Female Human Wizard (metal elementalist)/2

If Malka casts Technomancy, it'll give her a +10 to her knowledge, engineering skill because she already has the technologist feat. Does this stack with her +10 that she already has for that skill? It would be nice to have a +20 in this case to make sure we do everything properly.

Yes, they would stack.

I'd like to recap tonight...

Female Human Wizard (metal elementalist)/2

Malka looked at the broken reactor and the flickering monitors and knew she'd need extra help to make sure she didn't do something she shouldn't and make things worse. She took out a few components from her bag and began to stir some oil with a wire coil while channeling her magic. Her eyes seemed to lose their focus but now she could see auras around technological items and her mind was opened to mechanical properties.

Casting Technomancy

"Seven and Jeyne, you should stay across the room in case something goes wrong. Zaken, you can join them unless you want to help me."

The wizard studied the blinking panels with her newly magicked sight to determine how to proceed and hopefully get the purple flame back to Torch.

Couple questions...how late is it? (Wondering when resources will reset because Malka is getting low on spells). And, can we take 20 on the knowledge, engineering roll to identify the white nanite hypogun?

I think's been a long day but you started Day 15 (this day) in the Foundry Tavern and then came down.

No taking 20 on the hypogun. :)

Female Android Seeker oracle 1/Speaker for the past shaman 1

Would identify help to figure out the hypogun? I just really want to get this silly thing locked down. :) Regardless of whether or not identify works, I'll do a check on it using my Think On It ability.

Female Human Wizard (metal elementalist)/2

I was hoping Zaken would have already rolled but here goes nothing...if Malka fails, can you use the roll to aid Zaken's roll?

knowledge,engineering+amateur investigator: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (11) + 10 + (5) = 26

Soooo close. Can she use her AP to get her over the hump?

Malka took a look at the white-looking gun that they found on Meyanda. Turning it over in her hands, she couldn't help thinking that there was something about it that seemed important. She had a feeling that it had the ability to heal somehow but was unsure of the actual properties that would make it useful. "This seems familiar but I cannot quite remember in what context I have read about it. If we can wait until tomorrow, I will be able to study my spell again and hopefully be able to figure this out." Handing it over to Zaken she adds, "Unless you know what it does?"

tag Zaken

As a plan B, Malka pulled Jeyne aside and asked, "Do you think that she would share with you about this since you are somewhat alike? It is possible that she has an inherent hatred of humans but maybe she will talk to a fellow android? You did want to question her anyways, did you not?"

tag Jeyne

Action 1

Aid another from me and Zaken should do it! :)

Knowledge (engineering) aid another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Success. +2 to Malka's roll.

I believe we have seen a hypogun before, yes? Just of lesser quality? If we haven't, disregard this post.

Well, clearly it is a hypogun of some variety - and a high-quality one at that, Jeyne chimed in, examining the device. As to its specific function, however, I cannot be precisely certain.

Female Android Seeker oracle 1/Speaker for the past shaman 1

Action 2

As the purple flame roiled up the column, Jeyne felt a flash of...not joy, that was impossible, but...knowledge that their task was complete. With such a response, there was no doubt that the reactor was the source of Torch's strange forge, and with its return, her life would return to its everyday routines. They had been successful, and Khonnir's work had been completed, though he had sacrificed much in the process.

Her gaze was finally broken by Malka's comment; turning away from the purple glow, she responded with her usual cool detachment. It is possible she would be more apt to speak with me. I am more likely to understand her motivations, and as you have stated, it is possible she bears some sort of prejudice against humans. Unlikely, though - prejudice is more than anything an emotional response. Still, perhaps it is best if the rest of you were out of sight. Seven, help me move her to a more private room. Tag Seven.

Sorry for missing my post yesterday. It was my 26th birthday and I got carried on by the preparations for a Mexican themed commemoration (to cook all the stuff...).

Action 1 (previous turn)

With the fight over and the collector drone now in a passive state, Zaken eye him with anger. "Hey, he have a thing here..."

JN-53702 wrote:
"The collector seems to respond to her commands - someone disable it, so it does not begin to attack again upon her awaking."

"Sure thing! LEEK, lets get to business, I think it won't fight back so full steam now!" The droid was still hardy though and it took LEEK four more well placed piston-punches to break it down.

Action 2 (previous turn)

After reading the screen and hearing Malka's words, Zaken jumped to her side. "Ha, of course I'll be around and helping you! My expertise in this matter is note something to throw away! Let me teach you a thing or two, Malka!" Zaken was smiling the whole time, clearly joking. It seems that any past problem he had with the wizard was long left behind and what remained was a health friendly competition.

Action 1 (this round)

As the reactor activated, Zaken could not stop himself from expressing his thoughts. "I honestly hope no one was looking down the hole up there in the hill or we managed to create a whole new 'advice for kids'..."

