This is a Star Wars Saga Edition campaign set during the time immediately following the conclusion of the Clone Wars.
My apologies gents. My wife's been out of town for the last three days. I've been a little busy with both our jobs. She's back this evening. I will spend time to catch up here in a few hours.
Thanks.

Sorry for the unexplained absence.
I shall catch up this evening.

Does the FF Force and Destiny book have anything interesting for Jedi?
Male Human Woodsman 5 | HP 60/60 | Defense 19, T 19, FF 15 | Fort +5, Ref +7, Will +3 | Init +4 (+6 in the Blight) | Perception +10 (+12 in the Blight or vs Myrddraal; +14 vs Trollocs or Myrddraal in the Blight; +16 vs Trollocs in the Blight)
Probably not. The system in general treats the Force as an afterthought.
Male Human
Actually, the Force and Destiny book focuses on Force users and the Force. However, it is so different as a system that not much if anything can be gained by looking into it other than fluff.
Are Force powers still activated in the same way, or are they easier to use?
Male Human
I think Force powers are still activated the same way, that is via the rolling of Force dice. There are more of them however.
Also, the six FaD careers (Consular, Guardian, Mystic, Seeker, Sentinel, Warrior) basically grant Force Rating 1 at the expense of granting one fewer skill "rank", so to speak. Each career has three specializations, one of which is a lightsaber form spec. With the exception of most lightsaber specs, the other specs have talents that increase a character's Force Rating once XP are spent to purchase them. So, basically, by increasing a PC's Force Rating, you increase the number of Force dice rolled to activate a Force power, thus making things easier sorta kinda.
All in all, I like the system. It is very different from Saga, sure, but that does not make it necessarily bad. But just like Saga or D20 or Pathfinder are not for everyone, the same holds for the FG one as well.
Male Human Noble 3
I like the d20 system. I have not been able to find a group for ff game but I do have a few of the books. The aRte is very nice but I'm too much a d20 person.
I thought the system was fine, I just hates how they've treated the Force. I think Saga has done the best balancing act between Force users and everyone else.
Human Scoundrel 3 | 1,251 credits | Effects: None
I liked the system used for building characters. The branching tree system was pretty fast and easy to learn.
But the dice mechanics made the system feel a little swingy to me. Not to mention slow. I'm all for giving the GM more narrative control, but I worry that it was done at the expense of playability and speed. In fact, I'm convinced you could just use Fudge dice and roughly get the same result.
It also feels like FF developed the game specifically to sell their own dice. And something about that just kind of irks me a bit. Not enough to write the system off, admittedly, but I could certainly understand why someone would.
I'm curious about the West End d6 version. I've never played it.
Male Human Noble 3
I did a few times and found it a bit burdensome.
Male HP 23/30 | R 13, F 12, W 15 | DT 12 | Per +9 | FP 4/5 | DP 1/1 | DSP 1 Umbaran Jedi
I had friends that played the West End system back in the 80's and 90's and loved it though I never did.
Male Human
Actually, Force users and non-Force users are pretty nicely balanced in the FFG game.
As for their dice, you do not actually need them as the books themselves even have a conversion table that "translates" them into the usual numbered dice. It is a more narrative game with its Successes and Advantages, Failures and Threats, but it does put things into the hands of the players a bit more, not only the GM, due to the way dice checks and dice pools work (the GM assigns difficulties and such and then depending on the dice results players and GM work together to narrate what is happening).
I actually like both Saga and FFG, so I am pretty content that I get to play in both types of games via PbP. :-)
Male Human Noble 3
I would think the FFG would be hard.
Is there a place where he can buy a tauntaun?
Male Human Noble 3
Hope everyone is doing well.

I will be unable to post or very spotty from this Wednesday through Sunday as I am moving. Please DMPC me as needed. Thanks.

I hope so. Maybe something happened in the GM's life. I'm sure he'll post soon.
Gentlemen, I have really really enjoyed playing this game with you all for the last five months. It started out as a one month experiment and turned into much more.
However, Renlo is spot on. I have a couple of RL issues that are consuming my thoughts and time and I find that I can't do the campaign justice any longer.
I am going to write an epilogue post to close this last story arc. If you want to keep your characters up to date, at the conclusion of this arc they would be at the mid point between levels 3 and 4.
With that I bid each of you a good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night.
Male Human Noble 3
Thank you for a wonderful game. I hope that everything works out!
Male Human
No worries mate. It has been fun. Take care and I hope everything goes well!

Best luck and wishes to you, GM! Should you decide to come back and restart it, I won't say no.
So...
Who wants to play an Old Republic game?
F human jedi/3
Curse of the boards strikes back, I suppose. Lots of ill-fated games these days.
Perhaps it's for the best, though. I've started my own campaign (after various technical issues,) and my college classes start up this coming Monday, so perhaps I should clear my plate a little and focus for once...

I would be interested. Is it SAGA?

Can I play? Can I play a miraluka? Will we be good or bad?

That depends on if people are interested.
As to whether you serve the Sith Empire, or the Republic, I have campaigns for both, depending on which is preferred.
Male Human Noble 3
Male Human
Well, it might be interesting to see how an unarmed fighter would fare in a world of lightsabers and blasters. Echani and Teras Kasi seem to make such a character pretty viable. :-)
I generally prefer good guys though, especially in Star Wars.
Shadow's Status
I am up for it Renlo. I think I gave the Old Republic source book. As I am a Soldier in a certain Phantom's Rimward Spin game I would probably be a Jedi for the Old Republic game or a Sith if that is what the group prefers, I am flexible.
Thanks DM, certainly enjoyed the game
Male Human
Just a thought, Renlo, but if you do decide to go through with it, you might consider asking those players that submitted characters in the Rimward Spin recruitment, but did not get selected. It could serve to expedite matters, even make a recruitment thread unnecessary, if you did decide to do it that way.
Human Scoundrel 3 | 1,251 credits | Effects: None
It's been fun, guys. But I'm afraid I'll need to bow out of another Star Wars game for now since I'll be DMing a new game soon, and I'll need the time. That being said this was great and I hope we can game again in the future.
I was intending to, Castor. It would depend on whether I'm starting from scratch on a player base.
And as for playing the bad guy, serving the Sith Empire doesn't always translate into being a puppy kicker.
Male Human
Good point that. So, although I generally prefer to play the good guy/hero/what-have-you, I can be flexible, as Storyteller Shadow said, if it be Sith the majority wants.
Male Human Noble 3
I want to be able to yell POWER, UNLIMITED POWER!
Male Human
If this is going to move ahead, should we hijack this thread for a bit of brainstorming? Or better to wait for the proper OOC or Recruitment thread to pop up? As usual with a Star Wars game, I am a wee bit excited. :-)
POWAH!
I'll create a proper discussion thread later today.
Male Human Technomancer 5
And here it is. If you're interested, hop on over and cast your vote for Republic vs Sith.

Is there a way that the game can be deactivated or closed?
Male Human Technomancer 5
The GM has to do it. Otherwise, it goes inactive after a month of no activity.
There might be a way to hide it on your feed.
