Seven sniffed the shiny metal band that Zaken handed him. It didn't smell funny. He licked it. It didn't taste funny, either. He held it up over his "normal" eye, peering out at LEEK through the hole. He had seen some people around town wearing things like this. Garritt had several big, flashy pieces like this he wore over his fingers (some of Garritt's teeth looked that way, too). It seemed to Seven they would just get in the way, or would draw too much attention, but he bet they might be useful as weapons if you had nothing else. He slid his hand out of his gauntlet and compared the ring to his fingers. They looked way too fat to wear it. He pushed it into his smallest finger. Surprisingly, the band seemed to expand and slid on easy.
"Woah.." he breathed, testing it over and over again, sliding the ring off, noting how small it looked, then placing it any finger he chose. "Malka, look at this! Zaken gave me a shiny!" He actually liked the way it felt--like a soft blanket. He remembered the blanket Malka had given him and grinned.
Inside the next room, his smile faded. Why was there so much blood? He sniffed the air, listening and watching closely for signs of trouble from the automoms.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
"Careful!" he warned as the others approached the door. "These things don't like us being around."

Yeah, like I said before, I will 'check' WBL once we go up a level and then adjust as necessary.
I'm not going to micromanage wealth nor make you do it. I think the story is above that (unless part of the story is making you feel like you don't have enough funds to do something).
I intend to recap later today.

"Malka, look at this! Zaken gave me a shiny!" He actually liked the way it felt--like a soft blanket. He remembered the blanket Malka had given him and grinned.
Malka went over and took a good look at Seven's shiny. She smiled along with him as he proudly showed it to her. "You are quite fortunate. No one deserves it more than you."
As soon as they entered the room with the drones and the conveyor belt, Malka started assessing what was going on.
linguistics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Zaken had already voiced the purpose of the room to the group so Malka didn't need to add anything. Malka saw the blood along with the others and agreed with the proposed course of action. "I agree with you Jeyne. That amount of blood is definitely concerning. We should investigate the next room in case someone else requires aid."

As Zaken stepped inside the room he quickly examined it, focusing his attention on the gearman. "Oh, we do not know about this protocol of yours but I imagine it is not really pleasant... I think the orcs submitted to this protocol though." Aside from any jokes, Zaken was actually analyzing the construct, trying to discern any weakness they could exploit.

Action 1, Round 1
Seven bristled as the automom sprinted toward them and LEEK crashed into it. He growled and stepped forward, raising his sword, but the automom's weapon thumped him hard, really hard, on his chest. The force of the blow made it feel like he wasn't wearing any armor at all. A familiar, dreaded sensation rippled through him--a sizzling pain that burned, tickled, and itched all at once, only worse. He shuddered, almost losing his grip on the sword, but the sensation passed quick. Only, he couldn't quite feel his arms and hands anymore.
For a second, he was afraid. But it didn't matter, the voice reassured him, because this automaton would crack and crumple like the rest. Yep, yep, he agreed, allowing the gray to wash over him, letting the the voice take over as the bad thing began to glow red.
But his body was clumsy, unwieldy even to the strange intelligence that now controlled it. Seven snarled and swung the sword in an overhand chop, but he moved slow, and the bad thing merely raised its own weapon to block.

Malka saw the thing attack Seven and she knew something was wrong because of Seven's reaction. Knowing that she wasn't very effective in a fight, Malka did what she could to break the automaton's metal shell and make it easier to destroy. Raising her hand, she aimed at its head, focused her magical energy into a projectile, and hurled it at the gearsman. Surprisingly, an additional missile followed the first. Malka smiled at this new development because any additional power was welcomed.

The balls of force hit as expected and cracked the metal shell of the gearsman's head. Spiderweb-like cracks emanated outwards from the points of impact showing that it was now vulnerable to additional attacks as part of its cheek crumbled away revealing inner circuitry.

Malka then accessed what she remembered of her lessons to determine if there was some weakness she could take advantage of in order to help Seven.

Malka yelled at Jeyne over the loud clangs of metal on metal, "Did you keep one of the zipsticks? If so, the electrical jolt it produces may cause harm to the creature."
Good thing I wasn't able to post until now, or I wouldn't have thought of it. :)
At Malka's cry, Jeyne remembered the device they'd found before - she'd kept it on the off-chance they found a use for it, little expecting to. Pulling it from her bandolier, she darted forward and lunged at the robot, depressing the red button on the zipstick's side. But the robot was too quick; it ducked away from her, and the zipstick merely rushed through empty air, its tip sparking.
Melee touch attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
JN-53702
Action 1
Though she trusted Malka's assessment that the creature was vulnerable to electricity, the zipstick was not a highly-damaging weapon even with that advantage...and Seven's sword was, even having to contend with the robot's heavy outer shell. So with the zipstick in one hand, she reached out to Seven with the other, chanting the Kelish words she understood more by wordless memory than definition.
Introducing more of her nanites into his system would be ineffective, she knew. In her own system they were highly adaptive, but in another's they would default to the programming of the original burst, working to finish repairing already-closed cuts - at least until the original infusion deprogrammed and were eliminated, within the next twelve to twenty-four hours. So instead it was the Sarenite invocation she called upon, with a nimbus of heatless fire erupting around her hand and working its way into the injured Seven's flesh.

