I was surprised yours didn't show up when I filtered Tengu. Guess it's not just the new ones that aren't tagged properly.

As for a character bio, I don't have a lot, but I'll type it up when I'm back. Feel free to ask me about the "task," Forlen's the kind of guy who'll tell you all about his secret mission. :P
I didn't even mean all that.
Just Race, Class, Sex (or preferred gender pronoun), etc.
Your header leaves out the basics.
Just harder to interact in this format without details ^_^

Fun rat fact of the day: rats grit their front teeth when pleased (or in pain). Its called bruxing. It causes their eyes to pop a bit as the muscles responsible for the movement lie very close to the eyes.
you can watch a video of it here
warning, it is totally adorable.

Tactics question for the group =D
Dromer has a Tumor Familiar
Miranda has a Wyrd Familiar
Forlen has a Toad Familiar
As part of my build, I'll be taking Bonded Mind. It's a prerequisite for Take the Hit, which I'll be taking at 7th level. My Familiar has the Valet Archetype, so it shares my Teamwork feats. By myself, the idea is that my Familiar uses Take the Hit to share some of my damage, and then fast heals itself at 5hp/rd (it's what Tumors do).
I'll also be taking Escape Route, so that my Familiar and I can move freely around (or away from) enemies. Super useful for a frontline fighter.
As part of a group, if Miranda and Forlen take Bonded Mind, I can then use Take the Hit on you guys as well (should it ever be needed). If you also take Escape Route, it increases your chances for getting out of cramped situations.
But those are just "nifty" options. Here's the really cool possibility:
If you guys take Bonded Mind and Share Spells, we can buff each other with Personal spells. It could be really awesome, since we each have different spell lists.
Plus we'd have the constant, nonverbal Message ability that we'd all share through Bonded Mind.
What do you guys think?
(Smith and Iantha are obviously free to join in however you wish, though I don't think this will benefit you as much; and you couldn't take Share Spells unless you somehow acquired a CFE)

Forlen Watersoul |

I'm up for taking Bonded Mind, Share Spells, and Escape Route (Escape Route-ing with a familiar... wow), but I too am doubtful if I'll actually take them. There are some really cool feats I want for my build, and I think process is too slow to think that far ahead. I mean, this campaign is going on for almost 9 months and we're still level one. I'm happy when we even hit level 3 anytime soon.
Also, will type a description in my bio now.

And I do apologize for that. Being my first time GMing a PbP, I found out the hard way how different it is on my part from playing a PbP and GMing in person. Add in 3 dropped characters and two new ones, even more time got added. I do believe we've got a good, smooth rolling group now though and I hope it goes a lot smoother than it did getting into it.

Iantha Narili |

We had a good start, but we lost momentum with the people leaving. As it was also a combat situation, it was a bit of a double whammy.
But I feel we're picking up the pace again, and that we have rekindled motivation, so I am sure we can get this back on track.
Choo choo!

I didn't mean that as an insult or anything. I understand PbP-ing can be difficult, it was just an observation. Didn't mean to imply this is boring or anything.

Forlen Watersoul |

Here's my first post with a bit of a description. Think of a humanoid frog, but less cute. Ah, found a picture that looks like what I had in mind. It's of a handicapped baby (anencephaly), so beware if you're squeamish. PICTURE
Basically, the avatar picture is more or less exactly what I look like.
As for stats, definitely made to frontline a bit. I'll go upload my statblock as well.

Miranda Andegar |

I'd be willing to consider taking the feats for my familiar as well. Once we get a decent amount of money I definitely plan to grab some ioun stones and stick them in my fun little construct.

Iantha Narili |

Actually, I could maybe go for eldritch heritagae. I already need skill focus for Exalted. But it would mean I would get a familiar quite late. But it is an option.

Dromer Greyskin |

Skill Focus
Eldritch Heritage
Bonded Mind
Share Spells
It's up to you. Considering by then you'd be able to buff me with Righteous Might, I won't complain! ^_^

Personally I think you shouldn't do it. I think it'd be really mean to the kind GM and his evil monsters lovely pets.

