Miranda Andegar |

Miranda stares for a moment at Smith, then sighs, knowing that he can't help his tactless ways. "Smith does make a good point. We should definitely take poor Parda's body back with us, but for now those potions could be useful as we explore further."

![]() |

Just a note, those potions aren't on her, Smith detected them past the end of the stalactite path.

Miranda Andegar |

Gotcha.
"Well then, let's go get those potions, with the assumption that nothing comes out and attacks us. Given the state of poor Parda, can someone look carefully for traps?"

Dromer Greyskin |

Dromer stares at the Android for a moment. Not with a look of disgust, or pity, but curiosity.
"Smith"? Huh. I didn't think he had a name. Guess I should stop calling him "green-eyes".
Dromer stands and approaches the eastern ledge.
"We should be careful. Whoever did this is still down here... Unless something else got to them first..."
He peers over the ledge.

Dromer give me a Fortitude save, DC 13 vs. blinding
Just as Dromer looks out over the edge of this short passageway, you all see a bright light fill the area ahead of Dromer, only bearable due to the wall keeping too much from coming in
A dark cavern opens up here, its twenty-foot-high ceiling thick
with stalactites. A rocky shore overlooks a placid pool and
stream, fed by a trickle of water leaking from a narrow fissure
to the north. A small garden of toadstools and dark mold grows
along the banks.
Near the bank, you see a toothy, frog-like creature with almost unbearably bright eyes - so bright they fill this whole area with clear visibility.

Dromer Greyskin |

Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Dromer averts his gaze at first, and then tries to scan the area using the periphery of his vision.
Knowledge (dungeoneering/nature/planes) to Identify?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
My knowledge checks are on fire today (-_-)
Dromer remains still, and whispers back to the party, "I don't know what it is... some sort of frog with lights for eyes... I don't know if it's seen us or not. I think its eyes are just... like that."

Dromer Greyskin |

Dromer draws his sap, rather than his greatsword, and reaches for a couple of the beetle legs that are scattered about.
"Maybe it eats the beetles that are around here? I've read a lot about cave ecosystems. If we feed it, maybe we can pass by it. I see a pathway going to the right."
Then, as if he just realized something, he adds, "You might want to hide, Iantha. You'd probably fit in its mouth..."

Iantha Narili |

Iantha wrinkles her nose. "What? No way, ieuw!"
Curiosity peaked, Iantha lies down on her stomach and inches forward untill she can see over the ledge, taking care to half close her eyes to keep the worst of the light out.

Miranda Andegar |

"Well, I do wonder if that creature is what killed Parda. We likely should investigate... cautiously."
Miranda pulls out her scroll of mage armor and casts it on herself.

Smith comments to Miranda
"I believe that outcome is unlikely. Unless I misheard swords for eyes as lights for eyes."
Then responding to Dromer "That beetle plan is a good idea, I don't suppose it talks."

Stealth (this is going to be great): 1d20 - 9 ⇒ (3) - 9 = -6
As the scraps land near the creature, Hroren tries to stealthily lead the way down the alley. However, so focused on avoiding the creature's attention, he slams whole bodily into the cave wall leaving the metal of his armour sounding a resounding clang.

![]() |

As Hroren attempts to sneak around the corner, he accidentally steps on a loose pile of stones that apparently were holding up even more along the wall, causing a loud crash as they fell. The frog quickly turns away from the food thrown at it to check out the group, and stares at Iantha for a moment with pure hunger. It quickly looks over at Dromer and, realizing it likely wouldn't live to eat its prey, goes back to eating the beetle scraps thrown by it just before. When it looks over, it's bright eyes almost hurt just to look at.
Need a DC 13 Fortitude save from Smith, Miranda, and Hroren.
Hroren can see down the path a little ways, due to the light from the frog, and some fire beetles dead along the path. About 20 feet out, though, it gets too dark to see.

Fort: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13 Just got it!
Miranda tries to follow along silently.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 But she unexpectedly burps while trying to follow Iantha. LOL

Iantha Narili |

Not wanting anything to do with hungry toads, Iantha peers ahead into the darkness, trying to see if there are any dangers ahead.

Hroren peers around the area before him. "There seems to be three paths ahead. The one to the right is some kind of small nook, and the one ahead and the one to the left lead off somewhere. I can't really see much. Shall we inspect the nook first?"
Hroren turns to inspect the area to his right. perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

A collection of crates, boxes, rubble, and scavenged metal lies
heaped in the northwest section of this damp cave. Several strange
chalk drawings of twisted, spiny plants, a strange three-legged
creature, and emaciated four-armed humanoids mark the walls.
I'll be watching the thread tonight to try to and make up for lost time if people post

Dromer Greyskin |

Dromer continues to guard the rear, but looks anxious to see what's ahead.
When the party moves up, Dromer will glance in the room. Given enough time and space, his curiosity will cause him to examine the drawings while the rest of the group searches the room.

Nobody recognizes any of the work on the walls. Digging through the rubble Dromer doesn't find much besides useless wires and scraps, but does manage to find 7 silverdisks.
For those that don't know, silverdisks are a form of currency for the region. Worth 10gp, they're effectively depleted batteries.

Iantha Narili |

Iantha peers ahead. "Hm... Looks like the left tunnel continues on, but the other one is another dead-end. Maybe we should do that first?"
She takes a few steps forward to take a look at the tunnel ahead.