Zaken Marson
Action 1, Round 3
Zaken was starting to get worried about Seven's state. It would be so much easier if it focused his attention on LEEK instead... I can fix him quite easily... but, perhaps, he is not interested in 'subduing' other constructs...
"LEEK, aim at his cheek, in that weak spot!"
Attack (slam), guidance, power attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 - 1 = 25
Damage (slam), power attack: 2d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 + 3 = 13 Well, I imagine it is finished since he was already at serious wounds.
Zaken left an 'YES' when LEEK's pistol propelled fist connected to the construct's cheek, removing its head from its shoulders. Zaken watched as its arms twitched a bit, possible thanks to some short circuit.
Malka
Malka suppressed the urge to panic as she saw the robot continue to beat on Seven. The last thing Seven needed right now was someone who was hysterical and useless. As she reached for her wand, she saw Jeyne reach out to provide healing to Seven and that allowed Malka to focus. Saying the words to activate the magic, Malka sent a magic missile hurtling towards the gearsman.
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The bad thing took advantage of Seven's clumsiness, parrying his attack and bringing its own weapon down heavily on his shoulder. Seven felt the joint crack under the weight and fell to one knee. He gasped in pain as the world began to blur.
But suddenly the Jeyne was there, whispering something soft and reassuring in his ear. Her voice parted the clouds in his head, even drowning out the voice for a time. He didn't understand what she said, but somehow it still made sense: Hit it back.
And so he did.
He braced his right foot on the ground, pushing himself up with everything he had. He stabbed straight up with his sword, into the bad thing's head. The blade sunk deep, rending metal with a now-familiar screeching noise. He winced, really really hoping it wouldn't hit him again.

With a triumphant 'aha', Zaken called both Jeyne and Malka closer to explain how the device worked. "This is a chemalyzer if I'm not wrong... it is a handheld unit with an extendable wand tipped with this sampling nozzle. With it, it is considerably easier to identify an unknown pharmaceutical, poison, chemical, or any substance actually. It cannot aid in the identification of magical effects or items like potions, however... It is also not in a very good condition so, if you agree, it might be better if I handle it... Though she knew delay could prove disastrous were it for too long, Jeyne could see the wisdom in Zaken and Malka's suggestions. "I concur. If we wish to spend the night below again, I suggest it is in here; it is as defensible a space as any we have seen. Or perhaps we can make do in the elevator - it has only one entry as well, and since it did not function until today it is likely few would suspect to search in it. "The orcs' armor is finely made - it will likely be valuable. The shields as well." Taking one of the wood saucers, Jeyne straps it to her arm, testing the weight of it and finding it light and manageable. She'd focused more on keeping people at reach with her spear than worrying about the up-close defense a shield would provide, but this one seemed unobtrusive enough to hinder her little, even attacking with her spear or casting a spell. "If no one objects," she chimes in, "I intend to use one of the shields - a bit of extra defense will not go amiss."
Not technically proficient with shields, but since a masterwork buckler has a 0 ACP, it doesn't much matter. Her AC will increase by 1 unless she attacks in a round.

"It means the illness is not worsening - and the clerics will continue to minister to him, ameliorate his condition until we are able to find a more permanent solution. And we intend to continue searching earnestly; there is more yet to be discovered in that vessel, and every trip finds us more accustomed with its layout."
Rising, she straightened her skirt and turned to Val. "Has it been troublesome to get him to eat? If it becomes difficult, I have some concentrated sustenance tubes from the vessel on the shelf in my room; they are not difficult to see. You may feel free to use them, if they should be required." Looking at the tear running down Val's cheek, Jeyne found herself pondering - and not for the first time - how inadequate she was at dealing with the situation. She could see to their practical needs, of course...but there was an entire ocean in Val's mind that Jeyne could not begin to navigate. Would never be able to.

Seeing the severity of Seven's remaining wounds, Jeyne reached out to set a hand on his arm - then remembered herself and stopped, her hand hovering slightly over the big man's skin. I am going to use the new healing technique I showed you yesterday, Seven. I know you find the sensation unpleasant, but it is highly effective, and perfectly safe. Or we can get you another potion if you like - we still have much of the funds from our first excursion into the vessel available.

It seems prudent to save out a certain amount for purchasing items against emergencies - potions, wands, and the like - with the rest divided evenly among us for personal purchases.
