If Malka could get back to Torch without swimming underwater, she'd happily go back to Torch. Since she doesn't want to do that swim again, she wants to keep exploring

Female Android Seeker oracle 1/Speaker for the past shaman 1

My vote's to keep going - we're here, we may as well take a look. I'd like to speak to the skulks first, though, see if we can see any on the people they've killed.

I'd prefer to go to Torch, but am willing explore a teensy bit first.

FYI: I'll be out and about all day and may not be able to post until this evening when I intend to move this along...

Action 1
Seven put the sweet-tasting potions in his pouch for another emergency. He was still sore, but the pain had subsided, mostly.

Action 2
Seven didn't mind the bodies. They weren't going to wake up and hurt anybody. "Is Counsel Mintbane here?" he asked.

Action 3
As they entered the sleek, gray hallway, Seven tensed. This seemed entirely too familiar. It reminded him of those tunnels deep down below the earth. The place without stars.

At the end of the hall another of the things sat, motionless. He listed carefully but it seemed to make no noise. "That's the bad thing that hurt Val...Should we smash it?" Tag all.

Action 3:

As the entered into the hallway contained within the glaucite wall, she placed a comforting hand on Seven's arm. She knew he wouldn't like the enclosed space. She then proceeded to recite the necessary words for detecting radiation. She knew that old technology could sometimes be dangerous and any warning for the group would be helpful.

OK, so I just got back. I'm still waiting on Camrad.

However, I have no definite course of action...

Action 2

Camrad didn't know what to make of the strange cards. They were light, like paper, but stiff as metal and felt oddly smooth to the touch. Remind me again why this stuff is useful. he wanted to say, but had no desire to offend the skulks so he merely shrugged and handed the cards to Zaken. “Why don't one of you hold on to these.” Camrad said, turning his gaze to the metal wall. “This stuff is beyond me.” Tag Jeyne, Malka or Zaken.

Jeyne wrote:
"No, Councilman Baine does not appear to be among the fallen, nor do any of his colleagues - his friends. These, then, are from one of the earlier groups who made forays into the tunnels.

“Guess that just leaves the big door then.” Camrad said as he examined the bodies. Poor saps. The dark places of the world are no place to die no matter where you're from.

Action 3

Camrad wasn't surprised at Seven's reaction. This place was an unnatural thing, created either by man or monstrosity and on any other day Camrad would have wanted nothing to do with it.

But circumstances had changed and he would not be denied. Still, Camrad couldn't help but share Seven's trepidation. How crazy do you have to be to surround yourself with so much suffocating metal? he thought, but his ponderings were cut short when he sighted the rusted golem.

Seven wrote:

“Wouldn't put it past this one to play possum after what happened this mornin’.” Camrad replied as he unslung his bow.

“I think Baine would have told someone if there was another one of these things, which means someone, or something, is replacing ‘em.” Camrad said, trying his best not to make any sudden moves. “And if we're passin’ through there we should put that thing down. As Malka did her magic Seven saw the thing lurch aggressively. He knew it was going trying to hurt her, just like the other thing had hurt Val, and he wasn't going to let that happen. The voice eagerly agreed.

He screamed as he charged forward, allowing his momentum to propel him directly toward the thing. As he approached he twisted the blade back to his right, then swung it around with everything he could muster. The metallic crunch was deafening, the impact sending vibrations up into his shoulder.

Are you guys going to kill my robot before it gets a chance to attack again? :)

Well, obviously. That's how Pathfinder works. ;)

It seemed that Camrad and Seven may have already taken care of the robot...but to be certain, Jeyne retrieved the net she had carefully re-folded after the fight with the jinkins. She tried to squeeze past LEEK and throw the net at the automaton, though she had misjudged how difficult the cramped quarters between Zaken's robot and the wall would make the throw. The net struck Seven's leg and fell to the ground in front of her in a loose bundle.

Zaken touched LEEK's shoulder, guiding him in the fight. Moving and casting Guidance.

"And this was with my help... for something with such skills in calculations, calculate where to land a blow should be easier, right?"

Malka...

Female Human Wizard (metal elementalist)/2

I'm assuming that it has been 10min since Malka last cast Iron Skin

Seeing the automaton come to life, Malka sought to protect herself by casting her spell of protection by making her skin like that of metal.

