Can has dot? :)

Yep, dot all you want! You all have approximately 49 hours left!

I, Katsunesage, present to you Dasios, a world walker druid made just for your eyes to take a gander at.

Background:
Dasios could never satisfy his wanderlust. He continuously traveled, through all the great cities and not so well known settlements, learning about their culture and lore. He could never quite find a place he wanted to stay, so he stayed mainly in the wildernesses out on the outskirts of the cities he visited. Though almost all looked on him kindly, he didn’t feel like he quite belonged in their cities and towns, villages and settlements. Each place had its charms, but each had its flaws, and he could not live in a place with flaws.
He wandered and wandered, with his trusty steed Armondo and his companion Zeesh, looking for a place to settle. Many times, Dasios had to stop Zeesh from eating Armondo, explaining to the glorious tiger that Armondo was needed for travel. ”If you eat him, you must carry his burden. You don’t want that, do you Zeesh?” Normally, with that, Zeesh would make the sound he was named for and curl into a ball to sleep.
One day, Dasios had an idea, which he had never thought of before. It was after visiting a rural town with a rather nasty rat infestation he thought, ”If I were to create my own town… There would be no flaws…” He ran his idea by Zeesh and he didn’t seem to mind it, so they traveled northward to Restov.
Almost as if Desna herself had divinely ordained it, he was summoned by a the Swordlords who heard he was in town. Dasios tied up his horse and he and Zeesh went to the castle. There he was given a charter to go and explore the Greenlands. ”Alright!” Dasios thought, ”I haven’t been there before. Sounds like a good place.” As he folded up the charter and placed it in his pocket, a grin spread across his face. ”What a perfect place to make a perfect city.

Appearance:

Dasios is a tanned skinned half elf with crystal blue eyes. He wears his dark blonde hair long and wild, putting it up when needed with a vine or some string. He doesn’t have much and doesn’t need much. His face is wind whipped, making him look coarse. He is a man of few words, and tries to use them wisely. His face is normally neutral; no frown or smile.

Lashav, bastard of the Surtova
Fighter (no archetype) Archer

Background:
With the Surtova running Brevoy, Issia found itself with a growing formal aristocracy. Marshwood, a small fishing village near an only slightly larger wetlands forest, became home to Duke Erron Surtova. Duke Erron earned his title through blood, being a younger cousin of the king, but he earned his meager holdings through an inability to escape the family's piratical past. Duke Erron was rumored to have sired more than 20 bastards in Marshwood alone. These were in addition to the six children his wife bore him.

Tarra, while a young woman making her way repairing nets, was one of Duke Erron's many conquests. She gave birth to Lashav. The man she later married, Garon, treated Lashav as well as he did the children Tarra bore him.

As common as Duke Erron's bastards were in Marshwood, the people still tended to shun them, because the Duchess demanded they be treated poorly, as though such abuse of children would actually punish her husband. He, of course, didn't care very much.

As Lashav grew, he (and several of his half-siblings) found themselves outside the village, in the marsh more often than not, simply because being in the marsh meant NOT being targeted by the people in the village. As he continued to grow, Lashav tried to find ways to end confrontations without anyone involved coming to harm. He actually started to develop a reputation as a peacemaker before he could be considered a man. This reputation, and the death of the Duchess, led to Lashav winning a place in the Duke's Guards. He spent the next couple of years learning to use weapons to protect the Duke, and Marshwood, should his words fail. During the training, Lashav was found to have a strong affinity for the bow, and he was encouraged to specialize in its use. As he was just starting to gain some honest responsibility and position in the Duke's Guard, Duke Erron died.

Nikolai, Erron's eldest legitimate son, wasted no time in establishing his dominance. His first order was to have all of his father's bastards killed. Lashav's position in the Duke's Guard is both what saved him and what doomed him. It saved him because his friends ensured that he knew of the order and had an opportunity to flee. It doomed him because everyone that the new Duke was sending out to kill the bastards knew him on sight.

Lashav fled to the South, desperately trying to escape his friends and training partners, some of whom were eager to follow the new Duke’s orders and chase him down, while most of the others found excuses to tarry in Marshwood, “seeking out” other bastards instead.

Lashav eventually found his way to Restov, hoping that it would provide enough distance from Duke Nikolai that he could find a way to make his living and live in peace. As he was finding his way around town, he heard about the expedition into the Stolen Lands, and the effort being put into finding brave souls to conquer the lands in the name of Brevoy and King Noleski. The risk would be great, but the reward could provide Lashav the ability to stand toe-to-toe with his half-brother, Duke Nikolai, without fear of being slain. How could he not take the opportunity to protect himself?

