Corellon does his best to move through the mirror quietly...as others follow behind him. As he touches the mirror, he finds himself in the unfamiliar room right in front of the beautiful chest.
Suddenly the chest opens up! Instead of treasures, however, Corellon sees teeth and a long tongue! The mimic attacks with surprise!!!
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 211d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10. The chest bites the rogue and attempts to hold on! Reflex Save!!
Behind the party, the "Dragon" wakes up. It sees Corellon struggle and the shocked look on the others' faces. It starts laughing as it fades away...in its place, a laughing devil creature hovers in the air, pointing at the heroes. 30' away, 15 feet up.
Combat actions for Corellon, Beppo and Aemon!
----------------
Kyle continues to enjoy a very hot and relaxing bubble bath!
-----------------
Tessai enters the sewers, carrying an unconscious tiefling. Janiven joins her, instructing the others to stay at the hide out. A smaller party, she argues, will attract much less attention.

Beppo van Drotske |

Beppo only knows about nobles and engineering, so he is not going to be a fount of information about this particular beast, I'm afraid. Anyone else?
Beppo responds by drawing out his shield and the defending +1 longsword, and nods to Corellon. You first - I will follow, but will not move unless the beast awakens or we have the chest. I do not want to break your cover.
GM-NINJA'D! Hey, I still had five minutes! ;P

Corellon Aelasar |

Crap in a hat.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Corellon struggles and tries to attack the mimic ...

Beppo van Drotske |

Beppo turns on the mimic and smashes it with his new sword.
Will use the bonus on attack this round.

It's always a trap - the damn treasure box just sitting there is always a trap. Can't it ever just be a treasure chest with a monster guarding it, for the sake of Pete?

Something typical, expected and totally cliche...in the Asmodeus Knot?? I think KNOT! Get it? I Keel me!!!!

Beppo van Drotske |

My money is on the following: at least one of us falls unconscious, but somehow right about the time that a total wipeout looks certain, a couple of key rolls go our way and the bad guys go down.
In other words, pretty much what happens on every encounter. Hah!

![]() |

No follow up attack by Aemon? He's just watching the rogue become lunch snack? Might want to take two rounds of action at this point...
Round one
Beppo attacks the chest with his sword. He hits, but only seems to have minimal impact.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
To make matters worse, his sword is stuck on the chest!
Enemy Turn
The chest continue to chew on the rogue.
1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
5' Aemon (36/36 1 Con Dmg, Disease?2),
10' Corellon (10/27 Pinned, 1 Con Dmg, 1 WIS Dmg, Disease?3), Beppo (40/40 Unarmed, 3 Str Dmg(-1hit/dmg), 1 Con Dmg, Diseased?),
15' Mimic ( ),
Note: Beppo's weapon is stuck to the mimic due to it's adhesive. He would need to pull it free with a STR check as a standard action.

Corellon Aelasar |

Realizing he really has got himself in some deep trouble here, Corellon tries to break free of the chest's grip on him.
Combat Maneuver - free from grapple/pin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 No DEX bonus while pinned so went with the combat maneuver
I guess at least at this point you realize that I am not cheating ... at least anyone but myself. I'd also like to cheat death here but am now getting concerned.
"I've got three potions of cure light wounds in my bag if you need them ..." He yells to Beppo and Aemon as he struggles.

Beppo van Drotske |

Gaah! yells the fighter as his sword sticks fast in the box. Undaunted, he draws another (+1 keen longsword) and strikes again, with great vengeance and furious anger.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
...or not. LOL! ...and here I was hoping for a pair of 17s. Roll better, Aemon - we need ya!

Aemon Brooks |

How did we not see this coming i blame myself... Sorry about missing my post, hard day at work and i fell asleep right after.
Aemon just signs. This is it then.
"Crap!"
He then fire's at the chest.
First shot MW longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 11

He then slowly shakes his head.
Then seeing his friend being eaten, he focuses up.

Player Turn
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Beppo attacks the chest, concerned about his friend. His next weapon almost gets stuck as well. Aemon hollers, Move aside! and lets four arrows loose. Three of them hit, though they don't penetrate as much as he would hope. Thankfully, he sees some sort of ooze or puss coming out of the wounds, giving him hope that they are making way with it.
The imp floating in the air continues to laugh. I think Mimmy likes the way your friend tastes. I hope he doesn't give Mimmy indigestion like the dwarf did a few months ago!
Enemy Turn
1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Despite being attacked, the chest continues to chew the rogue in the biggest display of irony ever seen. The rogue looks to be in terrible condition, barely hanging onto life as he struggles.
5' Aemon (36/36 1 Con Dmg, Disease?2),
10' Corellon (1/27 1 Con Dmg, 1 WIS Dmg, Disease?3), Beppo (40/40 3 Str Dmg(-1hit/dmg), 1 Con Dmg, Diseased?),
15' Mimic (Hurt, ),

Aemon Brooks |

Aemon desperate to kill the box attacking his friend screams.
"Let him go!"
First shot MW longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 14
First Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 4 = 14
Second shot MW longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 13

I think i have one heropoint left can i use it to reroll my attack.

