It's funny, I actually increases the height of this ledge. The book has it as 5 but I thought "Dromer can just pick up half the party at that height, screw that" lol
Don't worry about posting too frequently. As long as no one is getting left behind, which I'm making sure not to cause by proceeding, it won't be a problem. I love seeing the interactions between you guys. Especially Dromer when it comes to Smith :)

I don't know what's more awesome. That video, or that they're called rittens.
Unless Miranda has some compelling reason convincing you guys to go north by the time I get home, I'll continue.

I'm going to for Miranda to post, only because it's been a couple days since she chimed in

No problem, just didn't want to push too much. I always assume weekends will be slow and just get happy if they aren't :)

Funny story about these (assuming it's the creature I think it is). Back in AD&D we once had a Half-Ogre in the party named "Bamm" (complete with an Intelligence of 4). The entire party was blinded when one of these jumped out and surprised us, except for Bamm. When Initiative was rolled (using d10s), Bamm didn't charge and smash it like he did with everything else. Instead, he calmly walked forward and grabbed it, and for the next hour or so we had a flashlight!
Until he turned it "off" by squeezing too hard...

I did something similar once, different creature though. Except mine was turned off when I tried make it brighter the same way you do a glowstick...

Haha, yeah! Altough Iantha wont turn into a gremlin once she gets wet :P

With an emo teen, a crusty dwarf, a space alien, an android and a ratfolk, and now this stealth action, I feel like we are a hilariously I'll pepared Enterprise away team. All we need now is red shirts ;)

![]() |

That must be how Hroren failed his stealth roll. Tried setting his phaser to stun, accidentally blew a hole in the wall!

Dromer Greyskin |

Ok. I wasn't thinking Stealth so much as Distraction, but whatever works =).
Should we move our minis into the next passageway? Or will you?
Dromer has two torches, four tindertwigs, and five flasks of oil, so once we've moved to the edge of the darkness he can use his free hand to provide light.
Being a 1/16th Orc, he doesn't have darkvision =P.

![]() |

Feel free to move yourselves at any point. I've just been moving tokens when someone posts movement but the token didn't move. Obviously I have no issue doing it but of course I can only estimate where exactly you wanted to end. I'll adjust the fog of war once I'm back to a computer soon.
At the moment I believe I have Iantha and Smith with visibility, and Dromer ready to light various sources.

Sorry guys, driver took out a pole last night so I had no internet. I'll try to post this morning if I have a few minutes but it might not be till this evening.

Iantha Narili |

The fact that power/phone/internetlines are above ground in the USA is so weird for me... I keep wondering why you just dont put them in the ground like we do. Then you dont lose power/phone/internet every time someone hits a pole, lighting strikes, tornadoes, ice storms and/or woodpeckers strike.

![]() |

Actually I can tell you exactly why since I work for a local utility.
Cost, plain and simple. It's cheaper to run new lines from one pole to another than to feed through, essentially, a generic pipe. Plus with new installations, I'll let you guess which is cheaper between throwing a bunch of poles into the ground vs. trenching a huge stretch, installing the aforementioned pipe, and feeding the first runs through it.
But, as Hroren points out, it keeps us protected from mole people. Unfortunately, in my experience, they are less of a threat than human people...

Dromer Greyskin |

Ooo! Ooo! Pick me!
We have this thing in the U.S. called "methamphetamine". Maybe your country does, too! People really love it. Like, addiction level love. Problem is, unless you know how to make it, you have to pay for it. It's a total bummer. So, what's the common sense solution to this economic dilemma? Rip copper wires out of the ground and sell them to recycling centers!
It's actually a thing. But Andrew's explanation is probably the bigger reason.

![]() |

*knocks on wood*
You know, now that you mention it, it's been a while since I've heard about copper being stolen from our maintenance yards...

![]() |

Hush you, I'm trying to pretend that maybe humanity isn't as bad as I thought, stop telling me it's just because crime doesn't pay the way it used to!!