Malka wrote:
"This seems familiar but I cannot quite remember in what context I have read about it. If we can wait until tomorrow, I will be able to study my spell again and hopefully be able to figure this out." Handing it over to Zaken she adds, "Unless you know what it does?"

"Hum, let me see... this is another nanite hypogun, like that we've found before, but instead of being of 'brown class', capable of only removing some sickness, this one is 'white class', capable of completely removing diseases... I image there is a big chance of this thing heal Mr. Khonnir!"

Since Zaken's result was higher, I used Malka's roll as Aid Another if that is ok. Also, since he had already identified a nanite hypogun before, should not make sense for him to gain a bonus, since he is actually only identifying that grades now?
Knowledge (engineering), aid another, bless: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 29

Female Human Wizard (metal elementalist)/2

Happy Birthday, Zaken :) I'm good with Malka aiding since she doesn't need to use her AP, so that's good.

Zaken wrote:

Malka nodded, "Of course, that sounds plausible. Val will be very grateful that you were the one able to identify the instrument to cure her father. How fortunate for you." Even though Malka knew she would have needed help to identify the hypogun, the tone of her voice suggested that she had let Zaken make the discovery in order to get the credit with his girlfriend.

Action 1
Seven cheered and jumped up and down when the purple fire came back, nearly dropping his sword in excitement. He hoped they'd see it back in Torch, and he wondered what Tolgy's reaction would be.

He cheered again for LEEK as he smashed the other automom, punching and kicking the air in a mock fight. He winced as his body reminded him of its aches. It was then that Malka rushed up, handing him another potion. He stowed in his belt pouch until it looked like they were in danger again. He withdraw one of the big needles, dreading the thought but realizing it was needed. He handed the needle to Malka, turned his head, and closed his eyes. Consuming a hemochem.

Seven didn't like the idea of touching the automom because, in his experience, they tended to hurt. Still, he figured the Jeyne knew what she was doing (she was real smart, it turned out), and so he helped her hoist the thing up and into a new spot. He picked his sword back up, pointing it toward her head. "I'll stay here in case she tries to burn us again."

Female Android Seeker oracle 1/Speaker for the past shaman 1

You got it, boss!

Seven wrote:

Jeyne scanned the small lounge, with the barracks off to the side. D5 seemed like the best spot to sequester us. "We will move her into one of the sleeping spaces, on one of the beds. If you feel it necessary, you may remain. But I will ask that you stay by the tables, while I question her in here - it will be more advantageous if she sees no others but myself. I will call out if I require assistance, and you will still be close by."

Feel free to override me if you want, Seven. :)

With the unknown android moved into place, Jeyne reached for the bound woman's arm, activating her nanite-stimulus subroutine. Hopefully the other biomachine's nanites would be compatible with her own.

Healing hex: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
If that's not adequate, I'll use my last cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 If she doesn't need it to come back to consciousness, I'll use it on myself.

As the android woman stirred to consciousness, Jeyne positioned herself in the captive's line of sight, standing over her. "I have repaired some of your injuries, though you will require further repair. You are in no danger at the moment - I do not wish to harm you, though I will not hesitate to protect myself and my companions. Answer my questions and we will be glad to release you; I will even render you further aid once my magic capabilities are replenished, if you remain until tomorrow."

"What is your name?"

"What is this place? We know it is a spacegoing vessel of some kind, but we know little else about it or its history. We come from the surface - the reactor vents out of a hill above our town, and our craftspeople have made use of it as a forge for skymetals."

"Why are you here, and why were you so adversarial in defending the reactor room? Were you in league with the ratfolk and orcs who had taken residence in these rooms? Were you aware of them, or of the gargoyle in the room outside the reactor? We meant you no harm - we are merely explorers, searching for a way to reactivate the forge at the surface and a remedy for one of our mutual acquaintainces, who took ill while exploring the caves himself."

"Did you interact with our acquaintance? He was a human male, by the name of Khonnir Baine." A description of him and his illness follows. "Were you responsible for his injuries, or do you know who was? Do you know of something that would be capable of curing his malady?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 13 Here's hoping for circumstance bonuses. :)
Sense Motive for answers: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 4 = 6 Any chance my Sense Motive penalty is negated by her being an android herself?

Question for everyone, since we're coming up on a pretty natural stopping spot. I'm noticing that, especially with Camrad leaving, we've ended up with a bit of homogeneity in the group - three tech nerds and one from a tech background, even if he doesn't know much about it. We've got three people making most Knowledge checks, two people making most Disable Device checks, etc., and we tend to be coming from similar places roleplay-wise as well. Meanwhile, Seven and to some degree LEEK are the only big damage-dealers we have.

Would we be better served if Jeyne was switched out for another character (perhaps an oracle or a druid) with a less tech-y background? They'd still cover healing/status removal/buffing, but it might help to introduce a bit more variety and roleplay hooks, as well as letting us cover a broader base mechanics-wise. (Don't get me wrong - I'm having a blast playing Jeyne, and I'm glad to keep going with her. I'm just wondering if the group would be better off with a little something different in the mix.)