Hero's Turn
1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 8
The party tries desperately to free their friend, but to no avail.
Enemy Turn
1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
The oversized mimic finishes chewing Corellon, belches, and licks its chops.
I'm glad none of you are girls. Mimmy doesn't like the taste of girls. I think it's all the perfume they put on or something. Well, only two of you left. Maybe after he's eaten all three of you he'll stop complaining about being so hungry all the time...at least for a little bit!!

20' Mimic (Hurt, ),

Beppo van Drotske |

Beppo growls, That's enough!! as he strikes down upon the mimic once more.

Corellon Aelasar |

As darkness once again washes over Corellon he feels a sinking feeling of regret ... his body and his mind are terribly weary and in some small way the thought of an end that is near brings relief.

Aemon Brooks |

Aemon seeing Beppo finally defeat the chest, runs up to Corellon and searches for a potion to pour into his mouth. With a stern look on his face he turns to Beppo.
"I'll get him up, cover me."
Move to get to him, standard to get the potion then next round standard to pour in his mouth?

Aemon Brooks |

First shot MW longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 6
First Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 4 = 11
Second shot MW longbow: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 18
Second Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 4 = 9
Really sorry about that, i read it quick on my phone and failed.

Corellon Aelasar |

And usually I think to myself, CON, who needs CON, when will I ever need any help from CON, here is that time, oh well.
CON Check: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
... and that makes how many bad rolls in a row. Not sure what the implications are, ie: instadeath, if need be I can use a hero point to reroll.

![]() |

Yeah!! Shoot that little..errr...wait! ME?!?! What did I do?? I was just watching! Can't a guy watch a little get together without resorting to violence on him? C'mon, now!
Corellon is bleeding out. He's now at -8. If he hits -10, he dies. He can make a CON check to stablize, someone can do a heal check, or, a conscious party member can administer a curing potion if one is one hand.

![]() |

Corellon is stablized, and recovering consciousness.
You can call me Lanny. You're in the Knot, though I suspect you already know that since you came through one of those teleportation mirrors. You don't have to worry about me hurting you. It was Mimmy you had to worry about. I guess no one will be worried about Mimmy anymore... The imp's voice trails off as he lets out a heavy sigh.

Beppo van Drotske |

Beppo looks back in the direction from whence the trio came, hoping to see that the teleportation works both ways.
He then narrows his eyes at the imp. He barks, Where in the Knot are we?

![]() |

Heck if I know. I don't really like to leave this room. There are things out there that give me the shivers. Mimmy's been takin' good care of me though. Not really by choice, as Mimmy pretty much ate everything that he could reach. Thankfully, I float all the time, so Mimmy and I got along OK. Well, until you killed the poor guy.
You look around the room. It's a small room, definitely designed for tight storage. There's a strong door shut tightly to the south.
Well, since you're stuck here with me, at least I won't be lonely for company. Serves ya right for killin' my only pal. He wasn't much, but he was certainly entertaining.

Aemon Brooks |

"Beppo. Relax.. as much as you can in a place like this, we're safe but this was clearly a bad idea." Aemon then turns to Corellon. "How are you my friend?" Lowering his bow Aemon nods at Lanny. "Strange place for you to be hanging out in even if you are a devil, what's your story?"

Beppo van Drotske |

Is the door to the south the only exit?
Beppo relaxes...barely. He looks around the room for anything of value.
Perception if appropriate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Don't tell me I almost got Corellon killed and all we have to show for it is a chatty imp...

Aemon Brooks |

"I'm no wizard, but i'm glad you're not constantly attacking us like everything else here. Who was your master?"
Aemon then finally takes a proper look around the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Corellon Aelasar |

Corellon brings himself to a stand, "Great, now what have we done? Thanks guys, once again you came to my rescue. All I wanted to do was get past the lock on that chest and to shower us all with riches. Oh well."
He checks to see if the door is locked and puts his ear to it to hear what might be on the other side.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