Iantha Narili |

More fun rat facts:
Rats dont have lips as we know them, but they can kind of scrape their teeth along the bottom or upper part. In case you get sticky seeds you need to dislodge.
When they do this they wiggle their face a lot and it looks both hilarious and ridiculous. It is however not at all related to the human behaviour.
Rats, like a lot of other animals, puff up their fur when angry. It makes them look bigger.
In this vidio you can see the black and white rat puffing up his fur.
Luckily, domesticated rats dont fight a lot, as they are usually littermates and have determined who is dominant with play when they are younger. 'Fights' usually is just pushing each other around a lot and somtimes a little bit of kicking, followed by cleaning eachother.

Sound good. Unless you guys KoolAid Man your way into Ulreth's office, there shouldn't be any combat.

Iantha Narili |

While not very nice, Iantha is inclined to sneak in and steal it. It all seems very untrustworthy and she doesnt want to make promisses she doesnt intend to keep.
There arent any real authoroties. But I am open for all kinds of creative solutions.

Forlen Watersoul |

In-character, Forlen doesn't really care either way. Out of character I'm in favour of just asking for it, as that's the route of the least danger. If that flops, though, we're the likely suspects if it disappears...

Miranda Andegar |

I will be unavailable essentially the whole weekend, as my wife and I are going to a wedding and then have our own 5th anniversary celebration. I will resume normal posting Monday night or at worst Tuesday morning.

Dromer Greyskin |

I just figured it was easier and quicker to ask in this format.
We don't have someone that can handle magical traps, so if it's protected we wouldn't have a way to deal with it.
I'd say we could send in the diminutive toad, with its +12 size bonus to Stealth, but it can't communicate with Forlen in a meaningfully detailed manner.
A reduced Iantha is probably our next best bet, but she'd be going solo. If we decide on that, then the rest of us should be inside, distracting him and getting him out of his office.
And we'd need to replace it with a convincing fake; maybe something from the Tavern.
Dromer, in-character, despite being good-aligned, is still chaotic-aligned, and doesn't care much for this guy or his operation. In order of preference: steal, diplomacy, fight.

Forlen Watersoul |

Oh hey, totally forgot about my familiar. Apparently it's pretty great at stealth. I keep forgetting, do I get the Bestiary entry (meaning it gets Skill Focus: Stealth and a racial modifier)? Anyway, leaving him inside would be a great way to steal it in the middle of the night, provided there's a window nearby. And if there is, maybe I or Iantha can grab it as well.
As I said, I'm in favour of talking it out of him, especially since that means I can get my familiar in place if it fails, but stealing isn't out of the option.

![]() |

Assuming the Beastiary entry is the one the the SRD lists for a wizard familiar (I believe it is), yes, you get the toad with a whopping +21 Stealth modifier.

Iantha Narili |

No wonder you keep forgetting it. You just cant see it :P
Iantha is Neutral good, but being ratfolk knows what its like to be picked on. Also, in her logic 'borrowing' the disk for the greater good is less of a problem then willfully making promisses she doesnt intend to keep.
Altough Forlen talking and leaving his familiar if it doesnt work out does sound like a good idea. At least we have a back up plan that way.
Also, talking it out like this works a lot faster, we can always say that we discussed this over food in game.

![]() |

I'll see if I can get one up of what youvr seen tomorrow. I'm particularly scarce for time this weekend so it might not be till Monday or Tuesday.

Iantha Narili |

I am mostly in favor of something with a back up plan :P
If talky talky doesnt work, we can always try stealing it, but if stealing fails, I doubt we can talk our way out of it.
Reduce person on Iantha is still also a very good option. Normal rats are Tiny, so after reduce person Iantha is the right size.

I'm returning home tonight and will have a rough map up in the morning (there's no included map so it's a little more than just stripping it from the PDF)

Dromer Greyskin |

Oh. You'd figure there'd be a map for something with the potential to be stolen.
GM, in that case, it'd probably be fine to just describe the rooms for us, and the perimeter. Assume that, with our scouting potential, we could determine watches (if any) and any obvious defenses.
Unless there's combat, and then we'll need a map ^_^

![]() |

Sorry about that, drunk driver took out a nearby utility pole, been getting my stuff back up and running the last couple hours (first world problems, right?)
I'll stick to general layout descriptions for now, and add more detail to the map I'm working on should you guys get caught by murderous bodyguards and thugs things not according to plan.
I'll add detailed layouts of individual rooms as you explore