Figured I should have my avatar make an appearance so you can take a look at the finished product Lugos. I placed pretty much all the supplies I considered for the expedition into the horse drawn cart. I was trying to select things that would make sense for an extended trek into the wilderness with a small group. Keeping an eye towards self sufficiency while mapping and documenting the journey.

I stayed away from magical items as well as the direct purchase of spells since you expressed concern about people taking advantage of item creation feats in some of your previous games to power level. That leaves my character with about 300gp for future expenses.

the Lotusmaster Order:
The Lotusmasters came into being millenia ago in Tian Xia, while for thousands of years previously the mundane properities of the Lotus Flower in all of it's wonderous varieties had been known no one knew of their quasi magical properities. This changed with the coming of Emperor Fa-Shan of the Shan dynasty the Emperor Fa-Shan was an exceptionally scholarly being unlike the majority of his forebearers. The Emperor began a massive project to educate the Empire and learn everything possible about it's people, culture, arts, laws, folklore, magic, ores, metalcraft and plants. One of the scholars sent out was Fujun Kanji who would later on found the Lotusmaster order and act as it's first True Elder. Fujun over a period of five years discovered that when properly prepared that Lotus Flowers of any variety had quasi magical powers that depended on the Lotus itself. His first experiments with the Lotus allowed him to gain abilities such as fists as hard as mountain stone, the ability to swim with remarkable ability and power, the ability to haul immense loads and numerous other minor abilities. He eagerly reported his findings to the Emperor who intrigued gave Fujun Kanji an Imperial mandate to learn more of the Lotus Flower and the abilities it could bestow upon users. This Imperial mandate including over twenty thousand gold bullion, twenty scholars who would go on to become the first memebers of the Lotusmaster Order and a small force of Imperial soldiers to protect the expedition from bandits and the like.

Over the next decade Fujun Kanji learned the uses of hundreds of different Lotus Flowers and gaining increasingly powerful abilities from them. He could perform feats that astounded court mages and grandmaster monks alike, one of these astonishing abilities was derived from the Pale water Lotus which when used properly allowed Fujun to make his body like water. Arrows just seemed to be "absorbed" by his changed body and hammer blows bounced off of him like he was composed of jelly. By the end of the decade Fujun Kanji accomplished his greatest feat: Immortality. It was shocking one day the seventy year old Fujun Kanji looked like an old, dottering scholar, the next he looked like he was in the bloom of youth. Fujun Kanji was called forth to meet with the newly appointed Emperor Genji-Shan, he sat with the Emperor in deep counsul for a month. No one knows what truly occured in this counsul however when the two emerged the Fujun Kanji was given Imperial mandate to found the Lotusmaster Order. Fujun Kanji and his disciples were given the great Mountain of Lu-Hani and the small town of Lu-Gandu as their "monastery". In a period of twenty years a great Monastery was hewn out of the mountain near it's peak and hundreds flowed into it's halls to learn the ways of the Lotusmaster.

Over the next four thousand years Fujun Kanji and eventually a group of his most devoted disciples would become the True Elders, Lotusmaster's who had achieved immortality and served as beacons of wisdom and experience in the Empire. Then things changed in 1200 Imperal reckoning (roughly three thousand years before the current golorian year) when a massive gate opened up under the then great metropolis of Lu-Gandu. Out of the gate spilled a daemon horde, thousands upon thousands of the foul fiends came from their hell of Abbandon to inflict suffering upon the world. Lu-Gandi was a massive city of sixteen thousand inhabitants and it was filled to the brink with wizards, clerics and magi for the Lotus Monastery was known for its sponsorship of scholars the Empire wide and Lu-Gandu was a major center of learning and the city put up a heavy resistance against the daemonic horde and the Lotusmasters came quickly to it's defense however they were not fast enough. It took the Lotusmaster's two hours to reach the city and the daemon horde had ravaged half of the city and killed well over a third of it's population. The Lotusmasters joined with the remaining wizards, clerics and guardsmen to repel the daemonic horde. They managed to defeat the cursed army of fiends but now without heavy losses, another third of Lu-Gandu's population was dead and Fajun Kenji was slain while fighting the Daemonic overlord responsible for leading the invasion. In addition to his loss three more True Elders had perished and two thirds of the Lotusmaster order consisting of two thousand had died.

