so you might find the feat still worthwhile if you bone up on those less-than-well-known rules.
Do Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus work with the psychic classes, Constantin? Bumping the DCs of your clutch abilities seems like they could be really solid picks.
Hazel Stokes
Yeah, Crafting is always a powerful choice but who knows how much time we'll have, even between books?
I like Ectoplasmic Spell but as you said it's not as high of a priority for you as it might be for a different caster since you've got MM and your phrenic pool to fall back on.
Toughness is always a good fall-back pick if you don't like any other options! Same for the save-booster feats like Great Fortitude or Iron Will.
Vala's suggestion for the Spell Focus line might also be a very solid idea if those feats will work for you (and to be honest, I don't see why they wouldn't).
*********************
For my own feat, I decided to go with Improved Weapon of the Chosen. Just gotta get her profile updated and I'm all good!

Kaz - another level of Psychic Detective Investigator.
+5 hp. New 2nd lvl spell : share memory. Feat: Extra Talent
Investigator talents: Empathy, Expanded Inspiration. (Those are under the spoiler in the main thread, if curious)
SKills: +1 to all the following: Lingusistics (aklo), Lore(ustalav), Diplomacy, Disable Device, Know/Arc, Know/Loc, Know/Rel, Perception, Sense Motive, Stealth, Escape Artist, Intimidate, Bluff, Survival
Talking head skill monkey, at your service. Just don't expect me to, y'know, hit anything.
Kazamir Rhuul
On your feat, Constantin....GM, any feedback on whether we might have some downtime every now and again? One hates to meta, but one also hates to burn a feat that one will never use...
Extra Phrenic Pool is probably also solid.
Valavastra Cross
I already have expanded phrenic pool, and according to some discussion on the boards it's a feat you can only take once.
Kaz, it seems like Extra Phrenic Pool isn't one you can take multiple times, unfortunately.
Another thought I had was if you need to make a lot of concentration checks (not sure if you do or not, but it seems like it'd be fitting for psychics?), feats to bump those might be handy. Also, if spell resistance applies to your abilities, bumping CL checks could be nice as well.
GM-JZ
In the spirit of full disclosure and to make sure no one goes down any blind alleys, there isn't a huge amount of downtime in this campaign.
There is the odd day or two here and there but certainly not the prolonged periods that are needed to really make the crafting feats worth it.
Also, someone earlier mentioned that you are getting to the stage where you should all start to get a magical gear. While I broadly agree with that, I think this campaign is deliberately stingy with loot I guess to keep things dark and slightly more grounded.
Having said that, I won't let you get to level 11 and still rock masterwork studded leather!
Zed Ulmin
Wait you guys got armor?! We just punched the bottoms out of barrels and wore them like rodeo clowns!
Zed Ulmin
As I think more about it, toughness. While we have a smattering of healers, we don't have anybody whose job it is to keep people alive.
Constantin Ionescu
Part of the whole shift away from randomly-determined characters! You had random stats to go with your random magic items. Now you get to pick what you want to play and try to play it. (That of course opens the door to lots of min-maxing because it's no longer about taking what you get and trying to make the best of it.)
Constantin Ionescu
Toughness it is.
Level 5 psychic
+5 hit points
Feat: Toughness (+5 more hit points)
New spells:
1st: telempathic projection (favored class bonus)
2nd: spontaneous immolation
New psychic discipline ability: Superior automatic writing
Adventuring Skills:
+1 Diplomacy
+1 Knowledge (arcana)
+1 Knowledge (local)
+1 Perception
+1 Sense Motive
+1 Spellcraft
Background Skills:
+1 Knowledge (history)
+1 Linguistics - learned Necril

Re: shopping trip - If we're going to go shopping, the current loot list has a bunch of stuff on it that we can sell - things that are simply 'valuables' and things that just aren't being used. If there's still something on there that you want (or think we should save for a rainy day) speak now, otherwise I'm going to look into liquidating it. Obviously we'll keep the healing potions and Hazel will take the silver arrows if no one else wants them.
By the way, how are we doing as far as rest/sleep goes? I'm blanking if we had any real chance to rest between coming back from Morast and the beginning of the current day!
Kazamir Rhuul
OK, I looked at the ghost salts, and I think we will get a better bang for our buck from holy water. Also, GM - do I remember correctly that haunt siphons only work on haunts?
Zed, Hazel, or Vermundr should probably take our Oil of Magic Weapon, the +1 longsword, and the +1 dagger. Vala, Constantin and Kaz can use magic missile/ spiritual weapon, and holy water.
I'd say lets get at least 8 vials of holy water (200gp).
Also - GM, we've faced the noncorporeal before...I'm not assuming too much meta knowledge in this whole thing, am I?
