Drea stares impassively at Mivvy. "That wasn't as effective a charismatic opening as we could have hoped for, wasn't it?" They look at the others from the pool expectantly.
"Would another of our band like to attempt to engage this gentleman in conversation so that we might learn something of this chamber? I can translate." Drea motions with their inkpen.

Virog crouches down in front of the gillman, waves and grins his yellow-toothed grin. "It fig'res that we come all this way and the one guy we find can't seem to talk. Right shame. I really wanted to know what was going on around here too. What with the Aroden stuff 'n all."
He'll pull out his own inkpen, scribble a few words about trying to figure out what's going on in the cave and maybe the gillman might know what was going on here during the last full moon, because one of our friends saw and was rather curious about it, but he'll get it wet trying to pass it over, smudging all of the ink to a point of near illegibility.

The sylph slowly wades out of the pool, putting their ink, quill, and paper away.
"It would seem that his reverie can not be disturbed," Drea offers. "I have regrets, my friends."
They wordlessly shoulder their pack and head towards the paired exits to the chamber, briefly touching their fingers over the ancient walls (while avoiding any fragile carvings). Drea concentrates at the exit points, trying to determine which way to explore first.

They have a hard time paying attention, turning back to the gillman a few times as if to try again.

"Oh, maybe he's like a sage, right?" Memory illuminates Mivvy's face, "I met this guy once, he was like a mystic or something and he never spoke because he was really spiritual and kind of beyond using language. I bet, if you waited here for days, just meditating and looking at the carvings, he'd eventually say one thing and it would be so totally profound."
As she babbles, Mivvy heads down the Eastern tunnel.

Virog shrugs and starts wading out of the pool. "'s a right shame to 'ave come all this way and find the one guy who can't say nothin' to us 'bout it. You'd have figgered that he'd have acknowledged us or something, at least. Ah, we can't very well make him tell us nuthin', that goes against the charter, now doesn't it?"
He pauses, dripping wet, at the water's edge, and furrows his brow. "It does, doesn't it?"
Virog shrugs, content to look it up when he returns, and wanders along after the party, wringing out the edges of his cloak.

Mivvy calls back, "Explore, report, co-operate... after that I'm afraid it's all a bit of a blur. Who has time for all that reading?"

Virog chuckles softly to himself as he follows along down the eastern tunnel, water squelching out of his shoes. "Ig'nance of the contract don't excuse the contract. I'll not be breakin' my charter, no sir."

The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as the you continue down through this tunnel, and as you approach this area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident.
The passage turns to the east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus. The body of a male dhampir lies facedown toward the back of the cavern.
There are also some other denizens of these caverns, which will require... AN INITIATIVE CHECK!

Drea draws their greatsword and concentrates, stirring the air around them. Additionally, the sylph places their hand on their suit of armor, causing faded runes in the breastplate to glow blue.
"The echoes of history reside here. Some were not meant to be," Drea intones.

Saya downs another skeleton, their numbers dwindling. So of course the remaining two swarm the poor monk! Except they can't, what with it being rather a bottleneck. So they advance on her, and the one in front tries desperately to hit her.

"Dull and heavy weigh the stones of time," the sylph utters monotonously.
