Blue rat squirms around but is unable to break loose of Cuddles' grasp. Green rat snaps at River again (take 3pts damage). Cuddles hears the fight not going well and roars in his rat's face. He drops to one knee, holding the rat to the deck in the shallow water. One of his hands darts to the rat's muzzle, the other to its lower jaw. With a mighty heave he pulls the rat's jaws apart. It's mouth snaps open, and Cuddles just keeps pulling.

I smile as it is clear that I am the cause of the rat to fail hitting Tao, but in my revelry I fail to notice the rat coming for me and it bites down hard. I let out a grunt of pain and start to wobble on the spot. I look at the rat with anger in my eyes, "You'll ... regret ... that!"

"I'm ... starting .. to feel ... faint." I continue to stand, but it is clear that won't be the case for long.

With a roar from Cuddles and a gurgling hiss from the rat, the rat's lower jaw rips free of the poor beast's skull. Blood stains the water around cuddles red. The rat falls unconscious or dead at his feet, but Cuddles is already in motion. With blood soaked hands he steps up between fallen Tao and reaches out for the rat threatening River.

Black Rat thrashes madly but fails to escape Cuddles' grasp. Red Rat nips at Cuddles but misses. Yellow Rat looks like it's going to score a nasty bite on Enya but inexplicably gets its teeth stuck on an armor spike that wasn't there a moment ago. Mad luck, I guess. Green Rat, however rips a nasty chunk out of River's belly (take 4pts damage and give me a Stabilize roll DC 13. If you haven't failed a disease save yet, give me an additional DC 11 Fort save.).

Tao continues to bleed out on the floor.

@River: Accursed can be a really great Hex - especially for Sleep Hex builds. If it's not what you wanted, though, go ahead and pick a different one once combat is over. Cackle or Evil Eye are always popular. :-)

@Aldous: If you run flat out, you'll reach the bilges in two rounds. :-)

Enya watches as the hairy mess is grappled by Cuddles. She looks for a weakspot and finds one. "Say hello to your nasty kin in Hell!" She lets out a laugh and lets the spear fly.


The rat quivers as Enya's spear pierces its brain. Combat is now over. :-)

Cuddles feels the spear hit home and roars in victory! He shifts the animal in his hands and twists its head around - twice. The wet sound of snapping bones and ligaments is a fitting finale to the bloody ordeal.

Enya looks over at Cuddles. "We need Aldous... He can heal us..." She goes over to Tao and attempts to stabilize him.

Try as she might, she just cant get her fingers to work right. She isn't a healer after all, but it was worth a shot. "Where's Aldous... Damn that snooty Alain for being too much of a coward to come down."

Cuddles looks at her efforts to heal helplessly. When she fails, he grabs Tao and hoists him up into the crook of one massive arm, then reaches down and grabs Ricer by the shirt. He bounds up the ladder with them both, then hauls them up into the top deck, all the while shouting, ALDOUS! ALDOUS!

We're technically still in combat rounds since Tao isn't stable yet, so we're currently waiting for Aldous' action. He's out of town, iirc, so action will pause until he's back. Tao should be getting back around that time, so yay!

After the combat people begin to realise that when I fell unconscious, I fell face down in the water. I lay there for a few moments until Cuddles grabs me by the furs and hoists me up onto his arm.

As a stat note then, cuddles can carry them both under medium encumberance, so he should have no trouble moving with his load. With double moves he can get just about anywhere in 2 rounds, meaning Aldous should be able to reach us in 1, 2 at most.

Aldous arrives and it is easy to see that Tao has taken more of a pounding, since the blood is still flowing. Seeing the rats, he knows he dare not channel, so he rushes over to Tao and uses a cure light.