Malka added her warning to Camrad's. "Be careful. There may be others if someone set this robot as a sentinel."

The robot is calling for aid! It is possible more - But then Jeyne noticed something concerning: before, she had only recognized her words being garbled into Androffan as she spoke. Now, she realized that the difficulty went both ways. While she could understand the robot's speech readily, her companions' speech came through as only static, though she could see their lips moving...

It seems I require further analysis, more than I recognized.

But it seemed that her difficulties mostly arose in times of danger; the only way to alleviate the issue for now was to take care of the danger. Pulling a vial of alchemical fire from the bandolier at her chest, she hurled it forward, hoping to hit the robot without harming her allies too badly...

The whirling drill buzzed as it found a space in Seven's armor and mercilessly bore into his torso. His blood splattered the robot, coating it in a crimson sheen. He screamed in pain, reflexively pulling himself back and causing the drill to rip and tear further.

The voice did not like that. Not one bit. It took control now, and Seven was glad for it, for he was now very tired. His vision blurred and refocused, the world once again awash in gray. Except for the thing. It took on a pronounced shade of red, like his blood. The voice willed his arms to raise, grip his sword like an enormous dagger, then bring it down swiftly, impaling the thing through its "head."

Seven coughed, spitting blood.

Action 2:

Malka hung back at the end of the group because she was really not looking forward to the swim back. She felt like she had barely made it the first time and she remembered how sick the water had made her. "Wound someone be willing to tie a rope off again to help those of us weaker swimmers?"

As he heard Malka's cry, Seven yanked his sword free from the bad thing and staggered around, grinning. "Don't worry, Malka. I'm not going anywhere." He winced as she tended to his hurts. At her suggestion to drink one of the potions he nodded, gingerly retrieving it and gripping the cork with his teeth.

Action 2

Seven dove into the water after Malka, confident in his ability to swim back. But the fight had taken something out of him, and he struggled toward the end, inhaling a mouthful of oily water. He emerged, choking and sputtering, and vomited on the shore. He looked up anxiously, relieved to see that Malka had made it. "Where are the others?"

Remember we still have swim fins if anyone needs them. I didn't. ;)

It seemed previous exposure to the smell of the water had rendered Jeyne's systems immune, at least for a time. She tied her equipment to a rope and strung the rope through the cave as before; the swim was still not easy, but familiarity helped some, and she was able to make it through the long tunnel without major incident, splashing to the surface just behind Seven. Once everyone had made the swim, she pulled her backpack through and re-settled it on her shoulders, remembering as she did part of its contents - the swim fins she had purchased that morning. "Let us return."

Action 3

"We should inform the Councilwoman of our safe return, and that behind the wall appears to be some sort of vessel. Val will also be anxious to hear of the result of our explorations. His body tingled all over as The Jeyne put her hand on him. He could feel the last of his hurts knitting back together. He felt good as new, doing a cartwheel down the metal hall to show Malka he was okay. "That's real good," he said, extending his hand to shake The Jeyne's (another custom that Malka had taught him).

Camrad pulled himself up from the foul water and found that he didn't have the energy to stand for fear that he might empty the contents of his stomach. “Maybe I'll jus’ *cough* lay here a while.” he said, doing his best to clear the putrid essence from his throat.

Seven wrote:
"Where are the others?"

Malka handed Seven a handkerchief to wipe his mouth after he was sick. "That water truly is foul. The others shall be along shortly so we shall wait and go back to Torch together." Malka sat down beside Seven and leaned against his shoulder. It had been a long day and it was nice to just sit and rest. Even if the air smelled foul because of the water.

Seven stroked Malka's hair. In spite of the oily water, he thought it smelled real nice. Besides, he wanted her to know everything would be okay.

He's out until the 29th, I believe - at least that's when he said he'd be starting WotR in earnest.

Female Human Wizard (metal elementalist)/2

Actions 1:

Malka could understand the councilwoman's concern about Khonnir. "We plan to return tomorrow so hopefully the challenges we faced today will not be an issue tomorrow. This will mean we can make better progress in finding Councilman Baine."