Iantha Narili |

We used to have utilities like that above ground, but it ment that a lot of the time people would be without power/phone. After world war 2 most of the sewers had to be dug up anyway, so they put the lines in the ground together with those works.
Saves us a lot of trouble from woodpeckers ;)

Yea as soon as I read this section I knew it'd send up red flags for anyone who played more than a little Pathfinder :)

Iantha Narili |

Its very distinct. There are more of its type but its looks and effect are a unique combination in the game.
A learning oppurtunity for this party :P

Dromer returns holding two potions, a small pouch of gold (42gp), and a strange silver pick.
Time for one of those uncomfortable conversations that every RPG group goes through: loot distribution. There are usually three different discussions, in my experience:
1) Party fund? Or no party fund?
Having a party fund means nobody has to purchase their own wand of cure light wounds, and the gold can be saved as a sort of rainy day fund for Raise Dead and such, but it also means less individual wealth.
2) How do we determine who gets what?
Say we find a +1 longsword and a pouch of gold with 2000gp. Someone wants the longsword. Does the value of that item go against a "running tally" of their total wealth, to keep everything even? Would the person receive any gold from this particular haul? Or the next several hauls?
3) What happens when we inevitably sell something?
Say we find, and I use, a +1 longsword. I'd prefer something larger, but it's fine for the interim. After X number of levels, is that item now mine to sell? Or if I sell it, whenever I sell it, does the gold still get split?
4) For the GM: what is your policy on selling items?
Say we find a masterwork breastplate, a +1 longsword and a [artwork worth 2000gp]. Is everything sold at half price? Just the magical gear? Only the equipment? Or could all be sold for full price? I've really had multiple GMs rule multiple ways.
5) For the GM: do you want us to make a "wishlist"?
Sometimes the items that an AP distributes just aren't worth anything to a party, but selling them at half price means the party suffers from a lesser loot haul. Do you like the idea of us creating our own personal magical item wishlist, and PMing you with it? Then as we find gear, you substitute items of equal value from our lists into the haul, randomly? This requires more work on your end.
My personal votes:
1) I'm in favor of a party fund.
2) I'm in favor of splitting all gold found equally, regardless of what else is found.
3) I'm in favor of splitting all sold loot equally, regardless of who's been using what.
I'm currently going through this drama in an AP I'm GMing, and should have laid down some rules at the beginning. The Rogue, in particular, likes to sell items that only he's found. His argument is usually that he's spending the gold on consumables, such as poisons, that help the party, and that in some cases he risked his life to acquire them, when nobody else did. It's a discussion that obviously gets rather hairy at times.

A good thing to bring up now. Not that I'm going to ask my responses to 1-3 hold any weight, but I'll give my opinion just based on how my local D&D group has always done it for anyone who wants it. I'd hope there wouldn't be issues, but loot distribution always has the potential to be problematic
2) Gold split equally, gear given to who has the most need for it. If multiple people want the same item without a noticeable difference in need, whoever has gone longest without a decent upgrade, or has gotten less upgrades.
3) See number 1, once someone has a piece of gear they don't want, and no one else wants / needs, goes into the party fund to be sold later and the gold split evenly.
Obviously some exceptions apply. If the fighter runs through 100ft of spike traps that the barbarian wanted to ignore, guess who gets the Sword of Ogre Decapitation and who gets the fighter's old weapon?
GM questions:
Selling policy - I generally start at 75% and allow haggling with the vendor. I make adjustments based on certain things, like where the item was found. If you took that masterwork breastplate off someone who treated it well, it might start higher than the 75. If you found it on a rotted corpse and it's been underground for months or exposed to the elements in a harsh environment, it's probably not going to be worth as much.
Wishlist: I'd never thought of that before, but that sounds like a good idea. It probably won't do much until higher levels as far as magic equipment - maybe you find a furious weapon instead of agile - but even at low levels it could at least change occasionally the type of weapons you find to be more suited for the party. Anyone who wants to send me a list of what you're most interested in (preferably ordered if you care), feel free to send a PM and I'll keep them in mind when setting up loot.
