I see Cuddles narrowly dodge the giants blow and tighten my grip on Tao's arm, once he has dodged I let out a sigh of relief and release my grip. I am still holding his arm and hand though.

Kinda regretting Alain's spell choices right now. There's not much he can do to help but stand back and cheer. Or maybe...

Yep. It was a readied action that won't happen unless Alain figures it might help. It would just be a distraction so possibly a +2 for 'aid another'. I'm not sure what other skill would be used to try and distract a combatant?

Cuddles presses his chest into the elbow and uses the locked arm as a lever. He slides his left foot just slightly ahead of owlbears and rotates to the right, forcing him to put his weight on the blocked foot.

The Owlbear is forced to trip over his own weight And the might of Cuddles tug. He falls to his hands and knees with Cuddles crouched beside him, using that arm's leverage as a tool to counter and prevent any further movement.

Fickle dice can be given a hand

Shaking his head at the tug and pull of the fight so far, he sees the blow that would have likely dropped even the rugged Cuddles narrowly miss their compatriot. As he does, he attempts to give his friend another bit of luck.


Owlbear broke the pin, but he should still be grappled. Off topic, I won't be posting as frequently today; Enya just got Pokemon X, so we'll both be occupied. :-)

Owlbear gives a mighty heave and pushes them both back to their feet. Cuddles just repositions and tries again to pin his opponent.

The reposition catches Owlbear by surprise, and he's pinned again. Fortunately, his great strength allows him to break out. He looks confused, frustrated, and a bit scared.

Cuddles knows that face. He's been there many times. When Lucy was teaching him to hug, she always stressed, Don't you bully now, Cuddles. Bullys never win.
Cuddles takes a step back, keeping his hands up for Defence, but not attacking the Owlbear's when he clearly doesn't want to fight anymore.


The crowd boos as Cuddles steps back. Scourge exclaims, "Tired already? Come on; crush him, Owlbear!" He throws a club at Owlbear who catches it reflexively. He stares at it for a moment and then swings it at Cuddles!

Enraged by this act of cheating, he wants to help Cuddles, but knows that he cannot get involved in the fight. Letting go of Enya, he moves to the right side opposite of Cuddles and casts Disguise Self, making himself look as close to Cuddle's appearance as possible. Looking at Scourge, he nods, "Fisticuffs you say, then you give a weapon. This is not a fair fight. I won't swing, nor will I help, but I will stand and talk."

Looking like Cuddles, he calls over to Owlbear. "Wait, I'm over here, Owlbear."

"Aldous! Wait! No!" Before she can grasp his hand to keep him from going, he already looks remarkably like Cuddles. Her hands fall limp by her side, knowing there is nothing she can do now. Mica comes down and cuddles with her to try and comfort her. Before long, she leans on a beam, feeling sick and dejected.


@Aldous: The combatants are currently looking at each other, and you don't sound like Cuddles. I'd have to assign some penalties to the Bluff check.

@Cuddles: In-combat Intimidating is a standard action, so no grapple attempt this round...

@Everyone: Man! This fight isn't going anything remotely like I'd envisioned it. What to do, what to do... ;-)

Scourge's face turns a deep crimson at Aldous' boldness. He begins to sputter something unintelligible but is cut off by Plugg's cry of "CHEATER! You think this is a tag-team match or something?!? This fight is over!" He scoops up the prize purse (and River's coins) and stomps away. As the crowd reluctantly disperses, Scourge herds Owlbear back belowdecks, cursing and smacking him repeatedly with a club.

Do what you want for the rest of the evening; you each have a nighttime action if you wish. :-)

Grumbling, he had managed to get involved in the fight without actually doing anything...in a battle of fisticuffs that ended up with weapons, he got called a cheater. Another strike against Scourge.

Walking over to Cuddles, he claps him on the shoulder, "I'm sorry, my friend, I had hoped to keep the club from your head...not end the fight, but better that we not hurt Owlbear. He did not seem...all there."

"No, though we should go and check on Owlbear when we think we can without Scourge spotting us. I want to make sure he is okay." With a shake, he releases the form he had been using, then walks over to Enya.

"I'm sorry. What you said caught me and I wanted to make sure that we could stop the fight without anyone getting too badly injured, though I am sure I am going to feel it tomorrow," he says softly, his eyes slightly pained that he had caused her such discomfort.

Cuddles shakes his head. Aldous can look like him? That blows cuddles mind for a full 30 seconds. He shakes his head again and heads down for some shut-eye. Maybe tomorrow's arm wrestling will go well. Right now he's tired from his tussle with Owlbear. He flops into his cot and has no trouble passing out, completely forgetting about his rum that he never drank.

With the fight over, he looks about to those that are still about and seeks to find the right person to talk to. Seeing Tilly, he walks over to her and gives her a smile, then leans in for a quick whisper.

"I have noticed that you are fairly fond of your rum. I would prefer not to drink any at the moment as I find the tilt of the ship and the turn of the rum on my stomach to not be a good combination. Perhaps after I get my sea legs, but until then...perhaps you would like me to sneak you my rum nights that it seems possible? I would hate for it to go to waste...," he trails off as he smiles to her.

Following this, he seeks out Enya if she did not come with him, at which point, he will spend the last of his waking hours talking to her, making a special point to discuss religion, since Besmara and Calistria have their similarities and their distinctive differences, he wants to just chat about it...to learn more.

"Oh, Aldous..." She puts her arms around him and embrases him, her warm body hopefully a comfort to the pain he is feeling inside. I look to Plugg, "The word cheating is used when you break the rules ... like giving a combatant a weapon during a fist-fight. That means the money is ours as we didn't break the rules."

I walk back to the hammocks with Tao in an angry mood but give him a quick kiss and then rush to my hammock before climbing inside and falling into a deep and quiet sleep. While I sleep I dream of different ways to pay Plugg back for his theft.

When I awake I perform the routine which has become the norm now.

Arising early, as is his MO, he says his prayers, then says her quick sermon to include all save Alain in it's benefits.

Going down to the Galley, he is pleased to find Kroop sober for the second time in a row. "The captain must be really enjoying my turtle stew for him to demand it a third time in four days..." Grabbing his gear, he goes out to brave the storm and hunt for turtles.

Honestly have no idea how it works with Kroop not drunk. I catch the turtles and he cooks them? So I make the survival and he handles the cooking?

Line work is hard and grueling. The rain did not make it any easier. As Tao went about his work, some of the other riggers caught his eye having similar problems with the rain. In response, Tao goes out of his way to help them complete their work while doing his own.

Seeing that it is raining I decide not to take Arirai to Grok today, but just before I begin my working I rush off to her and tell her that I will be keeping Arirai for the day. I take off some of my clothes, leaving just enough to cover my curves, but there is a lot more flesh on show (which the group may see strange as that is not the usual style River goes for).

It is a lot harder to catch the rats without Cuddles' help but with Arirai we both get the work done effectively. I make sure that we are both on the deck with the most rain hitting it, as long as there are rats there to be caught. Even though it is raining hard and you cannot see in front of you very well, anyone who looks at River will notice that she has a huge smile on her while she works, Arirai too.
