Hey all - just a heads-up that I'll be leaving Saturday for a week of work travel, that will then become a week of personal travel, due to return on Feb 8. I will try to keep up on posting, but I will be pretty busy.

He could probably grab one of the potions of Cure Moderate Wounds that she has and bring her back into positive hp.

Sweet.

Just waiting on slacking players?
Talon Skyfall |
Our Arasmes?
Talon Skyfall |
Well he seems fine. He posted from his main alias hours ago. You can click on it. Seems he just rudely ditched us and didn't say anything. Sometimes that happens.

Don't quote me on this, because I find it practically shameful, but I'm very, VERY bored.
Yeah, we hit a bit of a slow patch (for which I bear some responsibility, methinks).
And I know what you mean about Arasmes - I didn't know him, but it is always weird when people disappear like that. I had a DM start up an Ancient Greece-themed PbP that looked brilliant (I was playing an inquisitor of Hermes), we were just a few days in and she vanished. Always wondered what became of her.
And then there are the DMs who drop a game cold, and then show up a few months later and post a handful of recruitment threads...

Well at least you say something, late or not. That's called consideration. People disappearing without saying anything happens way to often. It's a little irritating actually as it's not fair to the rest of us.

I did it on Gaia Online because there was a verbally abusive dude who never left me alone. Actually sent people into my thread to make it suffer and stuff.
All because my avatar and character I initially played in his thread was male whilst I was female, and I wasn't a big hateball...But that was... different, I think. Everyone saw it coming.
On the other hand, I had a player disappear back in those days and got angry only to later found out he'd committed suicide due to real-life bullying. Guess I never got over that.

Yea, that does sound like it sucks. But it wasn't your fault.
On the change of subject, I made myself a ton of fried rice and I will be wolfing that down for a few days.

A friend is bringing over duck tacos, of all things, as a belated birthday celebration for me, since I was out of the country for my birthday. Lots of guacamole is being made right now, and I think I'll fry up some very ripe plantains to go with it all.
And Trout, you are a wise one - a perfect moment for a change of topic.

I worry that my game has gotten boring too. I've also been reading the Distant Worlds book lately and I'm interested in it.
This game is not boring though. As for Arasmes, sometimes games just don't work for people. Not saying anything was rude, but getting worked up over other people has never gotten me anywhere. I'm sorry to hear about your friend who killed himself though. As someone who's had some mental health issues, I know that it sucks, and you have to want to get help, when a major part of the problem is a reluctance to seek help out. Some of us get lucky and get through it. Anyway, share time's over.
I ate some steamed broccoli and greenbeans with fire salt, garlic salt and cracked pepper. Also a bit of bread, plenty of butter, some fried brisket and a hunk of cheddar. Washed it down with a diet cherry dr. pepper, and all's right in the world.

Drovya, your dinner wins, except for the diet soda, it sounds amazing.
Drovya Gregorovitch |
Ha, you got Tekkis up, he's probably going to try to plow a path out of the entangle if you tell him what's up, also, entangled doesn't mean you can't move, just that you can only move at half speed. You should be able to get clear next round if you just move out.
Thanks for the dinner points Talon. I hear you on the diet soda thing too. There was a time when it would have been a mexican import coca-cola with real sugar. Too bad I've found out that sugar and white flour are really bad for my body chemistry, and since I've dropped 45lbs without them, I think it's worth it.
Talon Skyfall |
I suppose losing 45 lbs is a good reason. :)

Thanks guys. Honestly, I'm not fishing for compliments, just happy to have found something that works for me. Anyway, I think I'm going to unplug for the night. I hope you all have marvelous evenings. Let's plumb the depths tomorrow!

I have to admit that I've DM'd a few threads that have just had to die, either they got boring or people stopped posting (or there may be some correlation there). The first thread I DM'd on here was a blast, but was mostly without structure. The fun thing was that it worked best that way. It was an investigation, intrigue, plot adventure. I had a few players drop off on me, and incorporated their deaths into the quest. It was amazing.
Then there are the few games I'm playing where things seem cool and exciting, and then the DM drops off the face of the earth. That's only happened once or twice.
The last one, is unfortunately, due to a playstyle conflict between my roguish fighter and the Paladin of Iomedae in the Curse of the Crimson Throne. I was basically forced to drop since I no longer felt like I was getting anything done, and the Paladin was forging ahead with his ideas before I could even talk about mine. Se la vie. I loved that character, and the adventure path too.

Our progress may have been slow lately, but I've been in a sustained freaked out state about what's happening in game, so boring would not be the word I'd give it!
Kanthuun |
I am enjoying the game tremendously, Trout! I am also enjoying your game, Drovya. :)
I do feel like I'm going to stay away from all web and entangle-like spells in the future....seriously, they have backfired just about every time I've tried to use them. I dunno about anyone else, but the 'controller' thing with magic users, effective as it may be, just doesn't feel as thrilling as blasting and other forms of damage or debuffing. At least, that's my personal revelation.
Drovya Gregorovitch |
Thanks Kanthuun!
I hear you on the controller thing. Don't get me wrong, I love to grease up a goblin as much as the next guy, but those friendly fire effects are a pain in the butt, and the Selective Spell Metamagic Feat only works on AoE spells with a duration of instantaneous, so there's no help there, unless you've done some sort of Admixture, Rime Spell, Dazing Spell, etc. shenanigans. Basically, they take some coordination and forethought. Incinerating something is a lot more satisfying for sure.