Hold that thought until you read the turn recap.

You're right - that does indeed answer my question. ;) I'll do concluding thoughts from Jeyne later, but I just want to say thanks for a great time! I'm definitely interested in continuing if you find more time - if not, thanks for as far as we've gotten.

When Tolgy saw Seven, he bullrushed the taller man, laughing and...crying? Seven might have let the dwarf bounce off, but he allowed himself to be mowed over, falling heavily on his back and sending armor and weaponry flying. Seven didn't mind--he didn't need them anymore. He started laughing too, happy that they'd get back to work. Maybe now they'd earn a mountain of money and Seven could get a horse. One of his own. He brainstormed names with Tolgy while they gathered up the equipment and hurried back toward his wagon.

"Dolga," Tolgy suggested with a twinkle in his eye.

Later on, Seven sat with Tolgy, Malka, the Jeyne, Zaken, LEEK, and Val as they shared a big meal. A party. Malka's head leaned on his shoulder and he smelled her hair, smiling, thinking about the horse. He remembered Tolgy's suggestion for a name and chuckled.

But Seven had another name in mind, one he'd heard whispered to him in a dream, spoken in the secret, silver tongue of the stars. He glanced out the window, up toward the glittering night sky and its canopy of twinkling lights. They seemed to glitter even brighter at his gaze.

He remembered that name now.

But he wouldn't tell a soul.

No, not one soul.

Female Human Wizard (metal elementalist)/2

It was no surprise to the wizard that there were a group of people from Torch waiting for them as they returned to town because the appearance of the violet fire was impossible to miss. While Zaken and Jeyne attended to Khonnir’s healing and Seven sought out Tolgy, Malka updated Torch’s council on what had transpired below. At the end of her tale she added ”I would suggest implementing a guard rotation to make sure that the reactor is safe from tampering if you want the violet fire to continue because right now it is vulnerable. There is also a lot of technology below that needs to be studied as it could be beneficial to the citizens of Torch. If I can be of assistance, please let me know.”

While she left the councilors to discuss their options, she headed to the Foundry. Val insisted on hosting a celebratory party that evening and Malka felt the need to wash off all her accumulated grime from the last day.

That evening as they sat around the table enjoying good food and good company, Malka was content. There was a happiness and satisfaction radiating from everyone at the table that she found very enjoyable. She sighed and put her head on Seven’s shoulder, feeling at peace. Torch finally felt like what she thought home should feel like.

Good stuff people. This is why this was a hard game to let go. :)

Last thoughts, for now...

[Communal meals, often colloquially referred to as "breaking bread together" regardless of the meal's constituent parts, are regarded in most human cultures as an integral part of social bonding among familial units and groups of friends. Keleshite and Mwangi communal meals often feature a single serving device from which everyone eats, commonly using flat breads to dip into the dish as a sort of utensil. Ulfen meals prominently feature meats and cheeses, easier to preserve through their long cold season. Taldane communal meals are often lavish affairs interwoven with other social activities such as dancing and conversation...]

As everyone else laughed, joked, and reveled in the company, Jeyne sat at the room's edge, her expression neutral as ever. One track of her mind recited a litany of the mealtime customs of various cultures; another calculated a nutritional breakdown of each of the dishes served (fats and salt were present in high quantities, plant-based foods much fewer and further between). But another voice repeated in her mind as well - the words of the strange android woman Meyanda, and the strange god she had spoken of.

We need to figure out what to do about Meyanda. Jeyne's going to advocate for her release (without her weaponry), since she promised it and Meyanda did after all comply with her questioning, but others may feel the risk to the reactor too great.

@Fabian - I'm assuming no amount of Knowledge (religion) is going to turn up anything about a Hellion?

I'll finish out closing remarks when the above points are addressed.

Eating a piece of Val's precious pies and with his left arm around her waist, Zaken started to remember about these last days... They were heroes now, responsible for the continuation of the economy in Torch and his progress with LEEK was really incredible. The amount of intact technology that he would (probably) be able to study and the improvements that they could mean to Torch was really gratifying but, in the end, the most important achievement was Val's smile and hug when he returned with her father's medicine... from that moment he knew he'd go to hell and back again for her smile.

He looked around the table and saw his friends and for the first time he felt at home... there was no need to leave and brave the world like his pathfinder father did... he had everything he wished in his arms reach.

He got up and raised his cup. "To all of you, it was a pleasure!"

Thanks for the wonderful game Fabian! If/when you decide to pick this up, I'll be eagerly waiting!

Well, since the game is officially over, I don't think other players have the inclination to weigh in on the issues above.

Let's just say that Meyanda was kept locked up in the vessel below until you all figure out what to do with her and while you went back up to heal Khonnir and enjoy your heroes' feast.

Hellion is a mystery at this time.

I'll recap one last time tonight.

PS: I see you all jumped on over to Zaken's RoW game. Good luck to you. :)