Lu-Gandu was rebuilt to an extent but it never again became a mestropolis of thousands upon thousands and the Lotusmaster order had lost much power and prestige. While still accorded much prestige by the peasants and lower nobility the order lost the Emperor's ear and lost much of the funding it was given by previous Emperors. The remaining triad of True Elders decided to steer the Lotusmaster order in a new direction, in addition of just the centralized education that the monastery had provided to aspiring students many Lotusmaster's were snet into the world to teach new Lotusmasters. This was to ensure that if the Monasteyr was wiped out that the Lotusmaster order and it's teaching would not be wiped out along with it. As such many of the remaining Lotusmasters crossed the world and taught students in apprenticeships and they soon became legendary not just in Tian Xia but in Avistan, Garundi, Quadira and Casmaron. Now the Lotusmasters have spread across the world and they are both admired and feared by many.

Goals and Desires of Orsino:
Orsino desire more then just power and wealth, Orsino desires to become a True Elder and found his own monastery which would be the first ever in not just Avistan but outside of Tian Xia itself. To found such a monastery however would be a massive effort requiring great wealth and power, furthermore it would require great political authority. Having hundreds of Lotusmasters in your borders can cause quite a bit of panic, especially when these rulers are the royals of Brevoy who are known for not exactly being sane...

Combat Style:
The difference between a Lotusmaster and an alchemist is the difference between a flash and boom sorcerer and an illusionist wizard. One is loud and not very powerful the other is subtle and capable of killing you with ease. A Lotusmaster is not a "transformer" in the sense that an Avistan alchemist is, a Lotusmaster will not for instance sprout claws or grow wings. A Lotusmaster however can fly via a mixture of the see through wind Lotus and the Bone white Lotus. By drinking a mixture of two the Lotusmaster's bones in effect become exceptionally hollow allowing his body to be pushed along by the slightest breeze. Another example of the difference between Avistan alchemists and Lotusmasters is how the bomb works. When an alchemist throws a bomb is creates a small eplosion of fire that damages the targets and those near him. By contrast the Lotusmaster throws not a bomb but a highly breakable glass orb that on impact unleash the dust of a ground Fire Lotus. When the targets inhale the dust their lungs inflame as if they were being scorched by a desert sun. Does this clear up in your mind how the Lotusmaster is differnet form the Avistan Alchemist?

Sorry to be a bother, but I don't seem my name on the list of divine characters submitted, so I would like to resubmit. :-)

I'll add you in the next time I modify the list.

Updated!

Competition is getting thick. Not sure if you care about posting activity, but I am in 5 play by post now and post multiple times a day in each if the story allows. As stated before I have been in a number of failed games, but would love for a kingmaker one to work out.

Looks like other then melee, everything else is groups of four.

I, Majda Orlovsky, answer the call of the Swordlords.

Character and stuffs in the profile.

Being overlooked is a halfings lot in life. I just hope it is not indicative of my chance to be selected. :-)

I'm not sure if I made a mistake or if you just overlooked Gia. I don't see him on the list.

Being added is always good! I eagerly await the 12th and hope I get picked. If not, more wandering for me!

Lorald Orlovsky wrote:

Just because of that, I want to see 5 seperate games. An all arcane game, all divine game, all trickster, etc.

You're up to it, right Lugos?

Though it may sound like I'm being sarcastic, I think it really would be cool to see how that worked out.

Thank you Lugos I have been receiving inspiration from real life expeditions like Lewis and Clark as well as TV programs like Rawhide. With a little personal experience from my time in the military peppered in. It is amazing how much food and water it takes to keep even a small group of people going. I recently seen a episode of "Hell On Wheels" where the whole show revolved around finding enough water to keep the workers alive and productive.

I understand that an adventuring group in pathfinder can make such things rather trivial through access to spells like create water quickly. I Still felt access to such easy solutions couldn't be assumed by my character. Besides having mundane access can be an advantage at times since it can free up spells for other things.

While an all (insert one type) party would be fun, I am actually going to choose one from each of the five categories. Just FYI.

Also, once more, I apologize if I miss anyone in the listings. I am attempting to keep it as accurate as possible, but between human and computer error, I may not get the full list 100% accurate. That said, I have reviewed in detail every application. If anyone wishes to continue elaborating on their character, or have any questions, please continue to ask.

