Forlen Watersoul
Forlen looks at his scimitar and frowns as he puts it away.
"Hrmph. Blasted thing managed to dodge way too many of my blows. I definitely need more training. I don't know what happened in that room, but I seem to have lost my edge."
Forlen eyes Iantha warily "Both me and Dromer took some hits. A channel would be appreciated. Even though Brigh is not a deity I personally prescribe to, I would appreciate her blessing in times of need."
I was toying with Forlen being more reluctant to accept healing from a god of artifice, but it'd needlessly complicate things. Just picture Forlen becoming more and more grumpy as he realises he can't go without her aid in this journey.
Dromer Greyskin
Dromer stands up straight and stretches. His blade is mostly still clean after cleaving through the dried up undead creature. He admires a slight glint off the metal before sheathing it once more on his back.
"Need to get a bigger blade."
Dromer grins at Forlen, and then flips his hair away from his face.
Forlen Watersoul
Forlen mumbles a quick "thank you" to Brigh, but it isn't really heartfelt.
"I accept it gladly enough; doesn't mean I have to like it. How do I put it? Say you have had a bad day and you end up in a bar. You drink so much, you wake up the next morning with a head-splitting hangover. It might have wiped away your bad memories, but do the ends justify the means? And aren't the ends worse than your original situation? Or in a way you'd understand: would you wipe away a memory cluster by deleting half of your memory bank?"
He realises what he just said and looks sheepishly at Iantha. "Not that I'm not appreciative of Lady Brigh's gifts. It's just a philosophy issue."
Please tell me if my behaviour is disruptive. It's in my character's background, but I don't want it to be at the cost of the group dynamic. I kinda like the idea of someone having to put up with something of his opposite alignment, but not at the cost of antagonising everyone else.

Sounds like the cloak is up for lottery, in alphabetical order 1d5 ⇒ 2 Forlen, you've just won a brand new car cloak of resistance +1!!
5d20 ⇒ (15, 2, 12, 1, 18) = 48
Searching the room, in addition to the scrawlings on the wall, you find a black card of some kind. It looks like it may be a keycard, but writing on it is old and faded, and hard to be sure.
Iantha Narili
Iantha blinks a few times. "What? I'm not following your analogy at all Forlen. We should discuss this seriously. When we're having dinner. That sounds like a good idea. Dinner..."
Miranda Andegar
@Forlen: I personally love these kinds of mini-disagreements between players, so I'm all for it. :)
Miranda smiles at Forlen. "You may not prescribe to Brigh's philosophies, my friend, but it is hard to deny her results. I am happy to have you with us, Iantha." and she gives Iantha a scratch between the ears.
Iantha Narili
Iantha doesnt seem to notice Miranda being a bit uncomfortable. Ratfolk are generally a close physical society.
Good mood restored, Iantha takes a last look around the room.

Not seeing a lot, she pokes her nose into several things, seeing if they smell more interesting then they look.
"I dont know about this room. I just dont know enough about all this stuff to know what it does. Shall we continue on? We can always come back if we learn more about what this all is."
Smith_
Sminth continues to examine the key, almost entranced by it, not interested or concerned by the various scritching.
Eventually he looks "Yes, we should continue for now."
Dromer Greyskin
Dromer takes out a couple wandermeal biscuits, offers one to Iantha, and crams the other one into his mouth.
"Sure, let's -MUNCH- move on. Maybe we'll -BUURP- finally find out what's going on."

The last door in this area opens on its own when you scan the black key card you found. Beyond the door you find a long hallway that doesn't seem to lead anywhere, as well as a set of double doors in front of you that open to a large room as you approach.
A large metal desk with blinking lights and strange glowing panels
sits atop a raised area on the east side of this room near a circular
table. Two couches covered with black material sit to the south a
pair of black metal pillars. Splatters of dried blood stain the floor
and walls near a pair of doors to the north, while here and there
patches of rust-red mold and fungus cling to the southern wall.
The room itself is brightly lit by glowing panels on the ceiling.

You're surprised to find there actually is not some horrific death trap awaiting you in this room
Iantha Narili
I am assuming the 'what you see is what you get' rule.
Iantha follows Smith into the room, curious about the desk. Looking around for a bit, she spots what looks like a pool of blood, previously hidden by the pillar in the room.
"Eh... everyone... there is a large amount of blood over here..."
heal check to see how old the blood is: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Smith: The lights seem to blink randomly without any real pattern, probably due to malfunction rather than by design. Occasionally a line or two of an unknown language appears briefly, as well as images of kasatha and what looks like a hairless blue lion, with two tails and tentacles where a lion's mane would be.
Iantha: The blood appears to be only a few days old... roughly as long ago as Baine's party was said to have come down into the cave
And yes, if it's on the map and in your room, you see it. This area is just too oddly shaped to easily cut off and open as you progress.
Dromer Greyskin
Dromer snorts reflexively at Smith's comment, and then seems entirely embarrassed at the action.
"It's the first thing I saw when we came in. Unless Baine was travelling with Kuthites, it's probably not a good sign."
Stepping further into the room, Dromer leans over to inspect the flashing images. He analyzes the blue lion with a fascinated look.
Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 (25 if it's an "alien monster")
Dromer flips his hair away from his face.
"Wooooow..."
Iantha Narili
"That blood is worrysome. Those Kasatha's didn bleed anymore. And its old enough to be from when Baine disappeared."
Iantha frowns in worry. "We better be carefull. Whatever caused this is most likely still around."

The lights are truly random. The blue lion isn't something you've ever seen before, but by it's body structure it looks like it is built to climb and chew through whatever it wants. Overall, the room seems fairly benign, and prior to whatever caused the blood was just a connection through the doors to the north, east, and behind the desk.
Smith_
Smoth hardens his skin once again and moves to cover the north door.
"Let us secure the most likely source of danger first so that we can explore in peace."
Smith_
Smith tries holding up the key that opened the front door, if that doesn't work he looks for some sort of panel or other mechanism.
Iantha Narili
We have local guy who once said he'd take 20 to bash in a door. The door wasnt locked. It did give the BBEG on the other side enough time to prepare for battle.
GM Ahayzo
|
It took me a minute to find it, so I really thought I was about to tell you this was a completely normal door lol
As Smith inserts the key card, the northern door opens, occasionally sticking at points where blood covers the floor beneath.
Bloodstains mar the floor and walls of this hallway, while scorch
marks and smears of ash on the walls evidence some sort of
altercation having taken place in this area relatively recently.
Four tangled mounds of metal and other materials lie further up
the hall, surrounded by strangely colored stains.
Iantha Narili
Iantha carefully follows behind Dromer. She's not afraid, but if some enemy were to jump them, it would be better if they jumped the tall strong 1/16th orc, then the small furry rat...
"Yeah. More things should be fixed with eating. You'd love ratfolk politics. Never make policy on an empty stomach."
Iantha pokes one of the rubble heaps. "Might have been a robot?
Use of lorekeeper ability if it still works on a bunch of slag

The heap of metal looks to be the remains of 4 or drones, similar but not identical to the one you encountered in Khonnir's tavern. The entrance to the room shows the most signs of battle, where the rest is smeared in blood as if someone was dragged through the eastern door, through which you can hear a low hum. Miranda is able to detect the remnants of magic cast in the recent past, all throughout this hallway and continuing to the east.
Iantha Narili
I attracted concrud this weekend and completely forgot to post, sorry
"Yeah, you're right Miranda. Nothing active here. Lets proceed with caution."
Iantha walks up to the other door, and listens carefully.

You can hear some light whirring, sparking, and humming from the other side of the eastern door.