Malka paused before asking, "Can you please reiterate who has gone into the tunnels? Perhaps descriptions? The skulks whom we ran into described numerous groups of people, some of which sounded unfamiliar."

Action 2:

Malka wolfed down the meal that Val prepared for them. After everything they had been through that day, she was a lot hungrier than she'd realized. With food in her mouth, it also made certain that someone else would answer Val when she asked about her dad.

The wizard considered going back to the place she called home in Torch but thought it better if she stayed at Val's along with the others. Addressing Val she said, "If the offer still stands for a place to stay here at the inn, I would stay. I feel too tired to go back to my place."

Camrad leaned on a wall, chewing his wheat as he listened to the exchange. “Sounds suspicious if you ask me. Maybe those tracks Knonnir found were theirs?”

Action 2

Camrad had trouble focusing on the table talk. His mind was adrift as he tore a loaf in half and started chewing idlely, seeing the bleak halls of metal running endlessly into the dark. His reverie was by Malka’s request.

Malka wrote:

“Hope it's not too much trouble if we rely on your hospitality. We’ll be outta yer hair first thing in the morning.”

Action 1
Seven grunted as the Dolga lady talked about Counsel Mintbane and the bad things. "Don't you worry, them, uh, automoms won't be much problem. Their weapons are sharp, but so are we." He pointed at himself, LEEK, and The Other Zacken.

Then he remembered Tolgy's question. "So what should I tell Tolgy?" Tag Dolga

Action 2
Seven wolfed down his food, clearing the plate in less than a minute. He had picked up the dish to lick it when he saw the look that Malka was giving him. He sheepishly placed it back on the table, licking his fingers instead.

"Oh yep, still alive. If the automoms wanted him dead we'da found him already. Unless the gremlins ate him." Malka's elbow ribbed him gently, again suggesting he was misbehaving. "Uh, but he's probably just exploring." Tag Val

After dinner, Seven prepared to go. He thought of the hut Garritt had rented him on the edge of the junkyard. It was a small ramshackle thing made of tin, and it was full of holes that let the wind whistle through at night. But if he laid his head just right he could spy out of one such space in the roof and see the stars. That helped him sleep. Plus, no one bothered him there. Except Garritt.

Then Malka spoke up, stating she would stay at the inn. That was okay, for they always kept separate beds. But then The Other Zacken spoke up, too, asking to stay also. That was not. "And me!" Seven interjected, making sure to position himself between the two.

Action 2

Camrad stopped eating his loaf and looked Val square in the face. “We’ll find him Val.” he reassured her, knowing there was nothing more he could say to ease her fears. Then he resumed his meal, returning to his thoughts. she's got so much pain on her shoulders and if we don't do something its all gonna come crashn’ down around her.

Camrad spent the rest of the night in relative silence, speaking only when prompted by another. When he was alone in his room he opened the window, feeling the cool night breeze as he opened the Parables of Erastil. There he stood, reading by the window, basking in the moonlight and reciting the sacred commandments of Erastil. He knew them all by heart, but still he felt the need to read it for himself, as if doing so filled him with strength. Something tells me we won't like what we find in that metal tomb. Hope I'll have the strength to face it old friend. Then, closing the text, he gave one last look at the night sky, and took his rest.

Once we hear from The Jeyne, I'll recap later today. :)

Sorry mate, I'll get it when I get home. You saw my Bloodsworn Vale post - I had one just as long and more complex in Midnight Mirror, lol.

Edit: And my relief decided to no-call-no-show. Phone post when my break rolls around it is! :D

Action 2

"The evidence suggests Khonnir lives yet. Or at least, that he did not meet the same fate as some of the other adventurers who have entered. We had word that he was seen to enter a buried vessel, and that the cave-dwellers we met had no intention of harming him." Jeyne omitted the part where Khonnir may have earned his safety by the skulks' deaths; while she pragmatically understood its necessity, Val might not.

She took her customary gruel of milled grains, milk, and fruit; Val complained it was bland when she tried it, but it was superior nutritionally, Jeyne insisted. Nothing that would cause any detriment to health. Once the meal was complete, Jeyne returned to her usual upstairs corner room, the room she had called home for near fifteen years. Lying down on her hard cot, she was asleep in an instant, no worries or cares keeping her from her rest - for she'd never known worry.