Aww. That would be interesting. Two druids, a cleric, and an oracle? Its like the beginning of a joke! It'd make for a great party line up! haha!

I tend to come up with a character as I make them. Dasios just kind of, happened. I wanted to play a druid and this worked nicely with the flavor of the game. I wish I could say there was inspiration from outside sources, but I can't think of any.

I just wanted to point out the other Halfling Oracle in case I was also missed. My backstory should be up later tonight assuming no unexpected problems.

And Miro's backstory is now in the profile.

I left the last paragraph a little vague, as I would welcome intertwining someone else if I do get chosen - having someone show up at the Hetlind's to buy a horse with the charter and inspiring Miro to come along with (if that would help/fit).

Actually, you can. I am playing a paladin with the redeemer and warrior of the holy light archetypes in a different game. It's just his preference is all.

Ah okay that must have been what I was thinking, thanks for the clarification :)

30 1/2 hours left (miscalculated last time I think...) But keep the submissions and character background info coming! And, as said previously, if you have any questions, just ask.

Attention! Due to a coworker having to bail out of town this Saturday, my schedule at my job has been altered. It is now 1am where I live, and I have gotten today (Friday) off so I can work Saturday. As such, I have altered my schedule for the closing of submissions to 12 pm (noon) cst today, and will, after one more once over of all applications, make my announcement at 2 pm cst. I apologize for any inconvinience, but now the wait has been shortened by a full 12 hours! Yay'

Before I make anything official, I would just like to thank everyone who has shown interest in this, and especially those who submitted. I did not think I would get so many submissions, and they are all excellent. As much as I would love to pick you all, I must now begin the extremely difficult task of narrowing down the list. Best of luck to all!

Lorald prepares three crossbow bolts as he checks his heavy crossbow. Running his fingers over the eagle design on it's head.

"Oh don't mind me. But I have to say three other ranged experts like myself may not make it today. Only Olheon knows which will fail. I may even be among them."

His crossbow twangs as he pulls the trigger to test it unloaded.

"Not that I won't do my best."

xD

But really best of luck to everyone. Stiff competition and no matter what the party will turn out great.

Looking at the almost equal amount of applicants in each "class" I was wondering about picking a group by having everyone else vote for one in each other class and see how that group turned out, but it would be skewed by grouping of those voting.

And submissions are...

CLOSED!

Thank you everyone. I will now re-review the submissions once more and post the party results within the next 2 hours!

Good luck everyone.

And, after careful review, the following have been chosen for To Forge a Kingdom: Kingmaker (in no particular order)

Bexerian de Bonn, Human Synthesist Summoner
Komana Medvyed, Human Aldori Swordlord Fighter
Orsino Fjordson, Half-Elf Internal Alchemist
Mikhaela Greenhilt, Aasimar Cleric of Erastil
Ranzo von Lebeda, Human Fighter
Tessandriel Mithlynnta, Half-Drow Wild Shadow Ranger

The process was difficult, and everyone was seriously considered for the game. I'd just like to thank everyone who did not make the cut for their determination and interesting characters and ideas, and I wish them luck in all of their future gaming endeavors!

Have fun guys

Awesome!!! Welcome my co-gamers.. Glad I am here!!!

Don´t believe. I realy happy with this !!! ** Thanks Lugos !! ** Greeting Bexerian, Orsino, Mikhaela, Ranzo and Tessandriel !!!

Try to have fun!

Traits

Armor Expert You have worn armor as long as you can remember, either as part of your training to become a knight's squire or simply because you were seeking to emulate a hero. Your childhood armor wasn't the real thing as far as protection, but it did encumber you as much as real armor would have, and you've grown used to moving in such suits with relative grace. Benefit: When you wear armor of any sort, reduce that suit's Armor check penalty by 1, to a minimum check penalty of 0.
Savage You were born and raised in untamed lands far from civilization. You learned to survive in the elements among brutal humanoids and beasts.
Benefits: You gain a +1 trait bonus on knowledge(nature) checks and a +1 trait bônus on survival checks to get along in the wild. Knowledge(nature) is always a class skill for you.

Class
--------------------
Fast Movement A barbarian's land speed is faster than the norm for her race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor, and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the barbarian's speed because of any load carried or armor worn. This bonus stacks with any other bonuses to the barbarian's land speed.
Rage A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.
While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her strength and constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to armor Class. The increase to constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-,Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.
A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.
