Tessai holds still a moment for Kyle to reach for the runecurse. He pulls it out at the same time Tessai pushes back (her bluff aid at work) knocking Kyle back. The scroll falls from his hand into the abyss.

Sleight of hand: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

"NO!!!!!" He jumps in after it.

Tessai:
I may need you to find that for me. I searched for 'dexterity' in our thread and it didn't pull up. "potion' pulls up too much. Thanks.

Sian's Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Kyle's Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Kyle dives down, pops out of the top and barely catches the ledge as the scroll, which falls more slowly, falls in front of his hands. As he reaches out to grab it, Sian jumps out of nowhere (from above) in the spot where he was just standing a moment a moment ago. She quickly stomps on the hand that's reaching out.

I think NOT, healer. This is MINE now! She hisses.

As Tessai continues to fend off the battery of demonic attacks, Sian quickly bends over, grab the scroll, and jumps back into the abyss, behind Kyle. As he pulls himself up, he notices that she doesn't fall, but just floats there with a grin on her face.

As she unravels the scroll, she announces, Let's see what happens when I wish your merry little band out of exis....! Her face turns white with feat. No...This isn't! It couldn't be... You don't understand! If a runecurse returns to its owner it expires immedi...

She is interrupted by a thunderous boom rocks the room, getting attention from everyone, including Tessai's assailant. Hovering down, a huge sized, half dragon, half man devil creature floats right in front of Sian's fearful face. Dark flames pours around him, and even the braves of you feel some fear in his prescience.

I am Zeodian. I have come to fulfill the contract to which I am bound. I will now take your life as has been agreed upon!

No! Sian exclaims. I bought this to take them out! THEM! She points towards the group. The huge creature looks briefly at you, and then back at her. The contract is for the holder of the runecurse, little devil-spawn. And that is YOU! With the last word, you plunges his fiery claws through her gut, coming out of the other side. You hear the slightest gasp as her body goes limp around his arm. As he pulls it out, her body is consumed in dark flames. A slight smile comes over the devil's face.

My work here is done. I will now take my leave. He turns one more look at the group, and the foe in front of them. Suddenly, the assaulting demon scurries up the wall. No. Not me! Leave me be!! I was just having fun!!

Proxad! I believe you owe me a great debt. How dare you waste your time on mortal planes when you know my dis-pleasure with you grows daily. You will return to me!

Zeodian flies forward as the demon/devil attempts to scurry up. No! Stay away!! Stay... The larger foes catches up to him, touches his captive and they both disappear.

The room is suddenly very quiet.

I'll allow a full posting period here for you all to collect your thoughts, and see what you want to do next, if anything, before pressing on. I've revealed more of the MAP (edit). Without Sian or any other immediate dangers in the heart, you've able to quickly scout the rest of the rooms in the area.

"That worked... That was scary." Then finally realising where he is, he snaps back.

Maybe. Edmond says matter of factly.

Perhaps I've been with Brandon too long. He puts a lot of stock in... what does he call it? Observable behaviour of a body in motion. Maybe I didn't see Devil's body, in motion, leaping through some kind of extra dimensional portal whilst Beppo was almost torn to pieces. he looks to the big warrior with a shrug as if to say; "am I wrong?"

"Yet again, you've saved our lives good thinking with the runecurse."

We'll go the north way? i wouldn't want to go past the chains again.

You look at the first room to the north, but it is largly empty, with a staircase to nowhere. You move down south. You see two hallways that branch off to the west, as well as a descending hallway going south (see updated map with exits marked 1, 2 and 3). Which way to you go?

Everyone bunches behind the door. The Asmodean Knot is taking its toll on all of them. a maddening place that defies the laws of nature and bends the fabric of sanity.

The group has lost Devil. So often their voice and heart. The bravest among them, he was ready to throw himself in harms way for the safety of a friend. Although coming to terms with the loss it is felt keenly by all.

The denizens of this hell-hole are no better than the environment itself. Edmond can still see the ragged scratches on Corellon's armor, the sticky splash of blood on Beppo that was so recently coursing from several near fatal wounds.

He can see they are all in strung out shape and yet the door before them looms and something has bothered him for weeks. If he does not address it now they may all go to their graves leaving a vital question unanswered.

The tension is palpable...

The silence, unbearable...
